The food here is amazing !!! This was my 1st hidden jewel I found since moving to the area with yelps help of course. The menu is huge , the staff and actually some of the patrons were eager to help me make a selection!! I would eat here every night if I could !! I've been ordering from here for years and the food always been great. It really did fall off lately though. I ordered a chicken gyro the other day along with other items. It wasn't the same as it use to be. The chicken gyro strips were dried out and hard. Also the gyro my wife ordered didn't taste like it usually does. The cheesecake tasted good though. The Greek salad was average. They did use a little too much dressing though. I won't be ordering from here anymore. I called and spoke to the manager and asked for a refund. The only thing he offered me is a break the next time I order. By the way I know a few people who have complaints about this place too. read more

We ordered from here one time and one time only. I had the Gyro pita sandwich - meat was so greasy, the pita was drenched in grease! I asked for no onions, and there were extra onions. My girlfriend had the Greek salad with gyro meat... again the meat was greasy and ruined all the lettuce. Her salad had soggy tomatoes, and very little feta cheese. We shared an app of dolmas... which the flavor was just OK. We also, both got so sick for two days due to the amount of grease used with the food. Never again. read more

This review is solely based on the second time eating at this establishment. My first experience was good but it's the follow-up that determines if a business is worth frequenting. I ordered the gyro and souvlaki platter (chicken), spinach pie, and two extra pitas and once I got home and it was (pork) and one pita missing. I called to let them know and they obliged to fix the order but it was only the meat versus the entire meal! I explained I don't consume pork so that should have been the sign to make an ENTIRE new order. Upon arrival I was given a tin with meat that was scarce and the rice was given in a small container, which didn't add up to the meal I originally ordered. Once I got home my family and I were HIGHLY disappointed with not only the service but taste, the salad was submerged in water barely any lettuce and the meat was tasteless along with the rice. Dinner for four. Three disappointing dishes! Pork was dry and roasted potatoes were boiled. Chicken on Greek salad was overdone and without seasoning. There was no dressing on this salad and none was included in delivery. Shepards pie crust was soggy and lamb was overdone. Recently moved to Franklin Square and was craving some lamb gyro... This place was a huge disappointment.. I read some reviews, some bad some good and i figured how bad could it be... The lamb, or whatever meat is was was disgusting, It was the same as the diners serve, It was like a beef mold though my dog liked it.. Ive had better gyro plates from street vendors. This family owned buisness has been cooking, baking and serving authentic greek food for generations.They are open 7 days a week and the food is made fresh daily and it's all prepared on premises. The lamb souvlaki, with their signature home made tzatziki sauce- Out of this world! You also have to try their mouth watering desserts. The home-made cheescake is by far the best found anywhere and is made fresh daily by the owner himself. The meats, the sauce's, the salads, and the desserts were simply delicious. Visited here a month ago to get the buy 2 get 1 deal on the Gyro. The first problem is the guys in back are not using gloves when cooking - I was immediately turned off and was seriously going to walk out. I stuck around for my order because I figured how many other places do we eat at where we don't know what the heck is going on in the kitchen. Plus I figure if the food is coming out hot should kill some of the germs. So the price was good because of the deal I got - paid $13 for 3 gyros. I was not crazy about the taste of the tsatziki sauce (the white sauce) there is something in it that is slightly different from other tsatziki sauces I've had elsewhere. Wow what happened to this place. We used to go there but stopped because I didn't want to deal with their staff as they can be very rude. I just had the grossest takeout. Ordered a falafel sandwich and could only eat half. The falafel balls were burned and tasted weird. Then they slopped this gross sauce on it which also tasted weird and turned it all into mush. Then we had this salad that was a pile of slop downing in sauce which also turned everything into mush. We also tried the lentil soup which was ok but they killed it by adding too much of a season that I can't identify. So much so that you couldn't taste the lentil in the lentil soup. This place needs to retrain the cook staff and teach the counter staff how to treat customers. I won't be going back. read more

