I can't wait to go back to Green Olive~ this place is officially one of my all-time favorites now. Everything we tried tasted so fresh, flavorful and taste so good together. The meats were juicy and perfectly seasoned, the veggies tasted crisp and fresh, and all the sauces just brought everything together so well. This is the kind of food that make you feel comforting but still feels clean. Honestly, it's one of those authentic Mediterranean spots that just does everything right. If you haven't been yet, you definitely need to check them out~ you'll get it after the first bite

Came here after being recommended for their Mediterranean food, and overall it was a solid experience. The filet mignon wrap was the star of the meal--super flavorful and cooked just right. Definitely something I'd come back for. I also tried the chicken kebab, which was a bit on the dry side, and the baklava didn't really hit for me--it tasted pretty dry and not as fresh as I'd hoped. The place was very busy when I went, so that might have played a role in the food quality, especially the chicken. Even with that, I'd still give them another shot and would recommend checking them out--just stick with the filet mignon wrap.

Great neighborhood restaurant serving up delicious, healthy and quick Mediterranean food. Servings are pretty large so I ended up taking half my lunch home because it was a lot. Good and efficient customer service. Wish it was closer to my home because I would frequent this place.

Green Olive is a fast casual restaurant serving their authentic Mediterranean food located in Downey. They use only the best quality meat and fresh vegetables and ingredients to make their dishes. And for those curious minds, they do cook in extra virgin olive oil. Their portions are very generous for the price you pay. I ended up ordering the shrimp kabobs platter, home style spicy potatoes, and baklava for dessert. Their potatoes have a crunchy outer texture yet somehow is still soft in the center. I loved that texture! Their platter came with yogurt dip, hummus, and spicy green sauce. Within the first bite, you can tell the vegetables were fresh and the spicy green sauce added a nice layer of depth to the crunch. The shrimp was grilled to perfection and I just kept wanting to come back to it. The hummus and yogurt sauce were also made fresh in house. Finally the baklava came out afterwards and it was amazing! It had the most perfect crunch and flakiness. The center brought the entire experience together with its sweetness and addition layer of crunchiness from the pistachio and walnuts. Come on over! Jacky was super vigilant on following up and provided top notch service!!! I love the vibe and how it brings all people of color here and a togetherness. There are mor seatings outside!!!

Ok Downey! My tastebuds are very satisfied after tasting another one of your delicious gems! I'm not big on Mediterranean but I've definitely changed my mind now. I started with the Chicken Kabob Plate that came with juicy pieces of breast that were bathed in spicy lemon garlic sauce, so so tender and delicious. Next was the Filet Mignon and the charred Shrimp. Mmm mmm! That marinade made this dish bang! It was accompanied by the Tabouli salad that was really refreshing and that olive oil lemon juice made me smile with a happy squint, LoL. To end the delicious experience was a piece of their Baklava. Oh yeah! Pistachios and Walnuts in a dessert? Oh yeah it's definitely my jam! So lip smacking tasty. The service was amazing and attentive. Indoor seating available but if you like dining alfresco there's a nice eye pleasing patio for that. And that's my take on it, Peace, I'm out!

Best gyro sandwich I've had. Lots of meat, with tons of flavor. The sauce and the onions mix perfectly with the sandwich. The potatoes on the side light in flavor and complement the meal very well. Place is clean and definitely delicious. I'm definitely coming back to try their other food

