Service was epitome of Gen Z terrible lol. Waited in line- and all I got was a half nod so I asked if I could order and I got the typical annoyed Gen Z stare and half annoyed look. I'm sorry I annoyed you with ordering my food...?! When my food was ready, they didn't even let me know just randomly plopped it on top of the counter. Ok, whatever. But maybe at least call out my name or the dish I ordered? I asked for a cup of water and was handed an empty cup- asked where to get water and she still seemed annoyed saying they don't offer free water. We ordered a Greek salad with falafel, but when I got back to my hotel and opened the container, it was just shredded lettuce, nothing else. No toppings, no falafel, not even any dressing. I paid $17 for a box of plain lettuce. Really disappointing. Update: upgrading this from one star to three stars because they apologized. I liked the Greek Grotto, located inside the Kuhio Food Court. It was easy to order, the service was friendly and the food came out quickly. There's a lot of seating in the court but it can also get very crowded, so finding a seat can be challenging. I had the Rice plate with chicken. It had seasoned chicken, cauliflower, and zucchini with basmati rice and covered in tzatziki sauce. It was great! I couldn't finish it, but I wanted to! My daughter had the Greek fries and the hummus with pita which she said was really good. The Kuhio Food Court has a big selection of restaurants to choose from and I'm glad I chose Greek Grotto! read more

The selection of food at the Greek Grotto is limited but that helps them out it together somewhat quickly with only the 2 people working. One of the things that I've come to appreciate about Honolulu is the diverse food offerings that can be found everywhere. I never thought I'd be enjoying Greek food in Hawaii but that is exactly what I found myself doing during one of the first days of my recent trip to Oahu. Greek Grotto is located inside Kuhio Food Hall. Their menu consists of gyro wraps, rice plates and greek salads. Meat choices include beef, lamb, chicken and falafel. They also have hummus, baba ganoush and pita bread. I chose to get a rice plate with beef and lamb for $17. The plate included basmati rice with roasted cauliflower, zucchini, egg plant and tzaziki sauce. Overall I thought the flavors were on point. The meat was tender and paired quite well with the tasty rice and veggies. I did think $17 was a little bit on the high side but nevertheless did enjoy my meal here. read more

Not sure about the scathing reviews here but honestly had a pretty good meal at Greek Grotto. Swung by on a weeknight with some friends and decided I needed to have a falafel wrap and fries or else I would die :P Always dramatic when it comes to food. I grabbed a falafel wrap with greek fries and it took about ~10-15 min for my food to come out. To be fair, this place was manned by 1 person for the most part with a second person intermittently helping so I wasn't anticipating the fastest turn around. The service wasn't super friendly but it wasn't rude or brusque by any means -- clearly just someone who had to do multiple things at once. The wrap itself was filled to the brim with giant falafel that were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The fries were ridiculous in a good way and I would totally get them again -- the tzatziki sauce at this place was incredible and I'd put it on everything if you let me. All in all, it was pretty darn good for a food court type situation and the portions are definitely on the bigger side. The prices are a little steep but I think the taste and portion make up for it. Parking is likely to be paid parking but we walked here so recommend doing the same! read more

We stumbled upon this place in the Kuhio food hall in Waikiki and I'm so glad we did! There were a lot of option around but I love Greek food and wanted to try. My husband got a beef/lamb gyro and I got a salad. They were both delicious! I would definitely go back again if I'm in Waikiki. The price was normal and we got a lot of food. We were both stuffed after. The food came out pretty quickly as well. It's in a food hall so it's pretty busy and crowded but we were able to find a seat. Please save your money. The food is incredibly underwhelming and over priced. To add to that, I've ate here twice in the past year and have seen the workers prepare plates using the same gloves that they had on for Lord knows how long. They should be changing out their gloves often. Instead, I watched a boy take an order, clean the counter, prep the customer's order (touching food; preps the rice, vegetables, meat), use a walkie talkie to ask for help, take her payment (cash), then continue on someone else's order all using the same gloves that he'd been wearing before I even got there. I want to note that he was really sweet, but I think the staffing could use a refresher on kitchen sanitation and hygiene. read more

