**This place is cash only** Came here for brunch with my mother on a Saturday morning and we were seated within 15 minutes. Each portion was large. We ordered the creme brûlée French toast to share- it was AMAZING! The berries had a nice tart to balance out the sweetness. I ordered the short rib benedict and it melts in your mouth and was super savory. My mother ordered the steak and eggs. She's a very picky person but she loved it! The steak was not chewy or dry at all. We also ordered the oreo iced latte and the creme brulee hot latte. Both tasted sweet yet amazing. It was like a nice dessert. I have to take the place off my brunch bookmark. I came on a Friday and shocked by the lack of customers as other good brunch spots were hustling. Upon sitting we ordered coffee and iced raspberry tea. For $4 tea I wasn't expecting something out of a container. My coffee wasn't hot when poured and she took a few minutes before coming with cream. And still didn't have sugar. I asked for sugar or maple syrup sweetener and she brought me simple syrup. I asked if she had raw sugar or maple syrup again. I came for the shrimp and grits that I have been hyping for so long that I wore my partner down and he came despite being wary as he said this wasn't on his radar based on other friends. This used to be my go to for every brunch day with out of towners who wanted to feast! Well today we didn't make it past our drinks. Pretty affordable for the big portions. I enjoyed my visit to this cafe! I ate the tofu scramble. It was tasty & made me feel very healthy. My friends got the shrimp & grits: one person loved it, the other disliked it. My cousin got the french toast & enjoyed it. All of us had to pack the food to-go since the portions were huge. If you are ever in Philly you must try this place. I was so impressed we ended up eating breakfast there twice on our trip. The first day I got the chorizo Benedict and my oh my was it delicious. It was a chorizo Patty on top of Mexican cornbread with guacamole and scrambled eggs on top. It was freaking delicious I want some right now just writing about it. Then I had the pumpkin spice bom bom and again it was delicious. The perfect amount of espresso with a mixture of cream and pumpkin spice flavor. Since it was cold I got a salted caramel mocha latte and yes it was delicious too. The only thing I didn't like on our first visit was the manager. We asked him about the parking and he couldn't even give us a suggestion on safe place to park but the hostess assisted us. They serve big portions so it can be shared if you don't eat much. Very fast service and food came out quick. I had the Nutella latte which was okay, it was a little too much chocolate for me but I should've expected that since it is a Nutella mocha. For the entrees I got the salted Carmel French toast and a omelette with cheese hash roams. Everything looks picture perfect. The Carmel French toast had hard banana chips on top of it which I was not a fan of. It also had too much cream on it. I wish it was a bit lighter. The omelette and cheese balls were great though! Great flavor, but it would be better if there were lumps of crabmeat in there, and not just little pieces that get lost. It also would do you well to add shrimp. Kitchen Sink Skillet. Phenomenal. Hits all the taste buds and ideas of a good salty/savory meal. Potatoes are large and seasoned well. Peppers and onions too. Sausage gravy is great. Try it with a side of sausage. And if you're like me you may need an extra side of gravy. Shrimp and Grits: wouldn't order. There are only 5 shrimp. Servers make sure to tell you that. Why would you be proud of that? They're not big. Grits are good, and the Cajun sauce isn't what you think of as Cajun. It's tomato based....it's salsa. Literally. So, it's basically just a big bowl of grits, FIVE plain shrimp, and salsa. How about leave out the salsa, add Cajun seasoning, through in some peppers and onions, throw in more shrimp, and some cream based Cajun sauce. Such a cute place ! The cafe is perfectly located on the corner of a busy neighbor street. I came in on my own and the hostess sat me at a table right by the window :) The place is very cozy indeed. When she sat us she reminded us that the kitchen was closing soon. No worries, we order quickly. The food came out about 10 minutes later, but when it arrived, the fries were cold on the outside and my wife's dish was lukewarm. Before biting into it I tried to get the servers attention to ask for ketchup, not yet knowing the fries were cold on the outside, but that didn't happen. Delicious vegan breakfast! Came here at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon and sat at their counter. I ordered their Tofu Scramble with the signature potatoes. The tofu scramble was so flavorful! The place has some really nice staff and they were attentive during my first dining experience here. They refilled waters and answered questions regarding vegan