Where do I start? The amazing customer service? The delicious food? The huge portions? The best Baklava I've ever had? I came here with some of my best girlfriends and immediately we were greeted by the warm staff. (we chose to eat in their outdoor seating area) The manager Yovanni was extremely hands on. I love when I go to restaurants and the managers are involved. We had Evelin take care of us. She was absolutely amazing. The owner of the green olive even owns a couple other successful restaurants. So you know this place is going to be good We came at an odd hour and it wasn't too crowded. So we got to talk to Evelin. There's only been a few times where I was completely blown away by the customer service, and this was one of them. They treat you like family. We ordered our food and the manager came out and suggested we pull another table up to ours to make more room. And then we saw why lol. There was so much food coming out. Our server, Evelin and manager Yovanni just kept coming in and out of the kitchen with a never ending supply of food (they even brought out tons of sauces and fresh warm pita for us) For drinks they have soft drinks, bottled water, coffee, a selection of beer and wine. We did get our hands on some individual little bottles of bubbly to toast since it was a celebration I ordered the vegetarian plate which came with hummus, falafel and a small salad. Pita Chips with Tzatziki also came out. I was in heaven. I can live off of pita chips with FRESH Tzatziki and hummus Kibbi Stuffed Meat Balls, which I've never had before. But now I'm a fan. Home Style Spicy Potatoes. These had a perfect little kick to it! These thin spicy potatoes hit the spot. It was the perfect balance and went well with all the fresh salad and fresh dips / sauce The big Greek salad tasted just as good as it looked. The Green Olive Platter came with a Beef Kabob, Beef Kafta, Chicken Kabob, 2 Falafels, 2 dolmas, rice, hummus & salad This platter seems to be one of their most popular dishes. I can't say this enough, the food is extremely fresh and you can taste all the delicious spices. Nothing was overpowering, nothing was smothered in salt. This was just good, fresh food with great ingredients. Chefs kiss (At this point my head was spinning with all this food) I know I'm forgetting other items that our table ordered (we all tried a bite or two of each others dishes) I think it's safe to say, we all went home with to go boxes for later. They brought out a few different desserts. Including a birthday tiramisu (with a birthday candle) And the best baklava I've ever had in my life (No, seriously. It was the best I've ever had) This place had such a warm atmosphere. It was literally like eating at a family get together Thank you, Green Olive for taking care of this party of 5 and making us feel like we were the only ones there. Whatever you decide to choose at Green Olive, you cannot go wrong. Everything tastes absolutely delicious. The place is usually packed, and there is reason why, the food is great and the service is exceptional. We were greeted by Yovanni, the manager, who was very friendly and helpful. We had the Chicken kebab with shrimp kebab with hummus and rice pilaf. The chicken was juicy and the shrimp was perfectly seasoned. Filet mignon & kafta combo platter was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Spicy potatoes is a must order. The Hummus was creamy and buttery. You have to order the Traditional Mediterranean Salad and Greek Salad. So fresh and the dressing bursting with flavor. I highly recommend Green Olive if you're in the Downey area.

Four beautiful ladies (Te-See, Ella, Lauren, & Lynn) and I met here for a celebratory lunch. The weather was perfect for sitting outside in the cozy patio. We toasted to friendship with a glass of bubbly and then proceeded to enjoy a delicious feast. Green Olive was founded by Downey resident Sam Sarofeem - an Egyptian migrant. He also owns The Olive Restobar & One 12 Café. Everything here is made to order from scratch using quality ingredients, so what you receive is fresh. The service here is also exceptional! Manager Yovanni was fantastic! He came out to check on us several times. Our server (also assistant manager), Evelin Sanchez, was the best! She had such a warm, friendly personality. We all loved her! In true foodie fashion we shared some appetizers: Fresh Pita Chips with Tzatziki (so good), Home Style Spicy Potatoes: Thinly sliced crispy potatoes tossed in a mixture of cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, & lemon juice. (Insanely good.) Kibbi (Stuffed Meat Balls), everyone said these were delish! Entrées consisted of 3 orders of The Green Olive Platter (1 Beef Kabob, 1 Beef Kafta Kabob, 1 Chicken Kabob, 2 crispy Falafels, 2 Dolmans, side of rice, Hummus, & salad). A Falafel Platter (5 Falafels, picked vegetables, olives, tomatoes, Hummus, & Tahini sauce), and my Greek Salad, which was loaded with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, green olives, pepperoncini, & Feta cheese. Evelin also brought us sides of garlic paste, a spicy green sauce, & fresh, warm pita. The servings were generous and the prices are reasonable. Despite being stuffed, we couldn't resist the house made desserts: Baklava (Amazing!), Kunafa (Yum!), & Crème Brûlée (so good!). Yovanni, Evelin, and the other staff were sweet and surprised the birthday girl with Tiramisu and a Happy Birthday song. The food here is so incredibly delicious and the service is outstanding! 100% some of the best--if not THE best--Mediterranean food we have ever had. My husband and I both agree, this has been one of the best places we have had Mediterranean food, ever. We both ordered our own Green Olive plate. I'm not going to lie, at first I was like, dang, that's expensive. When they brought out our food, it all made sense! It offers one beef kabob, one chicken kabob, one kafta kabob, 2 crispy falafel patties and 2 dolma (stuffed grape leaves), a side salad, a huuuge serving of yellow rice, hummus, and pitas bread + sauces. It's a TON of food! I for sure had left overs for breakfast and lunch the next day. When we arrived to order in person, we noticed an article printed and posted on the glass near the register as an award winning dish. It was the Green Olive plate. It looked so delicious, we both had to order it. They also have so many good looking desserts in the refrigerator case out front. So smart! They definitely don't mess around in the restaurant about their A/C and crank it so it stays nice and cool indoors. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor which is nice. We enjoyed sitting indoor where you can see staff grilling all the meat--so you KNOW it's fresh! The TV with music videos playing is a super nice touch too! They bring your order to you piping hot! The service is friendly and very quick. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes for our food. Some constructive notes for management: the online menu can definitely be more user/visual friendly to SEE the food better. It also might be a great idea to feature your award winning articles on the website too! For sure flex that win!!! :)

