This restaurant was on the Tommy Bahama Miramonte property where we stayed for a weekend girls trip. Grapefruit Basil was our go-to stop to grab brunch and a cocktail. We also did dinner here one night. The food was delicious and creatively presented. Especially liked their rendition of a traditional blue fin poke bowl. They had a good selection of local and imported wines, our group mostly tried the reds. They also had a selection of cocktails and zero proof drinks, which we enjoyed with brunch and they didn't skimp on the alcohol in their namesake cocktail. The side salads were delicate with arugula served with a light garlic oil dressing. We also enjoyed their dinner menu with the highlights being the macadamia crusted halibut and the beet salad. The ambience is upscale and the staff is very friendly and knowledgable about their offerings. Recommend this place if you're in the Palm Springs or Indian Wells area. read more

We had a lovely server -Katie -she was very happy and and a pleasure to talk to. Very knowledgeable on the food choices, so she guided us through the different flavors that each plate offered and we ended up getting the short ribs, salmon and tuna poke (all delicious) with several drinks. I recently visited Grapefruit Basil for a Galentine's Day brunch with a group of friends. Overall, the food and atmosphere were enjoyable, and I want to start by acknowledging that our server, Jorge, did a great job. He was attentive, kind, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. That said, there were a few issues that made the experience disappointing. When we made our reservation, we were told that we would be able to split the bill into eight individual checks. However, when it came time to pay, we were informed that this was no longer possible and that only one check with four or five cards could be processed. It was frustrating to be told one thing ahead of time and then something completely different at the end of the meal. Additionally, we asked about getting magnets, and a gentleman named Elijah told us that they were limited to one magnet per check. After we expressed our disappointment, he said he would get us four magnets, but the interaction felt dismissive overall. As people who all work in customer service, we believe that going above and beyond for guests especially over something small makes a big difference. Guests want to leave feeling valued, not repeatedly told "no." Thankfully, Mark, one of the busboys, completely turned the experience around. Without hesitation, he made sure everyone at our table received a magnet and genuinely made us feel welcomed. His kindness and effort significantly improved our visit, and he deserves recognition for his excellent customer service. As people who also work in the restaurant industry, we understand what is and isn't possible. When guests ask me for split checks at my own job, I always say yes because in the long run, it leads to better experiences, happier guests, and ultimately more business. Being told that something is "impossible" was especially frustrating when we know from experience that it is possible. Simply saying yes and finding a solution is far more pleasant than repeatedly saying no and creating a negative experience. read more

