Green Lantern pizza is the BEST!!! My boyfriend and I stop in here every time we're back in Michigan. We always order the Italian sub, pepperoni pizza and the chicken Sicilian pizza. The Italian sub is toasty, the meats are delicious, and the coleslaw that they top the sub with is unbelievable! It really makes the sandwich. I want the recipe, lol!! The pepperoni on the pizza "cups" when it's cooked, and you get these amazing, crunchy, spicy bites of deliciousness when you bite into a slice. It's a must have!! The chicken Sicilian pizza has a wonderful blend of toppings that work very well together. This place was absolutely delicious! I've been wanting to try it for awhile as I've heard a lot of people raving about this gem. We ordered the lantern bread and John's Pizza. The pizza was very flavorful and full of toppings. I wish they used a higher quality mushroom tho - these are for sure dumped out of a can and we ended up taking quite a few off bc they had a weird texture. Other than that I loved every bite so next time I'd just skip the mushrooms. We also tried the lantern bread which was cheesy and gooey. I wish it was cooked a bit longer for more of a crunch but still absolutely tasty. We tried it with both the ranch and marinara. Been coming here for years and have seen a steady decline in quality. My wife and I ordered a large round deep-dish pizza, which had a thin layer of cheese and toppings on top of about 1.25 inches of gooey pizza dough and the sauce was way too sweet. "Deep-dish" shouldn't mean adding 120% more dough as opposed to more cheese and toppings. We also ordered buffalo wings which had fewer wings than normal, and chicken tenders which were way overcooked and seemed to be sitting in the window for a few hours just waiting for us to order them. Worst experience we've had here. Berkely location used to be worse but now is the better of the two locations. May want to take the round deep-dish off the menu and stick with the Detroit style square, thin crust, and regular round. Jet's is rapidly becoming the better value and more consistent in quality--except for the pepperoni. GL may have expanded too rapidly. Gave two stars since take-out service person was very nice. read more

Great place. This place is always busy (I was there in a Sunday night and it was full) but they get you in and out. They also have a busy carry out window if you want to go home. Their sauce and crust is amazing but they are known for their fresh cut pepperoni which is fantastic. I can't wait to go to their new location in Berkley (coming 2019). Have been ordering this pizza for 50+ years. It seems to have changed, crust is very thick, and toppings don't come to the edges as it use to. They were always known as the pepporini king, but topping have been reduced based on years past. I asked the waitress about my observations, her comment was all new kitchen help, those that use to work in the kitchen for years are gone. Sad, this was our third time ordering in a row, it is not up to it's quality as in the past and not sure if we will try it again. We want the pizza like we use to get, is that possible? I'll start by saying the food was great. The kitchen staff was amazing, you could tell they were having a great time. They all had smiles. I dropped a tip in a jar for them. I debated on whether or not I was going to leave a review but I've come to this location and on multiple occurrences and each time it's the same lady causing the same ruckus. I believe her name is Ashley, maybe Amanda? but it's a very tense environment as she talks about fellow employees in an unwelcoming matter. It made the experience awkward and uncomfortable. One of my hands down favorite takeout pizza places around! The pizza is perfectly cooked with the most generous amount of cheese melted on top cooked to profrction (now who doesn't like cheese?)!!! I was introduced to this pizza by a local, and yasss the pizza definitely didn't disappoint. I was expecting this place to be like a takeout pizza place but oh no, once I walked into the restaurant, I felt like I just stepped into a sports bar. There was a designated section for carry out, and there I went. We got a classic pepperoni pizza, large sized (8 slices), and it was about $20, which wasn't bad. The pizza though was amazing. They used the quality pepperoni so they curled up into cups when baked and in each cup you'd find this delicious flavorful pepperoni grease, yum!!! And on the perimeter of each pepperoni cups you'd see this beautiful circular char, and the pepperoni was bomb! The pizza itself was pretty amazing: the dough definitely tasted freshly made and the cheese was thick, creamy but had a nice subtle nice flavor. Overall it was pretty spectacular! read more

This is hands down, one of my favorite pies, period. This is a place, the place, I think of when attempting to explain to friends and colleagues out here in the southwest, what great pie truly Is. Now, for those of you in Detroit who are reading this, thinking ... "OMG, this guys' nuts, there's so many other great Pizza Joints in this town and he likes this place"??? RELAX! I know there are a ton of great pie houses in De-Twa...a SHIT TON! You see, that's the problem, we have so so many great options...we've truly got no real perspective on how shitty other cities have it. I've traveled, trust me...I have traveled throughout most of this country and I have yet to find a city that comes even close to offering up the amazing selection of Pie like Detroit, period. Now, back to the Lantern... This is just great pie, period...and for many reasons. There are other pies that I love equally in this town, but when i'm back visiting, and i'm staying 1.4 miles away...um...it's a no brainer. I love both their round, hand tossed and square pie...in fact, if you haven't tried a Detroit-style square pie...you must. It's not a loaf of bread with chees on, like that crap 4 hours to our west, it's slightly thinner deep-dish pie with a buttery crust - home for a delicious burnt cheese encrusting the entire edge of the pie. The sauce is typically a little sweeter too... I personally know people in Detroit who have ended friendships over the whole "best Pie" argument. Childish? Absolutely. I've been getting green lantern pizza all my life at 12 mile and John R and I'm 68! It;s the best around bar none. I love to go in and have a couple of there house ales while waiting for my carryout, even thought it pumps up my bill quite abit. I have converted my husband also, we used to get pizza from several different places, but the quality has gone down over the years. I use to work as a ward manager next store at Madison Veterinary back in the day and Green Lantern was a go-to for breaks. Despite the pizza being the star (and believe me it's AMAZING pizza), you'll be surprised the italian sub holds up well and paired with a small salad made for a great lunch. Otherwise it's your classic dive-ish pizza bar complete with cozy booths. The prices are fair and beer is cold, so if in the mood for pizza then you can't go wrong. read more

