Just had dinner here and I am hoping we are not sick tonight. The pork fried rice smelled bad so we didn't eat it and when we notified the waitress, she argued and took it away without offering another option. We did eat the fire cracker chicken, which was neither tangy nor spicy as described but chalky and oily. We also had the tangerine beef which was too tough to cut or chew. i have read the reviews that say this is the best Chinese food in Farmington but something must have changed since those reviews were written. This by far is the worst Chinese restaurant in the general area. I don't understand how their food is so dramatically different from their Simsbury location. I have tried to eat here at least 5 times and regret it each time . One evening , we had dirty silverware at the table. When we asked to have it replaced, we had to remind the server twice after out main dishes came out, so we sat there waiting to eat our food. The restaurant was dirty. The restrooms were not cleaned properly. The food had no flavor at all. The reason we kept trying it was because we thought that on different nights we might get a different chef and because it is so close to our home. Beautiful place to grab a bite. I came with my family for a quick dinner and it was perfect. Service was great and the food came out really really fast. We ordered a few dishes and split them family style. My favorite was the general tsos. It wasn't crunchy which I loved because I like it softer. It has a great sweet sauce on it and it was so yummy. I ordered take-out through Grubhub and saved up for 2 weeks as a special dinner. It was awful. The dumplings were good but the pork friend rice was dry, the sesame chicken had almost no sauce, the beef teriyaki was under-cooked, the boneless ribs were dry and tasteless, and the golden fingers tasted like the were cooked in old oil that had been used for fish. They have dimsum, Vietnamese, Chinese and some Japanese dishes which is interesting and satisfies my families tastes. I travel to Connecticut often for work and I've eaten in some fantastic restaurants throughout the whole West Hartford area. But green tea is always my go to when I want some delicious pad Thai!! I have tried some pad Thai in several Chinese restaurants as well as Thai restaurants in the West Hartford/Farmington valley area and they do not even come close to how delicious it is at green tea!! And the owner is always so friendly when I come to pick it up. I can't speak for other food there because the only thing I've ever gotten is the pad Thai because I love it so much. But I have gotten their spicy wonton appetizer and I enjoyed that too. read more

It was just okay. We dined I'm on a week night and the restaurant was completely empty with 2 customers coming in for pick up during our meal. Ordered 2 combo meals - which came with a choice of soup and rice. My meal came out warm with some pieces of chicken actually being on the cold side. Waitress never asked how our meal was. I love this place. I moved here from New York and being a broke college grad, the first thing I did was scout out the local Chinese food places. I wondered into this place on my way home and I ordered take out. Since, I order from here several times a month. I love their shrimp lo mien, the portions are really generous and they are consistent. They are also much cheaper then other Chinese places around. They have a great healthy food selection that includes steamed dishes which I also enjoy. I have never ate in, but I've looked around and the atmosphere seems pleasant enough and is always clean. I am surprised to see the negative reviews on here but I've personally never had a bad experience. read more

i have lived in town for almost 3 years now and just yesterday I decided to try this place for the first time. Well there is a reason why Green Tea in Farmington never has any cars in their parking lot. Almost 3 years since I have lived in town and an hour ago I finally ordered take out from Green Tea. I got the Sczuan Chicken which was adequate, but nowhere near as spicy as it should have been. They also "claim" to do Thai food too, so i jumped on the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, a dish that is pure magic when you get it at the Green Papaya in Canton. This dish was horrible! if I had a dog I wouldn't give it to him. I thought about rescuing the chicken in there, but that also was seasoned with their "bad taste" seasoning and I tossed it all in the garbage. I would rather drink muddy water and sleep in a hollow log than eat their Drunken Noodles! read more

The chinese food here is what you expect from a restaurant that leans toward the Americanized chinese dishes. I enjoy the crab rangoon, house fried rice and general tso's. What gets me in the door is their dim sum menu. It has enough variety for me to fulfill my craving for dim sum until I go back to Boston to visit my family. I have ordered 80% of their dim sum menu in one sitting so I can confidently say it is worth a venture to Farmington. It is not top-notch, but it will do for my cravings. read more

Green Tea does great food, prices have gone up and portion sizes down in the last few years but it's still good food. Soups, rib tips, and egg rolls are fantastic here. Chicken with broccoli comes with a white sauce which is unfortunate but you can have them make it the brown. read more

I went here for Valentines Day and the place was pretty empty... so I thought to myself BAD SIGN!! The place is under construction kinda so its not the nicest but overall it had an okay atmosphere. It was... simple. I noticed one girl RUNNING around like a chicken with her head cut off from table to table. It was clear that they had one person working the floor I was on, not very professional. We sat and got our order in pretty quickly despite the fact that there was only one person working. The food came out very quick and it was pretty good. My order (chicken and broccoli) was NOT very good and didnt taste like the traditional stuff you would get at a chinese restuarant. But my boyfriends food (the ribs) was amazingggggggg! So overall I would return and just order a different meal. *and ps we tipped that waitress like 50% because she was just the bomb. read more

Recently went to Green Tea and the experience was not as expected. The food was luke warm, at best, and the Jasmine rice I ordered was NOT Jasmine, but regular plain white. When I brought this up to our waitress, she actually argued with me and insisted that it was Jasmine! The food was just "ok" and the service poor. I will not be going back. read more

We would come here as a sit-down type chinese food restaurant and it was always an incredible experience however the past year they've really tanked! One meal I had in it was appeared to be a beard hair (if not worse), and after that the meals have been served cold - almost as if they were pre-cooked and refrigerated to be reheated in a microwave. My last visit was for lunch and others who came in after us were served well before us. I couldn't wait as I had an appointment. This is my favorite chinese resteraunt! I highly recommend it because there is great service, great tasting food, and is overall a great family resteraunt. I specifically recommend the sesame chicken and hot and sour soup. in fact, I don't really like hot and sour soup from any other place than here. Told waitress about pad thai and returned almost full plate and barely got an apology and no offer of any adjustment. Pricing is OK but not when the food is poor or not edible. I just read the review that gave this restaurant one star and can't believe they ate at one of our favorite restaurants Green Tea. Coming from New York, which has the very best Chinese, I can only say that this restaurant ranks with the best. It is hard to choose between Green Tea and another favorite Great Taste in New Britain. Green Tea is a regular lunch spot for us and you can't beat the price. I always order the same ginger shrimp with onions and scallions. The wanton soup is good but can use more pork. For the best wonton soup you can't beat Chan Du in West Hartford. My spouse always tries some different dishes like General Chou's bean curd, pan fried noodles with chicken and garlic chicken. Where can you get soup, fried rice, entree and free tea all for under eight bucks? If you ever have a problem let Dennis, the owner, know. He Is not always aware what comes out of the Kitchen. Sometimes the soup or tea is only Luke warm but we always tell the server who corrects the situation. The service has always been first rate. read more
