Conveniently located in downtown Reno next to the famous arch sign. This hotel is non-smoking, pet friendly and no casino is perfect for visiting the Reno/Tahoe area. Hilton properties follow a high standard with clean rooms, pleasant staff and relaxing accommodations.

My second stay here. I immediately realized I just lost my diamond status and so the nice perks were gone. Had it for years and immediately no love from the hotel. No free parking (which is across the street, but only costs $7), nor executive lounge. Total bummer. I still made it work and used my F&B credit at the HH, which was great! I really like the 7x water filtration dispensers on every floor. It's nice to be able to refill your own bottle. Good thinking Tapestry.

Very nice hotel, for Reno, the restaurant at the lobby is great and it is nice, clean, reception personnel was great.

I had to come back and review the event staff and 3rd floor venue space. I held my daughter's 15th birthday here and it was perfect. I was able to customize a menu and everything turned out better than I expected. Allie and Carlie, very responsive and helpful and so was everyone else on the catering and service team. Big shout out to Christian, the head chef I believe. He made our antojitos dreams come true! The rooms also were very nice, love that this place is smoke free.

The stay was nice and very convenient. The hotel is located right downtown, which made it easy to get around and explore the area. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The on-site restaurant was a plus the food was tasty, portions were generous, and it made dining really convenient.

Could have been a great stay. Hotel has a good location, updated, spacious rooms, and is mid price range. Parking is self or valet. We chose self as we didn't need in/out access. There is an executive lounge. I have no experience with it because the guy at check in said it was only open during happy hour for drinks. Not true. It's open in the morning too. There is an actual piece of paper that talks about it that I was never provided. So we wasted money on drinks in the restaurant when those in the lounge would have been complimentary. I have an annual lounge pass for Hilton. I have Diamond status with Hilton and couldn't believe how stingy this staff is with upgrades. This tier is supposed to receive an upgrade and there was availability in every category. Had to text and call and was told they only offer paid upgrades. Greedy and doesn't honor loyalty benefits. Not fun to beg for a "perk" that is given automatically by most other properties. Wouldn't stay here again based on uninformed, unfriendly staff and poor treatment of loyal members.

Whitney Peak is a good option for a non-casino hotel in Reno. The location is convenient (right next to the arch! and walking distance to the river). The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, the decor fits the theme, and the climbing gym is over-the-top unique. Hotel guests get a discounted rate to climb (but I don't think it comes with any gear or instruction). There are a few small things they could improve that would easily take them to a 5 star: -More intuitive temperature setting (my room didn't go much above 62 degrees which is pretty chilly) -Attention to detail in the furnishings (for example: the bedside lamps are outside of arm's reach, the chair was facing the dresser, the hallway decorative lights were different temperatures) I only stayed two nights. I did not have a car so I can't speak to parking. I did not bring my dog though they are pet-friendly. I felt safe in the neighborhood. I got breakfast at Cafe Whitney and enjoyed it (separate review to come).

    Thanks for the welcome

Super easy to get to and centrally located to most things downtown. I'm not sure if it's a plus or minus there was no gambling here but it was nice not having all the outside people that come with gambling so I guess it was a plus for the most part. Check in was easy and fast for me. I did notice the desk people treating others like it was some expensive and high class place they were lucky to be at but they treated me fine. There's a reataraunt and bar on site which was helpful. Lots of TV's and the place was nicely decorated. Room was decent size. Everything was pretty clean and neat and in good working order. The AC was loud and hard to get to the desired temp so I just ended up turning it completely off. Shower was hot and towels were big and soft. The gym was pretty lame but I'm thankful there was one and I did get to squeeze in a couple workouts with what they had. There is a big climbing gym there that was pretty cool if you're into that. Location was central downtown so it was easy to get to the other hotels, casinos and Reno event center.

The restaurant has an incredible kitchen for food prepared and provided in the banquet room. The appetizers were fresh and delicious, appropriately portioned. The desserts were absolutely fresh and delicious. Well worth the calories! The staff was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was classy and spacious. Valet parking is available or street parking , also.

