I haven't been to the Nugget in years, frankly it was a hole and mostly still is. We had concert tickets for the outdoor venue. We heard it was redone and better. The casino is still so smokey. They either need better ventilation or prohibit smoking completely. The patrons at the Horseshoe Bar were obviously overserved. Screaming drunks, stumbling people. Honestly, where is security? Our room was on the 19th floor. It was a corner room and actually quite nice (until it wasn't) the king bed was comfy, there was a chaise lounge and 2 chairs. We overlooked a train yard and metal recycling plant. If you looked up, instead of down, the view was quite nice. Then, it happened. Hot water was running brown in both sinks and the shower. I called the desk, they said let it run. We did. Still brown. The white wash cloths were discolored. She said the cold water is okay to drink. Ummm, no. I asked for bottled water to be sent up. At midnight, when it still hadn't arrived I called the desk. No answer. I affixed a note to the door asking to not knock, just leave the water, which they did. The only redeeming quality is Anthony's Chop House. I won't ever stay again. read more

Bed bugs, two room moves, and absolutely no mitigation plan!!! I have never written a public review before, despite plenty of less than perfect experiences. I worked in the service industry for years and generally believe businesses deserve the opportunity to make things right. The Nugget had that opportunity and chose not to.. During our stay for Hot August Nights, we discovered bed bugs in room 1638. Security responded promptly, confirmed the issue, documented it, and moved us to room 2838. That replacement room had a long standing AC leak, saturated carpet, peeling wallpaper, and visible growth behind the wall covering. Engineering inspected it the next morning and told us we absolutely could not remain there. We were moved again, to room 1242. The frontline employees were kind, responsive, and genuinely helpful. Management was the problem. We repeatedly asked what the hotel could do to prevent us from carrying bed bugs into the next rooms or home with us. There was no laundry service, no heat treatment option, no containment procedure offered, and no written policy or protocol available when requested. We were allowed to move the same luggage and belongings from 1638 to 2838 and then to 1242 with no mitigation whatsoever. If we had picked up hitchhikers in the original room, we could easily have carried them through multiple hotel rooms and eventually home. We are now home and spending our own time laundering and heat treating our belongings because the property offered no assistance with this before our departure. Manager on Duty Cole Hughes was particularly disappointing. After initially avoiding speaking with us directly, he ultimately offered no meaningful assistance and told us, in substance, that once we left the property the problem would be ours. He then directed us back to Security, whose staff had already done far more to help us than management had. We requested management follow up in writing while we were still on property. No response. We requested information about what to do if we brought bed bugs home. No answer. We were told Risk Management would contact us in 7 to 15 business days. Before departure, I ultimately obtained the Risk Management phone number from Security myself. I called after returning home and left a message. This is what bothers me most: the Nugget responded to the rooms, but not to the guests. Moving us was necessary. It was not a complete response to a bed bug exposure. If this is what corporate ownership has turned guest service into, relocate, document, pass the customer to Risk Management, and wait for them to leave, it is incredibly disappointing. I am writing this because future guests should know: if you encounter bed bugs here, based on our experience, do not assume the property has a meaningful procedure in place to help prevent you from carrying them elsewhere or taking them home. The room itself was about what I expected, so I don't have major complaints there. My issue is with the valet service. In the morning, we waited over 30 minutes while valet staff searched for another guest's lost key. Later that same evening, we ended up experiencing the exact same thing ourselves. The valet staff lost our key and it took over 20 minutes for them to locate it. They did not think to hire more staff for the busy Memorial Day weekend and the basketball/volleyball/adult softball tournaments that were going on in the area. The night before we had to leave our car halfway in the street because valet was so backed up. The guest service manager told us to leave it half away in the street. The next day the same manager blamed the desk agent for losing our key when they did the same thing in the morning when she wasn't there. Unfortunately, this caused us to be late to a magic show we were attending at Grand Sierra Resort. I understand mistakes can happen, but seeing the same issue happen multiple times in one day shows a serious lack of organization and professionalism. It has been a while since our last stay at the Nugget. While we used to get comped rooms here in the past, we needed a place for the Fourth of July this year. The room felt a bit overpriced due to the holiday, but it ended up being