I've been here one time before, maybe a year ago, and got a Boba drink for me and my co-worker. They're drinks were pretty good and they have lots of options. It can be a little overwhelming at first. I ordered some lunch to-go a couple weeks ago and the photos of their lunch looked awesome and had good reviews, so I got the Popcorn Chicken entree. It says it comes with two side dishes and rice with meat sauce. I got the box and the chicken wasn't that bad, I felt like it was missing something. I did request a sauce on the side, but didn't get one. I think it would have tasted better with some kind of a sauce, or maybe that's just me liking everything saucy. The rice was ok, but it said two sides and it had a curry potato side and some broccoli on top of that, so not sure if that's considered one side or two. I thought a soup would be included maybe that was the other side? I had no soup, but was given a spoon with my order for some reason. All in all it was ok. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't crazy about it either. Not sure if I would order food from here again, but I would definitely come back for their drinks. Staff is very friendly, nearby location. Ten Ren is always a solid, but I feel that the Walnut location is the best. Maybe because it isn't overly crowded with people and you get what you're expecting. Met a friend there. Great place to sit and chat, and there are plenty of great food and drink choices to make your time there very pleasant. Parking is pretty easy. It's a little wonky getting into the parking lot though because if you're heading northeast on Valley Blvd, you'll have to make a u-turn on Lemon in order to get into the parking lot because the median will prevent you from making a turn directly into the parking lot. I got there around 5:30 pm on a Monday and it wasn't crowded. By 6pm it was packed. From 6-8pm you bet they have a special where you get a regular house tea for just $1.95 with any entree. Nice! I'm not going to go on and on about the menu because it's extensive. Whether you just want a snack on of the myriad versions and varieties of tea, hot pot, ramen.....trust me, you'll have no trouble finding something good to eat or drink. I had a miso-based hotpot with fish as my choice ingredient. Loved it. I also had a boba tea. I don't even like boba that much but I loved this one! The staff is really nice. They have wifi. You can choose the level of spiciness (we choose medium for when we want it mild, and usually get an extra spicy for when we want more of a kick). They are open during coronavirus for carry out. We placed our order over the phone and it was ready in 10-15 minutes. We also ordered beef rolls, which came with a small container of pickled veggies that we liked. The beef rolls are more on the sweet side, but there's a good amount of cilantro and green veggies for a crunch. The beef noodle soup was better than expected, although the noodles did stick a lot together and were difficult to separate. The texture was still good and although it wasn't spicy, the broth was comforting. One entree and two snacks fed three of us for lunch for under $30. read more

