Please ignore the negative reviews here. They must have been visiting another restaurant lol! As others have mentioned, the concept is similar to Babe's except Grandma's food is a actually seasoned! You pick your entree (fried chicken, smoked chicken, catfish, pork chops) and sides are served family style. The food is AMAZING. Chicken is crispy, flavorful green beans (heads up, they have bacon) creamy mashed potatoes. OMG, the biscuits are so fluffy and come fresh out of the oven. And they have (not too sweet) cornbread! As for desserts, I only tried the banana pudding and I highly suggest making some room for it at the end of your meal. It's REAL banana pudding (no mix, no pre made slop) which is rare to find out at a restaurant. The service was top notch. All of the staff members were so sweet and friendly. We never had to ask for anything because they anticipated every request. Be sure to check out the pics of grandmas on the wall above the plaatic covered sofa (too cute). The value and the taste of the food is amazing! It's served family style but you can get it to go. You get salad, two homemade biscuits, mashed potatoes, separate gravy (brown or white), creamed corn, green beans and a vegetable of the day which was pinto beans today but they rotate several other options. A lot of the servers are young but are welcoming and being trained very well. Our waitress, I believe it was Addison, was super sweet and very knowledgeable about all of the food options. Since we couldn't substitute the pieces of meat we wanted for our fried and smoked chicken, she brought us the additional piece after returning with our order. The smoke chicken was the most flavorful but full of spices, so be mindful if you have a sensitivity to spice. My first visit here was a disappointment, which is unfortunate because I drove an hour based on a coworker's recommendation. She told me the food was excellent, and she was right. The food was good, and our waitress, Kelly, was friendly, knowledgeable, and did her part. However, the overall experience and customer service were not acceptable. When we were seated, the table still had water spots on it, which made me think it hadn't been cleaned properly. I asked the host to wipe it down. Then, after placing my order, I noticed water on my shirt. I looked up and saw nothing except a vent above us. As I continued eating, more water dripped onto my lower arm. At that point, I moved my food out of the way and asked to speak with a manager. I waited...and waited. The waitress eventually came back with the check and said the manager would be right over. I waited again. No one came. When I asked if the manager was still coming, I was told she was helping another customer with a transaction, but I looked over and didn't see anyone at the counter. No apology, no communication, nothing. I had other plans and didn't have time to keep waiting. Basic communication would have gone a long way. Looking up at the ceiling, I noticed several vents that looked broken or missing pieces. That alone tells me this wasn't a one time issue. For a $69 meal, I didn't feel valued as a customer, and the lack of urgency or concern from management confirmed that. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I stopped by for a to go meal. Ordered the pork chop. It came with a salad, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy and cabbage. No collard greens today. And I don't recall macaroni and cheese being an option today either. The corn was good. Mashed potatoes were seasoned well. Gravy was pretty tasty. Green beans were a no for me. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was piled on top of a plate of chicken. They need to redo their menu and remove the "s" because there's no way I'm paying that price for only pork chop ever again. So far I've tried the fried chicken, catfish, and chicken fried steak - all were wonderful. They even make their tartar sauce. That is a huge plus for me. One couple did get up to leave but was brought back by the owner? or manager? to offer a better service and experience. I was not provided with a menu or pricing just ; "what can I get you; we have.....". After seeing others being presented with a menu it would have been nice to know that I could have purchased à la carte sides. I really wanted to some yams but didn't know it was an option. What was most disappointing, was the number of people coming in and out of the kitchen ( who did not belong there ) off the street to talk to the management and friends etc.; no gloves used by servers when preparing and handling food AT ALL - ex. Wiping aprons to clean hands; touching biscuits that slipped off spatula while plating, etc. I asked for additional corn and the server took my container back to the kitchen and filled the dish back up with the serving spoon still in the bowl. I could have used that spoon to eat with - ijs. Food handling and sanitary practices from servers was bad during my visit. Food handling is a big deal for me -- while this may happen 'behind the curtain' in many restaurants --I don't need to continuously see it during my experience. This is the primary reason I cannot give a higher rating. I say all this to say, I may give it another chance in the future but I'm waiting until they have had some time to fine tune some things. I have been highly anticipating trying the food at Grandma's Country Kitchen. I finally had an opportunity to stop by yesterday with my son. I was extremely disappointed. 