This place has a great location right off 12 mile road & John R so easy access. LUV the staff & people here. Everyone was super pleasant & friendly which is always a huge plus! Picked up a med Ham, Mushroom & black olive pizza that I am certain will be fabulous. Lots of traffic here for carry out pizza so it must be great! Decor is typical of a all American bar: heavy dark wood & brass. They had great classic & alternative rock music piped throughout the place. And lots of flat screen tv's showing a variety of different sports. Large, varied selection of beers which is always great! And they have drink & food specials throughout the week! Not bad, but a bit disappointing for all the raves I've read over the years. The pizza my son & I shared seemed to be a bit undercooked. He works up the road in Madison Heights and comes here fairly regularly with co-workers and other friends. Nice, old-time ambiance, and certainly does a bang-up business. The beer was nice and cold, and the waitress was very friendly and accomodating. I might give it another shot, but wouldn't necessarily rush back unless I was in the area. read more

Tonight was my first time eating at Green Lantern. I have been living in the Royal Oak area since the mid-'90s. People have. Raved about this place never went. I told me the other day said he wanted to try it, and I was like I am down. We pull up, and the parking lot is packed we finally find and spot and go in. This place is packed, and the host told us it was about a 20 to 25-minute wait. So while we were waiting, a couple of spots opened up at the bar, so we saddled up to the bar and met the fantastic Ashley. I ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, ground beef, and tomato. My buddy ordered a medium round pizza with pepperoni and mushroom. The food came. I have to admit I was a little worried that it been so hyped up I was concerned about being disappointed. This is my go-to place for delivery whenever I'm in town. I came across Green Lantern Pizzeria during one of my work visits to the area. I was craving pizza and Green Lantern seemed to get decent enough reviews and the pictures of the food looked delicious. When I first ordered it came in under 30 minutes and the delivery time has not disappointed ever since. Anytime I am about about to bite off my hand from hunger I always get the call that the pizza is downstairs. It reminds me of my neighborhood pizza joint with how quickly the food comes. The pizza is decent, I wouldn't eat here if I was back home in Chicago but it is pretty good when you're living out of a hotel. I normally do a two topping four square pizza and normally have half the pizza left over. I was told it was cheaper to order directly from the restuarant opposed to Grubhub when I first ordered but it seems to be a similar price. read more

Green Lantern has a late 80's upscale pizza place vibe that hasn't changed with the times, but as an 80's guy, I loved the every bit of the atmosphere! I also loved the hand-cut, spicy pepperoni, which contrasted well with the sweet pasty sauce and gooey cheese...along with enough grease to fry eggs! They also had an Alaskan Amber on draft--I'd never had it, nor heard of it, but I want more of it! As a bonus, they served it in my favorite, tall, skinny, perfectly chilled 20oz mugs (a'la Texas Roadhouse 20oz Drafts...all you Rednecks know what I'm talking bout!!!). The service was good, the crowd was friendly, the Pistons game was on, and I left in an euphoric mood, so I guess you could say this was a memorable dining experience. Love the pizza here! We lived in Madison Heights many years ago and used to order their pizza fairly often. We stopped back today and the pizza did not disappoint. It was just as good as we remembered. We shared a garden salad, chicken Siciliano pizza and a Tommy's Super Special pizza. The crust is delicious and fresh. My daughter loved the tomato sauce and all of the vegetables and meats were excellent. Our server was swamped as they were short-staffed but she was friendly and helpful. One of the few comforts during COVID has been knowing I can still go pick up a nice hot pie from Green Lantern. Seriously, as often as possible. The quality of these pizzas has been and always will be on point. They're cheesy, and the sauce ratio is perfect. The gooey aspect is perfectly balanced by the crispy crust and those darn addicting crispy edged pepperoni cups. The pizza always finds its way to me hot, and they're still quick as ever. I've been to this Green Lantern location a few times and it's a hit or miss with the food. This last time I told the waitress who btw is not friendly until it's time to pay the check, please ask them for a little extra sauce and baked a little longer. Please don't burn it. Well the pizza came and some of the top was burnt as was our friends pizza. She put double sauce in the computer so there was too much sauce on it. How hard was it to go and tell the person making the pizza just add a little extra, bake a little longer and don't burn it? I never have this problem at the 15 and Utica one. I have always ranked Green Lantern pizza #1 for round pizza. Recently I ordered a large pepperoni pizza on 8/26/22 and it was absolutely the worst pizza I ever received from them. 3 pieces of pepperoni on each slice??? 1.5 inches of crust in some places. It was slightly burned and somewhat hard to chew. Very dry and lacking pizza sauce. Two thumbs down for this pizza. Looks like I'll spend my money elsewhere now.
