I needed ONE WASHER OF OD EQUAL TO OR LESS THAN THE OD, BUT LARGER THAN THE ID OF THE ALUMINUM TUBE I carried in. OD (washer) (less than or equal to) OD(tube) AND OD (washer) (greater than) ID(tube) ID (center hole of washer) (less than) OD (knot in "tent tube elastic"!!! Note: YELP does not allow algebraic symbols to be used in their reviews. Probably because their software team failed algebra. This is a standard construction "tent tube" system re-used for a display system, whereby the aluminum tubing supports a retractable display. There is a center elastic band similar to those used in tent systems. The washer will prevent the elastic band from retracting. The tube sits in a plastic receiver. English system washer sizes (which I already tried) are too large an OD. I found a metric size which worked perfectly. 99 cents. You decided to mansplain to me that my approach was all wrong. Why? Because I'm a 65 year old female wearing a pink blouse? Let me solve my own engineering problems please. Don't stand there and insist I explain myself to you because you are XY and clearly cannot grasp the solution I've already configured. I just need your hardware. This is a friendly shop, a much calmer experience than Home Depot or Lowe's, and even though they have a smaller total inventory of goods, they meet my needs frequently. Hardware, paints, cleaning supplies, and hoses are some of my more recent purchases. There's always someone close at hand to help you locate what you want, also available for advice that one might need. Parking is always easy and close, and they are located in a shopping center with many of my other stops, including banks, CVS, Ralph's, Jimbos, and a few restaurants. They also send me useful coupons on a fairly regular basis. read more

I went in today for wood filler and wall patch and wasn't sure exactly what I needed but it was all in one place and chuck made sure to come over and assist me with some questions I had on how to apply it, the prices were also great, got great service and choose ace hardware over Home Depot any day. I absolutely love this place. Only Ace seems to know what the exact issues are of the local residents. What common fixtures and hardware are needed for repairs, etc. Compare that to the big hardware/lumber stores and they have next to nothing to repair, only new fixtures that they expect you to replace yours with. Ace let's me repair my house, not replace it bit by bit. Also, the staff are great. I've been going here for just long enough that I don't recall how long that's been. Mid 2000's? I'm surprised to see how much of the staff are the same people that have been helping me since day one but that's part of Ace's charm. They're a family store, run by families, for families. 'm a regular customer at this location. Today after I dropped about $200 on the counter to pay I had to pee. So I asked to use the restroom like I have many times. I was told they have closed the restroom for customer use due to shoplifting. What a slap in the face to regular customers. I'm a senior and when I have to go it's usually urgent. I can imagine other customers have gastrointestinal issues. I left all that stuff on the counter and told I was going to Home Depot. I also them I would never shop there again. I was helped by a very nasty gentleman. I think his name was tony. He couldn't help me find a product that I ended up finding on my own. The store manager should know the store. I also heard him speak in a disrespectful manner to an employee and it made me extremely uncomfortable. The cashiers were very friendly and personable, and all the other staff. A nice young lady named majlinda came to check on me a lot, and that I appreciate. I went here to get multiple copies of 4 keys made. Nearly 20 minutes later, only one key made (2 copies) and a second key (which she said may or may not work). I recommend going elsewhere since there are plenty of places for cheaper and faster. I thought it was going to be quick so I had to pull the plug on getting the rest made. It was a waste of time since I end up having to go elsewhere AND to go back refund the one that didn't end up working. Lesson learned! read more

