The food is heavily spiced and overpowers any of the great flavors of fresh, well prepared seafood. My favorite meal is softshell crab with salad. Great Hunter Crab was the absolute worst I have ever experienced. The service was very good and a pleasant experience. I usually eat at Red Hook but I noticed this new place and decided to try them out. The bar area was still closed due to them opening a week ago so that was kinda disappointing. The food was good even tho it was over seasoned and they give you good a good portion but the prices are kinda high compared to the place I normally go to. My mother and I came here for the first time to get some crab legs.. when we received the crab legs the crab legs where cold I told the waitress and she offered to heat them up (probably in a microwave) in which explained when you re heat crab legs they become rubbery so I denied it , she agreed and walked off... with no sort of follow up we received our check in which 15% gratuity was already added to it. Which made the lunch date a terrible experience and hole in my wallet we ended up spending 133 dollars on two meals that were cold and the 15 % gratuity fee to a waitress that had no intention on making the meal right. I will not be coming back and I will be telling my friends and family to not as well. Also the music was very vulgar with no censorship. Which made it awkward eating with my mother. read more

First, let me start by saying our appetizers were fabulous. We ordered drinks when we were seated, as well as our appetizers. Fifteen minutes later, we were still waiting for our drinks and our server so we could order our food. Thirty minutes later, there were no drinks and still no server. It was like they had all disappeared. My spouse noticed they were all in the back laughing and talking. When my spouse got up and stood at the hostess station, we finally got someone who was unbothered by the fact we went 30 minutes without a server checking on us as well as us not getting our drinks. I understand why they add 18% gratuity; if the service is anything like what we experienced, they would never make any money. We finally spoke with the management, who seemed irritated that we asked to talk to him; my spouse requested that the gratuity be removed because the service was a negative 0. Mhmm okay. I tried setting a reservation for tomorrow @7:15 pm for my birthday. I put a party of two because it's just me and my boyfriend. I received a notification today saying that my request for reservation was declined because they don't accommodate parties under 6? Now I could call and I'm sure it would be fine, but I'm not fixing to wait to be seated etc. especially on my birthday? This store is racially racist. If you are Asian or Mexican, your English is not very good, and you they will tip charge you 15% tip When I asked the waiter why both of them had extra tip she said that there was extra tip . on every table. But it's not true. We didn't even add two tables next door. She explained that the other waiters forgot to add it. I don't believe. she showed me their list that day. Well, she showed me two tips on the two lists, and the other lists were more than six people or did not tip, indicating that they only tip the designated race. This is unreasonable (both in the morning). When a restaurant has a tip on each table, their menu only indicates that more than six people will add 18%. Another point is that during the whole process, the waiter only came over once when serving the dish, and did not add water once. After ordering, I needed to call other waiters. I don't go out to eat dinner and experience loud music at the same time. Dinner time is for good food and good conversation. No matter how good the food is, if the music is too loud a person will feel Isolated at the table. That is not what I want to experience when paying money for a meal with family or friends. There are a few restaurants we don't go to simply because of the loud atmosphere. Sadly we will probably have to avoid this one. Tried for the first time yesterday. If I could give negative stars I would. The food was awful and over price. I ordered the lobster roll,the lobster was overcooked and over seasoned. Wad way to much bread for the proportion. I have never been served coconut shrimp with sweet coconut sauce on it...it way to sweet and Unetible. I love my food every time. always hospitable waitress and the food and the people always be good vibes. better than juicy crab and red hook.

First off I would like to say that the restaurant is very comparable to Red Hook down the street. Prices seem fair, service was consistent and pleasant. But then came the music. keeping in mind that we got there about 6 PM on a Saturday to enjoy a nice meal. Then the DJ starts playing music as if we were in a nightclub. It was so loud that I felt like I was screaming at the person across from me. I politely asked the waitress to please turn the music down a notch so that we don't have to scream. The music continued playing at the exact same level. Towards the end of my meal a manager (I believe) came to us asking how our experience was and we said that all the food was good but that the music was too loud. She explained it was just during certain hours, etc. Let me say if it were a bar, I'd be fine with the music, but not during dinner, so we probably will just stick to Red Hook from now on. They will probably lose a lot of clientele because of this, which is unfortunate. read more

For my first time here Sunday night, the food was excellent. I had the crab legs and claims that came with sausage, potatoes and corn in the spicy boil. The spice was spot on since I do like my food kicked up a bit. The sauce in the bag does not impact the sweetness of the corn on the cob and the potatoes were perfect for the size of the meal. My wife's meal was excellent as well (she got the regular - no spice boil and she loved it. This was her second time there. Our server did a good job and with the exception of my wife having to flag her down for a refill she did very well. Mariam (I believe that was her name so I apologize if I got that wrong) was polite, helpful with the menu, and was very pleasant. The cleanliness of the restaurant was very good and for a Sunday night there were several patrons in the restaurant. If they can keep up the quality of the food and maintain the quality of staff and cleanliness this place will be successful. To put it plainly, we will be back. read more
