we ordered a double cheeseburger on a bed of lettuce with no bun. We got a double cheeseburger with no lettuce. We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and it was a manufactured piece of chicken like a chicken McNugget. It was completely cold and the Swiss cheese looked they threw it on top as an after thought. The sweet potato fries were even colder than the chicken patty. when you pay $45 for a meal you at least expect it to be hot. read more

Got the black bean burger and Southwest Vegan bowl to share with my wife. Both were really good (just be aware that the Southwest bowl has some pretty potent jalapeños, and I'm typically good with spicy food). I'm pretty sure the black bean burger is home made. Also got sweet potato fries that were among the best I've had. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food. My only criticism is they could do a better job of cleaning the tables outside. There was some stuck on food on ours. read more

Really 4.5 stars. We have been here several times and always enjoyed the food. Love the new burger bowls and non-dairy shakes. The fries are especially tasty. Most of us had the green chili burgers or bowls and were happy! The missing star is because the service workers were a little rude. The woman who delivered our food looked very annoyed and was snappy when we asked about a number confusion. I also love the space for kids to play!! read more

Not as good as I would've hoped. It was just okay for us. I wasn't wowed for $27 with two burgers, a kids kid grilled cheese and a shared side of fries. The veggie burger was vegan (huge plus), but it wasn't earth shattering for me. It was super cool that you could double your patty for like $3.50 more and if you want a mix of the two fries, you can have that instead of having to choose--just ask. The vegan bbq sauce (another win) was also pretty good, but didn't really qualify as bbq sauce, IMO. My order was a bit messed up with the mayo being added when I asked for it to be without, but it was a minor issue. Loved the deck, ambiance, and quality of the bread. Didn't love how long it took to get our food on a Saturday lunch at 1pm or the portion sizes for the price. Went for a walk after and went by two other places we sort of wish we'd have tried instead. Grassburger bowl with mushroom & swiss patty and BBQ sauce was solid. Sweet potato fries were also good. But the green chile ranch sauce was the real da BOMB. The green chili peppers tasted fresh, and the sauce had a nice refreshing kick without being spicy. read more

I really wanted to like this place, we love burgers! After I ordered I went back and said hey, you didn't ask me how I wanted our burger done. The cashier said what do you mean? I said we like our burgers medium rare he said they don't do then that way. So then I said how about medium? He directed me to the manager who said they only do medium well and that it was a health code issue. Since the order was in and we were hungry, I let it go. We got our burgers and they were not hot. They weren't medium well, they ruined it at well done all black and chewy on the edges. The beef had no flavor after cooking the life out of it. I don't know what the "health code" issue is but you should never have any place that serves beef without an option on how to cook it. Since I complained I feel like they purposefully did this well done. A block away you can order medium rare, and had no issue getting what we wanted there last week. The presentation is nice, the potato bun is great and I loved the green chile. The fries were good but it's a small serving for the amount you pay. The burger also didn't have any flavor and they only had "lite" mayo. We aren't burger connoisseurs but we're close. We go out of our way for a good one and will likely not be back. read more

Got our order pretty quick- sweet potato fries are really good then dipped in chipotle mayo is amazing. The burger was so good and juicy- the only down side to the bacon cheddar burger is the beef is so flavorful and delicious I didn't really taste anything else - I'm ok with that! From walking in waiting in line to getting our food and leaving was so quick but not in a bad way. The setup of the place is nice too we sat outside and it was perfect. read more

Our 1st experience @ Grassburger downtown Durango. Girl taking orders not too friendly. Some tables not clean & they weren't busy. Burgers came out fast & hot! The Green Chile Jack burger was very good. No chile heat but flavorful! Regular fries were fresh & hot. When we ordered a second batch of fries though, they were kinda chewy & not as good. Raw burger cold wet fries . Pretty sure mushrooms are canned and I asked if they were fresh & they said they were. Such a dissatisfying gross experience with no refund upon complaint. Girl was nice but just a super young crew. My husbands burger was raw too ! He has a double organ transplant so immune suppressed. Hazardous to serve this as such . Shame on you. read more

