I was excited about trying the food here after seeing and smelling some amazing dishes while working an event a couple weeks back, but also set my expectations low after reading some of their reviews. I'm happy to say we loved our meals at Gravity Smokehouse! We split an order of Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and it was a good size portion and they were delicious. For my meal, I had the Gravity Maker - bacon wrapped mac and cheese stuffed meatloaf topped with pulled pork, beans, and brisket - which was the epitome of comfort food. My significant other had the Two Meat Dinner with Turkey and Pulled Chicken. We both had coleslaw as our side and enjoyed it. The cornbread was also delicious and not at all dry. We tried all of their sauces and our favorites were the Gravity sauce, Spicy, and Burning Bourbon. I will agree with other reviewers that our server lacked attentiveness and intuition about our needs (i.e. drink refills, extra napkins, bringing our bill) especially since we dined on a slow Sunday afternoon and we were one of only three tables in the bar area. She also forgot to bring my credit card back in the receipt book and I was lucky to have realized it was missing before we left. (Turned out it was still lodged in the computer payment terminal.) Understand, I give this review with COVID complications considered. Yesterday, my husband and I ordered takeout for our family of 4 precisely because of that. They were happy to take or order, gave us a pick up time and everything looked good. My husband went to pick things up 45 minutes later and was told that they had an "unexpected rush." That's not great, and it's own issue (Why would you plate food that someone ordered and give it to someone else?) but that's not what spawned this review. It comes down to this- If they weren't going to fulfill the order, why didn't they call? Not only did we not have what we ordered we were then pressed for time to get some other option set up. We went to Gravity today and enjoyed their tiny eat-in space. The food was wonderful! Brisket, pulled pork, turkey and sausage. Sides: barbecue beans, chili corn, and coleslaw. Went to Gravity BBQ for the first time today. Got there about 2p.m.. We were greeted immediately and got a table by the window. Kim, out server was there right away with menus and took our drink order. We ordered when she brought the drinks. What a treat when the food came. Husband had the half pound chicken with fries and cornbread, I had the build your own burger with fries and we shared a side of sweet potato waffle cut fries. Loved everything, especially the sweet potato waffles! Some of the best food that we have had in Lansing and believe me, we have tried most places. Kim was awesome as our server! Service was prompt. Burger was outstanding as was the chicken. Loved the different sauces especially the sweet one and the bourbon one. We will be back. So glad to find a restaurant this good so close to home. Me and my wife decided to attend even after some bad reviews that we got person to person we went into the restaurant we were immediately seated we sat there for 20 minutes the owner was sitting at the table right behind us and couldn't see that we sat there for a long time with no service after about 20 minutes a family of six walked in sat down at the table next to us and they got immediate service the service there is very poor when we made it a negative comment on their Facebook they just removed it nobody tried to make right with us on the situation nobody offered us drinks nobody asked us why we're leaving nothing very disappointed read more

I visited Gravity on Cinco de Mayo and the food was awful. I ordered the "only" special, 2 chicken enchiladas, the food was cold and it tasted like it had been made in mass quantity and sat all day. The enchiladas were soggy and the rice had no flavor. The last two times I've eaten there the food has been poor. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Anyone who says this place is good either has no taste buds or is straight up lying. This food was TERRIBLE. Had the fried pickles, spare ribs with Mac & cornbread, baked beans, Caesar salad, & banana pudding. The best thing was the cornbread (even tho it was probably the smallest cornbread I had ever received). The banana pudding was decent, nothing spectacular. The fried pickles were strips, & the fried part was barely coating the whole thing. They were very basic. The ribs were mushy & gooey, & the glaze gave zero flavor, they seasoned those bad boys with water & air. Before today, I have never had macaroni & cheese that leaves a film in your mouth. It felt like I just ate liquid plastic. The baked beans were hard & again, UNSEASONED. & maybe the Caesar salad is more of a preference thing, but it was made with salad mix instead of romaine, & honestly looked like it came out of a bag except for the 3 bits of smoked chicken I got on top, which were over cooked & underseasoned. Came in for my B-Day dinner. Got sat next to a company's work function. Was there for ten minutes and was never acknowledged again until we walked out and I was complaining! Manager was at the end of the bar feeding his face. Instead of acknowledging our difficulty, in which I know he clearly heard me announce, he turned around and acted to not hear. He let the greeter take the brunt of my complaint and accepted the loss of a customer without a blink of the eye. That to me proves that this guy is a classless arrogant ass!! It's sleeze balls like this that put bad names on communities. Do we really want owners like that around? I understand now why they can't keep waitresses at all!! Although the food sometimes is good, it is not worth the loss of integrity to support such a classless place!!! I'm sure in the next year we will see this place crumble as the path they're on cannot be a productive one! This was my 4 th visit to the restaurant and only once was I remotely satisfied by the service. My first visit was in the 1st month of opening. They literally gave me somebody else's food on accident and gave my food to someone else. I then watch both meals go back to the cook station and sit. After about two minutes, they gave us our correct meals after already passing them out to a different customer. I've been to Gravity twice now and my feelings are mixed. While the food is decent (I liked the BBQ sauce), I feel that the amount of food you receive is a bit underwhelming.
