Man I cannot say enough good things about grater goods. The 2 employees here are nothing but kind and helpful! We always have great chats and I feel as though we are best friends even though I don't come in as much as I'd love to. It is super cute and clean inside. There are so many great options! Great place to get a welcome home board for a friend or maybe bring an apt to a dinner. We grab cheeses and sometimes meats to have for dinner in the park very often! It's probably a good thing I live 40 minutes away from Grater Goods, because if I lived too close my diet would become exclusively cheese. I finally visited for the first (and not the last) time recently for a private tasting event with fellow folks from the Junior League. The two women working -- including Jennifer, the owner -- were easy to talk with and super informative about the four cheeses they served us, which ranged from a Brie to a Comte. I love cheese. I love expensive, funky cheese, and I also love cheap, mild cheese (and everything in between). But I know enough about cheese -- well, I've eaten enough cheese, at least -- to tell these were excellent cheeses provided by someone who really wants locals to enjoy them. The shop itself is lovely, carrying not just cheeses but some meats and plenty of other selections you may want for a charcuterie board (or your own midnight snack)...spreads, honeys, crackers, and more. They also have some French butters, ready-to-beat baguettes, and even some homewares like beautiful wooden service items, mini fondue pots, and cheese slicers. This would be an excellent place to stop in for a housewarming gift, even if you're not looking to gift something edible. But also, consider gifting something edible. Who doesn't want good cheese? And I haven't taken advantage of it yet, but I will soon: the shop offers trays and boards ranging from "snack for 2" to "large party" if you give them notice. We did the wine and cheese experience. It was different than I thought with using tongs to grab a cheese. The cheeses were excellent, the descriptions was provided on a list. I would have loved to hear someone describe the cheese or talk more about their shop. What a great find! When we walked in, we happened to arrive during a wine tasting--now I'm excited to come back for one on an upcoming Friday. The owner greeted us warmly and gave excellent cheese recommendations based on what we like and what we've tried before. She even offered to save our order under our phone number so we could easily remember it next time (or not have to remember at all!). I love it when I go inside like I did today and there are lots of people who are looking for something delicious for the holidays. I have ordered charcuterie and cheese plates before and every time I am thrilled with what I get. Yesterday I went in to ask what one of the cheeses I had about a month ago was because it was so good. I was sure they would say sorry I can't help you but no, this was an American cheddar and I brought it and other delicious items home. I know tariffs must make importing cheese a nightmare these days but this place is worth every penny and they have just about everything there at very good prices. It's like an adult candy store (next door is wine so this is perfect). I love being able to stop by and find something new and having such knowledgeable and lovely people helping me find something I know I will enjoy is even better. Yum, yum. yum! I know I am a cheese lover- and I am at the Pottery Studio on the back side of this shopping complex numerous times a week and FINALLY said- I need to check them out! I blame fabulous cheese and wine tasting up in upstate NY, lol. And Bernie's Wine Shop is right next door- so you can get your cheese, meats, accoutrements all at Grater Goods and run next door and pick up a bottle or a case and have yourself set! The good- all large wheel cheeses- you can sample! She usually has little bundles wrapped to slice you off a piece. I tried several and bought one wedge and her yummy feta spread! Whipped feta- I saw her post on IG about it and just absolutely had to try it! I'll be checking back in- I also bought a jar of peach cardamon cobbler jam too! They had a chocolate, bourbon, raspberry jam I was eyeing too- but I figure I should get through what I have and give myself to come back to buy again! What a true disappointment a visit to grater goods was today. After a truly wonderful experience next door at Bernie's wine, where we asked for help selecting French wine and the owner could not be more hospitable we walked into grater goods for some help with some French cheese. The woman there was dismissive and would not help us. We walked out and will never return again. I am such a supporter of local businesses so it makes me sad at the service that we received today. read more

Grater Goods is a tiny cheese shop (mostly) at the end of a small strip mall in Edgewood in Murray Hill. It could just as easily be in the East Village or Frascatti. The cases are packed with cheeses of every sort. GG is the only place that I have found guanciale (don't call it carbonara if it isn't made with guanciale). Jennifer is the only real cheesemonger in Jacksonville and maybe the most passionate in the southeast. The prices are exceptional for the quality of the products. Currently, you can find the national winning American cheese two years in a row (Made in Vermont) for under $22 take home. Found this out on their social media page and will have to pick that one up next time. For the lactose intolerant, there are plenty of goat cheeses to get and if cows are your deal, there are even more hard & soft cheeses as well as semi softs to satisfy your palate. Grater Goods has some of the most sought after cheeses from around the world that you're not going to find at your local Publix and that's what makes this place so special. And the prices here are even competitive with large markets in town for their specialties. The owner is always there to impart her cheesy knowledge and slice out a sample for you to try. We probably tried close to our cut off amount, but ended up taking home a few to enjoy at home. Definitely appreciate the cheese inventory we found here. Overall, there's so much more available besides cheese in this shop and an excellent place to pick up a few gifts or order your custom charcuterie for any occasion. This place is amazing! I cannot wait to come back! I came looking for some meat and cheese for a charcuterie board I was making and I wanted something different from what Publix or other grocery stores sell. