I had seen this restaurant so many times as I drove or walked by but never tried it until last Thursday. They have outdoor and upstairs seating as well. It was cold though, so we sat inside. We came close to 7 and there was a 15 minute wait. There was one group ahead of us, but we all waited not even 5 minutes. The hostess seemed like she had a long day but when I greeted her, she cracked a smile. She did again when we left. Pass kindness to others, guys. We got a table over by the window. It was packed! Lots of people coming in and out. Even though it's a bar, it seemed family friendly. I saw parents with kids (young and older), even though most of the demographic was young adults. There are a ton of TVs, so I can imagine it would be a fun place to watch OSU games, although that evening they had hockey on the screens. Our server was smiley and checked up on us a lot. My friend and I both ordered the GC burger. The menu talked it up even though it was less than stellar. It was bacon, bourbon caramelizad onion, and tomato jam on a pretzel bun. It was bland and not as flavorful as it could've been. The fries were decent. My other friend ordered the strawberry salad. It was spinach with strawberries, sliced almonds, and goat cheese. It was really good! Nice flavors! She had been before and said the pizzas were really good. A lot of people around us were eating the pizza. Guess I'll have to try that next time. My friend and I both got Mad Moon Cidery's Over the Moon. It was a light cider that tasted more apple-y than usual. I liked it! Made it taste fresh! My other friend got Great Lakes Oktoberfest. Grandview Cafe has recently been improved. It used to be pretty much just a bar. They had food but no one ever wanted it. It has now expanded their menu a bit. The inside is much more classy but casual. Inside is so much better than it used to be. It used to look like crap. They really spruced it up. It hasn't completely changed. There's still the big chandelier hanging from the middle. It helps make the place seem kind of classy. This really is more of a dive that's been cleaned. I had a bourbon. It's about $3 at happy hour. The price is pretty good and it was poured strong. Food is typical of a bar. There's not many good vegetarian options but that's the one bad thing. It has lots of big TVs at the bar. Most people there watching were under control. This is a good alternative to Matt the Millers if you want something that's fancy looking but has better prices. read more

First time at this joint!! Stopped in for brunch this morning with a friend and was seated right away. I thought with the location the place would be POPPIN for Sunday brunch, but like, nah. To be fair they had only been open for ~30 minutes but from what I could tell we were one of maybe five tables. So that was nice. We got a seat along the street -- they had the windows opened up since the weather was nice so it was like sitting outside and inside at the same time. They also have plenty of bar seating and a lot of outdoor patio seating as well. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. For drinks we got the mimosa and one of their spiked lemonades. Both were okay. The lemonade was pretty sugary, so I don't think I would get it again. As for food, I ordered the BLT eggs Benedict with a side of their potatoes. It was pretty damn good if i do say so. Very picky critique -- the eggs were a wee bit overcooked and the tomatoes weren't 100% ripe yet so they were a little chewy. But those two things aside it was an excellent meal. My friend got the avocado toast. It looked super yummy and she really liked it. Not good at all. We had avocado toast which was not seasoned at all. We had the chicken and biscuits which was seasoned but poorly and just wasn't the best, everything was overcooked, the poached eggs in my eggs Benedict were over poached and the eggs Benedict virtually had no salt at all. Visited for the first time on a Tuesday evening. Not super busy and we sat right away. Server came in a timely manner took drink order and then food order when dropping off beverage. A party of 4, three of ordered the same thing, the other, a salad. Food came in expected time, except for one entree. Waiting. Waiting. Server comes by to check on us and doesn't know where my order is. Goes to check. She forgot to put it in. She says she put it in for a quick prep. Waiting. Waiting. Now we have to leave for a concert. She comes by again, seemingly surprised it's not out yet. I tell her to cancel it. She comes back with it in a box saying I can take it and enjoy it after the concert. Well a burger and fries is not going to be much good after a 4 hours concert, so I nibble some fries and take a few bites of the burger, thinking our bill is coming. It's not. Server returns and asks if we want our check (after I told her we needed to get going for a concert). Waiting Waiting. I eat some more out of the box. Pause here: the food was very good. All parties enjoyed their meals, citing tastiness and good portions. So that's how we get to three stars. And on we go... I mistakenly assumed there'd be some compensation for the missed meal. After all, all three others were finished eating before mine even came. But during the waiting time for the bill I was able to wolf down (though not enjoy) most of the rest of the meal while others watched and waited so we could scoot to the concert. The bill came. Full price on my meal, not even comped fries. I'm chalking it up to a mistake by possibly a new server who didn't' want to let the boss know they messed up. But I have to say, I'm hesitant to return here because details aren't paid attention to and care for the customer's satisfaction either isn't a concern or isn't part of the training of the staff. First stop in Columbus. - during Happy Hour. Ordered fish and chips and the Chef Special which was Buffalo Chicken pizza. The Fish was lightly coated and fluffy. Five stars here. Excellent ! The Buffalo pizza was 4 stars. Good but not the World's best. A little too much celery but I wouldn't hesitate to order again. Service was excellent and good atmosphere. We didn't have to wait a long time for food. Waitress was really sweet. My only recommendation is please get more coffee options! They were out of coffee and tea when we went. So we were forced up take a risk and park in the lot across the street near by other business. Decor is pretty cool. The water's stand and bar have a suitcase/luggage theme. Full bar,two floors booths available on the first Plenty of TVs to watch. Services were welcoming, no complaints at all. Check in with YELP and get 10% off! Score! On a Sunday afternoon so you're limited to the brunch menu. They've changed their menu. I wanted to try the chicken and waffle but they only had the doughnut waffle. I love the remodeled Grandview Cafe. We stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning while we waited for our candles to set at the Candle Lab. The French Toast and Waffles is serious brunch goals. Topped with fresh fruit, the thick challah bread is a generous size. The chicken went perfectly with it! They have a good sized brunch menu with plenty of drink options. The order was incorrect, no condiments what so ever, and I asked for a Diet Coke at the beginning of my meal and received it towards when I got the bill. Our server was extremely inattentive. Nice bar environment. Started with the cafe punch with was really good. It's very sweet but not too sweet. The queen bee was only ok compared to the cafe punch. But if you want something half sweet, this would be it. Ordered the wings with the white bbq and sriracha sauce on the side. Both sauces were great! I usually hate when I order wings, and they're fried. But there's were great and I would definitely get them again! You can taste every flavor in the sriracha sauce! I got the smoked salmon since it was the Thursday special with a side of Mac n cheese. 