After getting water in my basement last spring I asked three different plumbing companies to come out and give me their thoughts on a solution. The first two just tried the easy fix of routing out the drain pipe to the sumpump and left within an hour. When the next heavy rain came we got water again. I called Green Tech Plumbing and Kevin came out. He said, "if this was my house. this is what I would do." I had a gas leak in my house in the city of Chicago. The gas company shut off the gas and locked the meter. I called Greentech and they came out within an hour. They repaired three leaks in about 90 minutes. They hung around while the gas company came back and inspected the work. The gas company passed their work and turned the gas back on. Needing to redo an old bathroom with bad plumbing, I called Green Tech for some ideas and estimates. On his recommendation, I decided to have a steam shower system installed. Great idea! I had no idea how theraputic such a system would be after a hard days work, or just for relaxation. While I have never done a yelp review before, I was so unbelievably impressed with the level of service I received from Green Tech that I felt this was necessary. From the moment I called Kevin I knew I was in good hands. He was able to schedule me in for the next day, which was great. Dan arrived on time the following morning. I'm loving both Yelp and Green Tech right now. We have a valve installed under our utility sink in the basement that we close when there is heavy rain and flooding. Without the valve, water can back up into the sink and into the basement. Today Chicagoland was hit with the very heavy rain and flooding that I feared.... and of course, our valve broke. As our street started to fill with water I headed to Yelp to look for a plumber. The reviews of Green Tech were stellar, so I called and got an answering machine. I left a message at 9:32am and was not all that hopeful for a response given that today may be one of the busiest days for plumbers this whole year. At 9:41am I got a call back from Kevin. He was super personable and helpful, quickly understood my needs and despite this being a day from hell, said this would be a quick fix and that he would try to fit me in after lunch. Sure enough, he called after lunch and said Tim was on his way. Tim was awesome... he took a look, discussed options with us and within less than half an hour I had a new valve at a reasonable price. Would have been easy to gouge customers on a day like today. We have a couple of other plumbing projects and we will definitely be calling Green Tech. I highly recommend them. Kevin from GreenTech helped me out of a jam last week. He talked me through cleaning off the thermal sensor to my water heater to try to get it running again. When that didn't get it started he talked me through getting a new FV sensor and trouble shooting that. I ended up getting the water heater started and Kevin helped me through the whole process. Fantastic; love this company! I called Kevin the owner when we were in dire straits. Another company had come out when our toilet/tub backed up and had told me that we needed to break open the concrete basement floor, change 4 inch pipes to 6 inches pipes... all this before the guy could even clean out the tree roots blockage that was farther down the sewer pipe. I called Kevin and told him I was in need of a second opinion quickly. He kindly squeezed me into that schedule the same day which awesome as the plumber who just left said don't use your tub, shower or toilet! I had heard great things about Green Tech on the Next Door app as well as Yelp reviews. They were able to get the blockage cleared out before and after the flood control without any issues or breaking open my basement floor. They sent a camera down and viewed the pipes and all was clear. This saved us thousands of dollars. I highly recommend them. After finding a mud puddle in my front lawn, I had the village come out to inspect the problem I was advised that the water main too my home cracked. I called 2 other companies before I found Green Tech via a neighbors recommendation. One told me the issue was the villages issue, and never called me back with an estimate after two follow up phone calls. The other company gave me an estimate without ever coming to my home. I called Green Tech Plumbing and spoke to Kevin. As mentioned in another review, Kevin was very laid back and personable. They explained everything that they found, they were able to return some unneeded parts, AND, they didn't need to break up the sidewalk. My husband and I were in the process of buying a home. Our inspector brought some plumbing issues to our attention and suggested we get a second opinion from a professional plumber. We were in love with the property and really wanted it to work out but knew that plumbing was nothing to mess with - so we called Kevin at Green Tech. He did not charge us, came out to the property, and unfortunately found some MAJOR issues that were way beyond the original problems documented in our inspection. He saved us from making a major purchase that would have ended up costing us close to $20K to repair. I highly recommend Green Tech! Very knowledgeable both on the phone and in person. They came out to inspect our sewer line for a blockage. They showed me the blockage on camera and then proceeded to rod it out for us. They told me our sewer was in good shape with good flow. Previous company told us the pipe was cracking and we needed to replace to the tune of 10,000. So nice to be treated fairly, educated by the company and treated with respect. Green Tech came out in the Fall to replace an exterior hose spigot. They were fast, friendly, and professional. Their communication was great. When I first used the faucet in the spring, it had leaked into the basement. The shaft of the faucet had cracked, presumably during the winter. They came out, next day, a Sunday, and fixed it under warranty. I will definitely call them for all of my future plumbing needs. A tradesman you can trust is invaluable. read more

