Wow, this place makes some good donuts. I stopped by around 10:30 this morning to grab some donuts just to try out another local place. The two employees behind were very polite and apologized because they were "pretty wiped out". There were some frosted donuts and GIANT fritters. I was told there were also some old fashioned of multiple different varieties in the back. Once I told them I had never been there, they told me that the classic old fashioned and blueberry are two of their most popular varieties of old fashioned so that's what I got. Hands down the best donuts in Madison. I love their glazed old fashioned, and can probably eat a whole dozen of them in one go! They're just out of this world. The chocolate old fashioned is good too, but a bit too chocolaty for me depending on the day. Their apple fritters are also to die for. I knew they were known for them, but wasn't planning on buying one since I'm not too much of a fruity dessert person, but they had samples put out, and I was taken in by the first bite. Best place to get donuts in Madison - maybe even in Wisconsin! They don't sell novelty donuts, but they're great at making the basics. My favorites are the Boston creme and jelly filled ones, but their old fashioned donuts never fail at pleasing the general crowd! Best of luck finding parking though. While they have parking alongside the road, you can't park there during rush hour. There's really nothing other to say then these donuts bring complete happiness to my heart. Ever since moving to Madison these have been my absolute favorite. A sweet Madison staple! I've picked up donuts here numerous times and I haven't been disappointed yet. I like the new location! It's brighter and more visible in my opinion. If you specifically want a box, they only have it for a dozen and up. They have such a variety of donuts in flavors and textures, from ones that are more dense to fluffy ones and filled, plain, frosted etc. The staple favorites for me is the oreo and the ones with chocolate frosting on top. I love the filled ones -- that little sweet, creamy filling in the middle brings my joy. The chocolate frosting is surprisingly not overly sweet either! My niece and I had a wonderful visit to Greenbush Bakery on a Friday morning. They had clearly been busy so the choices were a little limited- but still many delicious options. My niece chose a chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles, and I chose one topped with oreos and also an apple fritter. The apple fritter was absolutely incredible, and the donut was very good as well. The service was excellent- they were so nice and patient with my niece- letting her pay, getting her donut stickers, and generally doting on her :) Currently, there is no seating inside, but there was quite a bit of outdoor seating that we were able to use. The night before, the building behind Greenbush sprung a leak so the store closed for clean up. I showed up at 6am and saw the closed sign and thought "oh well, no donuts today". I used to live across the street from Greenbush which was unfair because they were always wafting beautiful aromatic donut smells into my apartment. (Literally always - they're open until 3AM.) The parking / outside area doesn't look promising, but it's a must try. They are very reasonably priced especially for the quality. They have the classics and some super fun flavors like sour cream old fashioned, apple pie filled, fruity pebble topped, pumpkin when it's in season, oreo, and more. They also have a little beverage selection and I'd always get a chocolate milk. The service is always quick, informative, and friendly. There isn't a whole lot of room to sit & enjoy your donuts there, but they have to-go boxes or bags depending on how many you're buying. read more

I've been here many times and always forget to write a review because the donuts are gone before I can think to take a picture of them. That being said, this bakery is definitely worth the hype. I've tried a pretty wide range of their donuts and the classic vanilla cake donut will always stand out to me as their best donut. I mean I would trek several miles in a Wisconsin snowstorm for these cake donuts. They are so perfectly balanced between sweet and soft yet a little crispy and always so fresh. Their old fashioned donuts are great as well, although their isn't a huge difference between the taste of the original sour cream and the flavored ones. I've tried blueberry and cherry and both times the fruit flavor was pretty muted. I'll also say that while their "raised" donuts are good, they are nothing too out of the ordinary. I can't recommend their cake donuts enough though, and if you haven't had a chance to try one yet you need to... ASAP! Also, the staff are always super friendly and the prices are fair.
