    Falafel salad.
    Paul W.

Arrived about noon on a Monday, found the diner about half full. I ordered the "falafel salad," which is really more like a vegetarian combo platter, with fatoush, tabouli, and hummus as well as the namesake bean patties. All items were good. Falafels were crisp outside, soft but not mushy inside. Hummus was creamy with plenty of garlic and lemon flavor. The portion of tabouli was generous, and very good. Nice piquant dressing on the fatoush (really more of a lettuce salad than a true fatoush, but nothing I'd complain about.) Service was quick and very attentive, with several check ins from my server. I go to Toledo often, but sadly, not often to this corner of it. GLD is a great stop if you're in the area.

This one is a mixed bag. I really want to like it here. It has excellent reviews, but I wasn't impressed. The service was pretty miserable. I sound like an old fart, but it's mostly young adults or teenagers who mostly want to stand away from the tables and talk. Some of them actually were sitting at the empty booth. I guess my work ethic was if you have time to lean, you have time to clean, or at least wait on the three tables that are there. My husband ordered the gyro and I the gyro salad. Someone who didn't take our order brought out his gyro and then just walked away. I assumed my salad must be right behind. Wrong, about 5 minutes later I had to ask a different server to locate someone to help us. Our server was standing and talking in the back. I also think the person who dropped off the gyro should assume I'm not going to sit and watch him eat. He enjoyed his gyro but to me the gyro salad was blah. Mushy tomatoes, crappy olives, feta cheese that looked like little tiny shreds, and mediocre dressing. We have a closer location to me in Perrysburg, but I can't see myself going back. There are many better Mediterranean restaurants in Toledo. Don't believe the hype and reviews for this place. Try somewhere else.

This was my first visit, and I'm so glad I stopped in for lunch! I ordered the veggie grape leaves as an appetizer, and the falafel salad as my meal! So much flavor!

    Mixed Grill Kabobs

Absolutely amazing! You could tell everything was super fresh! Excellent marinades that made every bite melt in your mouth! I'm not a huge fan of steak but wow, these kabobs were perfectly cooked medium that I would order just that if I were to come again! Too bad we are just in the area for the night! I feel like I've been transported to the Middle East!

The staff were very friendly. The steak and mushroom sauté was excellent. The portions are large.

Food 4/5 Our first visit, do we tried two sauces (Sweet BBQ and Garlic Parmesan) on our wings snd we were pleased. Also ordered their large Greek Salad. It was very fresh and the oil/vinegar Greek dressing was good. The large salad could serve 2-4 depending on how hungry you are. The wings came with an additional creamy sauce for dipping and it was tasty, too. You can go with the regular size wings. Service5/5. You can order by phone or online. We ordered by phone and our order was done on time and correctly. The server who answered the phone was pleasant and efficient , even though it was a very busy night-both phones were ringing with orders. Facility: This place is small; no tables; carry/out only. Location 4/5. Located in a small strip mall on a busy street but parking was adequate on a Sunday night. Since it's only carry-out, the parking spaces are only occupied for a few minutes, as people come and go to the few businesses.

I happen to be a boneless wings girl. I've ordered for Superbowl n few other times. My man is in love with the cajun wings. Has just enough spice to it for him and I actually like them too even though they're not boneless. I ordered some chili cheese fries from here because I was the other side of sober one time and I will tell you these were pretty dog gone good. Not too salty, no beans, the chili was flavorful and a good amount of cheese. We've not tried the Gyros or other items yet but probably plan to. Prices are pretty much on point with any other wing place in town and things come accurate. That's all you can ask for from a chicken wing place

After an hour and 30 mins the driver cancelled my order and I never received a refund. They told me they could not refund my money unless I came to the restaurant. Due to me not being able to drive, this was not an option. I called the following day to receive my order instead of getting a refund and their driver stopped working at 1am. Never received food or a refund.