options. This was around the Halloween time. I got the salmon lox benedict and my other half got the pecan pie french toast. OMG that pecan pie french toast was so good-we ended up switching dishes because it was too sweet for him but I loved it. The salmon lox was equally good, but it's fun to eat if you like the messiness of eggs Benedict. But the second time that I went around Thanksgiving, things were a bit different. After stalking the Green Eggs Cafe's Instagram page and sending a billion photos to my boyfriend, we finally got a chance to check it out. The parking wasn't terrible and there was absolutely no wait to be seated. We went on an off time around 2pm. This is cash only, but there's an ATM at the front that only charges a 99 cent fee. Once we sat down, the wait staff were very tentive to our needs. They didn't rush us and they didn't forget about us, the perfect balance. Seeing their famous fancy dishes on Instagram- my boyfriend and I split the Salted Carmel Banana Stuffed French Toast. It was so decadent that we couldn't finish. However, we also order our own meals in addition to the stack full of French toast. I'm a big avocado fan, so I got the avocado toast that came with the best french fries we've ever had. It had arugula and tomatoes and balsamic. It was absolutely to die for. My boyfriend, being a hungry he-man, got the Kitchen Sink. You hungry? Starving? Maybe even ready to demolish a small flock of cows with your appetite? I think I may have found your place to be. Green Eggs Cafe, riddled around Philadelphia with multiple locations, is a place that I don't think about too much. Probably because I blacked out of a food coma afterward. I've been here twice and have seen the gray blurs in a flashback to walking inside the restaurant. Being seated, ordering, I don't even remember. The menu items that I got were the Sink and the *insert here*, or at least something like that. Service was adequate but as usual, was extremely busy as this restaurant is almost always packed. I can tell you some bits and pieces of how the meal went down and how I felt afterward. These were massive items. Like, massive. I eat a decent amount, but these were portions that made me do one of those cartoon gulps as it was brought to my table. The sink, a mess of gravy, biscuits, peppers, sausage, potatoes,, and egg slams your stomach to the ground. The huge potatoes were my only complaint, as I spent most of my time trying to think about how I was gonna be able to leave the restaurant as I ate. In retrospect, potatoes seem a bit unnecessary to the amount of heaviness in this dish, and I would prefer smaller, cubical pieces that may be roasted or fried to make it easier to digest. If you manage to finish up that mess, you move onto the .... If you ever watched one of those old YouTube videos by Epic Meal Time (whatever happened to them?), this honestly felt like that. Steak and cheese sound like a wonderful combination, and it really is. But only for the first 10 bites. Afterward, you're in a world of pain of trying to finish such a large meal and one that doesn't exactly smoothly go down your digestive system. Their beautiful harmony made it delicious, but soon that harmony went sour after your stomach questions why you're doing this to it. Briefly, after almost blacking out outside the restaurant from how full I was, I had barely gotten out of the place to walk around and eventually return to a state of mind that was able to think. And all I could really think and will ever think of Green Eggs Cafe is: "Am I ready to eat all the food on the planet? Service here is super quick so I suggest you read up on the menu ahead of time. The portions are super generous as well so you won't go hungry. If you do only bring cards they have a ATM inside of their establishment that charges a fee to withdraw money. I hate to write a review while this frustrated, but I'll try to be fair-minded and keep it brief. My girlfriend and I had a very poor experience and will not be returning to this location. After a long wait to get our food (45 minutes from ordering) my avocado toast came out with a large side of stale, cold fries. We eventually asked for a replacement along with a second iced coffee both of which never came. After another 30+ minutes, after we were both finished eating, we managed to flag down the waitress, cancel both orders, and request the check. The iced coffee and *an additional order of fries* both appeared on the bill. They took the fries off. So it's clear: We spent ~2 hours at the restaurant and didn't receive the large side order to my meal (with the meal being toast - it accounts for a large portion of it). We were made to pay for it anyway. It was impossible to flag down the waitress or get a word in with her as she grabbed the bill and flew off to other duties. We tipped over 20% out of habit, but the experience with the waitstaff and kitchen really make me wish we hadn't. We will not be returning.