Grassburger was the perfect dog-friendly haven on our road trip from Ice Lakes! Their smash-style burgers were so juicy, balanced in flavor, and ratio of toppings to burger was spot on (and came to our table SO fast). It was exactly the right amount of food. The sweet potato fries were crisp and dipping sauces were such a yummy complement to the meal. Great burgers, mediocre fries. Grassburger is a cute little stand in Downtown Durango and I was really excited to try it! The food was good and didn't leave me feeling heavy like sometimes a burger can do. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of flavor with the sweet potato fries, but maybe the regular ones are better. This food is spectacular. I *love* the vegan options!! One of the worst parts of having lactose intolerance now is living life sans strawberry milkshakes. Well no more, these shakes are SO good. I got the black bean burger, and it was probably the best I've tried, not at all mushy. The quinoa bowls are so flavor packed and filling. And the sweet potato fries are absolutely incredible, very crunchy and salty. There is a cute little kid corner with toys, so fun. *BUT* beware the spicy sauces are so spicy I was literally crying. Spicy food is my absolute favorite but this was really too much, I couldn't finish. And everything was pretty pricey, so I took off a star. read more

Food AMAZING! Grass fed beef burgers, and other clean foods. Hand made shakes ( also made w/soy milk-if you like that sort of thing). Locally made sodas in the fountain machine. Rootbeer was yummy! I will admit it. I was very "afraid" when my friends took me here that it was a Vegan/Meat Substitute kind of place and I was in the mood to Carnivore Out! Walked in. Smelled Amazing. FRIENDLY staff. Nice menu with MEAT. Real Meat. Good grassfed meat. Dee-Lish-Usssssss...... 1. Best sweet potato fries I have ever had. Perfect size. Perfectly seasoned. Cooked perfectly, not too crunchy, not too mushy. Perfection! 2. Beef Patties so flavorful, moist, juicy NOT greasy. Delightful in every way. Not just family friendly or family tolerant. This place is Family Welcoming! The play area for children was such a thoughtful and useful use of space! THANKS Grassburger because I know that could have fit two more tables but you carved out space for Kids to relax & enjoy! Really appreciate it. We were wandering historic Durango looking for a dog friendly restaurant to grab a quick bite. Grassburger had a very short line and plenty of outdoor seating and a sign that the patio is dog friendly. So we made it our lunch spot. (Given how many dogs you see here, it's strange how many places don't allow dogs even on the patio.) You go in and order at the counter and they bring your food out. I got a bacon cheeseburger combo amd a plain burger combo. Combo means you add fries and a drink for $5. We chose regular rather than sweet potato fries. The burger was very tasty. And even for a ¼ pound one, it didn't cook down to nothing like many do. The fries were good. They were skinny fries cooked crisp. All in all it was a good meal, but for $28 it was a splurge. That's my only reason for 4 stars. read more

One of the highest rated place and winner of award back to back years. This place it a gem of city. High quality meat, very nice staff, well advanced with kiosk and plenty of indoor and outdoor seats. They are exactly how they advertise. One of the best burgers we ever had in States. Took chedda burger and one grass burger and the moment you put in mouth , you feel the magic. Their fries are on of the best too. Again awarded and famous fries. read more

Terrible service! The girl taking our order was more concerned about her nose ring, continually playing with it while we were ordering... we waited for over 30 mins to get our food & it was cold, wrong & not good. Then every employee left the building... couldn't have gotten any additional help if we wanted to. Wanted to say thank you to the owner for reaching out after this review. 3.5 I love what this place is doing. Selling non gmo/ no antibiotic beef. They have vegan options and they even have an allergen menu online which is so helpful. The burgers were fine! They were tasty. I had a gluten free bun and my partner had a regular one and they were both really hard (maybe that's the style? Idk). The fries were yummy. They have vegan milkshakes which I love!! The vibe in this hidden burger joint is pretty cool. It's just off of main street so finding parking is based on luck and timing. I'm not holding that against them since every shop in the old downtown area faces this problem. They have many options, including vegan and gluten free. Yes, they have the specialty sodas at the fountain, but also have bottled coke products if that's not your thing. They also have basically three levels of seating...in the restaurant, down a few steps to an outdoor patio, and then down more stairs to street level tables. You order when you walk in and they bring you your order when ready. I enjoyed the burger, but not as much as other reviews. Perhaps the best I've had in Durango, but not an OMG burger in my opinion. Do not waste your time and money with this place. If I could give no stars I would. Spent over $77 with tip and they couldn't get the order correct. Left out the most expensive item which was the bacon cheddar double burger and after I called it really didn't seem to bother the manager that was on duty @ May 24 7:20 Order number #209 And I tipped Twenty dollars. The service is so awful at this place, that despite the decent food, we've just lost our patience and won't be going back. We continually have issues with the staff here. They look and act miserable and seem disengaged in their jobs - and it shows up in the food and service. They have gotten our order wrong EVERY single time we've visited (and these are not complicated orders) and we've even experienced them losing our order. Last night when we ordered curbside pick-up, we tried calling upon arrival but the phone line was off the hook. So we drove around for a long time to find a legal parking space. Then we went inside and despite standing at the pick up counter, the gal at the register refused to help us and just hand over the food that had been sitting there (getting cold) for 10 minutes while we were looking for parking. When we finally got our foor and I mentioned that their phone line was off the hook, she looked at the phone and looked back and me and said, "yea, i know". WHAT?!?!? I tipped them on the order to get curbside. can I get my tip money back? And, no surprise, the order was wrong and one burger was missing toppings with another burger having the wrong toppings... We're all done. Food is decent but it's just not worth the behavior of the staff. read more