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted though. When I walked in the owner greeted me with a warm greeting and let me look around without being too overbearing. Within a minute I wanted everything. There were a bunch of amazing looking flavored honeys, crackers, jams, and of course, meats and cheeses. Everything you'd need to make the ultimate meat and cheese board. Eventually I asked for her recommendations and she was more than willing to help me. I told her an idea of what I wanted and for how many people and she recommended some and let me taste each one! Everything she recommended was perfect and sooo delicious. I ended up getting the Thomasville Thome (a great hard cheese that is easy to eat and goes with anything), Robert's Robiola (an excellent soft cheese), Daikin's Dairy Spicy Cheddar (awesome spicy twist to cheddar), Lomo (smoked pork loin, super yum), and Barley Swine Salame (wonderful salami that pairs great with my picks). It's also located next to a wine shop so it makes for a great stop for all your wine and cheese needs. I highly recommend stopping here and trying out some of the options. So excited about this new cheese shop in Murray hill! I walked in right before they closed and the owner did not rush me and provided ample tastings before I made my selection. I chose an amazing stilton, gouda, Truffle chevre, aged goat cheese crottin, this amazing ginger pepperoni stick that tasted more like ginger peppered salami, and an amazing package of aged parmesan crisps. I will definitely become a regular here. They have a nice selection of cheese, cured meat, jams and jellies plus they also sell cute cheese fondue sets and cheese boards. It seems like the owner really tries to provide local cheese and cured meat and I am excited to see this store grow. Grater Goods is such a gem to have nearby. I hadn't been in until my dad sent a cheese gift basket for Christmas. Jennifer, the owner, dropped it off at our house and we dug in -- some unusual cheeses plus an A+ goose salami, all excellent. I then stopped by a few days to check out the store, and picked up a few gifts for people (there are some really cool jams, chocolate bars, that type of thing) plus some guanciale for a pasta dish I wanted to make (outstanding). Jennifer also told me she keeps track of the cheeses customers purchase, so if you come back looking for some more of that hard/soft/goat/cow/whatever cheese you bought a couple months ago, she can steer you the right way. This place is absolutely adorable! The shop has a variety of specialty cheeses, charcuterie, jams, crackers, and kitchen accessories. The owner is SOOO helpful! We went in not knowing what we wanted or even what "types" of cheese we really liked and she was very patient with letting us try several types and then explaining what we could pair them each with. If I could give this store 10 stars I would. If you love cheese this is well worth the drive from anywhere in the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The selection is amazing, the cheese which is all from small American dairies rivals any cheeses we have tasted in Spain, France or Italy. The selection of all lives is very very good and the pates and Charcuterie when sampled all together makes for the perfect meal. There is nothing enjoy more than picking up some fine crackers, cheeses, pates, meats and olives to enjoy a romantic dinner on the terrace. You can even pick up great lines right next-door and fresh bread down the street as long as you arrive before 3 PM. It's in a fantastic artsy area and is owner operated. Ok... So I have been remiss. I don't normally review stores (just restaurants) but this is different. I have lived in Jacksonville for 22 years and have looked for a good cheese shop everywhere. Luckily a couple of years ago my Mother in law noticed a small write up about Grater Goods in a local magazine. I've been a fairly regular customer ever since. Jennifer introduced me to a line of Goat and Cow's Milk cheeses from the Boxcarr Cheese producers in North Carolina.... Hands down my favorite American cheese producers. Jennifer is very knowledgeable about her products and has recommended some of my new favorites to me in spite of my trepidation. She has an honest gift for selecting both her cheeses and her charcuterie (hand crafted Salamis, Pates, and Meats). This place is a mini Murray's Cheesier in NYC. It's a fancy cheese shop in Murray Hill. Now Murray's in one of our have to stop every time we are on the city. The owner Jennifer is so sweet and she loves her cheese. We got to talk about everything from cheese to meats and even her super deluxe slicer. She does carry everything that you might need in the cheese and serving meat world. From boards, knifes, and a few cute gadgets. The samples of cheese were all over the flavor world. The brie was sweet and gooey. the other were good and some weren't so good. But then that's why they make chocolate ice cream. Everybody don't like vanilla. She also carries a few charcuterie meats (my favorite) the salami's were great and a pancetta was so good I had to carry some home with me.
