The 3D movie is a waste of money. Not worth the $7 you pay. You will regret if you do the movie. Stick to the water any only water.

The kids are finally old enough to enjoy a waterpark so we decided to make our first trip to Great wolf lodge this past weekend. We only live a couple hours away so i had high hopes for this place. The good: - The kids really enjoyed the Water park. - Alot of life guards on duty The bad: - Rooms are very dated. - Bathroom was terrible, cracked floor tiles and very dim lighting (like a 5watt bulb dim) - Food options are pretty bad. The buffet restaurant for dinner had like no kid friendly (2 and 5 yr old) food options which only left the pizza place which was crowded and service was very slow. Also took about 25mins to get some wings cooked. The really bad: since dinner took forever, we didn't get back to the room until about 9pm. The kids were tired and we setup the bed for them. I was going to sleep on the sleeper sofa and once I pulled out the bed section it was very dirty. The mattress cover seemed to have old dried up blood spots ( I am guessing here, cant confirm its blood) all over it and other stains. I called the front desk to let them know and to send over a new mattress cover. This was at 9:15pm. 10pm hits and still noone. I called back again and asked how much longer it would take as we were trying to put the kids to bed and didn't want to have someone knocking on the door coming in and waking them up. They said it would be up shortly. At about 10:30pm, almost 1.5 hours later, I called saying I would just take a bunch of extra sheets to put over the dirty mattress cover because it was taking so long. They told me I would have to go to the front desk to get it. Fine, ill walk, who knows how long it would take to get them delivered. I head to the front desk, pickup the sheets, head back to the room, and someone is there adding a mattress pad to the sofa bed almost 2 hours later since my initial call. Appretnly they had told him I asked for a mattress pad not a new mattress cover, so after 2 hours i didn't even get what i asked but the mattress pad went over the dirty sheets so whatever. The guy was nice and apologetic and explained that he was the only person doing housecalls that night and they had 400 rooms booked (bad management). I may give them another chance since they kids really enjoyed the water park, but I haven't decided yet. We were looking to add this place to our yearly visits to Busch gardens/Kings dominion etc but this visit didn't really leave a good impression. read more

This place gets 5 stars in my book! I think what really helped my experience personally, was the low expectations I had going into the trip and how they were FAR exceeded! My 10 year old cousin raved about this place when she went last year. She said that she even liked it as much as Disney! I thought she was just putting on. But I can see, from a kid's perspective, why she would think that. Older kids have free reign of the place. They can go wherever they want, eat whatever they want with no fear on the parents part about their safety or whereabouts. The place is heavily staffed with great people and all the fun is safely contained. I saw kids with their wands and magiquest books running around for hours activating things, the water park is open until 9 which can be really fun after it gets dark, there was 'trick or treating' for the young kids as they all ran from station to station with their buckets and costumes ( we obviously went during Halloween season). There was a DJ and a costume party after dark. Everyone just looked really happy. My daughter is only 18 months and she loved totting around the arcade and through the lobby watching all the big kids. She loved the water park too! This was our first visit to GWL. It was AWESOME! Definitely won't be our last, I personally can't wait to go back. A few things worth addressing, based off the complaints of others: 1. Our room was super clean and overall really nice, we stayed in the grizzly bear suite. All the rooms have a mini fridge & mircowave, so bring lots of snacks from home to save $$ 2. Food cost. It's pricy compared to the dollar menu, yes. But I think the food cost is reasonable. The dinner buffet was 17.99 per person, which is comparable to a NICE buffet, and gwl buffet was nice. I would scope it out before you decide on it bc their special stations change. The pizza prices were comparable to sabarro or another pizza eatery. And it was GOOD ($2/slice $13ish/large). -- but you can always go into town and spend the same $70 at olive garden (or where ever) for a family of 4. 3. The Waterpark is very loud. Yes. I don't think we need to justify that? It's loud, there's tons of ppl, and lots of spraying water?? Of course it's loud. 4. The rooms are noisy. Yes. But it's a kids resort? I expected some level of loud kids? 5. The staff was so friendly. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and helpful. 6. Buy the souvenir refill cup! It's like $15 but you can help yourself to free refills from the fancy coke machine 9a-9p. 7. Yes the arcade charges you for the game card. But it's a one time fee. Just like Dave and busters. Makes it way easier then having to haul around quarters/tokens/tickets. 8. Your room key is a wrist band, you can also use it to charge to your room. That way you don't have to worry about your stuff at the park. Overall this was the best vacation we've had in a while. && already planning our next visit! read more