completely worth it!The property has been updated since our last visit. Our room was very clean, and the bed was highly comfortable. The best part was the convenience. We walked right outside into Victorian Square to hang out. They had several jumpy houses that my son loved, plus tons of great vendors and food trucks. We wrapped up the perfect night watching the fireworks at 9:30 PM. The bathroom was filthy: black smudge marks showing that the floor had not been mopped. Pubic hair, sunflower seed shell and cracker crumbs on the bathroom floor. I guess the floor was not swept either. Peeling wallpaper. The pipe under the bathroom sink leaked leaving a puddle of water on the floor. I've been to Reno several times in my life but this is the first time I've stayed at Nugget Casino Resort. Overall, my one night stay was not a bad experience. They have amenities such as a pool and gym. I did not check these things out. They also have lounging areas, and indoor stage, an outdoor stage, and Starbucks. Check in was easy. I just went to the line and the people working the counters were decent. I did have to ask about the hold on my card. It is like any other place you stay, they put a hold and then the money will be put back onto your card if there were no issues/damages/lost items. The casino area looked okay. The Skywalk Arcade is located in the Nugget Casino Resort on the second floor. They are open all day, everyday, 24/7. This arcade room offers a bunch of games from prize machines to arcades. The Arcade room splits into two separate rooms directly across from each other. They have a few tables and chairs so parents has some where to sit and watch their kids. The ticket redemption or prize counter is located in that same room. The other has two vending machines. One has snacks and the other has drinks. If this hotel had not been the concert venue, we would not have stayed here. The room was clean, and the shower had decent water pressure. The staff was pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel needs cleaning and attention. The swimming pool and hot tub had cloudy water. Plan on waiting a long time for elevators. Trash piled up and spilling over in cans near the elevators. For days. The smell was horrible! The room was also hot and the AC barely worked. The room had NO charging capacity near the bed. Only across the room on the desk. Room for 2 chargers only btw in a 2 queen room. 2 washcloths in the bathroom for a 4 person capacity room, and the shower/bathtub has no light so it was like showering in a cave. Not to mention the fact that the soap was approximately the size of that little bit of soap left that you try to use but get so frustrated you end up just throwing it away. Never stay here! Now let's move on to the casino. The casino is hot, filthy and smells! They have absolutely no air filtration so the smoke is very strong. The bars, what can you say about the bars, oh yeah, good luck getting a drink! We waited over 30 minutes for a bartender to acknowledge us and take our order at one bar, moved to another, waited over 20 minutes, moved to another bar and still waited at least 15 minutes! Don't worry! You will never get too drunk at this casino and lose all your money! The machines......half were out of order and the other half sucked. The restaurants! Ugh! The Oyster Bar has the only bright spot! Not for the food but for the service! They were great! And the only restaurant you could actually expect any food at! The Island Cafe closes at 4:00 pm. 4:00 PM!!! Why have it? The diner/24 hour cafe is impossible! Never did get any food there. We went around 4:00 and they told us that as they only had 1 server for the WHOLE RESTAURANT That the wait would be about 40 minutes. We went to the Oyster Bar (again, as we just had dinner there the night before) because we had a concert to go to that evening. That night, after the concert we tried to go there again (as there was no other restaurant or food available on property at nearly 11:00 pm after the concert). The wait was over an hour! Holy cow! No market/store or grab and go, no burger bar, nothing!!! I just went to bed, then realized I had the entire next day and night in this hell hole when I went downstairs in the antique elevator and told them I was checking out the next day and would find another hotel. I demanded a refund. The night assistant manager agreed but told me I'd have to contact my third party booker to process the refund. The next day, I contacted my third party booker who told me I'd need this agreement in writing. I went to the front desk and could not even get the day manager out of the office to talk to me. She would just tell the teenagers out front what to say (which was wrong) and stayed hiding in the back office. After I got upset she sent out a freaking sticky note with an ok to refund note on it! Needless to say that this did not fly with the third party booker. I still have to take this further, but do not fear! I'm retired and have nothing else better to do! lol. While I was dealing with these super "helpful" employees, namely Haley and Jessica, my husband was attempting to cash in our tickets from the casino. I went to the show at The Nugget in Sparks Nevada on the 9th of August 2026, but I was kicked out of the venue after only the first song played by Shinedown! I saved my money for 3 months to