Went to this place to get my safety inspection completed after reading the amazing Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, it was a different experience for me. I arrived today, Saturday, at 8:45 am before store hours so I could quickly get this done. I was greeted by the owner like the others, but with his flailing arms as soon as I pulled in shooing me away. Not the aloha spirit. He continued to tell me in a frustrated rude manner that he was busy and had no time for me and to try back later. No thanks. I understand everyone gets busy but never an excuse to be rude to customers who want to support your business. I'll try some where else. read more

I needed a simple safety check, and didn't have time to go to my normal shop on the windward side. I called Great People Auto and they told me to come down whenever I could and they would get me in. Is it just me, or is the worst feeling when you realize both your safety check and registration are about to expire in 2 days. The dread of waiting in lines stresses me out. However, Great People Auto was the EASIEST safety check experience ever! Took them about 10 minutes and everything was done on an iPad. $25 and they accept credit card. I called them before I came in to see if I needed an appointment, but they said come right in. I was in and out quickly and then on my way to the DMV to renew my registration. My safety check was going to expire this month and I wasn't really sure where I was going to go. The usual place I go to has only certain hours to do safety checks and last time I went, they said you needed to do some kind of service (I had them do my brakes). I looked on Yelp and saw this shop with the great reviews. It is close by my office so I gave them a call to see if I needed to make an appointment. To my surprise he said they were wide open. I took my car there and was told to pull in when the previous car finished. I had to stay in my car for the inspection but was having difficulty pulling up my insurance card on my app (they must have made changes). While I tried to do that they said I could get out of my car while doing it. I finally downloaded the card and showed him. They patiently waited while I got my insurance card and just like that I was done. Quick and easy! I'm so glad I found this place. Definitely recommended!!! read more

As others have already mentioned, this is a fantastic place in town to get your safety inspection, especially if you need one done right away (call beforehand, just to be safe!). My safety inspection was past due, so I needed to go to a place that can accommodate me on that same day, and this shop was able to do so! Not only were they able to take me in right away, but they completed the inspection in record time -- 10 minutes, tops!! It was the quickest safety check ever! Super rad. These guys didn't even talk money or charges when I pulled up. They were just attentive to my auto dilemmas and tried to find out what was wrong. It's called CUSTOMER COURTESY and it seemed like a forgotten science of business until I pulled into this shop. I went twice actually and both times they were busy but still tried to help me. I finally made it on the rack today for a safety inspection and to see what's wrong with 210k mile Honda (besides having 210k miles). Well, they fixed one problem with some quick mechanic trick fix, and assessed the other problem and gave me some good advice which, I just researched and found out that he was money. read more

Went here for a safety check today. The guys were nice, fast, and the shop was clean and well lit. They even gently removed my old sticker for me (other places I've been to just put the new one over the old one). It was $15 and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. They're on Waimanu St in the light blue building that has the humpback whale painting on the wall facing Ward Ave (if you google street map it, you'll see what I mean). The entrance to the place is the size of a single car garage door, but the inside can fit a good amount of cars. They guided me back out when i reversed to leave. Could not be happier with our experience here! We've had such trouble getting our Jeep repaired and the safety passed since my husband returned from deployment. We finally had gotten every problem fixed and wanted to get our safety done asap. They were nice enough to stay late and take us so we didn't have to wait until the next day to get it done.