This is like a child's wonderland. It has everything a kid would love, awesome water park, games, crafts, and food. The downside is that everything is a la carte. Some activities are additional. A one night stay is pretty pricey already but you can save if you just stick to the water park. read more

We have been to Great Wolf Lodge twice.The service here is great.The only problems we had were that the ceilings were to thin so we could hear the people up there running.The room we stayed in smelled like cigarettes too.We did get a $50 credit for food on the second visit.Overall the experience there was great. read more

Great place to spend the weekend. I've been coming here for a few years now. Its unfortumate they took out the club for teens during the renovations. Its a must to check in early and arrive to the water park early. And avoid all food on premises for better and cheaper food within a 5 mile radius. Internet could use a hefty update however. Either way the place is fun even though I'm above the recommended age of 12 that other reviewers say is the maximum for fun. I say its more fun when you're older read more

I'm not sure what I had in mind, but some things about Great Wolf Lodge surprised me. We got back today after staying one night. I was surprised that the water park is all in one humungous room - I guess I was picturing different areas to explore. The lifeguards were very thorough and professional. The ground in the water park was not slick or mildewed. My children (ages 5 and 8) really enjoyed the water park, but it was very crowded. Getting a table, let alone a chair, was a task - you had to get there early so you could lay a towel overtop of it and walk away for hours... all the tables and the chairs are claimed but not a single person was sitting at them. We spent about 2 hours at the park on Friday before dinner, and another 2 hours on Saturday morning. The chlorine in the air is very intense! My eyes are still bothering me - and I never once dunked my head in the water. I'm not sure how long my family could have remained entertained at the water park. I think 1 night was enough for us. We had a room with 1 "full size" (I think? It was SMALL) bed and a pull-out couch. I had the misfortune of sleeping in the pull-out with my son, and it is was miserable. The bed is very short, so my feet were touching the cold metal couch frame, and the mattress was so lumpy. The mattress actually sloped to the couch, so your head was lower than your feet. We flipped so our heads were at the bottom, but that did not help AT ALL. The pull out was right next to the heater - which I'm fairly certain was blowing cold air. I got NO sleep at all. Many pre-teens roam the halls, elevators, and lobby in the evening, playing this game MagicQuest. It costs money to play, and it's scavenger hunt kids do without supervision. I don't have a pre-teen yet, and I'm sure this is a perk for that age group? The kids seemed frustrated and panicked and there were a lot of complaints that the game and wands weren't working. It was annoying. Kids were yelling through the hallways and banging on doors and running away. Luckily, our room was further down the hallway from the lobby - I think the closer you are to the lobby, the worse it is. All in all, it was "fine". I'm glad we did it. The facilty was amazing and the kids had a wonderful time. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday and the line was almost out of the door for check in but to my pleasure our room was ready so there was no additional wait after the check in. The waterpark was great and there was so much for the kids to enjoy there and around the facility. We dined at the buffet one evening and the food was great. The only complaint that I have is that the sofabed mattress had to be one of the most uncomfortable mattresses ever. I understand that these mattresses are pretty thin anyway but this one was so thin that you felt as if you were laying on the springs so that was disappointing. I would definitely return but would not consider the sleeper bed sofa as a sleep option. read more

After reading all the bad reviews I can't say that I was looking forward to staying at GWL. It was a surprise for my 7 year old daughter for promoting to the 2nd grade. 1st thing...check in was a BREEZE! It took literally 5 minutes and I was set. There was no long lines and there were two people at the desk. My family and I stayed in the KidCabin suite and right away my daughter loved the bunk beds and cabin area. Because of the bad reviews about the state of the rooms, I really inspected the bathroom, the beds, and the kid area. Nothing no scratches or anything! Housekeeping never left enough washcloths and towels but I called the desk and they were sent right away. I had a balcony on the first floor but it looked out to the back of the park (which is nothing out there) and it was not fenced in which meant that my 20 month old could not sit outside without wandering off. The water park was great! My son who is 20 months had plenty to do as well as my 7 year old. My husband also enjoyed himself immensely! I purchased a WolfPass and added breakfast for each morning of our stay so my daughter did many activities. She did MagiQuest briefly but she liked the water park and the Cub Club more. The waterpark was never crowded, there was never a long wait for any ride, and once we were back in the room for the night my kids were so pooped that they went right to sleep! Overall, GWL was an excellent kid themed waterpark that I will be visiting again in the future. read more