She said since that location doesn't deliver to my area, she sent the order to the Heatherdowns location. Ok, fine. I prefer the Airport location because it's friendlier and cleaner than the Heatherdowns joint but alright, I'll take the delivery over driving. Asked for a grilled cheese without the third slice of bread in the middle, made it a platter with 2 sides, and ordered a 3rd side. Airport associate spoke to Heatherdowns while I was on hold and came back to tell me there was some confusion about the order and the food would be here in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, my food arrives and the driver gets tipped like normal, I know it's not his fault. My dispatchers took the food and gave him the tip while I was busy. I check the food 5 minutes after it arrives and the sides aren't there. I called Heatherdowns and was talked over repeatedly about how the Airport location messed up the transaction and it was their fault but the driver was on the way with my food. When I got a turn to talk, I told him the driver was here and gone with only half my order. He says "Wow I literally told him to grab those just now. He'll run them back out when he comes back." Ok, whatever, I've had a stressful day at work too. More concerned with my work than the food. I wasn't rude or demanding, didn't ask for a discount or anything. Just thanked them for the help and went back to my project. 10 minutes after that the driver arrives and my dispatchers call for me while he chats with them. I can very clearly hear him, from my office down the hall, tell my dispatchers about how I messed up my own order by ordering from the wrong place, as if my dispatchers are going to sympathize with him that I'm a complete moron apparently. So I leave my office to meet him and he leaves the instant I arrived in the room, not a word or a glance at me. My dispatchers laughed about how it went from an issue with his coworker to an issue with the driver. And it did. Nobody blamed the delivery guy until he had crap to talk when he arrived the second time. So they blame each other, and the other location, and me, for them messing up food that took over 2 hours to deliver. And the grilled cheese still had the third slice of bread cooked in it. Go to the Airport location.

(BTW, I'm not sure what happened to the Taiwanese place next door, but they've been closed for a few weeks now. I'm still trying to figure out if it's temporary or permanent) Anyone who's dined out enough times in Toledo will more likely tell you Toledo weirdly -- I use the term affectionately -- has very good Mediterranean/Middle-Eastern cuisine. You get a wide variety of them, too, such as those of mom-n-pop markets that offer lunch menus, and you also get the nice, family-style sit-down restaurants too. Most of them are very good. Al Nur falls into the former category. What's interesting about them is that their grocery consist of Middle-Eastern, Pakistani and Indian items. And let me tell you, most of their items are VERY well-priced. I don't have much experience with Middle-Eastern groceries so I can't say much about them, but I'm certainly going to try them out (probably with my coworker's help) next time I'm in need of some ethnic groceries. First visit, I ordered their "mixed grill" lunch, which is their version of the kebab combo plate. Came with 3 different skewers of meat over bed of rice and a side salad. Chicken Tawook and (lamb, I believe) shawarma were excellent. Taste I was definitely widely used to. Beef kafta however, I have to mention, had a slightly different spice/seasoning to it. It reminded me of the taste of an Iraqi restaurant I visited in D.C. a few years ago. It was a place my family and my wife's sister's family tried, and I remember my wife was slightly put off by the very strong spice aroma the restaurant had. In my own experience, "Middle-Eastern" labeled places seem to have slightly stronger aroma than those that are labeled "Mediterranean." A quick research will show that it may be because of the availability and usage of different ingredients of spices in different regions. I have the privilege of working/having worked with people of different ethnic background, and I love consulting them about similarities and differences between them. This particular coworker who was born in Pakistan, but had many years of growing up in Kuwait, where his father worked, tells me beef at Al Nur reminds him of what he calls "authentic" Middle-Eastern food from his childhood. Of course, you'll find regions in the States where Middle-Easterners segregate, where you'll have access to their authenticity, but it's certainly not something that's viewed as widely available, IMO. I can tell you right now that it's not going to be for everyone, just like strong-spiced Indian/Pakistani food aren't. But those of us who have the palate for them, I think it's a treat that we now have another Middle-Eastern option in Al Nur. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go pick me up a couple sandwiches for dinner. I've been salivating for them this whole time I was writing about them.
