Our friends favorite bartender Rafael was on shift and made our drinks, shout out to Rafael, excellent mojitos. For our appetizers we had the fried zucchini, fried calamari and pot stickers. It's my go-to spot for whenever I'm shopping at roosevelt field mall. I have always loved the Grand Lux Cafe and was super excited to come here again after many years. Came here with a friend for lunch on a Sunday morning. The restaurant is large and can sit a large capacity of people for any occasion. When we came inside,we were immediately sat and greeted by our amazing server. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered a bottle of prosecco and for food, I ordered the Indochine chicken and shrimp. It was absolutely delicious and I loved the melody of flavors with the sweet curry sauce. The portions were huge and I had enough to bring home for dinner. Grand lux is great! First time coming here for lunch. Fried zucchini was excellent. The steak frites were great and was served with a delicious red wine sauce, which there was a decent amount of. The Beef Wellington, which we were very excited for was a bit disappointing. It came out dry with barely any sauce and no mushrooms at all. We did ask for more sauce and the waitress eventually brought some out so that helped. Service was a bit slow at times although the bus boy was excellent and he was really hustling. Grand lux has went down the hill. Rude staff, they changed their menu's and when I ordered recently for delivery the bag wasn't sealed properly causing the delivery driver to eat my food. I called them to warn them about properly placing DoorDash stickers on bags and they were so rude and condescending about it. The lady I was speaking to said "well it's a sticker they can take it off." Yea no shit they can- but then the bag would rip making it obvious they removed it. I was at this restaurant on Wednesday, July 29th with my mom and friends. The waiter was very kind and courteous. My mother and I had the chicken schnitzel. it was amazing. I do wish they gave a little more cucumber salad but all was great. I asked for extra lemon for mine and gravy on the side for my mother's. My mom likes everything smothered in gravy. We've eaten at the one in Garden City just outside Roosevelt Field Mall (but technically part of the mall) several times. It's always been an excellent experience with delicious food and attentive service. The restaurant has an upscale vibe but is relatively affordable, especially if you stick with burgers or sandwiches. You can immediately tell it shares a parent with Cheesecake Factory - it has that same vibe, with low lights, classical, organic decor (lots of curvy features) but it's a bit more spacious with large, comfortable booths. 4 of us had burgers, while my daughter had kids spaghetti with butter. They brought out generous baskets of warm bread immediately and it was delicious! This was, hands down, the best burger I've had in a while since Red Robin closed on Long Island. I got the avocado-chipotle burger. My husband got a bacon cheeseburger. I had a side salad, everyone else had fries. Grand Lux Cafe is also known for its freshly made desserts, but we were way too full. My son and I had ordered our burgers without the poblano peppers. They left them off but also forgot the chipotle mayo! The waiter offhandedly mentioned "it doesn't come with that." We didn't make an issue of it, but he brought out just one small cup when we had two burgers. That's the only slight glitch that keeps this from being a five star review. (We checked the menu, and it was supposed to be included on the burger. Anyway - fabulous service, good food, will be back. Edit: I'm editing my review because the owner replied and to me, that says a lot about service. I'm not changing the stars. What happened was the waiter was snarky on 2 occasions over the burgers. After the lobby is the bar that had a few tables for happy hour. After the bar is the grand dining area where we were seated. The dining area was huge with lots of seating. Grand lux has been consistently good. I love the indochine chicken and shrimp which I got with pasta instead of rice. The Korean short rib tacos. The short rib sandwich. The brunch items too, the biscuits and gravy. The salmon piccata. Then the baked to order cookies and beignets. The service is great too. The only time I had bad service is in 2017 when we had a server tell us thy couldn't give us only multigrain bread when all of the other times they could, but that was once out of a dozen times. Huge shout-out to the General Manager, Jakai, who personally took great care of us and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. You can really feel the leadership in how smoothly the place runs. Also, Nick was absolutely amazing attentive, friendly, and on point the whole time. As for the food... I'm obsessed. The caramelized chicken was phenomenal, and I still go crazy for their ginger beef that flavor hits every single time and just feels good to eat. It's one of those dishes I think about even when I'm not there. Pro tip: I love coming after happy hour because it's more relaxed and less crowded. During happy hour it gets packed because everybody shows up the energy is wild. Either way, the food and service stay consistent. Great vibes, great people, and consistently great food. I opted for the avocado wontons because having loved the avocado spring rolls from The Cheesecake Factory, this choice was a must try. Looks-wise, they don't look the most aesthetically pleasing. Looks like a green blob. I do prefer the tamarind sauce from TCF more than the sweet chili sauce. But taste-wise, is very similar - The wonton wrapping is fried and crunchy, similar to the spring rolls and the avocado fillings are soft, hot, and chewy. Delicious. Their menu is huge, ranging from brunch to salads. Ended up choosing the steak tenderloin tacos, which although, it doesn't look like a huge portion, I guess if you order an appy, the meal is really filling. I wasn't a huge fan of the guac, felt very runny and seemed watered down. However the tacos themselves, soft shell, along with peppers and onions, beans and salsa on the side, which was nice because you can customize to your liking. I visited Grand Lux Cafe in Roosevelt Field, Garden City, for lunch around 4:30 PM. On 6/15/26 I was excited because I've been here at least three times before and have always enjoyed my experience. The first two times I visited, I ordered the garlic shrimp pasta and it was absolutely delicious. full of flavor and prepared perfectly. On my last visit, I tried the slider burgers, which were also good. Unfortunately, today's experience was very disappointing. I ordered the garlic shrimp pasta again, but when it arrived, it was extremely watery and had almost no flavor at all. It tasted as if it hadn't been prepared correctly. I do want to acknowledge Rachel, who was very sweet and helpful. She had no problem sending the dish back to the kitchen. However, when the pasta was returned, it seemed like they had simply drained the sauce and brought back buttered garlic pasta with shrimp. It still lacked flavor. there was no cheesy taste or rich garlic flavor like the first two times I had ordered it. I ended up eating some of it because I was hungry, but my intention was to have enough left over for dinner as well, especially since the dish cost around $20. Unfortunately, I left with no leftovers and an unsatisfying meal. This experience was disappointing because I've had this exact dish before and know how good it can be. I hope the kitchen pays closer attention to consistency and quality in the future, because this visit did not meet the standard that made me want to come back. read more

I would have given 3 stars, but the spectacular service we received from O'Neal made me go up a star. We were greeted warmly and immediately sat at a lovely both. The place was busy, but wasn't too loud. The decor was nice, but I thought it was odd there was a decent gap between the table and the wall. The women's room definitely needed attention for sure. Lack of toilet paper, paper towels overflowing out of the garbage cans, and a very unpleasant smell (both times I went in, about 40 mins apart). After the 2nd visit, we alerted the hostess stand. Now for the food. The cream of chicken/mushroom soup (not pictured) was delicious. The kale and warm grain salad was good as well. Of course, it was my entree that there was an issue with. I asked prior to ordering, even though it was listed as a chopped salad, if it actually was chopped, and was told it was. Side note: I had weight loss surgery and salads are hard for me to enjoy unless they are chopped. When I received my salad, half of the toppings were missing. O'Neal immediately brought it back and had them top the salad with the missing toppings. My issue still was that it wasn't a true "chopped salad", I tried my best to cut it up better, but it was a chore (luckily I fill up quickly). Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but mainly because of the service we received from O'Neal. Visited tonight during a very busy time! The Restaurant handled everything in stride. My wait was a little less than 30 minutes as was promised. We were not disappointed. Our waitress, Kayla was the best! Attentive , listened to our requests for dinner and delivered flawlessly and was quite personable and witty. So refreshing!