go to this show. I purchased 4 GA tickets, booked a room for 2 nights at the resort, and purchased 2 shirts at the merch table. The Nugget Security hand cuffed me and escorted me out of the venue without any reason or explanation given. I can only assume it was because I was dancing at the punk show! I was the only one, that I saw, to be kick out. This was absolutely and completely wrong and it was a mistake to remove me from the venue just for dancing. It was a punk show, people dance! That's the reason we go to the punk rock show! There was no warning, there was no communication, there was no signs up that say no dancing... the Nugget Security was completely out of control! My 2 sticking points about this situation are; First, did anyone in my vicinity complaine about my dancing?! Because if not, then who was upset about me dancing!? And second, did they think I was a threat of maybe being violent toward the other people or perhaps myself, or even a threat of damaging property?! Because if so, then WHY did they just release me back into the casino!? A place where there are maybe 3 or 4 times more people and would make me even more at risk of harming someone else, myself, or property. I made a formal complaint directly to The Nugget's guest services immediately after being ejected. My girlfriend emailed the management staff about the situation. And I left a voice message for the head of security at the Nugget. All have gone unanswered! We have not received any response from The Nugget. I didn't get to see this part but my girlfriend told me that at the end of the show, Shinedown wanted to play an encore song or two but The Nugget Security rushed them off the stage! If this is true then The Nugget would be completely in the wrong! If it wasn't for the rock show, it would have been an absolute ghost town inside that casino on that night. Shinedown was the only reason they had so much business on a Sunday night! I love this band and I have been a fan since middle school, way back in 2002/2003. What is in my financial means to support a band I love is to purchase tickets when they come to town and buy merch from them, but The Nugget took that away from me! Everything else was just slow. Our room? We didn't notice it at night but next morning we found the stained comforter we had been sleeping on. Plus a bevy of toe nail clippings on the floor. Notified the front desk and they gave us a $40 food credit and will "deep cleaned" the room while we were out. We ate at the Oyster House which I chose specifically because of their Creole Gumbo. It was everything I hoped it would be. The 10am bingo session is fun, it wasn't as smokey as I thought it would be which was a great thing since I have a smoke allergy. I genuinely do not understand how this room was considered acceptable to rent to paying guests. Especially guests that paid alot of money There were disgusting splatter stains on the walls and ceiling that looked absolutely revolting, grime and smudges all over furniture and mirrors, dirty drawers with marks and buildup inside, visible filth on surfaces, and stains on the bedding. Every time I looked closer, it somehow got worse. It felt dirty, neglected, and honestly unsanitary. I paid for a clean, safe place to sleep, not a room that made me question whether anything had been wiped down at all. Housekeeping clearly missed the entire assignment here because this did not look cleaned, inspected, or cared for in any meaningful way. For the amount charged, this was embarrassing. BUT I played Bingo today for a lot of money $25,000 for the last prize something happened today at the Bingo that was ridiculous after somebody won the 25,000 there's two consolation prizes one for 5000 and one for 2500 the lady drops the balls after somebody Bingo on the 25,000 my number was in the hopper to get on for the next consolation prize they did not honor the number we're playing for a lot of money here. My friend and I went to the movies. Then she said let's go to the Nugget and play a little bit. We walked in by the Oyster bar. A few people at the bar, but the Casino seemed so empty, yet why on a Saturday night? Maybe football play offs. I went to the bathroom. The bathroom was nice and clean. We headed over to where the bar use to be by the showroom! I loved that bar so much and truly miss it and the bartenders. We sat at the machines by the old bar for most of the night. The cocktail waitress was attentive even though we weren't drinking. For the amount of time we sat there you'd think we'd win some! Machines were very tight, maybe that's why the place is empty. So we played Keno games all evening and we had a good time! On our way out we decided to stop at the Hot Peppers game. It's one of my favorites!! We started to win, it was a great feeling after being a loser all evening. We wanted the big win, like everyone does but, no such luck The best part was spending time with my Friend. Arrived on Saturday August 8th around noon, went in to inquire about possibly checking in. Seen other guests leaving front desks with keys, finally get up to the window, the person helping me does not even touch the computer says "we don't do early check in, we have no rooms". Never asked my name, reservation number, nothing. Just said come back later. I go back back out to my husband and he says well let's go get lunch and