    Among croissant

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Whether it's for a quick lunch or a chill place to get some work or study done, this is the place I would go![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend and I came for lunch on a Thursday around 12:15p. Upon entry, there was a long line, however, it moved very quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite the long line, it was not crowded once everyone sat down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the Chicken Caprese Panini and a cup of tomato soup which came out quickly and warm. This was definitely my comfort food on a cold, rainy Seattle day. I got the almond croissant to go for breakfast tomorrow. The best part of this place? They have a private parking lot. Even if the parking lot is full, it is pretty easy to park in the neighborhood and walk over. Highly recommend!

The baguette was really tasty as was the vegan cookie. The Italian soda was also great. The staff were friendly and very speedy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was pretty busy for a weekday afternoon inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think it's also important to note that their outside seating is dog friendly, but not their inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is pretty cozy for meeting with a friend or perhaps getting a little work done, though there aren't too many plug in spots if you need that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would definitely come back!

Grateful Bread is totally OG Seattle, like that well worn, familiar, cozy sweater. Again, I was surprised I had not reviewed this spot until now. I stopped by on a rainy day (10/2/23), but had been visiting off and on since the early 1990s when I moved to Ravenna from Queen Anne. It was also a popular spot visiting from Shoreline when The Homie was still a toddler/preschooler. He enjoyed the grilled cheese or pb&j on their homemade bread. This is a totally old school bakery and cafe. But it has staying power because it is a welcoming, generous gathering spot in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. It held its own and able to co-exist with a Top Pot doughnut shop across the street. I decided to hangout onsite to enjoy a hot mocha and a pain au chocolat. There was a constant line of customers and most of the tables were occupied the entire time I was there. A pleasant serene vibe and devoid of any hipster attitude. A major plus!

Easy parking and plenty of space for seating. I came here on a Wednesday morning and loved the cozy vibe of this cafe. The food was delicious and at a good price. The staff was friendly and helpful and gave me good tips on what to order. Will be back soon

Coffee, a quiche and a croissant

We came in as a party of 2 on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. We love their location and it was so easy to park here! It was easy to find seating despite the morning rush. We enjoyed a chocolate croissant, coffee and a slice of their smoked salmon quiche. So. Good. Their pastries both sweet and savory are delectable. I can't wait to come back!

Grateful Bread is a small bakery and cafe with some great options. We bought several different items ranging from both savory and sweet. The sausage and egg bagel sandwich tasted just like Einsteins, which I am a huge fan of. All of the sweets were fresh and great sizes. The cinnamon roll was delicious! They also sell bags of assorted day-old bagels at just $5, which we scarfed up for breakfast the next morning. PSA, they're just as good a few days later.

I really like the Ravenna bread (a sort of sourdough-Italian), and the sandwiches are scrumptious. Also, the cookies are gigantic.

First thing to mention, kudos for their longevity. They are coming up on their first decade next summer. The cafe decor also held up pretty well, including the large glass fixture from the ceiling. Seattle Sunshine Coffee also outlived Ventoux that I had mentioned in my prior post. The barista and I compared my 2016 stamp card to the current design, just had a few slight different nuances. This indie cafe had folks onsite, but not packed. There was still room available whether seated along the sidewalk, main seating area, or the upstairs mezzanine. Some convos to be had, but most of the cafe clientele were on their laptops or reading. Pastry case was well stocked with the wholesale variety from Macrina, plus the usual bevs and cafe fare. I enjoyed my near two hour onsite visit. The only thing I wished is that I had brought a hoodie. The AC was jacked up. and of course, I had savored an iced mocha. Hopefully my next cafe detour won't take nine years though between visits.

They have so much outdoor seating, on both sides of the cafe, which I really like. Way more than downtown. Food came out super quick too. My go to order has always been the Mr Breakfast plate, it's super hearty and full of great breakfast foods. However, the price has increased exponentially and quality has definitely gone down. I used to pay around $15 for this plate and it included bacon and now it's $17 + an extra $4 to add 2 pieces of bacon. (The bacon is totally worth it though). The potatoes recipe need to be completely refined, or they need to offer a substitution option for them. They are overly soft and they don't have nearly enough seasoning. That was the only thing that remained on my plate when I was done! and the soft boiled egg tasted a little off to me, like it had been sitting for a bit long. Other than that, the Turkish eggs and chopped chicken salad were very fresh and good. Staff were super nice when ordering at the counter, coffees and pastries were good as well. Overall I will come back here, just would like to see some quality changes with the Mr Breakfast as it used to be very good.

So I'm sad to see the decline in this establishment. Upon entering I immediately noticed the worn upholstery in the booths. A serious makeover is needed. So trashy. But I get it times are hard. My food arrived on a chipped plate - time to throw it away folks. The counter server was very friendly as normal so that's a definite plus. However the BLT I ordered looked like they threw all the ingredients on the toast with no real prep. The tomato jam was not jam but pieces huge chunks too big to eat. While I'm glad they aren't skimping on the ingredients it was piled so high that it was challenging to eat. I ended up eating it in pieces with my fork and as such lost the tastiness of a combination of the flavors as it quickly became a deconstructed mess. A huge plus - the Seattle Fog was probably the best "London" fog I've ever had !!! Bravo. Not sure I'll come back again this visit. Maybe I'll check it next summer to see if improvements have been made.

Signal inside isn't particularly strong as we both had trouble with 5G and reception at the very back close to the lone restroom. Tons of windows let in a bunch of sunlight, almost too much as seen in some of my photos of our drinks. Speaking of the drinks, they serve many kinds of coffee- and matcha-based drinks along with some pastries on the side. I saw the caphe-misu and matcha-misu a lot so we decided to get both of these drinks, but they were out of the matcha-flavored tiramisu cake for the drink, so I got their ube cream latte instead and shared the caphe-misu. Both have very high coffee content, and the caphe-misu was deceptively huge; adding the tiramisu on top made the drink larger than my ube cream latte, which was also heavy on coffee flavor but still had a discernable amount of ube taste despite coffee typically mulling every other flavor added into it. Tiramisu was fluffy and soft, and complemented the coffee.
