We decided to try Galinette as we've seen it on Yelp for a while and wondered if it was good, we parked on the street since there's no parking nearby. We came in to a pretty empty restaurant with some people on the other side of it. We got the escargot, chicken and a burger and beef tartare, and the escargot was average. Not much flavor but wasn't too bad to be honest. The reason why I gave it a 3 was the service, it wasn't bad but it was very uninviting, the people who was helping us didn't seem enthusiastic to have served us and kept a very straight and monotone voice was talking to us. half way through it felt like they wanted us to leave. Overall this was a decent place. For the food: the chicken was huge! though it was very standard and pretty dry in certain parts, the burger was much better in my opinion and actually worth getting maybe with some fries but they are 7$. The beef taretare was delicious and we devoured it.

Was craving beef tartare and was not disappointed. Everything was exceptional including the service. Will definitely be back very soon

We went here after a nice day at the beach. I've waited a week to post this review so I've had time to calm down and edit my emotions out of it. The food was ok but the service was terrible. We got seated fairly quickly around 7, no reservations but they weren't full. Our experience started off badly right from here as when the owner/manager? placed our utensils down I immediately picked up my spoon and handed it back since there was a substantial quantity of green stringy vegetables still stuck to the back of the spoon. The owner did not seem apologetic about this, but more annoyed he had to go replace my spoon, not apologizing for giving me an unsanitary utensil. Strike 1. While our order was taken fairly quickly, it was quite a while before any food came out. And I mean any food and quite a while. We were offered the bread and butter, they do charge for it here and don't tell you but we anticipated that, but ended up having to ask about it's status twice after at least a 20 min wait. We got the French Onion to share, and it was quite good. We finished it pretty fast, but apparently not fast enough. Most restaurants will fire your entrees while you eat your appetizer, not here. We finished our soup and bread and waited an additional 30 minutes for our entrees. The table next to us sat down after us and received their entrees about 10 min before we did. When I asked about this because we had ordered similar food, the owner just said it was because we'd ordered the appetizer. They weren't swamped, but they were busy. Still, no servers came to explain the delay in our food. Of note, we observed a table further down from us who had also been seated after us also receive their food before us but not begin eating and seemed upset. About 10 minutes later the owner brought them their missing appetizer and then they began to eat. So definitely not an isolated case. Strike 2. When our entrees finally came we were starving. It started off good, I really liked my steak and fries and my wife initially liked her salmon. But when she got to the middle of the salmon we found it very undercooked. When I called the owner over he barely let us get a word out and just said they always cook their salmon to medium rare. He did immediately ask if we'd like it cooked a bit more and my wife said yes. I'm not sure if this is true or the owner was just making it up. Fish isn't normally one of the dishes I'd expect cooked medium rare, even if the fish is sashimi grade. It's usually noted on the menu if it is. When we got it back it was more cooked, but still not cooked all the way through. We didn't end up finishing the salmon. Strike 3. We were pretty sour by this point, but wanted to end on a better note so we gave them a chance on dessert. So we got the seasonal fruit crumble. It was fresh strawberry ice cream with cookie crumble (like you'd get on a pie), which was actually pretty good. Overall I'm very disappointed and unsure if I'd give this place another try. If the food and service had been better then this would be a solid 4 star place. As it was, bluntly I've had better experiences at chain restaurants for significantly less money (total bill before tax+tip was over $100 for just the 2 of us). So for that price I'm expecting much better service and food quality.

The most perfect weather for dining outside by the beach. Paris in the D4. Amazing food and charming hosting by Alex the manager Chilled rose'paired with the chicken liver mousse was wonderful. The star of the meal was definitely the mussels with frites. So much flavor! JYW highly recommends

This place is excellent and far exceeded my expectations for a French restaurant in outer sunset area! It is located near the L, so easy enough to travel to and from for those not located in the area. Lots of street parking too. This place was packed for a cold Saturday night with a large party accommodated in the "upper" dining room (just a few steps). So that's good to know for the future. Their service is excellent. The server walked us through their specials and helped to pair wine with our meals. That night they had a beef cheek pasta dish and Bouillabaisse which was paired with one of the BEST red wines I've ever had. It was a Syrah. So delicious. A++ for a date night restaurant.

