The food was average. Home fries were undercooked and the house omelette I ordered was bland. The bathrooms were both out of order, so members of our dining party had to leave to go somewhere else to relieve themselves. We dined in the room with the vaulted ceilings and I could not help but stare at all the dirt and dust clinging to the popcorn ceiling in back of the ceiling fans, hoping that stuff wasn't going to fall into my food. Just left Granite Farms in Scituate, what a waste! Ordered the Seafood Trio and the cook burnt it so bad I couldn't get the food off the dish! Ordered the fried seafood platter and the fish was RAW. Waitress came back and apologized but made us pay for the salad bar! Needless to say how unprofessional the management is there. This was my first and last visit to the Granite Farm. The first thing you smell is cigarettes from the area where you walk into the restaurant (ew!). The waitstaff were eating and licking their fingers at the counter while customers waited. The food was bland and undercooked. When it was Gentlemen Farmer, it was a great restaurant. I used to be a regular at this restaurant. When it was called Gentleman Farmers. Since the "do-over" I hate this place. The new staff that they hired is rude and not attentive. (Sitting at the bar watching the patriots game while my food sat in the window for 15 minutes, getting cold.) The quality of the food has diminished immensely as well. While I used to enjoy going every Friday for fish and chips, I now wouldn't go back if they just got the last fish in the ocean. I think the salad bar doesn't meet health code. It never seems cold enough, just sort of room temperature. If you look up their Board of Health investigations, they have been cited many times for improperly stored food. Despite being a new remodel (the front of house), the place is filthy. Would it kill someone to run a mop under a table every night before you go home?? Having my shoes stick to the floor in someone else's spilled soda is not how I like to spend an evening. Just let the parking lot speak for itself. It's always empty. Great, small town, family restaurant. The food is fresh, prices are great and staff is friendly. Seems like a place for regulars, the staff is always talking with the customers and seems to know them. I've only been a handful of times, but have been impressed every time! We come here once a month for breakfast. I used to get something different each time but ever since I had their chili omelet that's all I ever order. It is delicious! The staff is so courteous. Definitely recommend this place for a hardy home cooked breakfast feel. read more

Having gotten up at 430am in the morning I could not imagine that anything could get me all jazzed up that early . . .but, this place did. We stopped en route to our destination. Upon entering I noticed it was a bar with some booths along the walls. Also, it was dimly lit . . . at first I felt like I was in a bar at night, but soon grew to appreciate the coziness this lighting projects throughout the dining area. Our waitperson (Cheryl/Sheryl) was quick to greet us and friendly. I had eggs over potato w/hollandaise sauce and cheese . . . it was truly amazing! My boyfriend had eggs over hash with beans (he says the beans were "really tasty"). The atmosphere was perfect for someone who'd been dragged out of bed so early in the morning . . .morning news on the TV, the smell of fresh coffee and no harsh fluorescent lights to deal with. And the service was impeccable. A++ across the board. On a sidenote, my boyfriend has been here once before and he was telling me he'd had a Bleu Cheese burger there for lunch a while back and it was very good, delicious fries and fantastic homemade cole slaw! Wasn't sure if I should write this review because growing up in Scituate this was one of my favorite breakfast spots. I don't go here as much for breakfast because Cindy's right down the road is cheaper, tastes better, and they have homemade pastries which are amazing. The one or two times a year I do come here for breakfast it's always ok. Last night my boyfriend and I decided to go for dinner. We ended up walking out of the restaurant after only paying for the drink we ordered. To start my boyfriend couldn't fit in the booth in the back... He's bigger and tall but even I wasn't comfortable. So we ended up at a square table in the middle of the room. I couldn't believe how expensive basic food items were. The specials were way overpriced along with normal menu stuff. A wrap shouldn't be 14 dollars.... Even a special that I have gotten at expensive nice restaurants were more expensive here. I'm not sure how the dinner food is because I didn't even stay long enough to order anything. Staff seemed friendly which was about the only positive thing that happened in the 5 mins we were there. We ended up at Cindy's down the road. Each got 2 meals, 2 drinks, and 2 desserts. Bill was 25 dollars. I'm sorry but I definitely will be continuing to go there when I want a quick, cheap, good, casual, dinner without traveling far. read more

Awful. Food is gross and the service is horrendous. The waitresses and COOK spend more time socializing than doing their job. They sold me a pizza with a burnt top and in cooked dough! Does the cook not see this when he puts it in the box. When I called they kept me on hold. NEVER go back. The food used to be good but has gone down hill drastically. Maybe the owner should think of hiring someone other than people that are not interested in working! read more

