This was some of the best bar/american food I've had in awhile! I came here absolutely starving on a Sunday night ~6:30 and was seated on the patio right away! The patio was very pretty, there was a bar that extended all the way outside, and there were umbrellas for almost every table! We were able to park just down the street in a pay to park space, but on Sundays parking is free! I did wait a little longer than I would like for the food to come out, it seemed like it took forever to get the appetizer (but I didn't time it and I was hungry so take that with a grain of salt) and then a good amount of time to get our main course. Our beers were refilled before we ran out, so we survived somehow. Now for the food-- for an appetizer, we ordered the fried pickles. I prefer spears over chips, so I was excited! They were very crunchy, some of the breading was falling off when we got them, and the pickle spears were very slim, so I would say they were pretty average! For our meals we ordered buffalo wings, skillet mac and cheese, and a Margherita Pizza. The wings were almost like fried chicken rolled around in sauce, without being too crunchy. The buffalo had a good amount of flavor (outside of being just hot) and we ordered a pound and got ~8 wings. The skillet mac and cheese was also very good. I do wish there was some sort of crunchy crumble on top, but I'll live. It was cheesey with the noodles a perfect al dente softness, without crossing over into being greasy. It was truly *chefs kiss* and easily could have been a meal by itself. My pizza came with two bonus fries on top (score)! It had the large mozerella slices on top that I love (that so many other bars don't use and still call it Margherita)! There wasn't very much Basil/Greenery, but I didn't notice because it was so good! The pizzas are $15 on the menu, but since it was Sunday after 4 p.m. it was only $10, which I thought was a good price. Overall, I would recommend this place to a friend, and will definetly be returning myself. They have a few daily deals I'll need to try out, and I'll definitely have to try brunch! The aesthetic is cute. The hostess was nice and promptly sat us. Service was mediocre. Bottle of mimosas for $15 was a good price. The side of sausage we got was rubbery and not good. The food looks very pretty but in comparison to price a size of things including sides it's over priced. The food wasn't bad but also wasn't anything amazing. The patio is adorable and has a bar out there. Overall, this place is mid. Also out of coffee on Father's Day brunch tsk tsk (had been out for a couple days). I met some friends here for happy hour and had a pretty good time. The inside was smaller than I was expecting, but it does have a large almost 360 degree bar, with booths and tables on the outer edge of the bar. They have a huge outdoor patio, which is where our group sat. There is also a covered outdoor area on the second level of the patio. I will say, the servers were a bit aloof and not very helpful when we tried to get seated with out large group. However, after finally getting two tables together, things went more smoothly. The menu isn't huge, but they have some good options. We went on Thursday, and the special was $6 dip. We got a few buffalo chicken dips for the table and it was really good. The only downside is we finished the chips and still had about half of the dip remaining (poor chip:dip ratio). Our server kindly brought out some more chips, but also charged us for them so there's that. Happy hour runs from 2-6pm Mon-Fri, which includes $4 drafts, $5 fried pickles and $10 pizza. We tried both the fried pickles and pepperoni pizza. The fried pickles come in slices (not the traditional chips) which was interesting. The batter was crisp but also fell off after the first bit. The pizza came out quicker than expected for how crowded the place was, and I enjoyed the thin crust -- also for the size, $10 was a really good deal. Lastly, I tried the GC burger which on paper, probably sounds fancier than it is. The menu describes it as a beef brisket patty, bourbon caramelized onions, smoked bacon, tomato jam, 3 cheese fontina blend, white cheddar & guyere on a pretzel roll. Sides are a la cart (sigh) but I opted for shoestring fries. Overall, it was pretty good and since we had so many appetizers/snacks beforehand, I was able to take half of the burger home for leftovers. All in all, we enjoyed our time here and I will definitely be back to enjoy the patio. Forewarning -- the biggest downside is that parking in this area of Grandview is an absolute PAIN, with only very limited street parking. It is free if you can find a spot, but you will most likely drive around the block a few times before you can snag one. read more