Our first time here and it was ok considering that we got a military special that made the room around half off. If we would have paid anywhere near full price I would not be happy. The best thing about the place was their very impressive, friendly staff. It's not often that I am so pleased with staff, but they were great! A couple examples... The manager moved her personal vehicle so we could park our car (more on the parking later). Our friend's young daughter tried the surf simulator and immediately and completely wiped out and ran away crying. She worked up the courage to try again and the attendant was so sweet and patient showing her how to do it and encouraging her. She did it and came back to our table with a huge smile. A few minutes later the attendant was walking by our area and stopped to tell her how great she did and gave her a high 5! Most of the staff was young (college age), but almost all were out of their way friendly and mature. Now the not so great... The parking is ridiculous. There just aren't enough spots. And for the prices they charge - make a larger lot! Offer a shuttle! Valet! I'm sure we aren't the only ones with a multiple hour drive with antsy kids. There is nothing more frustrating than getting to your destination and having to drive around the parking lot for over a half hour to no avail. The only reason I got a space after that was that I parked in front of the front door, went in to talk to a manager and she offered to move her own car. She was awesome, but it was just an unnecessary, stressful start to our trip. In total is was over an hour of parking issues before we could even begin unloading. And there were MANY other cars still circling the lot when we were gifted our space. Then we get into the pool area... there are no tables or chairs available. My spouse and I were left standing there with armloads of towels and flip flops so that our kids could go swim. There was nowhere to even set the items for a moment for quite a long time. But never fear, you can guarantee yourself a table....how? Rent a cabana. After our stressful, terrible first day experience we thought we would do this for the next day. Then we found out the cost - - $130!!! Some of these hotel rooms run $500-600+/night, and they have the nerve to charge $130 to ensure that you can enjoy the very expensive experience you already paid an arm and a leg for! The room was ok. Nothing special, slightly dark and outdated. Comfy beds, but terrible pillows. Tiny TV and NO water pressure. Terrible balcony view over a mess of air conditioners or the water treatment area or something. We went to the storytime and it was a madhouse, couldn't hear a thing. Food was expensive for what you got. We paid $6 for a burger that was burnt on one side, smaller than a McDonalds $1 burger, absolutely no toppings (they were $1 each to add anything to it) just a tiny piece of meat on a bun, and no sides with that, not even a pickle. There are other activities, but of course everything except the pool area is an extra cost. My kids liked the arcade, but it was so crowded with the machines too close together and noisy. Finally, at the significantly discounted rate we got, I might pack my own food (and my patience) and go for a night because my kids did love the water park. I wouldn't stay multiple nights. And I wouldn't even consider going at full price rate. read more

This place is unbelievable, the kids had a blast. The entire place is geared towards the kids aka little people. The prices are a little on the high side but overall a really good place. The staffs were amazing, and very helpful. At the time of this review I was chilling in the hot tub sipping on the relaxation adult beverage. Life is good, there is another thing that the GWL does its the arm band it's the keys to your room and you can charge virtually anything without having your wallet or cash. It was so awesome we extended it for two more days....shhhh don't want the little people to know...I have included some pics the place is really extraordinary, but out of respect to my family and others getting pics to post was a little hard hopefully this will help you. read more

