    Salmon kabobs
    Emily H.

It's been 11 years since I was last at The Grape Leaf?!? What what! Happy this has been corrected, and happy to not only update my review but to also up the number of stars given. The Grape Leaf should not be overlooked if you like Mediterranean food. I decided to switch things up a bit, and instead of getting shawarma, my normal go-to, I got the salmon kabobs on rice. And this was lovely. I ate every bit of it. The large pieces of salmon were cooked well. And the salmon plus rice plus sauce was a great combo. I will definitely be getting this again. Our server was attentive and helpful. Everyone in my party enjoyed their lunches. The prices were reasonable. Pretty good all around!

The server was very nice, which was a great start. The portions were healthy and there was plenty to choose from for lunch. My moussaka was good, but the ground sirloin patty on top was lackluster, dry, and under-seasoned. My meal came with a salad--loved that. Salad was fine. I was a little underwhelmed with the food, but I did enjoy the hospitality!

On a perfect day to sit outside we visited The Grape Leaf. Dinner starts at 4p and we arrived close enough to order from the menu. I ordered a chicken kabob with choice of two sides, and I selected basmati rice and a greek salad. It was delicious! The chicken was a bit more seasoned than I'm used to but with the rice it evened it out. My husband enjoyed his lentil soup and gyro sandwich. The Grape Leaf is a longstanding restaurant in Louisville. It is showing its age, including the patio and its tables, which needed a wipe down; however, the food is as good as I remember. Prices are reasonable and as good (if not better) as some casual takeout spots. Service was friendly and paced well. I appreciated not being forgotten on the patio. Street parking available.

Went on a Saturday evening pre be years we've. Not much crowd. Unpretentious place. Very casual. Great service. Food too a bit to arrive but it was ALL delicious.

The food was flavorful and pleasing to the eye. The interior was dated and needed some renovation. Our server wasn't very friendly, he was younger and seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there. He also had AirPods in, which shouldn't be allowed if you're interacting with the public (in my opinion). I would recommend this place purely for the food experience if you're new to the cuisine!

I think my cocktail was called the Tokyo Pop? Not positive but you have to get it. Gin, bubbles, sake, and a hint of lemon in a flute glass. Refreshing, a hint of sweet, a hint of lemon, and extremely drinkable. It would be too easy to throw a ton of these back. But I was demure and had one. I enjoyed the calamari--my go-to here. Crispy, with a bit of heat from pickled peppers, a bit a of sweet form a sweet glaze, and a nice herby zing from mint, herbs, and scallions. They also top the calamari with a a nice portion of greens dressed in a lemon vinaigrette, making this appetizer feel close to a light meal. I am absolutely obsessed with the ponzu mayo that comes on the side. An absolutely delightful touch. I also enjoyed the chocolate cream pot. Talk about decadent. I love that it is served with berries, because you need that tartness to balance out the richness. Fully indulgent. Bonus points: I working fireplace. (And holiday decor still up--this never bothers me.) The ambiance is always lovely, with something iconic on the TV always playing. This spot is one of my fave representation of the Louisville food scene.

The Cracksticks continue to be my absolute favorite. Even if it's just my small family eating dinner from Danny Mac's, these are a carb-filled, dripping-in-garlic must. And we got a basic pepperoni pizza, though the Hawaiian, Chicken Bacon Ranch and Meats pizzas are also delightful. From the crust to the toppings, everything is consistently perfect. Danny Mac's also has decent beer on tap, or you can get a bottle of Ale-8. A true Louisville food staple. So thankful for it.

I came for the coffee, but oh that display of homemade bakery items had me drooling! I had the Turkish Coffee which was a complete experience. The barista talked me through the process of making the coffee, as he was rolling the small, long-handled coffee pot in warm sand, to ensure even heat distribution and to create a foam. The coffee was served in traditional fashion using gorgeous serviceware that consisted of a long-stemmed coffee pot, a small demitasse-type cup, a covered dish with a small sweet item (in my case a small cookie), and water for cleansing the palate. I was worried that the coffee would be too strong for my taste, but it was not strong at all and had a much different taste than espresso. It was deliciously full-bodied and satisfying. The cafe was spotlessly clean with a warm and relaxing vibe with many tables. I especially enjoyed the wall of famous people and events from Middle Eastern countries.