Room was clean, bed was comfy. AC was easy to control. It did have a microwave and mini fridge. Emphasis on the mini for the fridge. Pool was semi heated. The outside temp was in the 60s so the water felt about room temp. Whirlpool was nice and warm. The fitness center has the basic weights and cardio machines. Laundry facilities only had 1 washer and dryer. We had dinner at the bistro located in the lobby area. Basic foods of salads, sandwiches, pizza and burgers. Didn't know they had a kids menu until we had placed our order and one of the workers (the one who didn't assist us) asked the family behind us if they wanted a kids menu. The bistro is only open during certain hours (breakfast and diner mainly. Grab and go snacks and some travel items available at the "market" next to reception. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

Here's an update…read more Grand Sierra Resort - Frustrating Stay Despite Being a Loyal Guest / 5 I have been coming to the Grand Sierra Resort annually for years -- once for my grandson's basketball tournament at the convention center, and again each July for a golf tournament. I consider myself a loyal, returning guest, which made this past weekend's experience all the more disappointing. When I checked in, the receptionist was genuinely kind and helpful -- a real bright spot. She offered me a room upgrade for $45 more per night and assured me she could place me on the same floor as my son, just down the hallway. I was excited. However, she then said she needed her manager's approval. The manager came over, barely acknowledged me, and flatly said no -- apparently reserving those rooms for other purposes. The receptionist apologized, but the damage was done. For a guest who returns here every year, that interaction felt dismissive and discouraging. The receptionist herself was wonderful, but the manager's handling of the situation left me feeling like my loyalty meant nothing. Later that evening around 8:30 PM, we headed back up to our room on the seventh floor and discovered that only one of the three elevators was operational. What followed was a 20-minute wait just to get on an elevator, packed in with other frustrated guests -- on a Saturday night, no less. Beyond the inconvenience, I couldn't help but think about what could happen in an emergency with two elevators out of service. That is a serious safety concern that management needs to address immediately. Outside of these issues, the rest of the stay was business as usual and accommodating. But given my history with this property, I expect better -- and loyal guests deserve better. I hope the Grand Sierra takes this feedback seriously before my next visit.

Despite recently going through a refurb it still felt old, tired, and already in need of a refresh. The bed was comfortable and clean, but you could clearly tell that dusting wasn't a priority for the cleaning staff. Also, the coffee maker was filthy. Furthering my refusal of using hotel-provided coffee makers. Water pressure and temperature out of the shower head was great, though. That's always a plus. The property is coming along nicely, though there's still plenty to do. I love the addition of several art pieces scattered about the lobby. The Neon Line, an urban trail of sorts, displays numerous art installations once featured at the Burning Man festival. Food options are actually quite decent, borderline good. Hanna's Table is good for quick sit down bite. For a nicer meal, you can't go wrong with signature steakhouse, J Paul's. While not the greatest steakhouse in town (that honor goes to Atlantis, in my opinion) it's still a solid option. We didn't try their buffet but I have heard a few good things. Overall, we had a good time at J Resort. They still need to finish the refresh on their pool as well as the addition of another restaurant and bar, but there isn't enough construction going on that would interfere with your stay. I'd definitely come back once they're all done.

No matter if there were a lot of people or nobody, they would take forever to come down (and I believe one was broken). There was a time in particular there were 20-30 people all waiting around for the elevator. I asked an employee where the stairs were (since I was on the second floor). It took two employees to even figure out if there were stairs, and then I had to wait around for security (who never came) in order to go up them. The room, while decently clean and modern, was missing hand soap, and the AC rattled extremely loud when the compressor would turn on. I finally figured out I could jam a pillow in between the bed and AC to keep it quiet. Throughout the stay, the front desk people were very unhelpful, either not knowing anything, or just saying "yeah I can't help, go ask the bell hop".