we will come back. We come back an hour later and decide to park and go use the self check in and see if we can get a room. Should have used that the first time, we had our pick of many rooms and the machine had way better customer service. Next day we are going to go to dinner at Rosie's Cafe before the concert that has been planed since November 2025. They only have one server so they are turning everyone away. Come to find out they do this all the time during shows to redirect guests to more expensive restaurants. We go to the oyster bar and get seated and they are not prepared either for all the guests they are getting. Service was very slow. So slow we are watching people get up and leave without ever getting water at the table after being there 20 minutes. We were still eating and our waitress was taking our food away. We had to ask for it back and wait for new to be prepared and brought. Number 3 The Venue. I get it's an outdoor venue but you can barely watch the opening acts because of the sun directly in your eyes. Need to put some kind of back sunshade for the guests. Then the curfew. The bands have to cut the sets short because of the curfew and thats not fair to the band or the crowd. We are paying just the same as the other people on the tour dates and we should get the same experience. Just because they built around the venue is not our fault. 4th the pool. Was not very clean. Could be a clearer. It was a green color. They also do not enforce the no running rule with the children and also the no children in the hot tub under 14. We went down after 8pm and it was filled with kids swimming circles splashing and jumping in. The attendant just sat in the corner of the office and said nothing. They kids were standing on the waterfall and jumping off that. Would I got back? I don't know. If I am going to spend that amount on money on rooms with rude service and have to have shows cut short I might just travel further for a better experience. read more

Hotel and casino was good. Rooms were clean and price was good. Our issue was the Valet. When checking out they put all of the keys into 1 bowl and the Valet picks them out of the bowl. So they are not getting the cars in order of when people pay for Valet. We waited 1 hour and saw people who came out after we did get thier car sooner. Suggestion- put up a big wooden board with hooks on it and order them so people who pay for Valet first get thier car first. Or get lots of bowls or baskets and put 1 set of keys in each basket and put them in order so again on the Valet counter so the Valet can get the car in the order of people who paid Valet read more

My husband and I enjoy going to the Nugget. We enjoy playing table games and slots. My fave machines I've named Creepy Dude, Josie and Elmer are very generous to me! In addition to gaming, we do stay throughout the year at the hotel (Resort Tower) with comps, enjoy dining throughout the resort, the annual Rib Cookoff and concert events! The rooms are clean and spacious. Even though we live close, we enjoy our staycations. Looking forward to having fun and winning at the Nugget in 2026. read more

Had 1 washcloth for 2 people, asked for another and never got it. The elevator situation is a joke. They don't service some floors (one side) but it isn't noted which floors. Slow, shaking, elevators. Ran out of toilet paper and they were too busy to send any up. Paid for valet parking which is $10 a day and when we brought our car back they were too full to accept valet service so paid for service and had to self park. Parking garage is a long way away from the actual rooms. Ice maker on our floor was broken all 3 days we were there. Overall not impressed and definitely would not recommend. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment with our stay at the Nugget Casino Resort from June 10 through June 15 of this year. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below the standards we expected. Before checking in, I specifically requested a room that did not face the train yard because I was concerned about the noise. Despite that request, we were assigned a room overlooking the train yard, and the train noise continued throughout the night, making it very difficult to sleep. Upon entering our room, I immediately noticed how dusty it was. I called the front desk and was told housekeeping would come and dust the room, but no one ever did. I also found the plastic twist-off cap from a children's food pouch on the carpet. I reported it to the front desk the very first night, and I was assured it would be removed. It remained on the floor for our entire five-day stay, making it obvious that the room was never properly cleaned or vacuumed and our sheets were never changed! Another major issue was the air conditioner. Even with it set to the coldest temperature, the room never became comfortable. It remained hot enough that I needed a fan. Before our arrival, I had called the hotel and was told a fan would be available, so I would not need to bring my own. However, when I contacted housekeeping, the employee was very rude and immediately told me they did not have any fans. After I explained that I had been promised one before our stay, she reluctantly said she would "see what she could do," but no fan was ever provided. To make matters worse, only one elevator was operating