I've been here a few times. Men's haircuts are $17. Occasional they do a surprisingly decent job, and other times I've walked out looking like a complete mess. This is a very good example of a business where you get what you pay for. If your hair is important to you, you should probably go elsewhere. Everyone at the Sharon Heights Great Clips is nice but especially Clara O. She is very professional and stopped every once in a while to see if I was happy with progress. Because I just get my head shaved I am probably not as particular as some people but it is still a nice place. My boys get their hair cut there too. I come here from time to time for a quick haircut. I usually go to the great clips in Redwood City where I never have any problems and am generally happy with my haircut. In this case, this location is quite different in terms of how they pride themselves. The first time I had an issue, the stylist (Tiffany) left a dent on top of my head which I didn't really see till the last minute which made me go back to have them fix. Now I just got one from the same stylist giving her the benefit of the doubt and I left there having a small crater on the side of my head. She can't cut evenly and it looks so horrible. I had to tell her numerous times which areas to fix until she got it somewhat right. She even had the audacity to tell me it looks fine and what am I "looking" for as if I don't know my own hair and how I usually get it cut. If that's how she takes pride with her work then I don't know what to say. I kept checking every spot and she tried to hurry me out with a slight attitude and annoyed look on her face. So I just paid and left. I have to go home and clean up the mess. Don't think I'm coming back to this location ever again. You pay what you get for I guess. read more

Awesome haircuts place for kids! I've taken my twins here for a haircut and have been very happy with the service (always friendly and fast) and my son appreciates the lolipops. Great cuts at a great price. Why pay $5-$10 more for a 'kids haircut experience' when the Great Clips stylists are awesome with kids AND there's never a wait? I also like the convenient location (2 minutes from 280/Sand Hill Road) and the fact I can get a Starbucks right next door and wait in the sunny courtyard while my kids are getting their haircuts. First off, the employee somehow lost my last haircut information. The same women, who barley spoke English, insisted I take more than half an inch off. Wow. I had a haircut emergency as I was trying to fix my own hair at home which resulted in an utter disaster. I decided to just go in and pray to the gods to hook me up with the right person to do my hair, and Ghinet (pronounced "Ginette") was awesome! Hit and miss quality. The most recent haircut left my sideburns chopped off to bare skin on one side and long on the other side. The cut length of the hair was too short all around. The stylist was rough with the clippers. In the past the cut has been fine, with a different stylist. (I don't know their names.) Probably will skip this place for a while, and next time go to the little Aveda salon up in Los Gatos that is wonderful but more pricey. read more

So, at the 11th hour, I needed a beehive hairdo for a 60s party. I called four other salons in Menlo Park, three of which didn't know what a beehive was. Deanne and the gals were responsive, accommodating and downright AMAZING. Creativity was in abundance as they all helped in in getting my hair pinned up high, and I walked out with an fabulous 'do and 6 inches taller. Great Clips is a Great Place for Hair Cuts, I have been twice now and Both time Maria gave me a great cut. My Sister also has gone twice with me and has also been very happy with the two different Stylists she went to. Parking is great at the Sharon Heights Center, Starbuck is there neighbor. Most of the stylists there were good but found a stylist that understood what I wanted to do to my hair and she's been great. I went in for a haircut and I was pleasantly surprised to see they were still open. Eldie was amazing! So sweet and accommodating to me for my haircut after a long day at work. Completely satisfied with the haircut! Now, on to my criticism: It's NEVER a good look when the owner, the bald guy, is berating an employee out front of the store in plain view of customers. Very appalling and unprofessional to have that sort of conversation in front of the store. They then followed me into the store to greet me and pull up my profile to get me started. Eldie was very sweet to me, while the owner was directly over her shoulder watching her every move. She was in the middle of verifying my address when he abruptly cut her off to ask me the same thing. Then he openly critiqued her in front of me before storming off to his back office, where he yelled very loudly. Loud enough that I could hear it in the main room while getting my hair cut. It made me, the valued customer, very uneasy. Eldie's interaction w the owner clearly rattled her, but she was still incredibly sweet and gave me a great haircut! most frustrating haircut i've ever gotten. i was there wednesday the 3rd at around 1:20 pm when there was only one employee, and the lady cutting my hair didn't listen to what i asked for, refused to fix the problem areas that she left uneven after i specifically pointed them out, and all around was unprofessional. it was so frustrating that she wouldn't listen to what i asked for, and i eventually stopped trying to explain and just paid and left. i have short, straight, very easy to cut hair and all i asked for was an even trim, and she was unable to do that. i go to great clips all the time and am happy with the results and i've never had an experience like this; i think it was very specific to the employee that was working at the time. read more

The old adage you get what you pay for sure applies here. The "stylist" was very pleasant but unfortunately her barbering skills were not very good. My hair was a bit long for me, actually covering my ears. I asked for a cut which would not cover my ears and specifically asked to thin out my hair because it gets bulky when long. Short story - she didn't thin it all. Result - a few days later I looked like a bowl had been put on my head. I went back to my regular for repairs. I received a coupon to Great Clips from a friend of mine. Since my hair is really hard to cut (as I have two swirls), I was a bit skeptical. But hey, you can't turn down a haircut for only $9.99, right? I believe my hairdresser was named Ghinet? She was so sweet from the beginning to end and she took a lot of care cutting my hair. She also carefully explained the process of cutting, blending, etc. to me, so I wasn't worried about the outcome. In the end, she did a great job. I got a haircut from carmen. I thought she did a nice job layering my hair. It was quick, looks simple, and I liked it! I will beback but maybe when my hair grows out for about another 3 inches or so. Though the salon looks quite a bit small, but my hairstylist was great and I got a warm welcome from a very nice young receptionist whom I believed her name was Annie. At other salons where I went to, the receptionist were not nice. Reason why I gave this salon only 4 stars instead of 5 was because I saw this kinda old short looking hairstylist was giving her client "the face" cause the hairstyle was undecided from the client. Possibly the worst experience I have ever encountered at a hair salon. Please train your employees to be more of a people person as this job requires people interaction. The stylist did not have any compassion at all. She seemed lost, did not care about her client and was in a rush. Any normal stylist would have sprayed water on the clients hair prior to cutting but that's not the case at Great Clips. I paid $20 for a 15 minutes haircut that I could have done myself. This review is for REED. 10/10. He was amazing! My boyfriend went in for a trim and he is so pleased with Reed's service. It was clearly obvious that Reed enjoys cutting hair. He took great care and attention to his cutting. He was also relaxed and created such a soothing environment. The woman that was working (possibly the manager of the store?) was much more high-pace and didn't seem to take her time with the customers. Reed didn't rush but also didn't take too long. Great experience! I would say that the clientele while we were there was exclusively males.