THE go to breakfast spot. They always have different specials, muffins are the size of your head, service is quick and for the most part attentive. The place is honestly in need of a major remodel but the food is what keeps me coming back, not the atmosphere. I've also tried their takeout, and dined in for lunch. Food was good, however the service lacked. Growing up in the area, I thought it would be nice to return to where I once went as a teen. Upon arrival I noticed the name change but figured it would still be good and have wonderful people working. I was sadly mistaken. The blonde waitress was rude and mocked customers as well as her peers. Apparently we were in her way and although said excuse me, it was rude and condescending, she was rushing around but yet still found time to gossip about other patrons with another table. Lucky for her she wasn't our waitress but apparently she thought she was a local celebrity by her actions and the way she carried herself. We wanted to leave as it was a slightly lengthily wait, my daughter left her new Retainer and we had called to see if it was Thrown away, it was still there however they hung up on her. This weekend was the 18th birthday party for our granddaughter and we celebrated with 20 of her friends at Granite Farm. The meal was all you can eat chicken, pasta, French fries, soup, salad, and rolls. The servers were excellent and accommodating making sure we had enough to eat. You would think I would learn...decided to give it one more try, and today the beans were actually cold and the spinach in my omelet was 90% string (stem), not much leaves....which really sucks as the service is wonderful! read more

I come here for either lunch or breakfast on Sundays with my Nana and we love it! It is her favorite place to eat and now mine! The service is excellent and they are very personable. They have many regulars, my Nana being one of them and they make you feel at home there. Today I got 2 eggs scrambled with toast, home fries and grilled ham which is to die for. My Nana got a poached egg with an English muffin. Last Sunday we got fish and chips because I believe on Tuesday Thursday and Sundays it is a special which means you can have soup and salad with it! I have never had a bad meal here. Wonderful staff. sometimes if you get there too early the salad bar is not open, just ask. I do not find the floors dirty as one patron said, she must have come there on a "snowy night" which would be impossible to keep the floors clean during business hours. Went for Fathers Day with a Restaurant.com certificate. First thing we noticed walking in at 2pm was how empty it was and how dirty the floors were. Not the best first impression. Our server couldn't have been nicer, however he should have offered refills. My husband and I also shared a fork but I'm sure had we asked for the proper amount of cutlery packs for the table he would have gladly brought more. We started with the soup and salad bar, walking into the back room we again noticed how empty it was and how dirty the floors were back there too. So strange, management should be guiding these kids to clean the floor instead of standing around when it's slow. The soup/salad bar was a little suspect, we didn't feel too comfortable with it. The lettuce was out of a bag of premade and the dressing bottles were not labeled. Soups in my opinion probably come frozen. My husband ordered quesadillas which I was pleasantly surprised by the salsa, it had a nice spice to it. He also got a turkey dinner which he enjoyed. My son had a slice of pizza, looked good. My in laws got dry chicken and ok pot roast. Dessert was probably the best part, I enjoyed my apple dumpling. Would we return? Went to Granite Farm on a Friday night with a party of three and was seated at a window booth next to the salad bar, which was a less-than-desirable location based on the salad bar traffic and nearby employee service area. I ordered the grilled cheese and bacon on wheat bread with french fries and a coffee to drink. The quantity and quality of the food was excellent, with thick, smoky bacon, flavorful wheat bread, and crispy, battered french fries. The waitress didn't visit our table often during the meal,although we did at least get coffee refills. For dessert, I ordered the fried dough bites sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. This unique dessert satisfied my sweet tooth and was very filling (I had to take several bites home with me). My companions tried the apple crisp, which they found to be of average quality and slightly lacking in crispiness. Overall, this restaurant has high quality, American comfort food that is likely to satisfy most customers. However, the seating and level of service were slightly disappointing. read more

This is a family style restaurant with no-frills-dining. My favorite thing to eat here, hands down is the fried calamari. They serve it up in a garlic-butter sauce, with hot peppers and black olives. It is absolutely delicious, and I'd put it up against the calamari at any fine-dining place on the Hill. read more

I had heard about this place from a local resident,so I decided to check it out. My first impression is this is definitely a local eatery. The decor is really,really tacky and old. Lots of dust and cob webs for everyone to enjoy on top of the plastic flowers. The menu was very simple, I asked the waitress about the veal cutlet special. She just stated that it was frozen and I should order the American chop suey. Having no idea what it was I said fine. Well it turns out that's it's macaroni with a watery sloppy Joe topping. Definately microwaved, parts of the dish were still cold and others were very hot. You should pass on this one. My wife ordered a burger, was a little greasy, but as burgers go we've had worst, again frozen product. On the postitive side I ordered a grill cheese for my 2 yrs old grandson, which actually was very good. I also had the split pea soup from the salad bar which was very tasty. The waitress was very friendly she was young about 17 yrs old. She came back once at the end if we needed anything. And finally we were there on a Thursday night, it so happens you felt like you were on a game show. They have an annoucer on a microphone and displaying and reading outloud trivia questions on tv monitors hanging through out the restaurant with customers winning prizes. If this your thing than this is the place to be. If having dinner in a quiet restaurant then you'd better pass.