I'm limited to food options due to dietary restrictions so I was happy to find a place with healthier options. The food is great but I wanted to give a thumbs down to the service. I ordered, but the worker who took it ran off to do something to the back and did not put my order (the physical order print out needed to prepare the order into the rotation). It wasn't until I was seeing them work on other orders after mine that I asked if they had forgotten my order. How long would I have had to wait if I didn't say something. They did apologize and immediately worked on my order. I had paid an extra $1.50 for to go. When I received my order, the handle of the bag was dirty/greasy from the gloves after preparing the food. I purchased the rice dish with 4 pieces of meat and 90% rice, and it was cold. My wife got a gyro which was also cold. Not impressed, I've eaten much better. Luckily I'm a Gyro lover and love me a stuffed wrap with all the fixings Greek with a choice of Beef & Lamb, Chicken or Falafel it's topped with tzaziki sauce, lettuce, tomato all wrapped up in a pita bread served with a small side Greek Salad (lettuce, tomato, red onions, cucumber and feta with house greek dressing which is like a vinaigrette. Though there are ample seating available both in and outdoors, I decided to make it to go and chill upstairs on the rocking chair which is one of the feature I do love about the International Market Place there are various types of seating all around but on the second floor there are a few large rocking chairs that are places right in front a water feature is just so relaxing, The Gyro was just yummy...all the filling was fresh and delicious the sauce ties it all together and it was bliss. Having that salad was an added fresh bite I actually wanted to add it to the gyro lol!! Besides a wrap you are able to make it into a Rice Plate or Greek Salad but the next time I do have my eye on the Greek Fries and Hummus. Super easy and convenient as the parking elevator is just steps away and with a minimum of $10 for validation that makes it next to nothing to have your gyro and relax to eat it too!! On a Friday night, we went to Waikiki for dinner. Everywhere we looked, lines extended outside of restaurants. As we walked around we noticed Greek Grotto. Glad we came here. For some time, we wanted to dine on Greek food. This provided the perfect opportunity for us to try this place. Greek Grotto provided a limited menu. But the dishes looked abundant with ingredients. We ordered the rice plates. Joseph requested the Gyro Plate. I asked for the falafel plate. Accompanied with 5 falafels, the food came with large pieces of eggplant, chopped cauliflower, parsley, dill, tzatziki sauce on top of a bed of yellow rice. The flavors of the falafel plate have a good taste. However, with the regular size falafels tasted a bit salty and dry. The cauliflower tasted a bit watered down. But overall, it made a good meal. The service rated an A+. It did not take long for the food to arrive. So glad that the Greek Grotto set up a kiosk here in Waikiki. They seem to do well. Come and bring friends, family and a date. So right now Honolulu has a mandate that you must either be vaccinated or show a negative COVID test within 48 hrs. I'm fine, but my friend isn't vaccinated so it's been a real pain getting a COVID test every 2 days when you're vacationing for a week. That being said, we ended up in a food court for dinner. Found in the Kuhio Avenue Foodhall, this is such a hidden gem. The beef was tender and flavorful plus the sauce was the perfect touch. They don't skimp on portions, this is to say you will be holding onto your gyro for dear life while trying to finish it. Service was quick - I went at around 4:30-5 and my food was ready in under 10 minutes. The foodhall this is in runs like a food court so there is quite a bit of noise and crowd. They provide outdoor tables for seating but you can easily take this to the beach if you prefer. read more

I work in Waikiki at the tattoo shop across the street and I eat here all the time!!!!!! When you work on the block you have eaten everywhere and probably 50 times so you know what is good and what is not, this place is great!!! I am also kinda picky and don't like tomatoes, I like my pita a little more hot than warm and I like my tzatziki on the side so I am kinda a pain in the butt however whenever I am in search for "what to eat today" I always walk by and if Daniel is working, I always chose to eat here because he never gives me grief and knows how I like it so when I get back to my shop it's always perfect. Only one guy working behind the counter but as I watched him crafting up the fries I knew I wanted them. The Greek fries are a must try!!! We finally found our way to Waikiki to try this greek restaurant. Honestly, it was okay. I wouldn't make the trip from Ewa to Waikiki again for it though. We got there right after they opened at 11 AM and were first in line. We tried the beef & lamb gyros and the greek fries. The food was hot, and the fries were crispy. The gyro was a little dry but had a good taste. Could've used more tzaziki sauce. The fries were really good. A combination of salty and creamy with a good crunch. Service was better than some of the other Yelper's comments. And yes, only one guy there. Worth a try IF you're out that way. read more

It's pretty good-decent. Given the limited competition for Greek cuisine in the area at this price point and a counter service restaurant, it's a good option for this location for this cuisine. Definitely fills the niche within a mile or so. I had the rice plate with gyro (lamb/beef). It's nice it's cooked on the spit. The meat was nicely cooked and piled on in a generous portion with tzatziki, fresh dill and parsley. Also a good amount of roasted eggplant and cauliflower. Proper amount of roasting with good moisture retention, so it had a nice crispy bite and was still juicy. It was served on a bed of basmati rice fragrant with Turmeric. Another nice surprise was live music playing which has it has been too long. For a random last minute walk in after a long arduous week of endless work it was nice to get some semblance of normalcy for a few moments with my family. read more

I was excited to try this place considering it's new and one of the few places to get Greek food in Honolulu. Unfortunately, I think I came on a bad day because this place was a huge disappointment. Food wise, everything had the potential to be great but today it wasn't. Hummus: peta was soft warm and delicious. But the hummus was not. We actually heard one of the workers in the back telling her coworker "we didn't make the hummus right, it needs to be moistened" and they were right. The hummus did have a nice flavor but it was was dry, clumpy and crumbly. Greek salad with Falafels: sorry to say the salad was very over dressed and acidic. Veggies were soggy from the dressing. Falafels we're cooked very well, I loved the texture how it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside however it was VERY salty. Salad couldn't be finished. Gyro with lamb and beef: peta was soft, warm and delicious. Veggies just as good. Gyro meat had a nice flavor to it but it was dry. Tzatziki and salad were delicious. I really hope we just came on a bad day because I really want this place to be successful. Hopefully it's just some early business hiccups. read more

They did a great falafel! For 15 bucks, I got a warm pita loaded with hot, crispy falafel, fresh lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and a sauce that I loved. There was a side salad, dressed with a nice vinaigrette. Great sandwich at a decent price with validated parking for the International market. read more