I also ordered the beef rolls that used tortilla wrap instead of Chinese pancake wrap, so it did not taste right. They used to make it with the Chinese pancake wrap. Ten Rens Tea Time is a place that I often come to when I just can't decide on what to eat. They have such a large selection of food that, you'll be either very happy with coming here or you might want to just order everything because you just can't decide. I like coming here for a lunch or dinner with a few friends so we can share and try each other's menu choices. The place has plenty of seats but it is always busy even on the weekdays. Parking can sometimes be crazy and packed during lunch time. You can always order take out and just eat at your office. I love their grapefruit tea and also their taro slushy. If you are a fan of either these are pretty legit. I do make it less sweet because I don't really enjoy the very sweet drinks. Tried their hot pot over here which was pretty tasty as well and shared it between two people. It was enough and plenty of meat inside. If you need a place to eat and drink this is probably a pretty alright choice and you know hey are very consistent in the flavor of food and drinks here. First of all, I have to say, most of my friends and family go to Ten Ren ALL THE TIME. ALL THE TIME literally means I will run into someone I know every single time I dine there. It is at a VERY good location which really works out for residents around Walnut area. I have tried almost everything on the menu since I come here so often. My favorites are Mongolian beef, scrambled egg, Taiwanese pork chop and their spicy wontons. I think the hot pots are decent too as well except the soup base might not have a lot of flavors. Their beef ball glasses noodle and beef dumpling soup are both very decent too, those two can be very safe choices to go with. They used to have the snack size plates but recently got cancelled. You do not have the option to order mini size plates anymore right now. My kids love their popcorn chickens but I have to say the quality can be a little inconsistent at times. One more down side is that they repeat the same size dishes OVER AND OVER, DAY AFTER DAY. They taste good but you get tired of eating the same thing over and over though. It would be very nice to change to different side dishes from time to time instead of always having bean sprouts and broccoli. Last, their drinks are VERY good. The quality of the tea is very good and they are very good with adjusting to your personal needs with the sweetness. There are many levels that you can choose to have. Came in for a quick lunch while my car was being serviced. I had never had actual food from Ten Ren before, so I decided it was worth a try. Well, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but it wasn't very good. I had the chicken leg with noodle soup ($9.45). I love braised chicken leg noodle soup, but this one was just lacking in overall flavor. What was brought out to me was this pale clear broth with some thick noodles. The chicken leg was served on the side. The soup tasted like water until maybe 5-7 minutes later when the server came by to drop off a small bowl of beef sauce which should have been added to the soup prior to serving it to me but was somehow forgotten initially. Even with the beef sauce, there wasn't much flavor. It helped, but the soup was so thin and lacking in actual meat flavor that even that beef sauce couldn't save it. The chicken leg was a strange mealy texture and had a weird flavor to it. By itself, it was too salty, but put into the soup, it became mushy and flavorless. I'm not sure, I think this particular Ten Ren recently underwent a change in ownership judging from their revamped food menu. My sister and I shared the following: -spicy wontons ($5.95 for 8): these are sizable dumplings where you can actually see and taste the meat filling. I appreciated the chopped scallions, cilantro + seaweed strips topping - it really added another layer of flavor to the already juicy dumplings. -popcorn chicken ($3.35 for a half order): tender, crunchy, had a good kick of spiciness - this is as good as any popcorn chicken could get. This was a steal at $3 bucks because you get so much per order. -Chinese spaghetti ($7.50): ground pork + onion marinara topped with a fried egg. The spaghetti had a nice chew, and the fried egg was a nice touch. It was a tad too sweet for me, but whatevs, it was good for what it was. I like this Ten Ren. It's open all the freaking time (Christmas included), and churns out consistent drinks. This is the place to go to for happy hour! $9 a pitcher, you can't beat that unless you're drinking home alone! There are plenty of tables and it's a good place for groups. They allow you to bring your own games and don't make you order a minimum per person like other asian tea places. The dragon chrysanthemum hot tea is delicious! The first pot tasting the best because it's just perfectly sweet, but when you refill it with hot water, the later cups lose its flavor and it tastes like you're just drinking water. I always get a stamp card and end up tossing it somewhere. It would be great if they switched to a digital rewards system.. They close at midnight which gives us plenty of time to chill. This relatively new location of Ten Ren is located in the most annoying stripe mall in the Walnut area. There is virtually no way to turn in heading east or north. You just have to go to the right light to make a U turn and with so many no U turn interceptions on Valley, it could be quite annoying. The place is decent sized and nicely decorated with big screen TV's and modern decor. We were seated promptly by the friendly staff. Everything was great until a couple of Asian teenagers sat down in the next table. They totally ruined out dining experience by gossiping loudly the whole time. I dislike loud Asians. We ordered sausage fried rice, beef hotpot with miso soup base, stinky tofu and popcorn chicken for the 3 of us. Surprising, the food is not that bad!! Ten Ren is usually known for overpriced teas but their Taiwanese night market food is quite tasty. The stinky tofu wasn't very traditional and stinky but other than that, everything was at least a 4 star. I can see why teenagers flock to this place. It's reasonably prices and tasty. read more

Spent almost $15 for two boba tea drink. Experience was awful as it was like drinking sugar water. I especially ordered 70% sugar but still way sweeter than full sugar compared to other stores. I love love LOVE Ten Ren. I'm a super big fan of all any of their locations. Their food and drinks are consistent across all of the restaurants. However, at this location, the service is hit or miss. Sometimes we have to wait a bit longer before we get our order taken or it takes a while to get noticed when we're trying to request the check or boxes. It seems like there's just a customer service issue when things get busy at this location. This location DOES serve alcohol. I took my co-workers here for happy hour and they all loved the food and drinks, just didn't care much for the customer service. I've been here several times since that visit and it's still the same regarding the customer service. The parking in the lot is plentiful and the restaurant and bathrooms are fairly clean. read more

I love this Ten Ren because they have the full menu. I'm a huge fan of their Kung Pao Chicken and iced teas.