After indulging in some exceptional Greek donuts next door (seriously, worth the hype), I noticed this Mediterranean spot was absolutely buzzing. As someone who's learned to trust a good crowd curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to give it a shot. Easily one of the better decisions I've made this week. The star of the show and my highlight Forsure was the filet mignon which was outstanding. Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. I also tried the chicken kebab plate, which seems to be a house favorite. Personally, I found it a touch dry for my taste, but still flavorful and well-seasoned. Be warned: this place does get busy. Went for lunch today and had a very nice experience. The food was very good for the most part. We got a lamb kabob platter, a chicken kabob platter a chicken wrap, kibbi, a spinach and cheese pie and a salmon platter. The lamb platter was fantastic with big, juicy pieces of freshly cooked lamb. All of the platters come with rice, which was nicely seasoned, hummus, and a green salad. I was told that the hummus is creamy and delicious. I also got baba ghanoush which was flavorless. The spinach and cheese pie was super tasty. I should've gotten a piece to take home. The chicken wrap and chicken platters were good and had lots of chicken. The chicken was well cooked and not dry. The dishes also come with two soft pieces of pita bread for dipping and such. The kibbi is made from ground filet mignon. I liked it and it went nice with the tzatziki that comes with it. I hadn't tried kibbi before and I would definitely get it again. The service was spotty. We weren't greeted when we came in and I was ignored when I asked if we seat ourselves. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. Everything is served in to go packaging and the only trashcan is outside. The ladies at the cash register were very nice, shout out to Evelyn. The ambience is a small restaurant that is quite busy with both takeout and dine in customers. The only downside was that it was freezing in there. read more

Got takeout from here so I cannot speak to the service but wow the food was incredible! I got the salmon wrap which had delicious sauce, perfectly cooked salmon, & fresh veggies. Also got the spicy potatoes which were tasty. The garlic sauce and the green sauce were nice to dip the wrap into. Would recommend to anyone! The ambiance from the pictures look nice read more

My craving for Mediterranean brought me to my girlfriend's stomping grounds in Downey to her personal fave: Green Olive. On New Year's Day, one would think local eateries would be pretty desolate but I was wrong. A line of hungry patrons was a good sign that the food would be good and it was delicious! I got the Chicken and Filet Mignon combo plate and both proteins were marinated and cooked to perfection. Was highly impressed and highly satisfied. Thank you Green Olive! read more

I've actually gotten food from this place for work several times, but it's my first time going to the restaurant. We've always order delivery/takeout, because it's so close. I didn't realize how busy this place gets. This place was super packed and seems to a local's favorite. The inside is not too big. There's few small tables inside and couple tables outside. I got the filet mignon beef kabobs platter, hummus, tabbouli salad, and baklava. My favorite is the filet mignon beef kabobs, because the meat is so tender. It's lightly seasoned just the way I like. They really do a great job grilling the kabobs. The hummus was also super delicious. Some hummus can be kind of gritty, but their hummus is smooth and creamy. The tabbouli salad is a little bit on the sharp side. The baklava is a must. It's so flakey and crispy, and I love pistachios. It's definitely on the sweeter side, but I ain't complaining. The price is pretty comparable to other places. Parking is easy. Glad I was able to check this place out in person. read more