I ordered a bunch of everything: A giant cinnamon roll that fed the table of four and was well worth it. If I'm back in town and need brunch, Grandview cafe is on the list. Sat on the patio for lunch. It was a nice environment. The food was great! We had the spinach dip for an appetizer, my son got a pizza, I got the Haley's diner burger, and my grandmother got the fish with fries. All the food was good and the service was great. This was my first visit to the Grandview Cafe but it certainly won't be my last, I was thoroughly impressed with the food and service. A friend from college whom we hadn't seen in 50 years was in town and Grandview was a centrally located place for my wife and me to meet up with her. Following the advice of my fellow Yelpers, we picked the Grandview Cafe. The decor is classic - the interior has a very comfortable feel and it indeed looks like a traditional old cafe. Our server was excellent - attentive without interrupting. Service was very prompt and efficent. I ordered the GC Burger which came with caramelized onions, smoked bacon, and a blend of 3 kinds of cheese. It was EXCELLENT - one of the best burgers I've had recently. Nothing against the burger - but the gentleman at the next table ordered the fish and chips which looked incredibly good. My wife had the fried chick sandwich and our friend had the chili which she reported was a little spicy. The wife said her fried chicken sandwich was very good. Service and food were both excellent. Parking in this section of Grandview can be a bit challenging but it's worth it. read more

Great outdoor bar with plenty of seating on a three sided bar with the staff in the center hi top and low top tables on the outdoor patio; and with a similar set up inside. Went here for happy hour which is from 2-6PM. Drinks are about $4 and they didn't have much for food on happy hour except $10 pizzas and $5 fried pickles. Parking is limited so you'll have to find a street parking spot around the area. The inside of the restaurant is alright. They have an upstairs, downstairs, and balcony area for outdoor dining which have umbrellas. The drinks were alright and we got a couple of appetizers. Nothing that blew me away. read more

This is a perfect brunch spot in Columbus. You have to get the bucket of mimosa which comes with an entire bottle of champagne and orange juice (the deal is too good not to get). I just hosted a surprise birthday party for my wife at Grandview Cafe and it couldn't have gone any better. Allison was very helpful and thorough throughout the entire planning process, and everything went smoothly the day of the party. The upstairs patio/deck was the perfect venue for a party of our size (roughly 40 people), the food was terrific and the bartenders working the party were fabulous. The Grandview cafe has so much character so much history. From the bathrooms to the bars to the historical photo wall. With so many great Ohio beers.. I had the Hadley burger with the Mac and Cheese they did not disappoint the cheese flavor of the Mac with just the right amount of pepper. This is a tough one to rate. On a positive note, the GC burger was outstanding and very nice craft beers were on Happy Hour pricing of $3/pint! On a negative note, fries weren't fresh and the bartender was a dope. I found this place on the Buzztime website. Having a hankering for trivia, I asked the bartender if they had the NTN Buzztime Playmaker for trivia and she looks at me like I have 2 heads. She then says 'No' so I point them out on the wall behind the bar and ask her 'What are those?' She replies 'I don't know.' After I get my Playmaker and order a second beer, she brings it to the guy sitting next to me and asks him if he wants to open a tab. He says 'What is this?' and I say "My beer! Do you want to pay for it?" He musters something about my Illinois sweatshirt and goes back to flirting with the girl next to him. Got the GC burger and fries. Intentionally ordered it medium, because 9 out of 10 times I do, they come out well done. This was the exception. It was perfectly cooked, and the taste with the toppings was great. The fries were disappointing. A bit cold and old. Saw a pizza come out of the kitchen while I was there which looked really good. It really pains me to update this review with a lower rating. However, my recent experience here was just that, a major pain. Friends and I stopped in around lunch on the weekend. The back patio was bumping but inside was fairly tame. We were greeted when we walked in and taken to a table immediately. After sitting there for roughly fifteen minutes, our server Joe made it to our table and offered water to our group. We were all severely parched, as it was close to 95 degrees outside. We sipped those down fast while we looked over the menu. We were a little bummed that lunch wasn't available but we made it work. From there on, the experience just got worse and worse. After patiently waiting 45 minutes to get our food, we were pleased to finally see it turn the corner and head towards our table. However, only one person got the correct thing and two