He was consistently attentive without ever being intrusive, and his polite and calm manner made it enjoyable to interact with him. A group of 8 of us had a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday night. We got there about 5:45 and they promptly seated us. But from there service went downhill. We ordered drinks and those were brought out and we immediately ordered. The server suggested focaccia to start and it was light and delicious. We all loved our cocktails. I highly recommend the Island Empress. I loved it! Our salads came awhile after. The wedge was disappointing. There were four crumbles of bacon and a tiny amount of blue cheese. Just lackluster considering it was a $17 salad. We then waited over 30 minutes for our entrees. I would have asked the server where the food was but we never saw the server. When the food finally came it was all ok. The short rib was a stand out and the person who ordered the steak liked it. The cioppino wasn't good at all. We also tried to order wine that they didn't have which is fine but there was no offer to try another kind. The service just felt unprofessional. The woman was nice but just not trained. The kids really wanted dessert so we asked how long the lava cake would take we're told 10 minutes. 20 minutes later it came. The bill included 20 percent gratuity. We spoke to the manager who said she would come to the table for more info but she never came. We did see her walking around chatting with staff. When staff knows service is slow they should apologize and check in a lot. Overall it was a bad experience. Mediocre food and bad service with prices that demand more. Grapefruit Restaurant gives you a dining experience inside of the Tommy Bahama resort. The service was extremely kind and we were seated fast. The food quality was good, some dishes were bigger in portion than the others. The Lox Flatbread was acidic, fresh, and fairly big in portion while the Brisket Burger was a bit smaller in portion and was a bit rubbery and dry. The Poke was a hit for me however. A great balance of avocado and blue ahi paired with the rice chips made a great appetizer for the table. Just left the grapefruit basil restaurant! Where do I start! I know the horrible server who was rude and unprofessional! Waited almost 1 hour for take out food only to have our server make a mistake on the bill! When I asked him to correct it he was annoyed and never came back. I went into the restaurant to look for him and he was in a staff meeting. Instead of just bringing out the revised bill he brought the manager! Cynthia! The atmosphere is so beautiful and a nice hidden gem in the valley. The bluefin tuna poke is truly a delightful dish. Walking in I am able to see that the restaurant is busy and a little short staffed. I chose to still dine in the restaurant so I am aware things might take a little longer. Instead of being frustrated with the servers because I have free will to stay and eat there so I can not be upset with them. Gisell took care of my husband and I. Back in town for a 2 week stay and was so excited to stop into the new Tommy Bahama resort! We love the restaurant in El Paseo. We arrived for dinner and walked around the lobby bar area and outside. When it isn't terribly hot they have a lovely patio area to enjoy with fire pits, outdoor couches, tables and chairs. A bocce ball court which kept my son entertained while we enjoyed a drink! The decor is fun throughout the lobby, bar and restaurant. The restaurant was quiet and I was a little nervous about our 2 year old. We were the youngest folks apart from our servers. Anyways, we ordered drinks, they were really kind and cute with our son. Cocktail list if better and more unique than the wine list. We had to dine a bit quickly given an antsy kid but we enjoyed salads and a halibut dish. Food was good but lacked a wow factor, especially for the price. And everything was a bit under seasoned and spiced for my liking. My husband and I actually thought the kids chicken fingers and ranch sauce was better than the fish. Service was amazing! Young staff who were really attentive and welcoming. I always appreciate a restaurant and staff who are patient with dining parents and kids. I don't think we caused too much of a stir but this was an older crowd around 6pm on a weekday. Our server Pharoh was excellent from beginning to end. He could see we were trying to make a swift exit and kindly took care of our check and to go boxes very quickly and kindly. I'd love to see a more central theme to the menu here. Otherwise it just feels like trying to create an elevated experience to the casual TB spots but the food really isn't different but is more expensive. I'll be back though! Thoroughly awful. Pls don't go here. This place started strong with their bread and from there it was downhill. We were a group of 6 and all of our entrees were inedible- either overly salted or extremely bland and my husband's ribeye was nearly all fat. We compared to the other 2 Rib eyes and it was clearly another cut. It also took an hr between our appetizer and our entree even tho the restaurant was nearly empty. We asked the server to take back the steak bc it was completely inedible and then I saw 2 chefs come out and stare at us, point at us, then go back in, not exactly the atmosphere you want when sending back food which is not something we do often. After a long while, while the rest of us had long finished our food, my husband got his steak which was sent to us by a bitter rude manager. No apologies, No words really, felt he was actually angry at us. Then because we kept looking at him like what the hell is your problem, he finally said I'll come check on you. Period. No apologies again. Avoid this place at all cost, it's horrible and the steak was not comped- he took off the bread charge lol wtf. This place sucks hope you go out of business soon. read more

It was only my wife and myself there for our anniversary.I wasn't going to let the fact we were bumped from an outside table to accommodate very intoxicated and loud hotel guests. It was 20 minutes from drink order to delivery. Nothing fancy.We grabbed the opportunity to order thinking we may experience the same outcome. We ordered what we were told was the House favorite, halibut. We also ordered a salad to split. LThere was no mention it was going to be just the halibut solo on the plate. So after another 35 minutes,kid you not,they both came at the same time. Mind you we haven't seen our server since the drink order 55 minutes earlier, a manager looking woman took our order. I'm now panicking we need to order a side of something, I'm fumbling on my app to bring the menu back up and after hunting down our original server, order a side of asparagus.Can't go wrong with that. I was mortified to see spears of mushy, overcooked spears of fibrous chaos on a plate. Crazy part is that it was delivered within minutes so whose send back did we get? the halibut was so overcooked that it was like eating a brick of stiff strands of flavorless inedible expensive cod like entree.