The process to order was easy.. it's such a tight space for a restaurant.. it was really busy and crowded and hot. But the heat comes from them cooking their stuff fresh so I don't mind. Yesterday, my wife and I went out for dinner and Yovani, the manager, took care of us. His hospitality was truly amazing and went far beyond what we expected. We lost our son two months ago, and since that day,smiling has been very difficult for me. Yovani showed genuine kindness, compassion, and warmth that made us feel truly care for. This place was pretty busy when I came in but I understand why because their food was absolutely delicious. Shout out to Yovani the manager for taking care of me and my boyfriend with the food. My favorite was the filet mignon and the baklava. The salmon wrap was pretty good too. I also appreciate that they showed funny pet videos at their restaurant. This is probably our favorite mediterranean restaurant. We drive about 30 minutes to get dinner just because the quality of their food is amazing. My boyfriend gets the whole chicken ( take 20-30 mins) so I would advise to call ahead. I get the gyro plate or wrap depends on my mood but it never lets me down. Restaurant is a quick service so you order first and then find a seat but we usually de take out. Only complaint we have is that the customer service sucks, to the point where we contemplated on going back. The cashiers act like they don't want to be there ( so much attitude ) which is a bummer because the food is a 10/10. read more

I ordered one of the Family Platters that states it comes with salad, Hummus,rice, and 4 WHOLE CHICKENS. The problem I am having is all of the chickens were NOT WHOLE... the breast meat was removed and so was the thigh meat... they only left a small amount of meat on the breast bone the chicken wings were intact and a little of the leg meat. To me it looks like they take off the meat for the Kabobs and leave the the rest to sell as a "whole chicken" it's not unless the chicken is on Ozempic! Don't advertise it as a 4 whole chickens when it's not. Everything was tasty but there was hardly any meat on the chicken very disappointing. I didn't take a picture wish I did so I could post it. I won't be ordering a Family platter here again. I stand by my review. My only regret was not taking a photo of the chicken. It was literally breast bone no meat on the breast. read more

So i guess it's time to give this wonderful restaurant a review. It is literally my favorite restaurant in downey. My personal favorites are the whole chicken platter, lamb chops and the gyro meat sandwich. The green sauce tops them off perfectly! Not only is the food 5 stars...the staff have become friends and every time I walk in there I feel so welcomed and at home. Best food if you have a concussion. Dealing with this has been a horrible experience but eating here. I feel like I get all essential vitamins from the chicken and krafta. I honestly can say this place has some of the best falafel's I've ever had and the most tender bbq. It gets pretty busy during weekends but wait time was still pretty fast. If I could go lower I would. You really can only show up in person here. DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT. They do not have a second line dedicated to that. They're good at telling you what time it'll be ready but here's the thing. You now have to wait an extra amount of time. Me being 25 minutes on top of my 25 minutes just to get my food. I love sitting in the outdoor covered area to enjoy the lovely LA sunshine. The platters come with two skewers, rice, hummus, and salad. My go to protein here is the chicken. I had such a wonderful experience at The Green Olive in Downey, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, busy, and clean, making it the perfect spot for anything from a casual lunch to a special night out! What really made this visit stand out, though, was the service. Jackie and Efrain were both incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind throughout the entire experience. They made sure everything was perfect and our food came out looking amazing and so yummy! They even checked in on us to get us refills on our alcoholic drinks! We love that! A huge shoutout to the manager, Yovanni, who truly exceeded my expectations! He was not only kind and accommodating but also took the time to guide us through the menu and recommend dishes! Let me tell you, every single suggestion was spot on!You can tell he really cares about the guest experience and takes pride in what the restaurant offers. SHARP KABOB STICK IN MEAT. CHOKED CAUTION During my first visit, I experienced a dangerous and unacceptable situation that could have resulted in a medical emergency. I ordered a filet mignon plate specifically without a kabob stick. However, while eating, I bit into the meat and felt a sharp object lodge in my throat as I was about to swallow. Fortunately, I was able to remove it in time--it turned out to be a sharp piece of a kabob stick. This posed a serious choking and injury hazard, especially given that my order was explicitly requested without it. I immediately reported the incident to the cashier, who responded with a lack of concern, stating that "it happens sometimes." This response was alarming and completely dismissive of the severity of the situation. When my husband and I escalated the issue to the manager, the matter was still handled unprofessionally. There was no sincere apology, no acknowledgment of the risk involved, and no effort made to resolve the situation, including not offering a refund. This experience reflects a serious lapse in food safety, attention to customer requests, and overall customer care. Situations like this should be treated with urgency, accountability, and professionalism--not indifference. read more

