I can't believe that Yelp reviewers only give this place 4 stars. My wife and I ate here yesterday and there was nothing about the meal that was short of "perfect". I had a cheeseburger plain with raw white onion and my wife and the Grassburger with all the veggies and we split some fries. My burger was juicy and flavorful and the bun was that rare combination of soft and tasty but still substantial enough to stay in one piece up to the last bite. The fries - get ready for this- the fries tasted like potatoes!! They were perfectly browned and crispy and one order was enough for both of us. If you are in Durango go eat these burgers. Awesome. Gotta say this is one of THE Best burgers I've ever had. The burger itself was juicy, crispy and JUST PERFECT! The extras were really flavorful and the lettuce had a delicious dressing. The bun--the bun was perfect as well. Very soft and not a lot of it. This burger was an absolute pleasure!! The fries were awesome! Crispy on the outside and soft and potato-y inside. Not as good as I would've hoped. It was just okay for us. I wasn't wowed for $27 with two burgers, a kids kid grilled cheese and a shared side of fries. The veggie burger was vegan (huge plus), but it wasn't earth shattering for me. It was super cool that you could double your patty for like $3.50 more and if you want a mix of the two fries, you can have that instead of having to choose--just ask. The vegan bbq sauce (another win) was also pretty good, but didn't really qualify as bbq sauce, IMO. My order was a bit messed up with the mayo being added when I asked for it to be without, but it was a minor issue. Loved the deck, ambiance, and quality of the bread. Didn't love how long it took to get our food on a Saturday lunch at 1pm or the portion sizes for the price. Went for a walk after and went by two other places we sort of wish we'd have tried instead. Really 4.5 stars. We have been here several times and always enjoyed the food. Love the new burger bowls and non-dairy shakes. The fries are especially tasty. Most of us had the green chili burgers or bowls and were happy! The missing star is because the service workers were a little rude. The woman who delivered our food looked very annoyed and was snappy when we asked about a number confusion. I also love the space for kids to play!! read more

We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and it was a manufactured piece of chicken like a chicken McNugget. It was completely cold and the Swiss cheese looked they threw it on top as an after thought. Both were really good (just be aware that the Southwest bowl has some pretty potent jalapeños, and I'm typically good with spicy food). I'm pretty sure the black bean burger is home made. Also got sweet potato fries that were among the best I've had. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food. My only criticism is they could do a better job of cleaning the tables outside. I really wanted to like this place, we love burgers! After I ordered I went back and said hey, you didn't ask me how I wanted our burger done. The cashier said what do you mean? I said we like our burgers medium rare he said they don't do then that way. So then I said how about medium? He directed me to the manager who said they only do medium well and that it was a health code issue. Since the order was in and we were hungry, I let it go. We got our burgers and they were not hot. They weren't medium well, they ruined it at well done all black and chewy on the edges. The beef had no flavor after cooking the life out of it. I don't know what the "health code" issue is but you should never have any place that serves beef without an option on how to cook it. Since I complained I feel like they purposefully did this well done. A block away you can order medium rare, and had no issue getting what we wanted there last week. The presentation is nice, the potato bun is great and I loved the green chile. The fries were good but it's a small serving for the amount you pay. The burger also didn't have any flavor and they only had "lite" mayo. We aren't burger connoisseurs but we're close. We go out of our way for a good one and will likely not be back. read more

The Green Chile Jack burger was very good. No chile heat but flavorful! Regular fries were fresh & hot. When we ordered a second batch of fries though, they were kinda chewy & not as good. This food is spectacular. I *love* the vegan options!! One of the worst parts of having lactose intolerance now is living life sans strawberry milkshakes. Well no more, these shakes are SO good. I got the black bean burger, and it was probably the best I've tried, not at all mushy. The quinoa bowls are so flavor packed and filling. And the sweet potato fries are absolutely incredible, very crunchy and salty. There is a cute little kid corner with toys, so fun. *BUT* beware the spicy sauces are so spicy I was literally crying. Grassburger was the perfect dog-friendly haven on our road trip from Ice Lakes! Their smash-style burgers were so juicy, balanced in flavor, and ratio of toppings to burger was spot on (and came to our table SO fast). It was exactly the right amount of food. Raw burger cold wet fries . Pretty sure mushrooms are canned and I asked if they were fresh & they said they were. Such a dissatisfying gross experience with no refund upon complaint. Grassburger had a very short line and plenty of outdoor seating and a sign that the patio is dog friendly. So we made it our lunch spot. (Given how many dogs you see here, it's strange how many places don't allow dogs even on the patio.) You go in and order at the counter and they bring your food out. I got a bacon cheeseburger combo amd a plain burger combo. Combo means you add fries and a drink for $5. We chose regular rather than sweet potato fries. The burger was very tasty. And even for a ¼ pound one, it didn't cook down to nothing like many do. The fries were good. They were skinny fries cooked crisp. All in all it was a good meal, but for $28 it was a splurge. The vibe in this hidden burger joint is pretty cool. It's just off of main street so finding parking is based on luck and timing. I'm not holding that against them since every shop in the old downtown area faces this problem. They have many options, including vegan and gluten free. Yes, they have the specialty sodas at the fountain, but also have bottled coke products if that's not your thing. They also have basically three levels of seating...in the restaurant, down a few steps to an outdoor patio, and then down more stairs to street level tables. You order when you walk in and they bring you your order when ready. I enjoyed the burger, but not as much as other reviews. Perhaps the best I've had in Durango, but not an OMG burger in my opinion.
