No, you should have cooks that know how to make what's on your menu! That said, I gave them another chance and last night ordered a wagyu burger that comes with two toppings- $29. I ordered cheddar and mushrooms but when I got it back to my room- no mushrooms! So I called downstairs, as my ankle is sprained and it was an effort to go to the restaurant in the first place,and they came up and got it to bring me a new one made correctly. However, I didn't get a 'new burger' as they literally refired the same burger and put some mushrooms on it! So my medium rare burger was well done, and it could have been anything, but sure was nothing close to resembling wagyu! At this point so tired of their crappy service and food I didn't even bother to complain again as they quite obviously don't care about customer service- or quality! read more

Asparagus was soggy and I presume also microwaved. Overall not a very satisfying or tasty dish for a whopping $38! I love a good kale salad. No really, I'm not kidding! Since opening a year ago inside The Westin SFO, Grill & Vine has made an effort to serve locally sourced healthy(ish) food to their clientele. Instead of focusing on serving large portions to a lot of customers, they instead have a smaller menu with quality ingredients. If you travel a lot for work, you know that it's not always the case with a hotel restaurant. Have you noticed that some kale salads are rough to eat? Yeah, I get that kale falls in the "roughage" category, but it shouldn't scratch your throat on the way down to your belly! Eating a salad shouldn't cause damage to your esophagus. Luckily, the Grill & Vine salad isn't too tough and has a light Cesar dressing. Just enough to make your healthy meal taste good ;) Get it with or without a protein, either way it's tasty. read more

I expected the prices to be on the higher side, being that it's in the W, and at SFO, but I expected the food to match up to the price somewhat. I had the whole-wheat spaghetti in pomodoro sauce, with a grilled chicken breast added to it. The tomato sauce was ok but the spaghetti's texture could have been better. I understand "al dente" and "whole-wheat" but this one was not quite there. The chicken breas was ok. It tasted like what a straight up grilled chicken with hardly any seasoning would taste like (playing it safe to cater to the general tastes, I presume). K had the avocado club sandwich with fries and am told the sandwich was decent. The fries were fine. Another annoyance was when they said they validated our parking tickets (you gotta get out within 10 minutes though, how cheap is that?) but the person at the gate said he couldn't manually validate it as it didn't have a stamp or signature/initial, nor could the automated machine. As guests of the Westin SFO, my husband and I were happy to find a restaurant inside the hotel. One menu had some March Madness specials, all items like hot dogs and sliders, for $9 each. I stuck to the regular menu and ordered only a kale Caesar salad and a bloody Mary. I love a good, spicy bloody Mary. My husband does not. He ordered chips and the same drink as me, but asked for a non-spicy version. His was almost undrinkable. (For him, I mean. I could prob drink pureed habanero juice and not break a sweat). But his was just as spicy as mine, which was on the very warm level. His chips were good though. And my salad was good. I eat a lot of kale and other leafy greens. I really liked the pieces mixed in with the regular lettuce. I guess I expected all kale, but it was nice to have the assorted lettuce. The croutons didn't taste like fresh, house-made ones, but I wasn't sure totally if they were or not and I enjoyed the little guys. Lots of cheese on the salad, but not a very big serving for $12. Loved our stay at the hotel, but we ventured out for all food needs after our visit to their restaurant. read more

While staying at the Westin SF Airport on our last night in Cal-town, we dined at Grill & Vine located in the hotel for convenience. We ordered the Avocado Club Sandwich and, of all things, the Spaghetti (whole wheat pasta of course)...with shrimp. The sandwich was actually loaded with plenty of sliced turkey along with the omnipresent avocado on Sourdough that we found so prevalent in California. It turned out to be a very good value at 16 bills. The 'Spaghet', served with their own Pomodoro sauce, was right there - better than I would have expected at an airport hotel. Served with 4 large skewered shrimp, a familiar plate of good old pasta had been something I had been craving since that first day in Napa. It was right on spot. The thing that stood out here at the Grill & Vine, however, was the service. We had four different hosts/servers check in and touch base with us at our table during the meal - a seldom seen occurrence even at the best restaurants. The team here at the G & V certainly was laser focused on their customer's satisfaction. It is always a nice treat to be surprised with great service rather than trying to get someone's attention to bring the bill. 4 stars. read more

Sadly all the seats were filled and the slowest bartender I have ever seen was already ignoring patrons who had ordered drinks and were trying to wave him down. Running the checks he was slow, handing over drinks he was slow, running people's credit, you guessed it, also slow. After waiting patiently for five or six minutes and seeing no hustle as he went about his motions and unsuccessfully trying to catch the eye of the waitress leaning against the swinging door watching him the whole time, I gave up. I have tried everything from steak frites to pasta primavera to French fries here and have not once ever been disappointed. I stay way too much at the Westin SFO due to work and find myself eating here more often than not. I like this restaurant way better since the remodel. The menu is locally sourced, seasonal and the dishes have gotten more exciting. They've been hit and miss and I tend to order the same dishes when I find a good one. I really like the cobb salad, the turkey club and the brussel sprouts. For dinner Sea bass is delish. Some of their apps are really good and some feels overpriced. The breakfast is the same as other Westin's. They try to push the buffet on you and if you don't take it, be prepared for a longer wait. So just sigh and do the buffet if your time is precious. But overall, I'm a fan of the improvement. And at least now, when someone in our group suggests to "just eat here," no one groans anymore. read more