It was time to have dinner and I turned to Yelp! for a nearby suggestion. The Original Green Olive was one of the best recommendations I have found in my many years of using Yelp! This is an unpretentious little, primarily take-out place with a table for six inside and a few tables for 12-16 more, but here you will find some of the BEST and MOST DELICIOUS food if you're in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine. I have never had such flavorful kabobs in my 28 years of life. I chose chicken kabob the house favorite. Chicken was grilled to perfection, tender, juicy and succulent. The manager Giovannie took time to come out from the counter and chat with us about our meal. He is very very NICE, SWEET and very POLITE person. He answered the one hundred and one questions that we had about the food. If I could post a bonus points recommendation, believe me, this is one of a select handful of places I would do so. read more

First off this is the worst place to go eat. The food looks and taste like horse sh#. Everything at fhe Green Olive in Downey is cheap immatation food. Any good reviews about this place are fake reviews that were writen by the biggest LIAR in the world Sam Sorofeem who claims to be the owner but is not. He doesn't own a damn thing and never will cause he will charge you more for then what u actually ordered when your not looking. Don't be fooled by his ugly fake smile with the big gap in between his teeth and hand shake. Everything Sam Sorofeem says is a lie and he will screw u over at any given moment. In his language he would be called a (kaddaab) liar. If I could give this place a real rating i would give it a negative 10 stars because Sam Sorofeem works there and sells drugs to kids out of Golden Tabacco on Downey which he claims his owns too. read more

He was very flexible, quick to find a solution, and made sure I left completely satisfied. That level of responsiveness really made a difference. I've been coming to The Green Olive for years, and it truly is one of the best restaurants in Downey! The food is always fresh, healthy, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, and you can tell they take pride in every detail. The manager Yovane goes out if his way to make you feel welcome. What really sets The Green Olive apart, though, is the incredible customer service. The staff and management are outstanding -- they always greet me by name and make me feel like part of the family every time I walk in. I ordered their Chicken shawarma side, Salmon plate. The chicken shawarma was very flavorful, a little dry but still good. The salmon was probably the best fish I've had in downtown LA so far, which pleasantly surprised me. That salmon was phenomenal, very tender and flavorful. The garlic sauce was my favorite dip overall and really complimented the meats/pita bread. Either way the whole dinner was excellent and I enjoyed my meal. I'd definitely come back here again to try their other menu items. It's a solid spot for Mediterranean food and I came out super satisfied. How have I not tried green olive's sooner? The food was fantastic. What really stood out to me was how their plates came with hummus, rice and house salad included. Unlike other Mediterranean restaurants. It made for a well-rounded and flavorful experience. There are so many different options to choose from on their menu that I can't wait to go back and try more. You can find parking right in front or on the side streets. You also have the option to order online or through grub hub or yelp app for more convenience. The shop has a very friendly family vibe, it's very clean. Last night I went to it was pretty packed. This restaurant was super busy. I've never seen so many customers in the restaurant. I saw all the employees running side to side making the orders the fastest they could. One of the customers behind me was very rude and having a really bad attitude because the waiting time was like 45 minutes . I told her if she was really hungry go to McDonald's and stop being rude with the employees because I know how difficult is to deal with so many customers and orders during a rush hour. Some people need to be more kind and nice to all these employees. I think this restaurant needs to move to a bigger location because I saw the space is very small for so many customers and so many employees. The food is always good. Fresh and tasty! read more

The Green Olive is arguably the best spot for Mediterranean food in the Downey area. The prices are reasonable, especially for their kabob plates, but the wraps are the real standout. They're huge, easily shareable between two people, and incredibly satisfying. The baklava was a pleasant surprise--sweet but not overly so, making for a perfect dessert. Parking is plentiful, though be prepared for a crowd because this place is popular. If you're feeding a group, the family meal is an excellent deal. We ordered it last time and it comfortably fed six people, with leftovers to spare for the next day. Last night I came to have dinner with my fiance. This place is Very Clean, delicious and welcoming, 3 words that describe this awesome restaurant. The manager Giovany was very friendly, he welcomed us with a smile and an awesome service. The food is sooo delicious, if you're into grilled, healthy food, then this is the place. The food came fresh and delicious, the portions are big. We tried the chicken, salmon and filet mignon kebabs, all were yummi, they all come with a fresh side salad, hummus, rice and a special delicious green sauce. Service: I went there yesterday during lunch time after church , and it seems to be really popular, so the place was pretty chaotic. (Wasn't a bad thing, just lots of people having a good time) I got everything I ordered fast and correct. I never had to wait long or ask multiple times. All the staff were all very nice and sweet. The manager gave us a baklava as desert because it was my first time And definitely I'm coming back Food: I really went for the wraps but ended up trying the green olive plate and enjoyed every single one.
