Where do I start? The place is okay but I doubt I'll be back. The waitress doesn't know half of the menu and what it contains. We made multiple questions about it and what certain items were and she had no clue. This threw me off and started the vibe wrong. Additionally, she didn't seem too friendly, like she was too shy or whatnot. When asked to provide utensils, the waitress provided one set when there was 3 of us. As for the food itself, it wasn't terrible but nothing crazy. The prices themselves were higher than I expected. All in all, not a great experience and I most likely won't return. read more

Breakfast definitely yes However the cheesesteak sun for $13 no! The filling in the sandwich barely filled the styrofoam container that the potato salad came in. The roll was stale. Definitely disappointing. I was not looking for a cheesesteak like we can get in Philly but this was a VERY poor rendition of a cheesesteak and VERY overpriced. This family owned cafe is run by a sweet lady who is very proud of her family. I came with a coworker and wasn't all that hungry, I ordered an arepa, which was very good. We went when she originally sold it and were not happy so didn't go back until this weekend when we found out Grandma was involved again. A good breakfast at this local spot on this Sunday morning. Grandma's is hopping on Sunday morning, with a full house of COVID spaced tables and a steady flow of to-go orders. It was clear that the kitchen was straining to keep up. A very good problem to have, I would say. I opted for 2 eggs, over easy, bacon and pancakes. The eggs and bacon are well prepared and piping hot. Pancakes arrived lukewarm, but still delicious. The western omelet was great. Nice and fluffy and filled with freshly chopped veggies. Substituted sliced tomato for the toast at no charge, a nice touch. As long as you're not in a hurry, this is a great spot for some delicious diner food. read more

I stopped in and ordered breakfast typical eggs, toast, bacon, and home fries. They brought me scrambled eggs, over medium eggs (two plates), sausage I ordered bacon. I only received bacon, toast and after 1-1/2 hours left as they were serving people after me even though I was there before them. I confronted 3 workers stating it was the wrong eggs and I didn't order sausage. One worker said I got the wrong order brought to my table but never got my order it was weird. I will not return. I left paying only for bacon and toast as did the 3 people in front of me. They need better management and follow orders as they're placed. read more

We picked going to Grandma's Diner based on the name. We love diner food. The menu includes breakfast items, a few sandwiches, salads, and side items. I was expecting more--meatloaf, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, vegetables. An expanded menu would be nice. I thought the prices were high for the portion sizes received. The roll for my chicken Philly sub was not much larger than a hotdog bun. It was $13.63 with a side item. I paid $1.11 to upgrade to onion rings from french fries. The service was friendly and efficient. We met the owner and found out that she had bought the place from the original "Grandma" a few months ago. I hope that she will work it out and make the portions adequate for the price. The menus posted online from the previous owner look better. read more

We were seated in a section of seats that faced a section of booths. I did not care too much for the way the table seating was arranged but I did not complain because it was not a big issue. The service was a bit slow starting out. It took them a little while to take our order. But after that we were able to get our food in a timely manner. The scrambled eggs and cheese we ordered were enough for two and were cooked just right. The bacon strips were cooked to my liking and the waffle was just okay. There were little black specks on the waffle which were a turn off for me.Perhaps the grill needed cleaning.The syrup was very tasty though!!! The high light of our breakfast was that we were able to meet "Grandma" who was very pleasant and friendly with a ready smile. We had brunch here today. The food was good and the staff was great. My only complaint was the air. It was very warm in the restaurant. It was obvious everyone was hot. Horrible food. The waitress had a terrible time taking our order as she didn't speak or understand English well at all. I ordered a double decker turkey sandwich. The bacon tasted metallic and there literally was only ONE slice of turkey on the sandwich. I asked for whole wheat bread. They gave me potato bread. We have eaten here many times and it has gone down hill!! There is no hustle except by one young man, steak and eggs steak was sooo fatty, home fries horrible and came out after I had eaten eggs and steak. Husband ordered chipped beef on biscuit said was excellent but ordered a scrambled egg which came out when he was finished. I worked at a diner long ago and it is the easiest meal to get out fast!! We ordered the breakfast combo and breakfast burrito, both of which took forever to get started due to the three different teenage servers they had coming to clarify our order every couple minutes. I am a new customer and tried this establishment because my wife and I believe in supporting small businesses. I will be providing feedback for 2 separate take out orders. 1) I have a family of four and we ordered approximately $50 dollars worth of food. I had a GROUPON voucher. In the voucher description there were no restrictions. We were told the order would be ready in 20 - 30 minutes. We arrived to the diner in about 30 minutes, we called to pick up our food and it was never made. In addition they wouldn't accept our vouchers. We all have been impacted in some way by COVID-19, but to encourage customers to buy a voucher and then don't accept is not a smart business practice. You are upsetting your customer before they even try your food. We waited 30 - 45 minutes outside the diner. It took 1 hour 15 minutes for our order to be completed. In one platter the home fries (red potatoes) were severely under cooked. My wife ordered steak and eggs. It had little to no seasoning, the food tastesd bland and was very unfulfilling. We were really disappointed. NO ONE WANTS TO PAY FOR RUSHED FOOD. YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS THAT WAY. We waited for a very long time, so at least take the time to make sure the food is prepared well. I called and explained to a gentleman our experience and he said he would let the owner know. The owner was gracious enough to credit back the money we paid. 2) We decided to give this restaurant another chance. We ordered approximately $50 worth of food. This time I bought a gift certificate for there restaurant from restaurant.com. I figured to pay it forward. When I arrived the restaurant worker told me they are not accepting gift certificates. This was really puzzling because we paid for the value ($25) for this restaurant. Again we were disappointed as when we called to place the order someone should have told us that we are not accepting any vouchers gift certificates etc. We didn't use our gift certificate for this order and was told we can use it the next day to dine in. During a HEALTH PANDEMIC some customers do not want to risk their life to dine in at a restaurant to use a gift certificate or voucher. This makes no sense. My suggestions is to just remove the voucher offer in GROUPON and don't sell restaurant.com gift certificates. The other option is accept them ALL the time. In the restaurant business you may only get 2 chances to win over a customer or you may never see them again. After picking up our food we noticed hair in 2 of the four meals ordered. So we obviously didn't eat those meals, and our money was wasted. I didn't bother calling the diner because my wife was so mad, as I encouraged her to give this place a chance again. This hopefully is a review that the owner can use to help improve their business during this difficult time. read more

Ate here the morning of July 10 2019. Sad to say I was the only person in the resturant. Food was pretty good, steak and eggs with home fries and rye toast. I will definitely eat here again Louis, waited on me and was very kind. The breakfast menu is standard diner faire,but Louis is from Uruguay and his wife is from Venezuela. I tried an item from each category, lunch, breakfast and the international menu. The steak and cheese came on a soft roll, real steak and not the crumbled stuff you find in some places. The empanadas are not the Cuban style but rather the Venezuelan type. One of my favorites is the steak arepa which is authentic. The omelette is made of real eggs and not of buttermilk that some places use. However, the waffle was not a favorite of mine. Best & cheapest breakfast in Wake Forest. I always order blueberry pancakes. The buttermilk pancakes are large, flavorful and loaded with blueberries, for the low, low price of $3.50 ($3.00 without the blueberries). My wife gets a BLT sandwich that is perfectly cooked for $4.50. The staff is always welcoming, very friendly and attentive. Grandma does exist and works the tables to make sure everyone is happy. It is a hidden gem worth finding, located near Walmart. read more