10 minutes later, I found out they had no salmon! So I ordered the chef special pizza, which was Buffalo chicken. The pizza was great!!! Would have been better if it had no onions! But I know next time. I was disappointed in the Mac n cheese. I honestly didn't have the highest expectations, but this had a very strong onion taste, and I HATE onions. I didn't crunch on an onion, but the taste is almost overpowering. With an invite from Grandview Cafe, I took them up on the offer to give them another shot. We went again on a weekend and this time it was far less busy then the previous time which worked out well. Staff was very attentive and our waitress, Taylor, did an amazing job. Compared to the last time, there was no issues in how the food came out. This go around, I got the fried chicken and biscuits and gravy. My partner for the omelet and said it lacked seasoning. Flavor of the chicken was very good. Food felt fairly fresh. Both dishes came with roasted potatoes which like the omelette, lacked any seasoning but were cooked well. Like last time, we decided to give the cinnamon rolls another try, because we really want them to be good, but yet again, they were a little bit of a let down. While the icing was remarkably better then the last time, the actual rolls were still hard, dense, and lacked any flavor really. I would seriously recommend reviewing this recipe and tweaking it. S a great concept, but needs flavor. While I originally had my hesitations coming back, I'm glad we did. I can at least now see why so many people do keep coming back. read more

The tomatoes were sliced and baked on top and they were just super juicy and delicious. (I do not like raw tomatoes, but the baked tomato hit the spot!) I would suggest this place for anyone looking for a casual night out or a bumble date! :) My friends shared the wings - they couldn't decide between the sauces, so I suggested they order them naked and ask for the sauces on the side. What a sweet spot. I stumbled across this place after doing a search for popular brunch spots. This one kept coming up and reviews were good. Parking is on the street so be forewarned. We found a good spot that wasn't too far from the entrance but I can imagine how it could be difficult in the evenings or special events. Their lunch menu was small yet had a decent selection of entrees, soups, sides and apps. We had the french onion soup and fish special that included a nice size of fish with slaw, a side and a remoulade type sauce. The mac n cheese was creamy and good, coleslaw was crunchy and yummy as well. The fish was crispy but lacked flavor. I realize that everything can't come salted to your liking but I just found the fish ok even though it's popular with the locals. The service was excellent here, both attentive and kind. I would surely go back to try something else because I loved their whole vibe.also, the music played there was a nice playlist of r&b type music. I'm disabled and need to use walking device. Today I'm going to Grandview Hop and plan to purchase from one of the many food trucks. Thought I'd take food to cafés patio and purchase a couple glasses of wine or a cocktail and enjoy atmosphere for a short period of time at this local bar. I called ahead to be sure this would be ok. Arrived this evening with three members of my family and a group of friends. Our group size was about 10 and our average age was around 40 years old. We were on the east side of the bar and were enjoying drinks, football, food, and company. One of my family members ordered her second beverage after being there for about two hours and was told she would not be served any further with no explanation. As a veteran of late nights in bars and understanding the gravity of maintaining a solid but enjoyable environment for all, decorum is not lost on me. Our group understands you must respect staff, managers, bartenders, and other patrons at all times. Despite the foregoing, one of my family members was told she would not be served further after a 1/2 a drink. She was not intoxicated. There was no reason and there was no explanation. Let me be clear this did not have any racial motivation or homophobic undertones. When I asked to speak to the manager, he stated a line was crossed and he stood behind his bartenders. However, he could not elucidate further. I respect that he should stand behind his team and should enforce rules. That said, he did not provide any explanation about why service was denied. Understanding the moment and maintaining decorum is important for all patrons. But tonight you missed. By the actions of your employees, you lost local and frequent guests. We have visited Grandview Cafe many times in the past with our children, and this service was unexpected and absolutely uncalled for. I have never written a review on here so I don't know if this will matter. I will, however, never bring my family to this establishment again. We will be sharing our collective experience with friends - many of those are local to the neighborhood. We loved this place but are now highly disappointed and will not be back. I've probably been here about 4 times since May. With that being said, this best quality about this place is that it is a good hangout spot. It's in Grandview so you're going to get that vibe. And there are always people to talk to and a nice atmosphere and energy around. The food is OK. You won't walk or think you had a bad meal at all. My favorite thing here is the fish and chips. They give you a big slab of fried fish with a nice sauce to pair. But it's nothing fancy or spectacular. Just solid food you can have a nice conversation over with friends or a date. I have heard a couple friends say that they enjoy the chicken sandwich as well. The service is just OK as well. Some Days you will get fast service, some days you will get slower. But I've never been upset with service either. Overall, as stated about the place is probably best as a social spot.
