It was before 12 pm on a Thursday afternoon. The city of Williams was pretty quiet with minimal foot traffic. We saw good reviews for Rulu's and decided to give them a try. There were 3 other tables occupied when we arrived but the atmosphere was quiet. We had a toddler in our party that was hangry so of course noise elevated and we received dirty looks from the elderly couple sitting nearby. Apart from their judgments, food quality was great. There was only one server and he was busy between all the tables, but he was kind and helpful! We stopped by Rulu's on a Thursday, and it was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was low-key, relaxed, and exactly what we were looking for. We ordered the mac and cheese with buffalo chicken, and WOW the buffalo chicken was incredible! We also had the cheeseburger, which was phenomenal, and the fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. Our server was so friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He made the experience even better with his great attitude and service. We chose to sit outside, and the weather couldn't have been more beautiful. It even sprinkled a little, which somehow made the whole vibe even more perfect. So we have been driving our side by side for a few hours. We are with another friend investigating property to purchased. We decided to go the back roads and stumbled across this place. I ordered salmon (medium rare) raspberry salad with avocado. The raspberry salmon salad was outstanding. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the greens were crisp, and the raspberries added a bright, fresh pop of flavor. The dressing tied everything together without being too heavy. Really well done!" Hidden Gem. Stopped in for dinner during a Route 66 trip. Was a little concerned when we first walked in that there were not many people there and it seemed more bar ish than fine dining. Boy were we wrong! Our server was great and answered all of our questions. I ordered the Chipotle Shrimp Pasta and the others in our group had the Chicken Alfredo and the Spaghetti with Meatballs. I should note that there were no sides or salad included with the meals so we had to order separately where typically this included at other restaurants. However, once our food arrived, we were blown away. It was piping hot and super flavorful for all of the dishes. I cleaned my plate and contemplated licking a bit. We pulled into the RV park late and just wanted a decent meal. The reviews for this place looked solid, so we gave it a try. We were seated quickly, and drinks were taken right away. My dad ordered an old fashioned with rye whiskey. When it came, it wasn't rye. He went up to the other waiter making drinks ( There was no bartender) and asked what happened. The response was, "We're short on rye," and they showed him a bottle with barely half a shot left. That's something we should have been told once our waitress put in the order. The waiter tried to "fix it" by just pouring what was left into the drink. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and it was bone dry. The fries were the only decent part of the meal. When the bill came, there were surprise charges. An extra $5 for the rye whiskey that wasn't actually rye, and another $1.50 for a tajín salt rim on my margarita. None of this was mentioned when ordering. My advice: ask about the final price before you order, because they tack on charges without telling you. Feels like they're taking advantage of tourists. But since this is my review the Ceasars salad was a catastrophe. Wilted large cut lettuce .drenched in bottled salad dressing. Should say poor tasting salad dressing. This is a cute place with both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a full bar--which is always a win! The food was decent, but what really stood out was the excellent service. We were visiting the area during Christmas for Canyon Coaster and found Rulu's along a strip with local shops and other local restaurants. The design and setup of the restaurant inside reminded me of an old house that had the walls torn down and not much else done with it. The outside area would probably have been a much nicer area to sit and hang out but with the cold weather that wasn't an option. They seemed really understaffed but the people working were hustling so although we didn't feel the understaffing with long waits it was obvious watching them run around that they needed help. We tried two different pasta dish and patty melts with basic drinks. The food was decent but I can't say that I'd go back for anything. Fries were cold and tasteless and while I didn't try the pasta they didn't look like anything I would want to eat. My beer was a bit flat and tasted like the keg lines were either dirty or the keg itself needed to be changed. The staff somewhat made up for the other shortfalls but this will probably be my last visit to Rulu's. read more

We stopped in this cozy local restaurant and were greeted with friendly staff and a pleasant family oriented restaurant when visiting the Grand Canyon. The menu was pretty basic and the food was very good. Portion sizes were large and four of us shared 3 dishes and were quite satisfied. The shrimp scampi had a good amount of shrimp (see photo) and had plenty of garlic just as I like it. Everything had good flavor and the food came out fairly quickly. ----TL;DR---- Pros: big portions, friendly staff and a nice local business, food was solid. Parking right up front Cons: a little pricy, basic menu, a little off the main strip Bottom line: a nice "family dinner" place with big portions and friendly service. Great food, great service! I had the salmon, cooked PERFECTLY. (I'm pescatarian and extremely picky with my fish) Hubby had and enjoyed the steak salad. Located right before you get into the main area of downtown Williams. So there are other options if you want to drive just further down the street. However we enjoyed our meal here. The burgers are cooked just slightly pink in the middle. Tasty fries. More importantly the beers on tap. For some reason we only had flat beer during our visits in Sedona and Grand Canyon so finally getting a proper beer was really nice. This isn't a go out of your way stop but if you're looking for a quick bite it's a good stop. read more

Well, I read all the reviews and thought we'd give it a try. When my husband and I went in, there was only one server who was also host and bartender. He was very friendly. My husband ordered a meat dish ( chicken fried steak) and I had salad. By the good amount of time it took to get our food, ( probably because there was only one worker) my husband's was lukewarm, and some actually cool. We kindly told server and he took it back to kitchen to reheat. Big mistake! My husband is so sick this morning and all during the night with intestinal distress. This place is pretty busy. It is a Sunday night before Labor Day. It was a pretty loud atmosphere for my liking. There was a young lady playing a keyboard and singing. No idea the style of music but it was slow and such and like the same tune over and over. I could not understood a word she was singing. I felt like too her to stop playing. Meal price seemed a bit high, but it's a tourist town and it's tourists season. The salads were very fresh, but they were very limited on dressing options. We had the option of ranch, Italian, or raspberry vinaigrette. We got ribeye steaks and baked potatoes for the main course. It was ok, but nothing fancy for these prices. I was also given an extra side that I did not order, some sort of coleslaw. It had jalapeños in it. Our waitress never checked on us. No refills. Just basic service taking our order and bringing our food.
