Just started eating here and I am really pleased. The portions are so generous. I can't believe how much this guy can stuff into a pita! The fries were super crispy and yum. I haven't had the gyro plate but I saw him make one up and again SUPER generous servings. The owner is friendly and remembered us after only a few visits unlike other places around here where I feel like I've been going for years and the servers act like they've never seen me before. Great Greek Food! I couldn't decide whether to order the chicken or they gyro so I ordered the combo that had both. The chicken was very tender and seasoned perfectly. Gyro was even more tender. I had really hoped for better. The restaurant smelled a little "off" when I walked in. Maybe 3 or 4 other customers inside eating. I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the counter who patiently took my order. As true for many eastern Europeans, he does not wear deodorant. Mix that with the general feel and odor of the restaurant and it was really tough for me to place an order. No meat on this trip, I will be safe and order a falafel sandwich. 5-10 minutes later the order is ready. The sandwich is full of hamburger patty looking something that I would not call falafel, but he confirmed that it was. Maybe two little pieces of old lettuce and a few old tomato slices, all of which was engulfed in way too much tziki sauce.... Almost like they were hiding it. Two bites and I was out ! They messed up a couple orders. Then another Greek place opened up and I started going there because they were right across the street from home. Second, yes, it's the best Greek food in Dickson. It's the ONLY Greek food in Dickson. We tried to eat at Greek Style Gyro tonight, but they were closed an hour before their posted closing time. Oh well. We've eaten here once or twice in the past, and while it's not nearly as good as our favorite Mediterranean place we left behind in Nashville, it's ok when you're craving gyro in Dickson County. My boyfriend ordered the chicken when we visited before, and he was not impressed. But my gyro plate was good enough to return for. When we're able to visit again, he will not be trying the chicken again. Small parking lot, very crowded, apparently a real favorite of the locals. Lots of people got salads or various kinds. The place could do with a good cleaning. However, the prices are low. You eat out of styrofoam containers, etc. I got a hummus and gyro salad. The hummus was fairly good, and dusted with a nice, dark paprika. But the gyros meat was dry and terribly salty. ABSOLUTELY WORST Gyro Platter I've encountered in my 68 years. I've eaten Gyros from Virginia to California and Michigan to Florida. Even at 68 years old, my taste buds work very well. I just expect "quality" for my dollar. Greek Tzatziki (Yogurt Cucumber) sauce was water down so instead of having the consistency of yogurt (i.e., clings to spoon) it ran down like water in a fast flowing stream and gathered on bottom of styrofoam container. Flavor was equally watered down. Gyro meat was cool to slightly warm -- not hot! Typically, gyro meat is piled on a bed of rice. Got maybe a cup of rice on the side. Salad was watery and disappointing. Noted that they had to "dish out" my and another customer's meal (who ordered before me), but only had pita ready on steam table for one. Therefore, they had to microwave a pita bread. Instead of giving the first customer the pita off the steam table, they gave us both half the "older" pita and half the newly microwaved pita, thereby we both got half a fresh piece and half of a slightly stale piece. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing about this meal was up to acceptable (or conscionable) culinary standards. I will try to post this review with zero (0) stars. If it gets even one (1) star, it's because Yelp forced it. read more