people didn't get anything at all. After waiting for our server to check in, we asked where the other meals were and he, no lie, looked at us and said it wasn't his job to know what's going on in the kitchen. Our jaws dropped. A few minutes later he came up to my friend and said that he actually forgot to put her order in altogether. He then offered to make it and comp it... but then quickly back tracked and offered 50% off. She unfortunately turned it down, she just wanted to get out of there before her sugar crashed. Meanwhile, the other friend was still waiting for a side of potatoes (that's all she ordered). When they did come out, they were hard as rock. The other friend ordered a caesar salad and for some unknown reason there was bacon added to the top. Not only was this not stated on the menu, but she's a vegetarian. Given how long we waited, she also said screw it. Not to mention, my side came out wrong and there was no opportunity to correct it. At this point we just wanted to get the hell outta dodge. I also have to mention that our server talked back to me two additional times, and with attitude too. Saying things like, I'm talking to her, not you. All of our jaws hit the floor. After what was clearly a terrible experience, we could have at least gotten friendly customer service. Myself and the four other people don't plan on coming here ever again. I understand that people have bad days. I also understand that the kitchen can get backed up, especially right now when there's a clear shortage of staff just about everywhere. What I can't understand is rude behavior and messing up an order and not making it right. Nope, this road ends here for me. read more

It was a beautiful sunny day so naturally we had to find a patio to spend our lunch break. We got seated on the upstairs patio and I was excited because I've never been up there before and it was really enjoyable up there. I got their seasonal special burger which was the habanero havarti burger and sweet potato fries. I absolutely loved it and am hoping it stays on their menu. Service wise it was decent. We were never given silverware or napkins. She said she was going to bring them but never did so we ended up having to go to the bar and ask for them after our meal. Not a huge deal, things happen. I gave this place a chance, but I doubt I'll be back. I ordered the salmon and fish & chips for take out. First, the hostesses were more interested in chatting with each other and looking around the room than talking to me - they didn't even cover the basics, like what my total was before asking for my card :/ Second, everything is super salty and the salmon smells and tastes a bit funky - like it's been in their fridge for a week. It's nice to see restaurants get back to "normal" and so busy, but we were seated on top of two other groups upstairs (less than an arm's length, both left and right). We came in with three adults and a baby in a carrier then were seated at a two person table. Wasn't a huge deal, just propped the baby on my lap, but it was hard not to hear every conversation around us. Brunch & Game Day menu looked great but my omelette came out rubbery, veggies were greasy with less than a dash of cheese. I didn't finish it. Potatoes were good. Atmosphere was more a bar & grill, not a cafe. Unfortunately the bathroom upstairs was a little grungy, probably due to the fact it was hard to see in there because the light fixture had burnt out light bulbs. Pedestal sink with no surface to change a diaper. Asked the staff where we could change a diaper and we just got a shrug followed by an "I'm not sure". We just ate fast and left. Portion sizes have gotten smaller, and we were charged nearly of $50 for two (terribly made) cocktails; we were not told that substituting one shot of mid-tier liquor for another would be an upcharge total of $32. Always LOVE this place, although it is very loud a majority of the time!! But, food is great, drinks are even better. And it's the perfect place for happy hour deals!! Tried their spiked lemonade, blueberry and strawberry were both delicious. And we had the spinach artichoke dip with chips ($6 special when we were there) and the fish & chips. I'm really on the fence between 3 and 4 starts as it's a solid 3.5 stars for me because the food wasn't that great and I probably wouldn't recommend it to others. Our server was great and the patio had terrific ambiance so that was a win. I would return for drinks only. We came for brunch and the food was good but tasted a little bland. The traditional breakfast burrito and potatoes were nothing special and missed that extra kick of wow. It was under seasoned, didn't have cheese (not sure if it's included but it needed it big time) and the tortilla needed a few minutes on the grill top to crisp up. Either way, I had to order a side of sour cream for extra flavor and I do feel that should be included anyways since it's a burrito.
