A friend and I walked here from Golden Gate Park and came in on a Sunday right after opening. The inside is clean and there are stools to sit with a counter to enjoy your meal. You can use a kiosk, but since they just opened the cashier was ready and willing to help. The staff here are friendly and nice. I recommend grabbing a drink to go along with your order. The spice level on the Spicy Moroccan Carrot soup and for the slaw on the fried chicken sandwich has a kick that was not expected! But it's good and flavorful. Thankfully, we asked for a couple of water cups and it helped with the spice. The packaging for the food is so cute! The bag and the boxes are very adorable. This is the first time we've ever had potato puffs. To be honest, they're the reason why we even walked into the restaurant. Thank God we did 'cause I would come here again just for the potato puffs! They're light and fluffy, yet dense. They taste like fried mashed potatoes and seem to have a cheese texture inside. But there's no cheese pull. There are other variations, but we chose the one with Parmesan cheese and it was a pretty good combo. The sauce that comes with it seems like a lemony aioli. I'm curious to try the essence of truffle next time. You get a good amount for the price. Gregoire has been on my list for a while, but I never had a chance to stop by until now. We happened to be in the area, noticed there wasn't a line, and figured it was the perfect time to finally try their famous crispy potato puffs. We weren't very hungry, so we skipped the sandwiches and just ordered the potato puffs as a snack. I know they're pretty simple--basically mashed potatoes coated in batter and deep-fried--but wow, they were so good! Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and totally addictive. They came with an aioli for dipping, but honestly, I was perfectly happy eating them on their own. This definitely won't be my last visit. An employee took 2 minutes to explain you can't simply add on puffs to an order and can't mix and match them because of the convoluted ordering system. I was so confused I just gave up and ordered an entire set of the regular puffs. I have to say they were underwhelming for all of the hype I heard about them. The breading was so-so, but the actual potato filling was soggy and lacked flavor. Same with the chicken sandwich- soggy and the bread was meh. Okay, these potatoes balls are insanely good. Imagine deep fried salty mashed potatoes in a buttery ball form. It comes with a vinegary dipping sauce and it's a perfect little snack. Glad I got to try this place that opened up a couple of months ago! It definitely an order to go location as there's only a couple of seats inside though they do have some patio tables lining the sides of the building. Service was pretty fast. It was lunch time and they were juggling preorders as well. Ordered the smoked salmon salad and potato puffs. I thought the packaging was very interesting as I think it's a first that I have eaten salad off wax paper inside a paper box. I'm not sure if it works as the dressing did leak into the box so it had to be composted instead of recycled. Salad was good. It looks small but that's because of the container. I thought there was a good amount of food in there. The potato puffs were slightly disappointing. The dipping sauce leaned on the saltier side but the potato puffs itself had no seasoning (no salt). The texture of the potato puffs was good as it was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My first order for my first visit were nine pieces of potato puffs that surrounded by a white truffle essence. Crunchy on the outside, mashed potato soft on the inside! Two words, chef's kiss! Good for takeout, but I could stay to finish all my potato puffs. Might be back to try other good eats. I wouldn't mind if Grégoire turned out French rather than Canadian. Was excited about trying this new spot in the sunset, a branch off of a famous Berkeley joint. It's bright and clean, with a handful of stools at the window. I see it doing well with folks picking up a lunch as I did coming from work, a quick afternoon potato puff pick-me-up, or an easy picnic in the park. Enjoyed the steak, arugula, blue cheese spread, though onions were surprisingly cold. Would reattempt this and ask for ciabatta grilled, and try the lamb. The USA's neighbor to the north cuisine dishes are not centralized under one restaurant and so you have to hunt for some Canadian dishes at different restaurants. There is one place which serves one of my favorite Canadian dishes which is poutine. On a Winter stroll in the Sunset Strip of San Francisco their is a place which used to serve purple colored Jamba Juice now serves their popular hot potatoes at Grégoire . This place serves sandwiches and wraps but the hot item on their menu is the hot potato also known as the potato puff. I was here for the poutine. I get excited over poutine because French fries , gravy, and cheese curds are my jam. The savory delicious gravy compliments the crunchy fresh fries and the cheese curds. Although the cheese curd has some cheese pull it was not as cheesy as some in SF. Overall a must try for Canadian poutine lovers. This review is for their food truck that's parked in the Presidio. We were visiting the tunnel tops and decided to give this spot a try. We tried their two best sellers, the chicken sandwich and crispy potato puffs. With tax and tip, it came out close to $30. I felt like the chicken sandwich had potential but it was lacking some flavor. The chicken while breaded nice didn't have any distinct flavor and really came from the sauce and slaw. The bread wasn't super fresh tasting. Maybe it was a bad day but it missed the mark for me. The potato puffs were decent. One order came with like 10 pieces, so it's good to share with a group. We got it with garlic and parsley but probably should've got em regular. It's basically a fried (although I wish they were crispier) mashed potato ball, while I like the idea, i felt like it needed more salt or pepper. The aioli for dipping added a nice flavor profile. Glad I got to try it and see what the hype was all about. Also, I overheard one of the workers say to a customer after me that they ran out of potato puffs since that item is popular, so go to this restaurant early if you want their potato puffs. Ok, now about the food! The Potato Puffs comes with 9 pieces, a dipping sauce, and doesn't have any filling inside the puff instead of it just being a plain mashed potato. I wish it had some type of filling inside the puff, but at least the sauce it came with helped a lot. Then there's the sandwich I ordered and the Fried Buttermilk Chicken Filet sandwich was my favorite item I got that day! First and foremost they should really update their menu and list all of the ingredients in their food. I went in and ordered the chicken pesto wrap. Ordered to-go. I got home and I take bite or the wrap only to find the wrap had tomatoes inside. I'm allergic to raw tomatoes... Thankfully I could pick them out and toss the salad. Despite the tomatoes, the wrap was a fail. The pesto was probably some of blandest I've ever had and chicken was even less satisfying. You definitely don't get your moneys worth here. I'm so excited Gregoire finally expanded to SF! I used to go to the Berkeley location several years ago, and I still reminisce about the potato puffs. Of course, I had to order my usuals here - the fried buttermilk chicken sandwich and the crispy potato puffs. These tasted just as delicious as I had remembered. I've had most of the different types of sandwiches at their Berkeley location, but my favorite has always been the fried chicken sandwich. The food packaging here is made for takeout (containers are stackable), although there's also indoor counter seating and 4 tables outdoors as well if you prefer to dine in. This place is pop-you-lar, already so pop-you-lar.... (the worst, i know) but I'm so happy to see that the winter soft opening is (almost) a line out the door!!!! And the food is worth it (honestly, they are very very efficient here and have an impressive and disciplined staff cranking out fresh orders, we got ours in under 15 minutes which was shocking). There's even a nice little board that says which are ready AND which are in progress (better than kaiser pharmacy amiright?!?!? ... ugh... anyway...), they also have a tablet for ordering if you don't want to order at the counter and want to just swipe your credit card. Staff were delightful, efficient and the food was everything we hoped for after almost six months of the signs announcing their arrival took over the (very) old Jamba Juice 'hot corner' at THE 9th and Irving of "Ninth-and-Irving".
