Super cute little coffee shop in Half Moon bay! First I will start by saying, the exterior definitely does not match the interior at all. To be honest I was a little thrown off by the white paint with a variety of colorful (spray painted ?) polka dots covering the outside walls. But let that just go to show you to never judge a book by its cover! I absolutely LOVE the interior and decor of the inside of this place. Super cozy and spacious. Would be a great spot of study/working or meeting with friends. Coffee menu is awesome and they make their own granola ( hence the name? :D ). The iced latte ( large -$4) was super good! They also have a variety of other coffee / teas / smoothie drinks as well as a breakfast menu. Gluten Free bagels and scones...take my money! But the service was also lovely, the scones and bagels actually tasted amazing (not too sweet) and my husbands coffee was great. Whenever we are in Half Moon Bay, we will be stopping here. It has all the small town charm and loads of other options we didn't get to try. This place was absolutely adorable! My friend and I came here after visiting the succulent house nearby. We were in need of coffee since our drive was about to be another 2 hours back to our house. The outside is absolutely adorable and so is the inside. I got an iced mocha and my friend got the iced vanilla latte. Neither disappointed. They were tasty and made exactly how I wanted. There are places to sit inside and an interesting trailer park seating area right outside. I imagine there is WiFi since I spotted a few Cafe goers on their computers. It's a quiet and quaint place to do some work or just enjoy a cup of coffee. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd come back. I think the baristas could have been a little more friendly and warm when we arrived but other than that, great tasting coffee!! read more

This used to be a great place but it has gone downhill. The coffee has gotten weak and burnt and the service, aweful. I'm so sad because it was such a great place. The food is still tasty but I had to wait 20 minutes for my bagel sandwich today and they were't busy. Then, when I did get my order it was wrong. Wait another 20 minutes for them to remake it, sigh.. I think that may by last visit here. I hate when that happens to a good place. Hope they can turn it back around. read more

I love this coffeehouse. This is the poster child of "small family-owned business that sells excellent products". Let me get the one con out of the way - they are a little slow. If you're in a hurry and they are busy, then skip this place and go to macdonalds. If you value quality and taste, then this is the place for you! Healthy smoothies, high quality coffee, and the best breakfast sandwiches in the area. Sometimes I order two for myself. They hand-make each sandwich when ordered (I've seen the owner hand cut the tomatoes and onions right before putting it on my sandwich). The pastries are also good (the cookies are excellent). And the granola is of course on point. And the staff are all wonderful. It's a cozy shop, so pre-Covid days we would laze around and read newspaper while enjoying our goods. Even now, I'll call in and order. I always leave this place wanting to make sure it's around for my next trip to HMB. They are the best! read more

I do like Granolas and have been here several times but as a local who frequents this cafe I still feel I need to warn others who might travel farther to come and be as disappointed as I was to see them close several hours early on more than one occasion. I feel as though small businesses have lost the concept of customer service as they very often make their own hours with out warning which is inconsiderate and unprofessional. There's many reasons to support small and local but I refuse to support the lack of consideration for those of us who support you. Food for thought Granolas. read more

Saw this little cafe on the side of the 1, how could I not stop by? Apparently they repaint the outside of the shop every season... how stinking cute is that?? The inside is quite charming, rustic, and heavily elephant-themed. Very cozy, friendly vibes here. Everyone inside seems to have made themselves at home while they are reading or working away on their laptops. I got a Caramel Honey Latte which I burned my tongue on, but it's fine because that's how I like it lol. The extensive menu is terrible for indecisive people like myself; didn't get to try any food but I really dig their "healthy & house-made" jive. Will definitely be coming back! read more

super cute coffee house in half moon bay, just steps from the intersection of hwy 92 & hwy 1. my friend and fellow yelper found this place and suggested it for our post-group run. this turned out to be a great venue b/c 1. they were local (lots of new options on the menu) 2. they had both coffee and unique pastries (for us non-coffee drinkers) 3. they had many vegan and gluten-free offerings in their scone, muffin and pastry selection and 4) they had a huge rv in the back, with plenty of seating for our large group (we were 12-15 runners). the morning was cold and a bit drizzly and cloudy, so we took refuge inside the rv and sipped our drinks and munched on our snacks while chatting about the scenic run. there were also a few tables & chairs outside so our friends with a dog could join us. while there was seating inside, all of the tables were already occupied, rightly so since it was a cool morning. i really liked this cafe and would definitely return the next time i'm in hmb! read more

First of all, we were weary about coming here for a cortado as my boyfriend is a cortado snob. There was a bad review about their cortado. But we like to support local coffee shops, so we gave it a shot. Much to our surprise, the cortado was fantastic! Even better than Peet's, who does a pretty good job at the cortado. The shop itself is very cozy and decorated well. Beautiful wooden tables and elephants. They have delicious pastries baked fresh daily, including vegan and gluten-free options. This is a cute little spot with a lot of great seating options. Unlike most coffee shops, they don't only have tables. They have bar seating, tables, and couches so there is a place for everyone. I didn't have any coffee built I ordered the gluten free mixed berry muffin and gluten free berry scone. Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed by both. The scone didn't have a lot of flavor and there were a ton of chia seeds in it that I didn't feel added anything beneficial. The muffin texture was very mushy and the taste was similar to the scone. The bagel sandwiches looked amazing, so the next time I'm around I'll probably try one of those and a coffee instead. read more