during our stay, resulting in extremely long waits every time we needed to go to or from our room. Since returning home, I have made every effort to contact someone regarding these issues. I have attempted to send emails to four different email addresses provided by the hotel, and every one has been returned as undeliverable. I have also called numerous times and was repeatedly given different email addresses that likewise did not work. I left a detailed message for the hotel manager, along with my phone number, requesting a return call. To date, no one has contacted me. I am extremely disappointed not only with the condition of the hotel and the poor customer service we received during our stay, but also with the complete lack of response afterward. I expected much better from a resort with the Nugget's reputation. I hope someone will finally take the time to review my concerns and respond appropriately. As it stands, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Nugget Casino Resort to others or consider staying there again! read more

We rented a room, that was not cheap for July 4 so my GF and her kids could see the fireworks and experience "Star Spangled Sparks". The room was awful. The smell was nauseating, humid and dirty. Down at the event, the Nugget sets up very few tables to eat at. But, all but maybe a half dozen were occupied by people as early as 3pm were being "saved" for other people by using strollers, ice chest, etc. to keep people from having a place to eat their overpriced food. I've stayed here for 5 nights in a suite (room 950). The room was bigger than I expected. Had a nice view of the train tracks. The view on the other side of the hotel was better. The train tracks did make a lot of noise at night but they can't control that. Not a lot of water pressure from the shower and the tub is slightly small but manageable. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. There was not enough lighting in the room. The lamps provided most of the light and they all had to be turned on/off individually. My fridge still had someone's left over food in it but the cleaning staff took care of that quickly. The staff here was amazing. Cannot say enough good things about them. From the baker to the front desk to cleaning and security, I enjoyed every interaction with them. My least favorite part of staying here is the fact I could hear EVERYTHING from the room next to me. They were loud until I turned on the TV and they could hear me. They suddenly got really quiet even though my TV was not loud so I'm assuming they could hear me as well. We used to stay at the nugget every time we went to Reno. The last time we tried to make a reservation we were jerked around and bounced around and sent to a third-party for the reservation. We had to cancel our reservation and were informed that $38 of the money that we had deposited would not be refunded even though we were told when we made the reservation that we would be refundable up to two weeks before the reservation never been treated so rudely by the nugget in the past and we've decided we're done with them. Don't get caught trying to stay here. My restart fee was the same as the stay pool was so cold you could not swim and free parking valet was 10.00. Room phone did not a work had to use my own to call front desk. So what is resort fee for cost 400.00 for 2 night stay 200. Of it was resort fee. If you do stay here do not use the Nugget web it sends you to a 3rd party and while you think your paying for your stay. It's a SCAM to get you to leave a card for deposit. HORRIBLE! SW Airlines gives this hotel 4 stars? I would give it zero stars if I could! On a 4 night stay, in first room (Resort Tower) I got locked in the bathroom because the door handle was broken. Thank goodness, my daughter was still in the room and could let me out. We immediately went back to the check-in desk and they didn't even apologize for what happened. They moved us to a different room - it was after midnight so we didn't notice till the next morning how dirty the room was. Hair on the towels, mold on the shower mat and the fridge didn't work. Next morning, back to the check-in desk and still no apology and staff is grumpy. They moved us to the Casino Tower in a "Hospitality Suite." We thought OK, now this should work! NOPE! This room had 2 bathrooms and the master shower did not drain fast enough so by the time you were done taking a shower, you were ankle deep in water. The front bathroom only about a fourth of the water was coming out of the shower head and the rest of it was still coming the spout. The worst part of this room was the noise coming from the train yard at the back of the hotel. All night long you heard loud bangs as they were connecting each train car. read more

