Luckily they took it off the ticket and I was able to share lasagne with my husband and that was amazing. Just beware that if you order multiple things, make sure you get different sauces because if jt has red sauce, it will all taste the same. Vary up your flavors. Also we got the chocolate cake and my kids left half the cake on the table. They never leave cake behind. I will also add that my daughter got the child size Sunday Suppa with pink sauce and a meatball and she LOVED it. This will be a longer review, but hopefully helpful for those that share our passion and want to get an idea of the impeccable dining experience we received! Cuisine, beverage, service and ambiance were all beautifully represented in a tour de force Bordeaux wine dinner at JJ's Liberty Bistro in Ponte Vedra this last Saturday. Each course was one foodie thrill after another! On the heels of an exquisite Valentine's Day meal (reviewed on this site), we jumped at the opportunity to experience Chef Oscar Perez' masterful creations expertly paired with wines from the beautiful Château Lagrange. For wine enthusiasts, this is a historic French Third Growth Bordeaux estate in the Saint-Julien appellation, known for its powerful, complex red wines made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Taking an already-elevated dining experience to another level, owner JJ brought Château Lagrange's General Manager and Winemaker Matthieu Bordes along with US Manager Marie Gabriele and Importer Patrick Leveque to thoughtfully discuss each pairing from wine composition, regional history, vine age, crop yields, flavor profile, and so much more. My wife and I were fortunate to sit alongside them as we dined, talking about their passion for crafting amazing product, sharing their extensive knowledge, and exhibiting immense patience as I attempted to recall my French vocabulary! They were warm, generous and delightful company who we look forward to seeing again when next they return to JJ's. As is a hallmark of dining at JJ's, the service was elegant and fluid, timed with precision like a beautiful dance. We began with Stuffed Mussels w/Crepinette, paired with a white 2022 Les Arums De Lagrange. The white wine served as not only a palate cleanser, but also gave gorgeous floral and buttery notes that balanced the mussels perfectly. Next came a light Sheepshead Bordelaise, SO tender and sauced expertly to ensure each flavor could be tasted rather than overwhelming the palate with one versus another (wonderfully paired with a 2016 Haut Medoc De Lagrange). Pictured below, you can see how beautiful the plating was, as with all dishes that evening. One of two favorites on the night...impossible to choose...was the Squab two ways (pigeon, akin to duck), served with Dutchess potato. Rich and decadent, this was a gorgeous pairing with the Merlot-dominant 2017 Les Fiefs De Lagrange. I'll be thinking about this dish for a long, long time! Lamb Loin is a perennial favorite, perfectly cooked and sauced, accompanied by the most delicious mushroom soufflé we'd ever tasted. The flavors melded together seamlessly, enhanced further by each sip of the bold, fruit forward 2018 Chateau Lagrange St Julien. The Cabernet-dominant blend was magnificent, age worthy but very approachable now - we took home a winemaker signed bottle! Finally, we came to a very special dessert not often found outside of the France, Caneles de Bordeaux. It has a dense texture with a slight crisp exterior, and was created to use the yellow of the egg; in the past, the whites were used to filter the wines. Delectable and unique, capping off a truly memorable event! We were thrilled to learn that JJ hosts these amazing dinners monthly, so I've included a picture of the upcoming schedule. They have a tendency to sell out (as with the dinner we attended), so recommend calling the number below and booking early! Our wine, a Petite Chablis was excellent and went extremely well with my bouillabaisse and my husband's French Onion Soup and salad! We had decaf espresso's and split a coconut macron (highly recommend!) and a coffee meringue (delightful) for dessert. We were checked on often by our server and JJ the owner stopped by multiple times. After we finished lunch JJ helped us with recommendations on a few French wines we wanted to try! My order consisted of 2 $1 grape leaves (or 6 for $5), a $4 calzone, a $2 guava puff pastry, and a ginger cookie. They take pride in sharing that no preservatives are used in any of their food. The mini calzone vs. the giant calzones other establishments offer is the perfect size for lunch. The dough was light with a flavorful sauce with an ample amount of filling and cheese. Today's options were pepperoni or meatball and the meatballs were well executed. My only "want" here is a small cup of sauce for dipping - maybe it's an option but did not ask. The grape leaves were filled with your usual seasoned rice and herbs with just the right amount of lemon. I was asked if I wanted them warmed but I declined so I could enjoy them cold. I wasn't overly thrilled with the ginger cookie. It was large but was on the soft side and I like cookies with a little bit of a snap. Flavor was okay and ginger was evident but overall it was average. The guava pastry was missing from my order today. While it would be obvious to complain about this, that is easily offset from the complimentary loaf - yes loaf - of bread that was given to me. On my way out, I let the co-owner know that I added their business to Yelp. She thanked me and then surprised me by running to me outside and giving me a loaf of bread. Completely unexpected but very much appreciated. The missing pastry can be attributed to the processes discussed in the following paragraph. My 4 star rating results from a 4.5 for the food and 3.5 for logistics. As they only soft-opened 2 days ago, there is definitely a process that needs to be ironed out. It appears the plan is for one person to take orders, one person to prepare and deliver those orders, and then kitchen staff. The line was about 5 or 6 deep when I left and there was a little disarray in how it was all being executed. Some quick fixes will be easy to do and I expect their food will carry them forward. As it is only their 3rd day, it's obvious that the word is getting out. I'll probably be back in about 30 days or so to enjoy their food again.

There is nice table seating but realize it can easily get crowded quickly - I would guess mostly at lunchtime. Overall, counter and beverage/pastry prep area where you place orders is clean, organized, and though there area less choices on the pastry side verses the larger restaurant, they still have much of the great stuff here. I'll also give kudos on how the servers and prep team work hard to keep the restaurant clean and organized. I rarely take pictures of restrooms but even with a lunchtime rush on a Sunday, they still managed to keep the restrooms pretty clean and great in appearance. The cashier and servers were outstanding in their enthusiasm, attention to detail, and checking up on us occasionally. They took care of us when we had a couple of special needs as well. Being familiar with this restaurant, I knew exactly what danish I wanted. I took the blueberry cheesecake danish and my Dearest chose a pistachio danish. Those who visit Le Petit Paris MUST get a pastry when they visit! I think the cookies and pastries here are the best in JAX! And get the chocolate mocha latte with it! For the sandwich, I chose the steak sandwich. The dressing on this sandwich was incredibly good - I loved it overall. I will say one thing though - the baguette is difficult to chew and with relatively chewy steak, though delicious, it can be a battle chewing the food. I won't score down because this is the normal way the sandwich is created. However, I would only recommend that a sour dough option would be more visible on the menu, or inform people of this option when they order this particular sandwich or other baguettes. But there were zero issues with the salmon quiche! It was amazing!! Rich in flavor and a nice healthy serving. We have leftovers on both of these meals. With life being a little rough recently, it was good to get out and find a happy place for a couple hours! I will note here that the food and service is great here. But people should be aware that meals, among some other items, are pricey here. But for a special day, it was good to set that fact aside for a couple of hours. Visit this restaurant!
