This is a place where you go to get a good burger and fries in the Valley. Lunch is better than breakfast, I have had breakfast here and it was o.k. but I prefer lunch and now dinner hours. I go to restaurants with a specific thing I want to eat. So when you read my reviews please keep that in mind. Greystoke is like an old 70s looking restaurant. It has a friendly wait staff! It has free lolipops for your kids. They get to know their customers. And it has a crew of regulars for good reason. At lunch it gets busy all week. Mostly retired folks. But they started serving dinner a year ago and nobody knows. This means good service a good burger and no wait time. You can't go wrong with the Burger and my wife loves the Turkey Sandwich. It is not a fine dining experience it's a diner, and one with good food and some great people working in it. Always friendly, never moody. Try the burger with Thousand island and pepperjack cheese! And get the waffle seasoned fries! My daughter age 9 says she would give it 5 stars because the service is so nice and she loves the burgers and waffle fries! She loves the lolipops and there are free refills on the lemonade. And in the evening they even let us turn on American Idol for the kids to watch on the T.V.! My husband and I LOVE this place. It's a perfect little down home neighborhood diner. Food is consistently good, Juan is there most mornings to great you with a warm smile. A great balance of chatting if you're a morning person (like my hubby) and laid back but attentive if you prefer to ease into your morning (like myself ). Don't let the basic menu fool you, they are open to mix up the offerings upon request and always have a great variety of specials. Like in-and out, they kinda have a secret menu of which my husband loves the corned beef Benedict (not on the menu but always available) and whatever I get, I always ask for the homemade salsa!!. From the minute we walked in, we knew eating here was a mistake. First, we came on a weekend, and were the only people under 75. Not a good sign. I ordered a standard bacon and eggs breakfast, which by the way, does not include toast, which is very weird. The eggs, which I ordered over easy, were not cooked properly. One had the yoke completely broken, and the other egg was over well. The potatoes tasted like they had sat there all day. The bacon was burned and completely inedible, and it was painfully obvious that it had been cooked at 7am, and then just sat there. Maybe this is what they serve when you order breakfast at lunch time, but it was absolutely horrible. My husband, ordered a Tilapia Piccata dinner. This again, was very strange, as the menu states that it comes with a choice of soup or salad, and you can order a beverage for $1 more. Evidently, you don't get that at lunch, although the price is the same. Huh?????? If the dish is different at lunch, then your menu should specify that!!! His fish was cold, but the vegetables were steaming, even 10 minutes later....a sure sign they were microwaved. The "Piccata Sauce" was not sauce. There was no sauce on the plate. It tasted like someone just squeezed a lemon on a piece of microwaved fish, and threw on a few capers. I say microwaved fish, because the fish had no evidence of being broiled, pan fried or anything else. There was no browning to it, and it was terribly, terribly dry and overcooked. Funny, but when I told my mother-in-law about the horrible food that we had experienced, she said yes, it's horrible and everything is pre-cooked, and only old people eat there. read more

No frills, just a good diner. I came here today with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I got the 2x2x2 which is a lot of food and she got the salad and half sand which combo with a coffee and OJ which came out to be $25. Pancakes soaked up the syrup which is my favorite and the bacon wasn't overly salty. They also got my eggs right which is a plus. The service was really great and friendly. This is a fixture for hospital and medical staff in the Tarzana area. I always stop by late mornings when I'm rushing to work, or lunch breaks with co-workers. We are very fortunate to have many options to eat in the area; but nothing quite like Greystoke. They always make you feel at home, and they're very quick & accommodating. I was a regular customer of Coco's, formerly located in the same Tarzana strip mall as Greystoke Grill. I've been going to Greystoke occasionally ever since Coco's closed, and have always been disappointed. The food is totally substandard compared to Coco's, and today was the worst. Unfortunately I went there for brunch. My omelette was brown instead of the fluffy golden ones Coco's makes, and the customer service was even worse. The "Specials" board offered $2.00 slices of pie, with a starburst drawn around the offer. So I ordered apple pie with some whipped cream on the side. I was served a plate holding the pie next to which was a small bowl of a liquid creamy substance that was supposed to pass for whipped cream. And I was charged $4.50 on my bill. I questioned it and asked to speak with the manager. After about 10 to 15 minutes, the server came back and told me that the manager was too busy to speak to me. She pointed out some tiny words at the top right edge of the board that explained that the $2.00 pies were only with dinner. These words were way higher up, with a large space between them and the $2.00 offer, and they were about half the size. And they were virtually illegible because of the reflections of bright holiday lights mounted on the edge of the board. I pointed this out. The server's attitude indicated that the misunderstanding was totally my fault, with no responsibility taken for the bad communication on the restaurant's part. And no responsibility was taken for the substandard food. So no adjustment was made to my bill. Bad food (if you can call it food), and bad customer service. I agree with the 8/29/15 review: AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. If only it were possible to give no stars... read more

Today was my first and last time I'll ever go to this place. I ordered a Beef Brisket Dip, and it was the worse I'd ever had. How can you screw up a Beef Dip???? After a couple of bites, I thought about taking it home to my poodle Chloe. I decided not to. It was that horrible, so I threw it out. Money down the drain. HONESTLY, HOW CAN YOU RUIN A BEEF DIP and shoestring fries????? Totally disgusted and a ruined appetite. Yummy in my tummy :). I work close by and often stop in for lunch, I always leave happy and satisfied. My usual is a tuna sandwich on a croissant with all the fixings. There are a bunch of sides to choose from like, salads (potato, egg and macaroni), coleslaw, French fries and fruit I believe. I haven't tried much else but always like the sandwiches. I came here for the first time after a customer told me how good this place was. I honestly hate to say this, I didn't enjoy it at all. I walked in and ordered a Denver omelette. It took 30 mins for my food to come, which I understand due to it being a little busy. However, the food was ok; due to fact it was somewhat tasteless. However, what really led me to write this review; is my server this young lady didn't know how to do her job. I paid my check and left a 25% tip for the lady. I normally tip more anyone who works in any kind of service industry due to the fact I work in it also. She didn't say thank you or anything. Another factor, is that my ice tea was empty; she didn't bother to check on it and refilled other tables. However, what led this not to be a one star; is the middle aged gentlemen. He wasn't my server, however he did do his job well and I complimented him for that. I hate to say this, I do somewhat regret coming here.
