I have been excited about their opening and I was in the area early enough that I had the time to try them out. Luckily, I had a lot of time because it took forever for my breakfast to come. I had one of their benedicts and orderd a third egg to go with it as well as some jalapenos to go with the chorzzo. I didn't think that would slow things down too much, but it must have because it took about 20 minutes for my meal to come. The hollandaise sauce had a bit too much lemon. The chorizzo was over cooked and was more like burnt meat crumbles. The char on the potatoes was excellent. The prices are high for what you get. I will be getting my future benedicts at Yolk a block or two away where the meal will come with potatoes AND fruit. I will try them for lunch sometime, but I am going to wait for them to get their act together. Also, I sat at the booth with a cold breeze bearing down on me for my first 15 minutes or so, until another customer pointed it out and they turned the A/C off and the heater on. thank you kind stranger. I wish that I can give it more than three stars but with my visit there it doesn't deserve more than three. First of all my waiter was having a bad day, he was working a 12 hour shift and he let others know by his demeanor, you can see it on his face and his attitude. Second of all I believe some of the food is overpriced $18 for steak and eggs! when other places have it at a cheaper price. 5.99 for 3 pancakes and 7.99 for 5. I do like the fact that each table has an outlet so you can charge your phones or other portable devices. I had pancakes sausage and eggs. Never been here was my first time experience I'm a retired hospitality individual myself did 14 years. I do have to say the food was not 100% to pare I was feeling for some dessert ordered a slice of French silk pie. Gave it a bite tasted an looked like chocolate jello. Tried to turn it around an take another bite I just could not bare the taste. I told my server I disliked it. She said yeah we get that sometimes. I then ordered some chicken strips they where actually very tasty an with great presentation. Unfortunately the ranch I ordered as a dipping sauce tasted like spoiled milk. Maybe they just have a issue dating dairy products? My server was not as attentive as I would have liked I needed to flag her down for a drink refill at least twice. I am a huge fan of diners, especially diners that are open all night. However, I have to say that the meal I had here was extremely unappealing. I decided to go with a standard breakfast and got my eggs sunny-side up. The eggs were slimy and the sausage had very little taste. When I ordered I asked if I could substitute French Fries for Hash Browns and the waiter said that it would be an issue to do that. Then he returned later to say that he could do the fries, "Just this time" which felt a bit condescending. I understand, rules are rules. The fries were the accordion type fries you can find in the freezer section at the super market. I gave this 3 stars because they are open all night which is a huge plus but I have to say I was not impressed by the food. Breakfast should be a safe bet at any diner but I was disappointed. I tried it once and walked out. I will never look back either. I was moderately hungry and felt the menu items were over priced for what I saw on other people's tables so I settled on the French Onion soup. When it came to me, the soup filled half the tiny bowl and there was a very thinly sliced piece of bread with Parmesan cheese on it. I don't mind paying $5+tax + tip but I do feel I should receive what is described in the menu. Even though Parmesan cheese technically falls under "cheese" 1) it was not melted as the description on the menu lead you to believe and 2) it wasn't guyere either which is what someone who orders French onion soup would expect. I hate to be "that" person but I am frequently. I hailed the waiter and asked if they were out of guyere. I asked why there wasn't any melted cheese at all. He didn't answer me directly but told me that the people in charge order them to have not put melted cheese on it if we ask so the burden of policing the menu is shifted to the customer. How it looked like a good portion of the soup had spilled out of the small bowl as well but I did not want to burden him with to many issues so I stayed with this one and asked, "Why should I double check that I will receive what is described on the menu? If I have to specify that I would like to receive what is described what is the purpose of the menu's description?" He said he can melt "cheese" on it again. I felt bad for him. I told him that perhaps management should make it clear on the menu that we have to ask for it or take it out if the description (or possibly ask if we would like it when it is ordered but to anyone who eats French onion soup you would most likely get odd looks). In the end I thought that the likelihood of me being happy with a half full dish of soup with cheese surprise (and any other surprise for complaining) would not end well so after he took the dish back I stood up and walked out. I also had visions of spit under the cheese because I do not have any faith in humanity, so I got up and left. I walked right out. I do not eat out a lot but when I do I like to get what is described on the menu and not play games. Also, even though it looks like a coffee house have an easy breakfast and check the news place it is not. There wasn't any complementary wifi to use while they wasted my time either. read more