My family and I recently visited Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg VA. We had a great time!. I would rate the experience overall as being somewhere between average and above average. check in went pretty quickly, we had visited another location before so I knew that there would be a wait, when we did get to the desk our room was ready and we were able to go right to our room. The room was spacious and clean and we had no issues in the room at all. The waterpark was great , we loved all of the rides, the lifeguards were very good and very attentive. My one complaint was they closed down most of the waterpark rides at around 6-7 p.m. with no explanation. However the next day we made up for it and spent may hours in the water park before leaving the resort. Breakfast was great , I think it is a good value and if you are going to eat inside of Greatwolf lodge one of the meals I would choose to do so is the breakfast buffet. My one other complaint is I left my bluetooth in the room , we checked out on Thursday and I did not realize until later that evening, I called the front desk and was told to call back in the morning for housekeeping, when I did so I was told to go online to fill out paperwork for lost item. Since we were still in town I chose to go by there , they looked in the system and said one was not found but I could still go online and if they find it they would mail to me. The system is a good system I believe but I am not sure that it was not actually found. seems odd. I know exactly where I left it. Other than that it was a great time for all. read more

3.5 stars I really think one's take on this place is going to be based on the number and ages of their children. (If you don't have kids I don't think you're going to like this place much). I say this because either you, as a parent, are going to have a nice relaxing time, or you're going to be busy every second you are there. If your kids are between the ages of about 8 and 13 or so they, and you, are going to have a blast and love every second of it. If you have a toddler who you have to keep an eye on constantly as well as older kids you will love it. If you have multiple kids who are young and require constant watch then THEY will love it, but you'll be worn out! The waterpark: the immediate impression of the indoor portion: wow, this is kinda small. Then you look around and realize the entire thing is indoor and you become impressed at how much stuff they got into an indoor waterpark. In reality at the indoor portion there are 4 "big" slides, 2 medium slides which are attached to this large playground-type thing, two young kid/toddler slides (3 if you count one in the outdoor pool area), one decent size wave pool, a smallish lazy river, a body boarding ride, hot tubs, and a pool with a "probably could do something better with the space" stepping stones across the pool thing. If you have kids who are good swimmers and are responsible they can easily go by themselves and have a great day. Older teens will probably get bored after a few hours. Younger kids will love it as well and they have life-vests readily available for your use. Crowds: Obviously the total crowd size is limited by the number of people who can stay at the hotel. I never felt like it was overcrowded, but by about noon it was getting to where you'd have to wait a bit to ride the larger rides. The place was a near ghost town when the doors opened (at 9 AM for us) and would stay that way for a couple hours before getting a little busier. Rooms: We had one of the Majestic Bear Suites. It was perfect for our group, but the rooms are starting to show some age. Just the little things you can tell, cracks here, stains there, a corner of wall paper starting to peel, etc. These things are not a deal breaker for me because the room was still clean; however, one just gets the sense an update should be coming soon. Cabanas: We got one for the day we were at the lodge all day for. I wasn't sure what to expect for tables/chairs etc throughout the park so I opted for one (we opted for an inside cabana). I would say it isn't totally necessary, except it would be nice in one particular instance. The cabana comes with drinks in a fridge, a newspaper, a TV, and some playing cards. Unlike other cabana places that I have been to in the past these cabanas do not have any upgraded service features like a button to push to call an attendant, or an attendant at all. They do come with a "free" locker rental for the day, but it would be nice to have a safe in the actual cabana instead. It would also be a nice benefit to be able to have a button or some way to order food/additional drinks from the cabana. Instead you have to take your happy/don't want to move/i'm too lazy to do it behind over to the food places and bring it back yourself. The reason I don't think it's totally necessary is if you get there at a reasonable time in the morning there are PLENTY of places to set yourself and carve out a little niche area for your family/group. If you get there later in the day it may be a little harder, but in reality your room is just around the corner. The one time I think a cabana would be great is on the day of your check-out if you are planning on staying all day at the waterpark before leaving. Getting all your stuff out of the room and into the cars etc and then going to the waterpark is a little bit of a pain, not bad, but a little. With a cabana on that day you could have a place to put all your changing clothes, etc etc and have a place to rest that isn't super busy for the day. Food: Several options on the property, including a pizza place, a typical restaurant, a Dunkin Donuts and a burger-type food place. The food is fine, it's nothing great, it's slightly overpriced, but what resort isn't. The DD line can get a little long in the morning depending on when you go so go earlier if you can. For lunch you are probably stuck on the property as you'll likely be in the waterpark; however, for dinner I'd recommend getting in the car and driving 5-10 minutes away as there are lots of options not too far away for better food. Other: As almost everyone else notes, unless you buy a package EVERYTHING ELSE IS EXTRA MONEY. I'm okay with that, but just be aware that when you bring your kids they are going to want to do the MAGIQUEST, the bowling alley, game room, etc etc etc. The prices aren't unreasonable for these things, but it's just something to be aware of. We went to the Thanksgiving Day Lunch. The food & staff were excellent ! Especially the pan seared duck breast with parsnips. The only drawback was our server. He failed to remove any dishes- they made quite a pile by the end of the meal also forget about drink refills. The manager did ask and was very concerned about our complaint....big plus. Overall the pluses outweighed the lousy server....it was well worth it...afterall it was a buffet. read more

