Please do not let the outside stop you from a truly fantastic dinner! They are under going a remodel. Some of the best Greek cuisine I've ever had! Highly recommend the calamari melt in your mouth! My mind was blown. Placed an order for pick up... walk into George's warm welcome. I haven't felt this at home since I moved here from New York. Felt like I knew George for years... After enjoying a very nice genuine conversation, we went home to enjoy the best Greek food I've had since living here. Unbelievable... really. His wife cooks the food and the family works there as well. So glad we met George and had such a pleasant experience. Coming in here it was interesting. We came here for a quick meal, and what we got was a little different as far as service. The main server and I believe the owner was very hands on with customers, which to me was a different experience. I felt as the decor didn't really match the customer service, because the server was very hands on. It reminded me of a pizza shop in NY or Italian type of family atmosphere. There's nothing wrong with that, but when I'm going in there to just eat and then get up and go, the server got involved and I guess if you're not used to it or if you're an introvert this place isn't probably where you want to go. Now, the food was great. I got a Gyro, and of course that's something default, but then again it was a lunch and it was a bit of a drive back. I also ordered a salad, and I could have gotten a salad with the Gyro but the server persuaded me to get both, a salad and some fries. In the end though, we were pretty much in and out and the food came quickly. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for greek food. read more

I have never been disappointed after eating here. The staff are warm and professional. The owner George is just as authentic as the lamb chops. I lived four years in Europe and ate at my favorite Greek restaurant called "Greektown"; no doubt when I saw the name here I jumped for joy. Greektown has really wonderful ambience and decor, and amazing food. We've been here a few times, always the best experience. The menu has classic staples (our favorite is the moussaka) and always features a new and latest chef creation. We absolutely love the staff, they are loads of fun, very entertaining and generous. Came here not knowing what to expect and knowing I just wanted a Gyro. Well when we walked trough the door, we were greeted by the waiter/cook who has a friendly and welcoming attitude. The set up of this restaurant was very home like feeling, quiet, clean, bathrooms were clean as well. The chicken George was amazing as too the desert (only desert on the menu) the "spanake" was alright, not a big fan but still good. I joined my family for dinner in the Greektown dining room last weekend at about 8pm, after hearing raves about the Greek food carry outs they have enjoyed for years. While the food was very good, even 5 , we will never eat inside the restaurant again. The dining room is shabby, dark, dirty and needs some major work. What was completely off putting and super uncomfortable was the owner and the service. If I could give negative stars, I would. It's not ok to yell at your customers, make gross jokes, make rude comments and somehow think you are charming. I have never seen anyone who is so self unaware - read the room and leave the jokes at home. The owner is the single reason why I will never go to Greektown again. Not sure how this place will stay in business with an owner like that. Diners beware! read more

This place is awesome. George and his sons run the place. He is so nice and accommodating when it comes to choices. Came for a friend's birthday who has been eating here for the last 3 years. We got the saganaki flambeau appetizer (always a fun time) as well as the calamari. I got the capama, a lamb stew over rice. My friend got the special at the time and my other friend got the dolmades. Everything tastes super authentic. Can't wait to go back to try more of the dishes. I wanted to write a review update in hopes it will get someone to order from here during this trying time. We ordered dinner take out for our wedding anniversary , as it has never disappointed. The food: The crab stuffed shrimp is going to be my new go to. So much crab! Loved this dish. Calamari - also delicious. Would also get again. The baklava cheesecake!! I've only had a bite so far because I'm so full but am anxiously awaiting being able to have more of that delicious dessert. Loved this place. Went a month ago. Looked sketchy from the outside due to construction on the building as well as cones on the street. Told my sister, "If we don't feel comfortable inside , we can walk out". To our surprise it was very retro with white linen tablecloths, very dim lights and candles on each table. A large screen was playing behind the full bar of Greek performers and dancers. The owner is 1st gen. Parents from Greece. Very jovial and recommended the calamari and a delicous red wine based on what I usually drink. The calamari was the best I've ever had! Also really enjoyed the lemon soup. Salad so-so. Wouldn't recommend it. Lacked flavor. Had the pastitso and moussaka. The son waited on us and made a half order of each as my sister and I shared everything. It was very good also. We were stuffed and couldn't finish. The dinner also came with veggie and potato. We both loved it so much that we sent our other sister and mon to try it last week. They also loved the calamari, dolmas, soup and the gyro sandwich. Again wasn't impressed with the salad. Came home with almost the whole gyro. Too much to eat. It's a lot of delicious food. Next time my plan is an order of calamari and glass of wine and I will be in heaven. read more

I believe it is a small-family business with the owner being the dad, the cook is the wife, and their 2 sons are the servers. We ordered the flaming cheese (don't know the Greek word), Calamari, and the Original Gyro. My partner also had a few beers. Contrary to other reviews, I ordered take out and got a hefty portion of everything. We had left overs for the next day. The soup is amazing and salad is generous... it is even packed in a large container vs. the embarrassingly small ones you see at other take out Greek spots. We will be coming back for sure!!