1st the salad is green iceberg lettuce "only" with a homemade dressing that is too sweet and not good. They bring the salad out with biscuits which were average. When it came time to order, I almost ran out of options. All of their meals are $18.99 except the fish which is $19.99. It's all the sides you can eat in the restaurant. I asked about the wings as to whether they are whole wings and was told they are not. I asked if I could order all drums and was told no, you get 3 drums and 3 flats and they are small. I asked about the fried chicken. You get 2 pieces dark and 2 pieces white and cannot mix or match. I asked about the pork chops which should have been pork chop because for $18.99 plus tax, you only get 1. The pork chop plate is the only one you can order extra meat so if you want an extra pork chop, it's $8.99. Then came the sides. She asked if I was familiar with Babe's chicken then proceeded to say the sides of the day were mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and candied yams. They automatically bring all the sides to your table. I finally decided on chicken fried steak which tasted a little sour. The waitress said they could not take it back and still would have to charge for it. I asked for a to go container because I was taking it home. She comes back with 2 clear bags then explained only the meat and biscuits can be taken to go. You cannot take any sides nor to go drinks which were 2.99 each but that's average. When she brought the check I noticed an 18% service charge on my bill and when I asked, she said the tips are automatically included. My brother took the ladies in the family out for a Pre Mother's Day dinner. It's a huge space which is very good. We were seated when our entire party arrived. The meal began with iceberg lettuce and dressing which was odd to me. No tomatoes or cucumbers. However the dressing was pretty tasty. We were served biscuits and cornbread which were delicious. The service was good. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. We had a table full of hot fried chicken that was seasoned well and came out fresh and hot! My brother loved his chicken fried steak. It was crispy. My mom and sister were disappointed in the pork chop. The breading was falling off and you can tell it wasn't dried properly before frying. My disappointment was with everything that happened afterwards. The sides were supposed to be family style but they gave us single serving sizes. We were ready for some greens, corn bread dressing and sweet potatoes but they rotate sides daily. We ended up with only green beans, mashed potatoes and okra being offered that day. We were told that we couldn't take any of our leftovers home except for the meat. Then they gave us a plastic bag to use. No containers allowed! Needless to say, I was actually offended. We did not ask for anything extra. So, why we couldn't take our leftover food to go is ridiculous. It probably will just be trashed. I paid for it but I can't take it home? I drove 45 minutes to sample this restaurant and it did not deliver. If you are accustomed to this type of service then try it out. It was not a great experience for me and my family. read more

I had the best time at Grandma's yesterday. My mother and I stopped by after church. The wait time was reasonable for a Sunday. The staff was incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. They played the best gospel hits and it truly felt like dining with family. It was very nostalgic. The food was amazing. I have had all of the proteins except the country fried steak and pork chop, but have not been disappointed AT ALL. My guest has had the pork chop and raved about it. I have had the banana pudding and had to ask for another, it was that good. I find the prices are fair and they clearly state how the menu works. Here is my issue with the negative reviews on here. I knew this was going to happen to them because of who the owners are (please read between the lines). The people who have a negative review are allowed their opinion but I beg you please go to their profile and read the reviews they have left for others. The two people who have a bad review, you can see, only post negative reviews. Again, they are allowed to say what they want but I have found people that only speak about negative experiences only are normally the problem. I challenge you to think about that you only want to highlight the bad experiences at businesses, you want to be mean and hateful. If you only know how to post negative how can anyone not believe the problem is you. I stand on this and feel like those two negative reviews just want to complain. Can't make this stuff up and when we attempted to inquire about this, was advised that we had to get up and go to another table and get our food that is all on a platter and share sides that are not sharing size.