Thank you Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg! Our first visit and all I can say is WOW! Kids loved it. From the watermark to the rooms, magic quest to the arcade. Pricey but realize it is for the experience as well as the stay. Wolf Pass is a must to save some dough as well as the souvenir cup. First I will start with the positive, waterpark was super fun, we came as a family with our two and four year old, there were plenty of rides and pools they each could do and they really enjoyed themselves. The food and drinks inside the waterpark were really good too and averaged priced. They provided towels and safety vests And had good amounts of seating and tables, the waits for slides and other activities was very reasonable. One thing about the inside is I didn't see a changing area that would've been helpful. Secondly, we bought paw passes for our kids and those were worth it and helped with the experience. The stores were nice and decently priced for items and the staff at the activities and stores were pleasant and helpful. Lastly, to the negative part. We had an issue with our room not being cleaned after the first night, called to get it fixed but apparently they were backed up from other similar issues, when I went down to customer service or check in area I spoke to housekeeping manager and he sent someone right over and even offered a discount for inconvenient. We had another issue later that night around 1045pm where the guests above ours were making so much noise, it sounded like they were running and jumping around, anyway we called it in and again we got the song and dance about how there were only a few people available to address the noise and they will go in the order the calls were received. Fifteen minutes later noise was still happening, I called and an operator by the name of Chris had the worst customer service handling the call and even hung up on me mid conversation. Needless to say the noise didn't stop until about midnight. Next day I went to speak to a manager about the noise and being hung up on and I have to say that I wasn't satisfied with her response. She stated that perhaps something was wrong with the phone where the call "dropped", hmm a landline dropped huh. Poor response I feel, she defended her employee essentially making the customer feel like they misinterpreted the situation. Her response should have been as follows, I am truly sorry that you had that experience, I assure that we will look into the situation and address and issues we find with the employee or the phone lines. read more

The Wolf Den accomodation was great. Our 7year old loved the bunk bed & tv in his room. The water park was clean and fun for all. The onsite buffet was expensive and not that good. Jungle Jim's was expensive and not that good. Magic quest was fun but expensive. read more

Waterpark was the best, worth the price of the room for the family of 6 however the lobby restaurant was overpriced and food was HORRIBLE. Next time I come back, we will eat out! The games and adventures were overpriced too and we decided not to take it. Waterpark was enough for my kids. I had a good wifi in my room and the room was nice clean. No complaint about the room. We are on our way home from a 3-night stay. I was worried after reading some reviews before going, but I'm glad they didn't stop us. The trip was great! Our room was clean, the beds were a little uncomfortable, but clean. The water park was really cool. If you have older kids, around 8+, you may want to do the paw pass for additional activities. I have two younger ones, 3 & 6, and bought the pass. They would've been happy with just the water park and free character activities. Between a 3 night stay, activities, and food - we spent over $1,000. It's not cheap. The fun, smiles, and laughter made it worthwhile though. I highly recommend this place for a nice, fun trip for active and energetic families. read more

My family of 5 just spent 3 days at Great Wolf and LOVED IT! It truly is a resort for families! We checked in and did the magi quest. I was disappointed my 3 girls weren't "into" it as much as I was.. But other kids were loving it! The next day we spent all day at the water park. Doing the water park on a weekday is the way to go! We noticed Saturday was pretty packed as we passed the water park. There is something for all ages though. Towels are warm too! No need to bring swimmers or life vests, the resort has all that provided for you. We were really impressed with the quality of the food at the Loose Moose restaurant. The service was friendly too! It was one of my daughters birthdays so we received a complimentary ice cream at the sweet treat shop each day. The last night we bowled at the bowling alley which was a lot of fun. We also played some games they have. My kids loved it! Overall, we had a great time, made happy memories and as parents that's a successful vacation. read more