Did not have enough sauce and I found myself crunching down on something that felts like little rocks or dirt in my mouth. I had to spit out that portion of the meal. Then the flood gates opened up and I was in the bathroom throwing up all night and into the next morning. It is monday night and I still feel queazy. My sister and I ordered food to pick up. After we had called them to find out it was ready and told them we were on our way, they sent it out for delivery anyway. My sister showed up to pick it up and it wasn't there!!! She had decided to pay in the restaurant since she was there. The girl had the nerve to charge her an extra $2.00 per sandwich for feta cheese. You'd think they would waive that for wasting our time. She actually made it back home before the food did, so our food was wondering the streets for a bit, I guess. When we got it, our fries were completely burnt and the chicken souvlaki had a very weird taste. Almost like a kitchen cleanser. We couldn't even eat it. We will never order from this place again. All our food was greasy and fatty. Our spanikopita was burned on top. They use way too much garlic. My stomach was upset right away and my companion was sick during the night. So goooooood. Ate at the Carle Place location. Everything was made with fresh high quality ingredients. Ordered the horiatiki salad, it was so refreshing on such a hot day. The feta was awesome! Chunks of ripe tomatoes, crunchy cucumbers, 3 different kinds of olives, thin sliced red onion, plump capers, and the dressing, mmmmmm. The oregano was amazing, it was like lemony, earthy & floral all at the same time, woke up my taste buds in a good way. Everything was ice cold and crunchy & it came with warm grilled pita. My bf got the philly cheese steak. It was on a huge fresh bakery hero roll. The beef was great. Fresh sauteed onions and green peppers done perfectly and all topped off with melted mozzarella. Best Philly around. The large sized anything is more like xxl, including the iced tea, which was fresh brewed. The only thing that was wrong its that it wasnt busy! I wanted to try this place out since I was craving Greek food so ordered delivery tonight. I live not even 3 minutes away by car and my order took 55 minutes exact. Granted we ordered three entrées but it shouldn't take no more than 35 - 40 minutes for it to arrive being that I live right there. Most of the food that arrived tasted okay. My beef wasn't tender. It was a bit dry and hard but the rice that it came with was good. I also liked the Greek salad. I loved that it was a good size and it actually went with a grape leaf! The sauce they had for the Greek salad was also delicious. I tried my sisters entree and the vegetables that it went with was extremely greasy!!! I love mushrooms so I asked if I could have a piece and when I took a small bite from it, my lips because drenched with oil!!! I was like "hmm...that's not right. Let me try another piece of veggie to make sure I just didn't get an oily piece" and what do you know...my lips were drenched again. Worst customer service of any restaurant I have seen. I ordered twice from them for delivery recently. With the order 2 weeks ago I called them back after an hour and was told "sorry we forgot about your order". Today I called in an order for delivery, waited 45 minutes and was given the old "it's out for delivery" excuse. 25 minutes later (70 minutes total) the order is delivered. It is very unfortunate, this place has good food, but the delivery and customer service SUCKS!!! I used to order from here all the time. I no longer will. The last THREE times I ordered from here my food came over 1 and 1/2 hours later and was ICE COLD! To the point that it was an inedible soggy mess! Right now I ordered food at 12:00 on the dot, it is 1:37 and still nothing! and the nasty man on the phone when I called said "It's out already! Any minute!" The food is horrible. I just went there the other night and I should of walked out. The place is filthy!! OMG, do they need a good cleaning!! Food is great, but their customer service is slowly going down the tubes. I believe part of the issue is they've gotten too big too fast, and quality control is now out of whack. Not only has my father in law has had past issues there, but when my husband went to pick up food during dinner rush hour yesterday, they only had two people behind the counter, and had to wait 20 minutes for the food. I guess the rest of their staff was at their new Carle Place location. They gave my husband the wrong salad (how you mix up shrimp and turkey is beyond me, and not only did they give him turkey, it was about 4 pounds of just cold cut turkey meat thrown on top of lettuce. How about turkey strips, or small diced pieces, morons? ) and we didn't get some of the sides that we specifically ordered that is included with our platters.
