It's sickening how much this place does a Jekyll & Hyde routine over the course of a year. I used to go there because I felt like it had one of the best bars in touristy Canal Park. That was during the "off season". Went back during the summer and you would swear I had just rolled in fresh feces. Tourist are DEFINITELY the preferred choice and they get SELECTIVE amnesia about all the damn $$$ and tips you've left and act like you're scum. Hypocrisy at it's ugliest. Gah. read more

I had a late dinner at the Green Mill while on a weekend trip to Duluth. Our server was really great. My cosmo was chock full of booze (I think the vodka was locally distilled too), the salad I shared with a friend was absolutely delicious, and three out of four of their wing sauces were gluten free! I was a happy camper. The Jim Beam sauce was my favorite. I could have eaten a platter of those wings. I've been thinking of them ever since. The place was empty, on a Saturday night, which I thought was strange, but Duluth isn't exactly party central, so maybe everyone had gone to bed already. It was really dim in there, and it felt...old. And generic. It reminded me of going to family friendly chain restaurants as a kid, in the 80s and early 90s. But that didn't really bother me. It was clean, so who cares? I'd certainly go again. read more

My trip to Duluth ended on a delicious note. My group of three walked in and were greeted my the hostess and promptly seated. Although we sat in the back of the restaurant, our waitress was wonderful. Our food came out quickly, she refilled our beverages, and even brought me honey for my tea. I understand that Green Mill is a chain restaurant but the food was still good. After a long day exploring Duluth, I decided on the Desert Fire Pasta. It was delicious! The shrimp were succulent and not over cooked. There was a nice kick of spiciness. The sauce wasn't overly heavy because of the Parmesan cheese. Sadly I didn't order any pizza despite it being a specialty at Green Mill. read more

I have been to Green Mill up in Duluth twice now and both times have come away feeling full and happy. Green Mill has a beautiful set up being located downtown in Canal, the bar is a great spot to sit and enjoy a few beers while eating some buffalo wings or their famous pizza. Green Mill is a little bit pricey for a college town but seems to fit perfectly in the tourist part of town. All in all Green Mill is a good place to stop into once or twice a month! read more

I look forward to Green Mill when I head to Minnesota and this was the worst one Ive ever been to. Prom was going on and instead of taking care of other tables, refills were ignored and food took forever and came out cold. Made the mistake of asking for it to be replaced, no apology and it took another 15 minutes to get it. read more

Having just arrived in Duluth for the first time,I chose to pick up a pizza to bring back to my hotel, which was right across the street. Though the main dining room was empty, the bar area was warm and cozy on a chilly, rainy night. The bartender was friendly and refilled my diet coke twice while I waited for my large Extreme Supreme pie. He also made sure I had little packets of garlic and grated cheese to accompany the to go order. These little service touches mean a lot. The pie itself was very good, though maybe not quite up to the lofty standards of a NYC pizza snob. Prices were fair. I'd return if ever in Duluth again. read more

Green Mill is one of my 'go to' places when I stay in Duluth. Why? Good cold tall beers in my favorite flavors, pretty darn good deep dish pizza, and outstanding cheap apps during both early and late night happy hours. I'm generally traveling alone when on business so I always belly up to the bar and I always get excellent service. If you're looking for a singular dining experience then go to another town. read more

Chicken stir fry salad is good, but the cilantro lime salad was unimpressive. It was mostly lettuce and a few tiny shrimp. 80s music.

What the heck happened to this place? We sat at the bar...worst service ever. We had to remind him about everything. All our food came out cold, after waiting close to an hour. There was like four people in the bar, so it wasn't like they were busy. I used to love this restaurant, but it's terrible now. Bad service and dirty. I'll never go back. read more

Just finished dinner after a day at the Bluesfest. The food was good but....they had none of the three soups on the menu!? That could have been really irritating but, our server Libby saved the day with just her personality. She is a fantastic server! She made it a really enjoyable evening. We'll be back mainly because of Libby's efforts. The 4 star rating would be - 3 stars for the food and 5+ stars for Libby. read more