My gripe with this place is that I didn't come up with the idea to attach a 3-star water park to a 2-star hotel and charge $500 a night. We've been here many times and I'm sure we'll be back because my kids absolutely love it. I just wish they could find a way to bring a little Disney magic to the place so I felt better about shelling out all of that money. In case management reads this I will add that the lifeguard staff is inconsistent. First, with rule enforcement, secondly with personality. The girl in the splash pool at the bottom of the howling tornado was visibly upset when she got splashed as we got out of the raft which made me laugh. All in all, I'd give GWL 4 stars if you can get a room for under $200. Knock a star off for each $100 you spend above that. read more

Short version, great amusements, not so great food. The water park is fantastic. The kids love magic quest. Your kids will love you for coming here. That said, you may as well leave your electronics at home, the wifi is a joke. We have come here several times, some trips the food has been good, others, not so much. The buffet at a kid park should be able to manage chicken nuggets, hot dogs, Mac and cheese, but no. This trip the buffet was just sad. Breakfast was done reasonably well, but dinner was a disappointment. With the fun stuff to do on site, we don't want to have to get in the car for meals, but your aren't giving us any help here, GWL, unless we eat Dunkin donuts for every meal. Seriously the loudest place on earth!! You hear everything in these rooms, they are not sound proof AT ALL! The hotel looks dirty and grungy not to mention one of the attractions is down. Oh and when we're in the water park all the doors leading to the outside are propped open so anytime you walk by you get a freezing chill with a 20 degree difference. The only thing I like about the place is the wristband that open the room doors so you don't have to carry around a key card every where you go. I won't come back again! read more

This is a bad experience for me on dec 15, 2018, i place a reservation online $25 per night with promo codes and in the process of paying everything went back to the home pages, so i online chat wolf lodge and she cant help me and advise me to call so i did call and left a message to call me back, waited for a day plus me trying to call no answer nor return calls, on the second day finally some one answer and guess what? promo is over and now i have to pay for $150 to 369 per night. Pro's: the water park is great, magi quest is great and most importantly my 7 year old had a blast! Cons: It is very expensive to stay here. We payed over 1,000.00 to stay for 2 nights that included 4 water park passes. I thought for 1,000.00 the service would be great but it was not! You have to wait forever to check into your room. I expect to hear kids yelling and screaming however not in my room. the rooms are not sound proofed at all! The beds are uncomfortable. Most resorts that charge this much seem to roll out the red carpet for its guests, not here. The food is way over priced and not very good. They also appear to be short staffed. read more

Ok I guess. if you go on a trip and want to look around the area and explore somewhere you've never been before, don't bother if you have kids, they won't want to leave the hotel, I thought hotel was overpriced, waterpark was great, i just think that you spend so much,. and then you have to buy a pass for the quest thing, another $50, and then you need tokens for the arcade, more $$$, and just adds up to not really worth it. my kid disagrees with this assessment by the way. read more

I am laying in bed listening to loud overhead pop music that's been playing for 40 minutes now. It's 7:35am. One kid is awake and grumpy. I just can't believe they have kids activities til 11pm, then have this ridiculous music playing loudly before 7am. I am sure this isn't audible to all guests, but I know we're not the only ones suffering. read more

We had a nice time. Very clean place. Not to bad during the week. The weekend it's game on around here. Didn't have any hot water for a shower this afternoon. First cold shower I've had in a while. Food is wayyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced and really not all that. Our room was really nice. Plan on bringing money for the in house stuff like the magic quest. The wand s $30 and that is just for the base one. All in all we had a good time. It's about 10 min from Williamsburg and the shops and outlets! Would I do it again ..hmmmmm...if I got a good deal yes, but this is one of those it's a once in a lifetime place unless you like to spend a lot of money just for the heck of it. read more

Pros: rooms are nice, staff is great Cons: very expensive, water park gets boring after a few hours, MagicQuest = standing in line for 30+ minutes to do battle + glitchy system + wands that crap out easily...making for very sad kids and very frustrated parents, inadequate central stairs, too few elevators and luggage carts, very loud! read more
