Where to begin... yesterday I called up Green Tech Plumbing because of a leaking valve in the crawlspace of my home. Now, normally something like this would be super easy to fix (just tighten the nut) BUT I was nervous to do it myself because I have no idea where the main water shut off is. My house is old, I'd had other plumbers not be able to figure it out, so I thought one just wasn't installed. Anyway, I called and spoke with Kevin, explaining my problems and we talked through the problems and what the solutions would be. He gave me a quote over the phone but said that he would have his guy (who wound up being Tim) look for the water shut off before installing a new one. By the by, my home is old so it is completely possible for there to not be a water shut off valve other than what the water company uses (in case you guys think I'm nuts). Oh, and Kevin said that it would take 3-4 hours to do and would cost $500 - $600. I agreed and we set an appointment for the next day (the leak was just dripping so not an emergency). Cut to today, Kevin calls to make sure I'm home and tells me that Tim is on his way. Now, I really appreciate this because there is nothing worse than having some strange man show up at your house and you not know who he is or what he's doing. Anyway, about 10 minutes later Tim shows up. I show him to the crawlspace an reiterate the problem. Tim was down there for less than 2 minutes and found the leak, assessed the fix, and found the water shut off. 2 minutes. I was shocked because I had a couple contractors and a plumber not be able to find it! Anyway, I asked Tim to show me exactly where it is and if we could double check that it's the shut off for my entire home. He was super patient and showed me the valve and waited for me to double check all the sinks and tubs. Sure enough, he was right and that was the water shut off. Tim even showed me how to tighten the nut and explained that it's common for a leak of that nature just due to turning the handle on and off. So yeah, I was stoked with all that and the best part? When I asked how much I owed, he laughed and said he didn't do any work so it was free of charge. I mean, I insisted on paying him and he said it was fine and to have a great day! So not only did I get great service from the moment I called and spoke with Kevin. But then Tim shows up and is patient and allows me to follow him around to see what he's doing and to make sure I understand my own house. But no charge?! Wow. All of that being said, I highly recommend Green Tech Plumbing. I will definitely be using them for all future plumbing projects. read more

We had standing water in our basement, called them up after seeing the other reviews and they were there in 20 minutes on a Sunday morning. We were told by both the person on the phone and the plumber that came out that it would be double time being a Sunday, which was very courteous of them. Problem was fixed in less than an hour and we were good to go. It was a bit pricey but I didn't compare with other companies so I can't say it was fair. These guys are fantastic!!! You can believe the first line on their website regarding emergency service. It was the middle of the night when we had a downpour of water in our bathroom, when we tried calling a half a dozen 24 hr service plumbers. This plumbing service was not only able to help us, but went far beyond our expectations. We spoke with Fred, who spent a lot of time with us on the phone. He ensured that the main water line was shut off properly along with the hot water heater reservoir, and had us open other faucets to clear the pressure. He was competent and caring. He had us send pictures of the pipes to help us understand what we were doing. This guy was not only nice and kind but really knew plumbing. Eric, the plumber who called early the next morning on a weekend to come out for service was wonderful. He was so down to earth and explained everything to us. He did quality work in a very timely manner. He was very competent and knowledgable. We have been in our house for years and have used various plumbers. Woke up on a Friday morning to semi warm shower and figured the pilot light was out on the hot water heater. Finished with my shower and upon going to the basement to inspect I was treated to water jetting out of my hot water heater. I called Green Tech and talked to someone extremely helpful and ready to divert someone over to my house asap. I didn't relish the idea of taking time off from work for a long process off replacing the heater. To my happiness, they were able to send someone out first thing on Saturday morning. Awesome!! Luckily, it was discovered that the problem was just a simple crack in the outer faucet. No new heater needed. No con, no up-selling, just professional work that saved the day. Originally called Mr. Rooter for root out our main sewage line since we had water backup and they did such a poor job that they had to come back the following month. Mr rooter said we needed hydrojetting since our sewage line was 99% blocked which would have added to over 1500 hundred in expenses. Good thing I called Kevin from green tech who informed me we didnt need hydrojetting. They came and did the job, showed us the results in the camera and we called it a day. Our sewer backed up and I was looking for a new plumber on the day after Christmas. I picked Green Tech based on my conversation with Kevin, the price quoted to rod out my line, and the 5 Star rating I saw on Yelp. The tech that came out was knowledgeable, professional, and ran a camera through the line after initially rodding it, rodded it again after seeing some more roots, then ran the camera through one more time to show me that the line was clear all the way to the main. These guys are super professional and know their stuff. Had to call them on a Sunday (of course) for a backed up sewage line. Kevin responded right away and let me know that it would be extra due to the weekend, but hey, when you've got sewage backing up into your house, you really don't sweat the small stuff. A couple of other places I tried to contact never responded or said they couldn't get someone over until the next day. Kevin had a guy onsite in no time, who cleared the immediate blockage (roots growing in sewage line in less than two year old house, who'd of thunk it?) and I scheduled them to come back out on the following Wednesday to do a more thorough cleaning with a larger cutter (guy on Sunday only had a small one). Long story short, it wasn't cheap but both guys that came out were very polite and professional and they even gave me a USB with video of the sewage line so I can see that it was cleaned thoroughly. They even pointed out some potential future trouble spots to keep an eye on. Safe to safe, if I need plumbing services in the future (hopefully not soon, and especially not on a weekend), I'll be calling these guys. read more

I wish there was a ten star option because Green Tech deserves it. I've been utilizing Green Tech for plumbing issues since I moved to the neighborhood last fall. In typical fashion my ejector pump went out a day before I was leaving to go out of town for two weeks. Kevin fit me in on a Saturday and installed a new pump for me. We have an old house in Des Plaines where we also have a very high water table so plumbing has been an issue in our house since we moved in 5 years ago. We've gone through quite a few plumbers and haven't found any we've really trusted and quite a few that we found out later really took advantage of us. Kyle came to fix a few issues and then found out one of the weird gurgling sounds we've been ignoring was due to a previous plumber closing off a roof vent. I've used various plumbers over the years but decided to call these guys based on their Yelp reviews. I had water dripping through my basement ceiling from a pipe hidden in the kitchen walls upstairs. I called Greentech and talked to Kevin. He sent out a great young plumber, Tim. He arrived exactly on time, made some measurements, and determined where in the wall the leaking pipe was probably located. He made a small 6"x6" cut in the wallboard - and there was the dripping pipe. He made the repair. I had been envisioning a major disaster; instead the job was done in 45 minutes, at a very reasonable price. From now on all my plumbing business goes to Greentech. Great Company!! My in-laws (who are senior citizens), had a toilet that backed up and called another company to come out and fix the problem. They attempted to rot out the line but said it was too clogged and that they would have to sign a contract to have them come back the next day to do some other procedure??? (Day 1 was over $500 and day 2 was going to be $1600!) It gets better...They proceed to tell my father-in-law that if the second procedure doesn't work, they'll need to dig up the lawn. (I can only imagine how much they would have charged for that!) I told my wife to let me check Yelp before they proceed with these crooks.