Long story short, Village came out to look through the sewer line before they started a main sewer project next Spring, they could not see because our sewer line was full of water. Went through Angie's list and found a highly rated plumbing company with good reviews and the cost was $99. They came out, could not clear the clog, their camera was under water too and proceeded to provide us with an estimate to install a new cleanout outside my home at the cost of $4800 to $6800. We had the line cleared about 2 years ago and there were no problems but we couldn't remember who we had come out so I went to Yelp. Looked around and found that I could provide my situation and have multiple companies respond. The most frequent questions and answers came from Kevin at Green Tech Plumbing Co. so I decided to look at their reviews on Yelp. Not a bad one in the bunch and even the one, just one mind you, that was only one star Kevin responded as I would want any one to respond by taking ownership. I talked to Kevin on the phone and he is as others have said, attentive, quick to respond and tells it like it is. He said I was out of his area of service but if I wanted to pay the extra then he would send someone out. He told me if he came out and could not clear the clog that he wouldn't charge me but wanted the opportunity to provide an estimate for the outside cleanout. He said if he did come out it would be about $500. Kevin sounded like he really knew his stuff so we agreed and made arrangements for him to come out today. Dan and Nick were very professional. They asked questions and I told them all of the above and they went to work. They got the clog cleared as anticipated. They put the camera in to show me and they could move the camera out all the way to the street connection to show that it was cleared. Dan was very clear explaining everything he had done, showing me what was what on the camera view. Showed me different areas of the sewer line so that I would know it was completely clear. My review goes beyond just a "review." This is a note of personal gratitude from our family to Kevin and his team. I don't know why plumbing problems cannot happen to us on say a regular Tuesday in the morning, but it was Saturday at 5 pm on Labor Day weekend, and we had a leak. Not just a leak, but a horrible, smelly problem coming from the stack in the basement with backed up water running through our ceiling and no usable toilets. And 2 kids... all facing a long holiday weekend. I called multiple local places, and nobody was "available." I called Green Tech based on their all-star reviews, and I talked with Nick. At first he said he didn't service this area, but he said he was happy to talk with me on the phone (for free) just to try to get the problem under control. He gave me the name of a local plumber, and I called - but no answer. I called Nick back just desperate. I know they do not normally service this area, and it was a long drive, but he knew the situation and said he would call his guy and see if he could work it out -- which he did. I feel badly that I cannot remember the name of the guy who came out and saved us. He was fantastic. He explained the problem, which was tree roots in our sewer that had finally backed everything up. He rooted it all out -- a horrible job -- and tested everything in our house to make sure we were back to normal. A day later you would never know we had a problem. No more smell, toilets all working, yay. I cannot imagine where we would be without Nick's kindness. Yes, we paid extra for the overtime and travel costs, but it was OK because he had told me that beforehand, and I told him I was totally ok with it given the situation! Kevin and Tim were both awesome to work with. The previous night, I had another plumber visit my home to inspect a gas leak problem and provided an estimate of $1,400 -- which would have included replacing ALL the old gas lines in my basement, Luckily, I called Green Tech the next morning and spoke with Kevin who patiently listened to my description of the problem and suggested a less costly alternative. Tim ended up coming by that morning and doing a pressure air test on the gas lines. He was able to patch the one leaky pipe (which was still in good condition), re-run the air test, and no longer had a leak. It only ended up costing us $300 to fix the problem. This was a huge difference and certainly a welcomed relief for our pocket book. Green Tech is an honorable company that provides great service while looking out for the customer's best interest as well. They are now my plumber of choice in the AH area! read more
