I've driven past Green Tea for years, and finally got an opportunity to try it for myself. The outside is a little bland, and I'm not 100% sure they don't have two entrances. The one facing the road will get you fastest to the hostess stand though. It looks like they may have seasonal outdoor seating in the back of the parking lot, but don't hold me to that. The interior dining room is a mix of tables and booths, with enough space where you don't feel like you're on top of another party. It's very subtly decorated, the tables are very crisp and clean. They are a Coke establishment, and also have a big bar available. There were complimentary crisps and sauce provided before the meal. The menu is big, but has so many tasty sounding options! I ultimately tried the Crispy Mayo Shrimp, not 100% knowing what to expect. Maybe not bright orange, but it was delicious! The shrimp were plentiful and well cooked, and the sauce was savory with the walnuts giving a sweet bite. I can't wait to order it again. The restroom is a bit of an adventure, going to the back of the hallway and left. Getting out and turning left is even more so, because there's a pretty consistent line of traffic coming both ways!

I am a healthy person with a normal digestive system but the next day, all hell broke loose, and I do mean loose. The food tasted o.k. but there was speculation on my part that something was just not right after the next morning. Thinking back during the ordering, the gal that took my order didn't even look at me in the face, like she was hiding something. Found out, something could have been off with the food.

Since my last…read morereview I have discovered sushi, have checked out a lot of places, and this is by far one of the best places for it. Always fresh. Standout is always the Torched Salmon from the sushi bar, so smoky-tender, and also the Hotate Hokkaiyaki appetizer, baked scallop, flying fish roe, mushroom, and spicy mayo. Both unusual but super delectable. Tonight I also scored on some fatty tuna, which isn't always easy to find and that I had not tried yet, just so buttery and perfect on the sushi rice! An add-on was the baby hamachi (yellowtail), also yummy and different from regular yellowtail. I like that the soy sauce they provide is not overly salty like some. All this was accompanied by a perfectly-mixed orange martini, just a good, fresh, light meal. There's just no substitute for fresh, perfectly assembled sushi! I also agree with another reviewer who points out that a lot of Pan-Asian places are "jacks of all trade, masters of nothing", but Bamboo is just the opposite. I've never had a bad meal or bad service here.

So happy we decided to try it! The restaurant had great lighting and cute decor. We decided to sit at the bar which was empty. I ordered a mocktail called Ginger Dawn, which was a lemon, ginger and honey drink. It was so yummy and perfectly balanced. My friend ordered a Whiskey Sour off the late night happy hour menu and he said it was good. As for food, it was so tasty and just got better with every bite. I ordered the okoyadon rice bowl which was chicken, egg and scallions over rice. It was so delicious. It was very hot when it first came out but once it cooled down a little bit, the flavor was amazing. My friend got yakiudon noodles with beef and the flavor was great. We ordered the spring rolls off the happy hour menu. I've had better spring rolls elsewhere, but it was nice to have on the happy hour menu. For dessert, we ordered the lychee sherbet and the sweet potato cheesecake. I loved the lychee sherbet...powerful flavor and I couldn't stop eating it. The sweet potato cheesecake had good flavor if you really like sweet potato, but I thought it was a little dry. I would absolutely come back and try other dishes and drinks. Also the bartender, Sarah, was so lovely, made us feel welcomed and I loved her vibe.

The space is absolutely beautiful: modern, bright, and spotless. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out piping hot. They bring each dish out as it's ready instead of all at once, so keep that in mind if you like everything served together. Personally, I didn't mind because it just meant my soup was perfect when it arrived, and my son's appetizer followed shortly after. I didn't check out the bathrooms this time, but judging by the rest of the restaurant, I'm sure they're just as immaculate. Black Bamboo is the only Chinese food I'll eat, period. If you know me, you know I'm picky, and this place never disappoints. Every bite tastes fresh, the service is friendly, and the vibe is always calm and inviting. Over the years I have had everything on the menu, and I've never had a bad meal. My personal favorites: the egg rolls, scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup and their fried rice, which I honestly think is the best in the world, period. My son is all about their beef teriyaki and it's his go-to every single time. This is exactly the kind of place where you can try something new and know it's going to be good. I recently ordered the chop suey and egg foo young for the first time ever, and both were fantastic. If you've been curious to branch out, this is where you want to do it; you can't go wrong. Also, they have real duck sauce for a small upcharge. Not just stuff in the packet (yuck). So if you're craving Chinese food in West Hartford, go to Black Bamboo. You'll taste the quality, feel the difference, and probably end up like me... a loyal regular who can't eat Chinese anywhere else.