This place is so cozy and quirky, I loved the details of the restaurant and the hospitality was great. We ordered a good variety of food and they had specials when we came in and they were so good. My favorite was our seafood medley with puff pastry, the sauce and seafood soaked in well and the steak and fries with the green peppercorn sauce was savory and balanced. Service in the restaurant really gave a family vibe and they were so knowledgeable about food and wine. Everyone we interacted with genuinely had such a positive energy and looked like they loved being there and it was refreshing to see. Definitely an underrated spot!

I loved this spot! It's nestled in the outer sunset area just a 5 min walk from ocean beach down the street. The staff were lovely and so helpful, I asked them for recommendations and the chicken liver mousse was perfect! When I went, I only had an Aperol spritz and the mousse but would definitely come again to try more of their menu along with their wines. It's the perfect French bistro vibes in a coastal town. Would highly recommend!

We stopped into Galinette one evening for a glass of wine, some beer, and a bit of dessert. What a great spot! Very European experience; staff was busy and the place was bustling when we arrived. Service was slow until it wasn't and the staff was able to get us into an outside table after 10 - 15 minutes. The only dish we got, pot de creme, was delightful. Would happily come back! The meals coming out of the kitchen looked absolutely fantastic.

When I try new places I tend to order something like Onion Soup to compare and get a sense of the menu This Onion Soup here was one-of-the-best I have ever had. We decided to go with the roasted chicken and it did not disapoint. So good, we ordered as take out! We were warmly greeted and enjoyed the help in choosing a wine and then dessert. We sat outside and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the intersection. When we visit next, we will come back and enjoy!

A cute, casual neighborhood French bistro! I came with two friends to chit chat and catch up over dinner, and it was surprisingly packed on a weekday. Our waiter was very friendly, and I liked that he never rushed us. We shared the escargot with puff pastry and cream of mushroom, which almost disguised the snails. For my entree, I had the P.E.I Mussels Marinière. Such a big bowl was only $21, and the broth was delicious with the white wine and garlic. I'd come back and try their French onion soup and Bourride dishes!

This is the type of casual French cafe you'd expect to see in a quaint village in Bordeaux except I saw a rather pricy Loco Moco on their menu. The presence of this Hawaiian staple gave me momentary pause and reminded me I was in the Outer Sunset. It's been around for over a year, but I noticed it only recently when I took the L MUNI line to 66th and Taraval. There was a very welcoming vibe here with big windows, terrace seating, and a split-level dining room with a communal table in the higher space. I decided to have lunch before embarking on my Sunset Dunes walk. I started with the $4 Arnold Palmer which provided me with the right level of refreshment on an unusually balmy day (Photo 8). I ordered the $13 French Onion Soup, and it didn't disappoint. The country crock arrived with the melted Gruyere cheese still bubbling on top. The baguette was floating helplessly underneath the cheese layer, and the beef broth was full of onions and all the other ingredients that make it a classic (Photo 10). The $16 Lyonnaise Frisée, however, fell short due to the overpowering flavor of the vinaigrette which contained too much red wine vinegar for my taste. I can't lay blame on the frisée, bacon bits, or the poached eggs, all present and accounted for (Photo 9). That left me with a split decision on the food, but I had no complaints about the attentive service. The menu overall is a bit too uniquely appetizing to ignore for too long, so another visit is likely. I think the Steak Frites might be worth trying. Not sure about the Loco Moco. FOOD - 3 stars...a solid French onion soup but a disappointing frisée salade AMBIANCE - 4 stars...vibrant French country SERVICE - 4 stars...friendly and attentive TOTAL - 3 stars...a bit of France, mais oui? The interior of Galinette is so cute! I went there for lunch with a friend on a weekday and was seated right away. Service is friendly and familiar, and the menu is easy to read. One room has a wall of wine and honestly, the decor of the restaurant itself made the lunch more fun than it already was. People watching from the windows was really nice, as well. My heart was set on the french onion soup, and the serving size is perfect for one person. It's oniony, rich, and cheesy! Real nice and warm for an overcast day. My friend ordered the escargot puff pastry for himself, and he said it was nice and creamy, warm, and the puff pastry helped with all of the creamy richness of the dish. We shared wild mushroom medly and the whole roasted air chilled chicken. The mushrooms were buttery and garlicky, so good! And the chicken was cooked perfectly, not a bit of dryness at all on the inside. The green beans had a nice snap to them, which I love in vegetables. Ended up that a whole chicken was WAY too much for just us two, so we split it up and took it home :)