I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting given the very reasonable rate for the rooms and yet my expectations were still not quite met. Having been so removed from smoke-filled establishments for a number of years, the first thing I did notice from the room was the overwhelming smell of smoke in my "non-smoking" room. Why bother indicating a room is non-smoking when the cigarette smoke from the casino wafts in and out of every orifice as if I had lit up right then and there. Stale smoke at that. The rooms themselves do not appear to have been updated in...well, ever. The sheets on the bed were scratchy and "pilly" and the bed itself was rock hard. The Standard King room I was in was extremely spacious and would have been a great place to get some work done between conference sessions if the wifi were consistent but instead, the free wi-fi worked sometimes albeit slow and choppy so I ended up using my hotspot more often than not, but cell reception inside wasn't optimal either. In the bathroom were more surprises. A dirty towel was left on the edge of the tub. By dirty, I mean a hand towel that was crusty and had makeup remnants on it. I used one of the folded up towels to swat it to the floor where it stayed for the entirety of my stay. The plumbing is odd as well since I could only manage to get the toilet to flush correctly every 3rd time. Other items to note - Housekeeping is BY REQUEST ONLY. With most hotels you have to remember to put up the Privacy Please placard to avoid housekeeping interruptions but that's not needed here since they will NOT clean your room unless you request it. A Few of my colleagues did request that housekeeping provide them with a few extra towels and found an unexpected "housekeeping tip" added to their bill. The two main restaurants in the hotel get rave reviews on yelp and we were hoping to try them, but could never get a reservation so plan ahead. Rosie's cafe was nice and the meals I enjoyed over the 3 day trip were great, but they were not consistent. A colleague ordered the same meal 2 different times and the end result was night and day. The Starbucks in the lobby accepts mobile ordering which is definitely nice - unless of course you like "pod coffee" and don't need more than a sugar packet to add to your morning beverage. Pleasantly surprised at the freshness and quality of the Island grill - their Poke bowl was nice. I never visited the pool because every time I walked by it was wall to wall with other guests and families so clearly it's a good place to be and the kids all seemed to be having a great time. Same kids were likely the ones running screaming up and down the halls all hours of the day and night, but I can't blame the hotel for the behaviors of their guests. read more

I advised her that I was here last week around midnight and I was scheduled to have free play til Th and start again Fri. If there is a cut off or time period ? Overall, we liked this casino resort. We're used to the atmosphere of Vegas casinos so seeing the casino here was a bit of a let down especially on a Friday night. There were people but it wasn't as happening and definitely much smaller than the other casinos we've been to. We got here late so couldn't experience the pool for ourselves but we walked by it and it is pretty big and fun. Parking is free and there were a good many spots to park. It is connected by a covered jet bridge to the casino, which is nice. There is a constant smoke smell everywhere, typical of Nevada casinos. Our room was great. The bed was super comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The AC was strong and they had black out curtains so we could sleep in. Outside of providing two paper cups, there was nothing else - no coffee or tea. There was a mini fridge, but no microwave. We forgot toothpaste and were told that we have to buy it from the gift shop. We were able to check in and check out from the kiosk. The resort tower is newer than the casino tower. For eg, the elevators going to the resort tower had the added security of needing room key for floor access. No such thing for the casino tower. All in all, we were looking for a cheaper place to stay in Reno for a night and I think we got our money's worth. But if you are looking for more amenities and a better casino experience, I would try some of the other casino options. read more

We went over Labor Day weekend n they put on the rib cook off from different localities. Lots of different types of rib recipes, different foods too from the potato swirls to New Orleans delights. The other booths were fun too. The nugget put on a buffet with unlimited ribs, ice cream, wine, beer, fruits, salads, corn muffins etc. We were on overload of ribs !!! The only thing that saved this visit to Sparks was a visit with old friends. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THE NUGGET! Parking was a nightmare with minimal/negligible valet service. The casino floor was crowded with unruly, unsupervised, under-gambling-aged patrons which made safe maneuvering nearly impossible and made us wonder where were the security personnel? read more

The worst casino hotel I've ever stayed at. Casino floor is small, reeks of cigarette smoke, has one overcrowded craps table, and is full of rigged slots. Our room was right next to the freeway, elevator lobby, and ice machine. You could hear them all night. Almost all of the elevators were broken/"under maintenance". You had to wait 10-15mins just to get a cab to the upper floors. We ran out of bathroom soap and when we asked the front desk for more, the bald guy with glasses was rude and dismissive. Soap didn't come for another 40mins. Half the arcade games are broken and overcharge your game card. Strongly DO NOT recommend staying here, especially for the outrageous $50+ resort fee. Stay at another casino and actually be able to win back the extra money you spent to stay there instead. read more