Good: This spot is cute, well-decorated, makes good coffee and food. Bad (and why I probably will go elsewhere from now on): There seems to be an owner surrounded by an ever-revolving cast of young employees who are not well trained and seem to mess things up/freeze under pressure. I previously brought my girlfriends parents from out of town, bragging about the place. We arrived in a rush hour and their staff managed to bungle 2 out of 3 of our orders, charge the wrong amount too, and get nervous and flustered when faced with the issues. Gave it another try today. To preface, I don't care about 50 cents. But they list a sandwich with meat option as 5.50. I asked if bacon was a choice and she said yes. She rang me up and it came out to more than made sense after tax. I questioned respectfully and the employee proceeded to explain to me how sales tax works... I showed her the price on the board and the total and that it did not add up, even with tax. She then basically froze and didnt even know what to say... Remaining respectful, I reassured her that I do not care about the difference in cost, but it would be prudent to mark the price to the true price on the board. She stared blankly at me. I asked her to ring it again so we could see what happened. Bacon apparently is not one of the "meat" choices (though ham and turkey bacon are) and incurs an extra fee, though that is not noted anywhere on the board. She then asked the manager, who didn't address me but instead said ya its because of the bacon... I dont know. It's trivial, but there was no acknowledgement of the mistake, no apology, not even really a smile. After receiving my meal, I asked the manager what meats _are_ included if bacon is not in the breakfast sandwich. She looked at the ipad and told me matter of factly, but didnt put any human touch on it. I was disappointed. Someone with good customer service skills would have handled that much better. Dont skip it if you want coffee or a good waffle, but from my experience, their training is lacking and they have a revolving set of employees who don't know their jobs that well. To me, that reflects poorly on management in an industry where customer service should play a big part. read more

What a great hidden gem of a coffee shop! Granola's is probably one of the top non-chain places I have had coffee in the Bay Area. It opened last October and I have driven by it without even noticing it until this week. Don't let the nondescript outside appearance fool you; the inside is cozy and warm, filled with wood-themed furniture and plenty of room--great atmosphere all around. The shop is separated by several areas with different types of seating (e.g., a booth-like area, two reading chairs, woodcut tables, and counters). There also seemed to be an elephant theme going on. Another interesting thing about Granola's Coffee shop is the Streamline Camper out back; it serves as an additional seating area. I'm so tall I had to crouch getting around inside but I suppose it's a novelty some might enjoy. While inside, I opened a random cabinet and saw a mask hidden in the most random spot. Eek! In another nook, I saw a calendar from 1947. Overall, I preferred the wood cross-section table and leather seats inside the shop. One thing that was mind-blowing was that the place was empty! What a nice change of pace; I was actually able to have a conversation at a normal volume while enjoying a tasty cup of coffee in a comfortable leather chair. This would not ever happen at a typically noisy Starbucks, Peet's, or Philz. They also make amazing bakery with gluten-free and vegan options. I had a gluten free scone and oatmeal cookie (3.00$) both of which were great. One more important thing to mention, look at the prices in the picture I posted of their menu. Refreshingly, my coffee was 2 bucks cheaper than Philz. To break it down, atmosphere/setting was 5 stars, coffee quality was 4 stars, and bakery was 5 stars. Part of me didn't want to write this review because I saw none of my yelp friends had reviewed this place yet and I wanted to keep coming here and have it myself haha. This is one of my favorite stops along Highway 1. You have adorable rustic wood cut tables, with stylish brown chairs to match. It's a mix between rustic and industrial and the service is pretty good too. Menu includes homemade muffins and scones- I tried the blackberry and it was a little dry but had good ratio of fruit and dough. If anything, it's a great little shop for a good breakfast bite (they have waffles here too), great for coffee drinkers that don't consume milk, as they have soy, almond and coconut milk. If anything, I would love for them to have a little broader menu, but considering the space they have, it's a little gem for sure. read more

I was really looking forward to coming here since I always need my coffee fix no matter where I'm traveling I was drawn to the very very cute decor and decided to stop by on my way to the coastal shorelines. My friend and I shared a hearty sandwich and I ordered a cortado for breakfast, the sandwich itself was quite yummy! Serving sizes are certainly not small and I loved how the eggs were cooked. The cortado, unfortunately, was terrible. I'm quite used to the cortado made in specialty coffee shops, and this one really does fall flat. If it helps, they seemed to have overextracted the espresso and frothed the milk for too long, making it more like an espresso/cafe au lair hybrid rather than the smooth cortado that I really wanted :( read more

This is the first decent cup of coffee I've found in Half Moon Bay. Seems strange its so hard to come by, but I guess everyone is energized by surfing and nature instead. The black coffee was quite good. Not too acidic, and a little fruity, which I love. I also tried an iced caramel latte, and it was exactly what I would want from that drink - sweet and flavorful, but you could still taste the coffee. The atmosphere of the place is definitely what won me over. The chairs and benches have fun cushions on them, and the tables are cut off tree stumps! There's fun art everywhere, and lots of windows and light. I could hang out in there all day. And its just a short walk from downtown! I plan on trying the food next time, I saw someone with the chilli baked potato and it looked incredible. read more

Granola's has some of the best - if not THE best - coffee I've had in a very long time. The interior is beyond cute and definitely the nicest of any coffee shop I've been to. It's so cozy and homey yet straight out of an architecture/interior design magazine. Granola's reminds me of those places on Houzz you wish you could see in real life...and then you find it here! They glutened me. Reqiring an ER visit. When you ask for gluten free and they give you gluten instead that's a very big issue for those of us with serious gluten intolerance. I was so excited to try this place because they offered gluten free and turkey bacon. Incompetence of one taking order has me extremely ill.