I am currently disabled and unable to travel so my husband and I thought hey, we live in SF, why not look for authentic French food here at home? So we find Galinette on google and decide to try it out. We came in at a weird time (Monday, 2:30pm ) and I felt awkward about it but the staff were really nice! We were greeted by a friendly "Bonjour" when we popped in and they were so great about helping us portion (and even time!) the food since we wanted to try a bunch of things. We got a couple coffees, chicken liver pate, French onion soup and special not-Bouillabaisse seafood soup. I'm not as much of a seafood person as my husband but I loved the mussels. We also got the jambon sandwich to go (for dinner) which I am eating right now as I type. I think this is my first time having French mayonnaise and it is SO good. Everything we had today was delicious and the staff made it a really great experience. Thank you all so much for a great random midday meal! :)

"Smish Smash I was taking a bath, long about a Wednesday night, yeah!!!" Okay I'm no Bobby Darin,…read morebut I am quite the aspiring burger aficionado and the smash burgers being handcrafted at Smish Smash are some of the best and most affordable in the entire city of San Francisco! And when Food & Wine Magazine calls this burger one of the most exciting in the U.S., I for one was implored to take notice and visit! Located on the first floor of Saluhall on Market Street in downtown San Francisco next to the IKEA store, Smish Smash started as a pop-up six years ago by owners Am y Han and Victor Donado. Just last year they opened their first stand-alone location on the first floor of Saluhall, which to be quite honest has struggled to keep their other vendors open. Thankfully, Smish Smash has had the benefit of being on the first floor with a view of Market Street, not to mention a great word of mouth thanks to their exceptional smashed burgers that has not only many burger lovers coming in, but quite the number of delivery drivers coming in to pick up burger orders galore. What brought me here to Smish Smash was the fact that a friend and I had theatre tickets at the nearby Golden Gate Theatre and we decided that we needed something quick and delicious before we walked back to the theatre to sit for almost three hours of a show. They suggested that we try this amazing and fun burger concept that was garnering significant buzz and so meeting up at Saluhall was the way to go as they had complimentary WiFi access and plenty of clean and open seating. The menu at Smish Smash is of course filled with burger options with no fewer than seven on their regular menu and a rotating special menu items including items with chili on them including fries, hot dog, and chili in a bowl, not to mention a couple of extra burgers to boot. Each of their burgers on their regular menu has the option of ordering it as a single or double smash burger. Since it was my first time, I ordered a single version of their Cheeseboiga, which had yellow American cheese, pickles, caramelized onions, and mac sauce. My dining mate ordered a single version of their Wow Burger which was topped with white American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and s2 sauce, which is a combination of mayonnaise and relish, with an order of a side of Curly Fries which were cooked in beef tallow, our total bill was 33 dollars before taxes and gratuity were added in. It wouldn't take too long for our order to be custom made by their team and we enjoyed every last bite while sitting at their communal dining inside the Saluhall. The most noticeable thing that I noticed about the smash burgers at Smish Smash was the fact how thin their smashed burgers were, almost paper like thinness, which made for a unique dining experience. But what was lacking in overall heft of the burger was more than made up in terms of overall juiciness and flavor of my overall burger, of which came out clear on the grease and flavor on my fingertips as I ate every last bite. So good was my experience at Smish Smash that a return visit mere a couple of months later was in order when I attended a show at the nearby Orpheum Theatre. With complimentary WiFi and water available to customers, this time I ordered their Smish Smash Special which was their Dac Biet smash burger which was their signature grass-fed smashed beef topped with white American cheese, sliced onions, jalapeños, cilantro, Thai basil, alfalfa sprouts, lime and pho aioli. This particular smash burger, which cost 16 dollars, was a little on the healthier side as the sprouts, onions, and cilantro overpowered everything, but the flavor profile did make it feel as if I was enjoying a bowl filled with pho noodles with all the fixings. I appreciate what Smish Smash is trying to do, as an up and coming entrepreneurial business from pop-up to permanent business in an area that could seriously use the support, I am all in with what Smish Smash is offering up on a daily basis, good affordable trendy smash burgers that makes burger lovers coming back for more and then some! But surprisingly the stand out was the onion rings - the waffle fries were great too, but I'm not sure what they did to the onion rings they're umami, almost dashi or furikake-esque, and with a perfect crispy batter that doesn't get soggy or fall all off the onion, and the onion inside was perfect, like a soft simmered onion thats sweet and still has just enough firmness without being sharp. Everybody has any reason to say it's a better burger whether it's for the purple onions, pickles , or buns. There is a place which serves the Cali Burger. On a West Portal stroll there is a burger place which sells the Cali Burger. The Cali Burger means fresher ingredients usually locally sourced in California. Calibur is the place to get an organic grass fed burger. I got the double cheese burger with Calibur sauce. It was tasty and it had great flavor along with a soft bun. The fresh grass fed cheese burger pairs well to eat with cheese fries in SF. The fries were crispy and saucy and got a bit messy. Calibur also sells chili cheese dogs along with different flavors of shake including Neapolitan. Overall a good place to fresh grass fed cheese burger on a bun. You can get organic beef that's grass "fed"with Calibur sauce "spread" and a soft fresh bun "bread"although they don't have onion rings or purple onions you can get raw with yellow onions or the onions that are "red" The organic ingredients locally grown under the California "sun" get a grass fed cheeseburger medium or well "done" take a shot with Calibur and I ain't talking about a weapon like a "gun" but get something loaded with beef and cheese on a "bun"