Specialties

We serve 100% Grass Fed beef burgers and black bean quinoa burgers (made in house!). Our french fries are cooked in 100% non-GMO sunflower oil! We offer a kids menu and have a special kids play area! We cook our burgers using a smash method on a chrome plated griddle. This method cooks all burgers medium-well. This creates a crust that holds the juices inside the burger. We do not cook to any temperature under medium-well. This is our process and we do this for food safety reasons as well as for speed and consistency.

Established in 2014. We started our restaurant in 2014 in Durango, Colorado. When we looked at options to expand in 2016, we chose Albuquerque for its vibrant and growing foodie scene - we felt it was a perfect place to bring our 100% grass fed burgers and hand cut fries!

We had a party of nine and were able to find seating both inside and outside - not together but at two tables, next to one another. Totally cool. The wait staff were all pretty friendly and even though there were signs everywhere to bus your own tables, we did have folks stop by to take away our dishes and check on things. Everyone was smiling and in good moods. One of our dishes was tasty as well: lots of love for the fish and chips. We also ordered the chicken sandwich and loaded fries. Both were alright. The sandwich was bland and clocked in at $20 when you added cheese. It did come with fries, but isn't affordable. Same for the loaded fries: a smaller portion and needed more cheese. I would have loved sour cream as well. Sadly, also not affordable. The worst item, though, was our mozzarella sticks and salsa. These guys had zero flavor, weren't seasoned and weren't warm enough. I'm positive these were from a frozen bag. If someone from management is reading, def change brands/vendors. These were tasteless. We ordered drinks, all with mixed reviews expect my spicy Paloma (Paloma Inferno). The marg was too sweet and not balanced. The parents ordered crown and ginger ale. No Sprite or 7Up products so ginger ale, it was. The issue there was the way the staff made it. They added the alcohol, then poured the ginger ale, and topped it with ice. Completely backwards and created a watered down drink immediately. Overall, we ordered two entrees, two appetizers and had four cocktails. $120 with tip. Absolutely not affordable. You shouldn't need to order at the counter, seat yourself, grab your own waters and bus your own tables for these prices. The food should align as well.

Shameful experience…read more I was enjoying some live music on a Friday evening when the owner came out and began yelling profanities and threatening a former employee in full display of the other patrons. He shouted at him saying "Get the F out of my bar" and "I can't wait to see you in town so I can beat your a$s". What a joke! This person clearly has zero understanding of hospitality or leadership, to say the least. Behavior like this from management is likely why the place is going out of business. Don't waste your time or money.

I've had this dish before & it's always been grest, however tonight there were several areas on the filet pieces that were raw. (I just ate the cooked steak.) Typically I would have requested new sliders but I was in a hurry. I also had a side of their regular house cut fries which were delicious...nice & crispy. It was a huge portion. Counter service wasn't up to par either, not particularly friendly. I'm hoping this was just a one-off. I will try them again in hopes this was the case, since this has been my go-to place in Durango.

We ended up grabbing at table just in time before we experienced torrential rain. Mind you, it had been sunny and 78 degrees just five minutes before and suddenly was freezing. Well, my version of freezing. Finally the buzzer went off and my sister picked up my order. We all shared the Cajun fries because the portion was definitely shareable and they were so good. The filet slider really impressed me! The blue cheese and caramelized onions were the perfect touch. I'll definitely be coming back here next time I'm in Durango!