I'm so surprised this place has gotten good reviews by some people. We tried it twice just to give them a second chance , but the food was just not good i agree with some of the posts that the food taste like it was pre frozen. Griddle 24 was reminiscent of Denny's, but with it's own unique menu. I liked the healthy, protein rich option they have of Greek yogurt with fruit, egg whites and gluten free choices. Pricing was proportionate to servings for sure. I was immensely satisfied with the flavor of the food as well as the temperature. Opened 10/10/16, serves breakfast 24 hours. Decor is beautiful. Had one of the spiked milk shakes, the White Russian. It tasted like a regular milkshake (no liquor). Breakfast is their specialty but I had the appetizers which were just OK and the chicken wings were really over cooked. Will go back to try the breakfast which looks delicious. read more

Awful. Just awful. Roast beef wvmashed potatoes served without potatoes. Roast beef ranged from hot to warm to refrigerator cold. Congealed gravy. Unripe fruit. Lukewarm coffee served with artificial creamer. When I complained the server argued with me. Charged full price with no attempt to make it right. I was rooting for this place but I think I'm better off going to Walgreens across the street for a frozen dinner to microwave. I arrived at Griddle 24 on my last day here to enjoy the Windy City in Chicago and decide to try this place being spontaneous. While being seated immediately and provided service right away me and my friends decided to place our order while wanting to start the day off with a refreshing beverage. While we received our drinks I proceeded to try the lemon spike tea that I ordered. Unfortunately the drink wasn't to my liking on the first sip and I requested to have another drink. The waiter who was providing excellent service looked at me in such disgust that I was requesting to have my drink sent back. My drink was watery and tasted like sparkling water. Nothing like the drink I had requested and was told how "delicious " it would be. The waiter took the drink back and moments later the manager who's name is Cindy and is extremely unprofessional and doesn't have an ounce of customer service in her Body brought my drink back and told be I had to drink it because it was already made and that they don't waste liquor here. I proceeded to tell her that my drink was watery and that I would like to order something else. She forcibly told me I had no other option than to pay for it even said somebody else at the table can drink it. Because I'm not confrontational I kept it because it wasn't worth the $10.99 trying to argue with this woman. Please, if you come here don't order any alcohol and please don't engage with Cindy who I believe is the manager because her customer service is unprofessional and I honestly will not be coming back here. Place is a flop... so overpriced for what you get. The menu is seemingly decent prices yet once you get your bill, somehow it's significantly more. Staff doesn't seem to have a set routine, everyone is sort of jumbled around. I live close and have been looking forward to this place opening but man... what a disappointment. We happened upon it around 2:15am after the Cubs won game 7, and were disappointed to learn that they weren't serving boozy milkshakes at that time (they stop serving at 2am). We were seated immediately since it wasn't busy at all (it was a Wednesday night). The service was slow. The food was good, decently priced, and had huge portions! I had the tex mex skillet (sub'd avocado for the chorizo) with a side of pancakes. The skillet was huge and delicious and the side of pancakes was more or less like an entree all in its own. No one actually got pancakes so I don't know how many come in an order, but I had two huge cakes (aka breakfast for the next morning along with half of my skillet). Overall, love that this place is 24 hours and the food is good, especially after a night of drinking. I hope service is better the next time I visit. And, remember... if you're wanting a boozy milkshake, they stop serving alcohol at 2am. read more

The waitperson told me that there is a charge of $1.50 for a cup of hot water (not tea). I order hot water frequently, especially when it's cold outside or inside (a/c). When I asked for a reason from the clerk, who seemed surprised at this charge, the same waitperson came over and defended the charge stating the hot water comes from special equipment. I had ordered hot water each of the 3 times I visited previously, but will no longer patronize an establishment that charges for water. Double thumbs up!! Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The skillet was great and a ton of food. I also had fresh squeezed orange juice. We came back this week and had the lunch. The soup was outstanding and I had the fried chicken sandwich. It also came with steak fries. l could have done without the little plastic thing of cole slaw but the soup alone was worth it. If I had written my review the first time I went here a few weeks ago, it would have gotten 5 stars and rave reviews. Nice decor, pleasant surroundings and superb food and the hostess and female server from Hungary were amazing. So much so, we went back. However, instead of the great service we had previous gotten, we got a rude, sullen and unfriendly waiter with no customer service at all. Disappointed in the experience, we decided not to write the place off as they may have been a fluke. However, when we went back this past Friday night, we were disappointed to get the same waiter who was even worse than the previous time.