This location is well designed to get around and get lost... fantastic displays encourage you to linger. If you need something quick, odd or unique, they might have it. Can someone please make Dewitt a part owner or something because that man is seriously SO NICE, SO HELPFUL, SO KNOWLEDGEABLE.... Like my bf and I joke that we hope Dewitt is working when we need something because he has single handled given us the advice, recommendation, tool, you name it 100/100 times. They always have what we need on stock, and the value is unmatched when you have the staff to answer all of your questions correctly. They are also all so nice.... Home Improvement 101 First time here and I needed to replace my toilet tank lever. I figured instead of going to Home Depot which was further from home, I'd come here instead since it's super close to me. I checked their website and found they carried replacement parts that I needed. Located at a shopping center near other restaurants, Ralphs, and my favs: Jimbo's !!! It's a one stop shop location for me !! Love that! Parking is plentiful and can be a hit or miss depending on the day/time. I didn't have a problem Tuesday afternoon. I was greeted right when I walked in and I loved how everything was open, clean, and easily categorized. I didn't have a problem locating the replacement part. There were a few options to choose from and a kind employee took the time to help me find the most compatible match. There were hardly any customers so I was in and out in 10 minutes. I love this Ace! They always have the most random things I need for a project, the people who work there are helpful, nice, and have wonderful insight. I was inspired to write a review today because of the exceptional service. Got in over my head on a project and needed some plexiglass in a weird size to sturdy it up. The associate helped me get the standard size. When I mentioned a plexiglass cutter, they said that they could show me, but would be happy to cut it to size for me. This saved me a good hour of trying to do it on my own (I don't have a lot resources for the larger jobs, lol.) I prefer not to get keys made at the big orange box. My gym is nearby, so I decided to give this place a shot. Parking at this busy shopping center is good, but not great. Came in and was greeted immediately. Told the lady that I needed a key and they dispatched someone back to the key counter right away. On my way to the back, I was impressed with the broad selection available. This place felt more like an OSH or a small home center than a mere hardware store. What I didn't see was lumber, but there was a whole lot of other stuff, even Yeti gear, if that's your thing. After my key was made, I asked the gentleman who made it for me if they had magnetic Hide-A-Key boxes. He suspected that they were in the Automotive aisle. Instead of gesturing in the general direction, he walked me over there and searched until he found it and handed it to me. Prices for both items were quite fair. When we were done, he encouraged me to join their loyalty club which provided me with 20% off most items in the store all weekend...sweet! Great service: just when you thought it was just about dead, it's alive and well here at Ace! So give these guys a shot the next time you're in the area, or even if you're not. The staff here are always willing to help customers find what they need and can give you advice on how to fix whatever you're trying to fix. I've had really great personalized advice from the staff on finding the right screws, getting a garden hose, picking the right watering can, getting central air filters, fixing car keys, etc. Prices are standard and comparable to other hardware stores. The friendly service is really what you get here. They're kid friendly too--if you have kids with you, have them look for the Golden Hammer. It's usually on one of the aisles in the store. When you go up front, if they can tell the cashier where it is, they can get a prize from the prize bin (usually a bouncy ball) ------------TL;DR------------ PROS: friendly staff that are willing to help you find anything CONS: none BOTTOM LINE: if you need help doing something around the house or need to replace a small screw or part to something, the staff here can help you out. I've always preferred the locally owned and operated Ace over the larger hardware stores. I can almost always find what I need and the service is great. This is one of the better Ace locations. In fact, since the Ace in Carlsbad (off Avenida Encinas) closed, this is probably the best Ace in San Diego county. The staff is very knowledgeable. There is always someone in the store who will know something about the project you are working on. From DYI plumbing to selecting a power tool. If the first person doesn't know, they will find the local expert to help. This is a refreshing change from the other chain hardware stores where the staff almost never knows anything about the products and think that doing a Google search is the equivalent of helping. Maybe I don't have any unique hardware-type needs, because everything I have need for my projects I have found at this Ace. he one exception being a good air compressor. The location is a little hidden, around the corner from Ralphs. The one downside with this location is the long trek to the bathroom upstairs. read more

The best Ace store I have been so far. Not only they welcome the customers with coffee and pastries from Panera bread (complimentary), they have also a ver attentive customer service and the store is very spacious, clean and has my favorite section of trinkets, jewelry, nice soaps, and other small good looking goodies. We did not find a certain wire to make a crafts project but the associate recommended us to go to another different store in Escondido, not their own chain, where we surely could find what we needed.