Not sure if the cashier was not paying attention or if it was too big of an order, but a few of our burgers were messed up and missing things that we requested like grilled onions instead of raw and pickles. The burger was manageable. Although the sauces came on the side, the fries were cooked well. As we were eating, a line started to form. But instead of acknowledging them, a guy came out from the back with his hoodie on and focused on packing to-go orders. When he was done, we greeted them at the cashier. He did not look happy at all. It was a good try and it was my fiancee's fave spot once upon a time, but i don't understand what's so good about this place.

I'll be honest, nearly $18 for three tacos gave me pause. But my former roommate swore by these,…read moreand after one order of the Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos, I get it now. Sushi-grade ahi tuna, sliced avocado, green cabbage and cilantro slaw, green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and spicy mayo, all in crispy taco shells. On paper it reads like a fusion experiment that shouldn't work. In practice, it's surprisingly cohesive. The shells held up through delivery, the tuna tasted genuinely fresh, and the spicy mayo brought just enough heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the fish. The avocado was generous too, which is worth calling out since that's exactly the ingredient a lot of places quietly skimp on. Three tacos were substantial. I was surprisingly full. Worth noting: they packaged these in a sturdy cardboard box that kept everything upright and intact. For tacos on DoorDash, that matters more than people think. Ahi tuna tacos aren't something you see every day, and that's the point. This is Gott's leaning into California roadside in the best way: quality sourcing, an unexpected creation, and execution that holds up even on DoorDash. I'm curious enough about the rest of the menu to go back. Four stars, with the caveat that the price-to-portion math only works if the quality is there, and from what I got, it is.

It was a nice day to be in Mission Bay Area as the sun was out after a few days of rain. I stopped…read moreby UCSF PCMB to visit my additional coworkers. We decided to go to lunch at Gott's Roadside. It is my "go-to" spot when I am near the Chase Center! I love their big menus, the "big wordings", colorful deco, and there are lots of seatings in the inside/outside. I always order my usual, the Cali chicken without red onions and Jack cheese. I find it more healthier than the gourmet burgers that they have on the menu. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. They take their time to explain their menu and special. Their all gender bathrooms are always clean and the communal handwashing station are outside of the bathrooms. If you're ever in the Mission Bay Area and thinking of a gourmet burgers and fries or want a quick bite before going to a Warriors game/concert at the Chase Center, don't forget to stop by Gott's Roadside! Pro tip: Order online on their website or on major those food delivery apps for pick up to skip the crazy long lines during game days.
