I have lived in Whittier for a long time & have never tried this spot. Went out for lunch today & tried it. Had the soup/salad/1/2 sandwich combo & it was so goooood!! Especially the fideo soup. I also had a michi & idk what's their mix is but it was one of the best michis I've had in a while. I can't remember the waitress name, but she was little older, but was superb! & so sweet.

Pork Chili Colorado $16.50 - Just ok. Good beans

I should have read my review from 8 years ago. Bad, bad... Caldo soup had good flavor but lots of fatty meat. Chili Colorado (pork) was ok, beans good. Some reviews say pricing is cheap but most breakfast seems to be $16+. Service was bad from table service, to trying to on the bill, to being ignored when trying to pay at the counter. Lady walked away then didn't look at me. Hate to say it but if you don't speak Spanish you're ignored. My wife is Mexican and speaks Spanish. The tables next to us with people all speaking Spanish had great service all afternoon. F this place, I'm done here.

One could describe this place as sh*tty delicious authentic Mexican food or authentic Mexican food, without having to wait in line or for food, I guess 4pm is the perfect time to come for any meal, especially watching that silver haired fox playing solitaire on his 'notebook' wearing massive earphones like I don't know what's going on in them ears. The ladies who work here are aunties I wish I had growing up serving me exactly what's on the menu. It's all a little greasy but nothing extra, nothing missing. The best part about the breakfast, besides being served all day, is like a smartie, they melt your butter in them freshly toasted bread. The quesadilla reminded me so much of my first quesadilla made by my old English tutor from El Salvador. Greenleaf though use a much better, larger tortilla. It's exactly what I want at 4pm and 12am. No other time in between. Love the homemade chips and yummy orange Tang! Everything I want in an orange soda without the soda. Edit: 2 days later: fecal consistency is not great if not lacking. For the vegetarians who ate here we're still fighting this constipation and tummy rumbles two days after that authentic Mexican food.

The whole stem took most of seeds out.

2nd time here. I'm from La Verne. I come down here every Sunday for a class. First time I went after class, ordered a Menudo (no pata ) and Chile relleno burrito wet with no rice. My boyfriend ate the Menudo when I wasn't home so didn't get to see it. He said it was alright. My burrito I took to work the next day. Not gonna lie. It was delicious but it had all the seeds and stem. Wanted to try the menudo so got it with not too much hominy, and a chile relleno a la cart. To go order $27 plus 3$ tip. What do you see wrong about my order this Monday?

Keep in mind both these drinks were on the sugary side, but I personally like that, but to each their own. The Aztec Mocha was super chocolatey which I loved, and the prices for each are fair for the size you get. The breakfast combo was very very good, a very generous amount of egg, the hash browns were crunchy and hot, and the bacon was delicious. I loved everything on the plate. The mini pancakes were great, good agreeable amount and came out hot. I would highly recommend the combo The chilaquiles were great as well, salsa had a nice flavor, chips were crunchy, and eggs were cooked to perfection. I'm not a beans person, but these were very good and light, I would recommend to order these as well. Overall, everything I had here was great, and I would highly suggest to come here and support you local small business. The ambiance was nice and well decorated with good music and friendly staff, I'll definitely be back!

The food was amazing, very flavorful, colorful, and served with grace. Our waiter was fantastic, and the owner was just amazing. He was extremely friendly and made sure everything was okay. The drinks were delicious, the Asada plate was wonderful, the meat was so tender and juicy, the chili relleno was different from what you think it would be, but also very delicious. They brought out the chips first, and they were great. The owner let us know everything was fresh and was flown in from Mexico, I believe he said Oaxaca. The guacamole is amazing! The vibe was very home like yet colorful and open. Fridays they have live music. Please if you havent tried Sol make a stop you won't regret it.

They greet u and plop a basket of thin crispy chips and what turned out to be.. mole.. i thought it was black beans.. maybe they shouldn't pour the mole on the chips.. some people dont like mole.. we dont.. its chocolate sauce with latin flavors.. I felt bad wasting the basket and asking for salsa.. The guy cam back with what he called salsa.. I wasn't sure what it was.. it was sweet.. I think it was roasted tomatoes.. i still dont know how I feel about it.. But my pallett wasn't expecting it.. So u need to know.. the Food is Oaxaca style and they have 5 Mole flavors But u can order other things not covered in mole. If you are like us.. and not i to mole.. We did not know this but we stayed and enjoyed the carne asada platter which my husband enjoyed .. I got taquitos. The service is extremely friendly.. but slow.. 25 minutes later we got the beverages we ordered. They do give u a neat presentation of bottles water and small drinking glasses.. unfortunately the tap water isnt the best in whittier.. I grew up here.. toss some lime in the water My food was too crunchy.. I couldn't eat it.. I ended up just eating the inside. Before I broke a tooth on that tasty tequito! I feel they should give u a choice on salsa.. perhaps bring a little salsa flight.. cus mole isnt what we expected. I thought it was black beans.. so its a shock to the pallet when you assume its something.. perhaps ask the guest before you have to waste a basket of chips Love this place.. tried it. We recommend it.. we are visiting from out of town and staying nearby.. This place is delicious and a cute date spot.. try the coctails.. ask for the guacamole.. and enjoy the 5 flavors of mole ..

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

Our server was Ashley and she was so friendly and sweet! She answered all our questions and was very attentive to us throughout the dinner! She even refilled my hot water multiple times, which is SO RARE in a restaurant!!!! The food itself was delicious and had great portion sizes! The appetizers were great (calamari and caprese salad)! Good shareable portions for the table! For dinner, we ordered the short rib pappardelle, which was DELICIOUS and was a hit!!! There was more than enough to split among three people! I had the grilled salmon salad which had a good hefty portion of salmon that was perfectly grilled, on a huge bowl of greens! I returned the plate and asked them to try again. When it finally came back, it was "medium-well" more on the "well" side unfortunately. Then to have this EXPENSIVE CUT OF MEAT NOT HAVE ANY FLAVOR!? TASTELESS! I couldn't believe it! So disappointed! Also, the mashed potatoes had way too much garlic and the carrots and asparagus were cold and barely cooked. It also looked like the restaurant had a full bar but they couldn't even make a pina colada! Or couldn't even recommend another alternative drink. We will not be returning.