As a fellow local service industry worker, I was extremely disappointed tonight. She promptly asked us our drink order and checked promptly when we were ready to order. Out of the 7 of us. 5 of us ordered and entree. 1 ordering an app for food. 3 of us ordered apps with our food. 3 correct plates came out. No apps. And 1 incorrect pizza. I asked for my app and the others. They were brought out to us. Still I waited for my plate of food. The server came by to ask if everything was tasting alright and if she could get us anything else... "Umm can I have some food please" I really do understand places being busy but this was ridiculous and it made me very disappointed in my fellow local restaurant. I love Duluth. I am born and raised. I usually hear very good things about Green Mill but tonight was something else. The food was delicious but I feel the servers need some pointers. read more

This is a nice hidden gem. Ate here after Grandma's Marathon and crushed some pizza. I make a lot of my own pizza at home from scratch and hold it in a high regard. I was really impressed with their crust and they also had a gluten free option for my wife! read more

I'm honestly kinda shocked this Green Mill is still in business. Normally I'm a huge fan of Green Mill too, but this one in particular falls far below their average standard of quality. Our waitress filled my Mellow Yellow with water and took one of my friend's drink while she was still drinking it. When she politely asked for a new one, the glass she received it in was disturbingly filthy to the point where she almost puked when she noticed. Seriously, do yourself a favor and just go across the street to Old Chicago. It's in the same area and the quality is far superior. read more

Been in Duluth for 15 years now. We have gone here often, but feel place is in decline. Service is mixed. Food quality is dropping. Many smiley young people working but they lack knowledge in how to solve problems or deal with customers. They make frequent mistakes on orders and are surprised if customer upset. Seems to be no training or awareness that many other establishments have in place around customer service or could be just poor management. Whatever the cause is, each time we go, seems both food quality and customer service dropped another notch. We have eaten wings many times here though out the years, yesterday they were tough, dried out, then covered with sauce. Years ago, used to be best, very moist high quality chicken, not so any more in our experience. With staff making mistakes on every order last 3 trips and being nonchalant about fixing that with customer, disappointing. Not even a simple "sorry" Clueless staff. The parking situation is terrible, but you go anyway, as that is norm for canal park. Now with destination not worth parking hassle, moving on. We used up some Greenmill gift cards given to us yesterday. We wont be back. We had great experience at Pick Wick with wings there. Forgot about Pickwick. This longtime Greenmill customer is moving on. read more

we've been here twice for happy hour when up here in duluth. the bar area is always packed but we always manage to find a table which is great. because it's busy, service can be slow. the last time we were there, we ordered onion rings, the coconut chicken fingers and the three cheese & chipotle chicken nachos. my wife ordered a strawberry margarita. she wasn't too impressed with the drink but drank it anyways. why let it go to waste. the nachos was different. definitely not your typical nachos but it was very good. will get that the next time around. but how great to see everyone in the bar area just happily enjoying themselves and cheering on the wilds. read more

This is probably one of my favorite places to get pizza, but nothing else. The pastas ended up giving me and my friend food poisoning.

Had chicken with a lobster sauce. Was VERY tasty. And the bruschetta was probably the best I'd ever had.

The service was bad and we've had better at the school cafeteria. Green Mill has really slipped in quality and service!

Very friendly server but the food was very bad. Rubbery bbq, potatoes not cooked completely, undercooked hamburger, Kraft macaroni out of a box, etc. Family of 4 and not a single finished plate. read more

This is my second try with Green Mill. The first was in Bemidji which resulted in a sincere apology and a gift card to try them again. So since I was going to be in Duluth this past Tue I thought why not get some Take and Bake pizzas since the reviews were ok. Called spoke to Jackie since I couldn't pay online with a gift card, she took my order by phone. I ordered one lg, thin with easy sauce, extra cheese, Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sauteed portobella mushrooms. What I received on this pizza was no Canadian bacon, lots of sauce, cremated mushrooms. We scrapped the sauce off as much as we could; very disappointing. The other pizza was lg thin with easy sauce, extra cheese, onion, sausage, sauteed portobella mushrooms. We again scrapped the sauce off just way, way to much your mouth was stinging...more like a thick paste. Again cremated mushrooms. Really $38 for two pizzas. Very, very disappointing with the chain.