Came here for dinner today , the staff was friendly and nice. I ordered the grilled salmon for main course and the butterscotch crime pod for dessert. Both were delicious and well made. The salmon was cooked in a teriyaki sauce which was surprisingly different ! Would love to come back and try something else from there menu. read more

Can't wait to try the food next time...the mac and cheese we saw come out looked amazing! We got 2 beers while waiting for our uber, and we sat outside in the lobby like chairs. The host guy was so sweet and brought us a bowl of snacks and napkins while we had our drinks. dthe atmosphere is very upscale hipster chic and I loved it! This is a fine place to eat for a hotel restaurant. I ate dinner here last night. I would have to say it's very typical. Overpriced, but the food was decent. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. The service was a little slow and understaffed. Then again I was eating right at 5PM which is a bit early for most people. They did give free bread which is always exciting. My sandwich tasted totally fine. Nothing to write home about, but not bad by any means. The bread was SUPER buttered for sure. Which was pretty greasy. But what I care about most is the grilled chicken itself. It was grilled really nicely and tasted super moist. The way you want to eat grilled chicken. The fries were typical and unimpressive. Would I eat here again? Yes because it was the only thing close by at the time. But would I recommend it to a friend? Defying all expectations, this is really good food near and airport and located in a hotel--The Westin. You'd think think is two strikes and you'd probably not try Grill and Vine, but it was actually excellent. The restaurant bills itself as casual elegance with SuperfoodsRx from a famous Chef, Werner Frankhaus, and seems to be intended to bring healthy, light fare to a tavern-like restaurant. They seem to have succeeded in the concept. I had the Kale Salad with Salmon which was very good. Im actually impressed that many of the hotels along this strip of the bay have been upping their game. The resto in the Double Tree down the way had fit the bill a few months ago and Grill & Vine is carrying on that modernizing of the hotel restaurant. Came here with an old co worker just to shoot the shit. Got the artichoke spinach dip and the reuben. Both were solid. The dip came with a couple varieties of flatbreads. The reuben had a good balance, meat was of solid quality. Fries with the reuben were perfect. Our server who was also the bartender during the lunch shift was also really amiable and chatted with us about a number of things and took good care of us. I came here Mother's Day weekend with mom and grandma. We easily made a reservation using opentable and were seated immediately. The service was truly attentive - I wish more restaurants took notes. Then again, Grill & Vine *is* inside the Westin, so customer service actually matters. The food itself was good. Not like whoa, but definitely good. I had the pork milanese with isreali couscous. My friend's salmon came with what looked like whipped cream, and my vegan friend found cheese on his portobello sandwich, after requesting none. I don't believe our waters were filled. What put this restaurant over the top for me was how genuine and friendly the service was. The waiters and staff were so welcoming and helpful. Made us feel very comfortable after a long day of traveling. The menu offers just about something for everyone without being too extensive. Burgers, sandwiches, pasta, fish and steak. I ended up here out of necessity, but I was pleasantly surprised! The wine list had a good local selection (although I was wishing for the MacMurray by the glass), food was fresh - not your typical bar/hotel restaurant food and the service was excellent. My flight was cancelled due to weather on the east coast and I was stuck overnight on my way back from a funeral. The bartender instantly got points for pouring my wine in the appropriate glass and only enough to taste, leaving the remainder in a small carafe. The manager was engaging and very attentive. After finding out my situation, he brought me a dessert on the house, which totally made my night after a very long day. I definitely would recommend this place! read more

Not bad. We were staying at the hotel where the restaurant is for a wedding and as the wedding was adult-only, we needed food for the kids. So we called down and ordered some bruschettas to go. The person was very courteous, almost painfully so, but he got my food out to me quickly and off I went. We ended up not eating them that night, but the next morning and they were really good. I wish I remember which ones they were... They had lots of televisions and were very busy; there were lots of people there hanging out and having a good time. Here from out of town and I just gotta say the food was awesome it was cooked perfectly I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it because it just looked so delicious! But on top of that the best experience was not the food surprisingly it was actually the staff! Amazing customer service skill and even though they had just received the lunch rush they where very attentive and made me feel comfortable even though I wasn't in my normal "business attire" they didn't discriminate. After I was done eating I was offered a bar seat to charge my phone and watch tv without having to wait in the boring lobby. So I ordered a beer also why not, then they brought me complimentary chips and dip while I waited maybe not much to some but to me it was just above and beyond these things mean a lot and makes all the difference in repeat business! Decided to check out this restaurant while staying the night at the westin SFO and boy was I impressed, not only was the food incredible, and I do mean incredible, my server Tim was also incredibly friendly and professional, he offered great suggestions and provided such excellent service that it almost outshined the perfectly cooked NY Strip and lobster potato purée which were themselves hauntingly beautiful. I can't stress enough how hospitable the staff is and the food was as good if not better than I could've hoped for, I was taken aback by the quality of this place, it's this hotels best kept secret for sure. The next time you come to San Francisco I highly suggest you make ur way over to the westin for an excellent meal that'll leave u smiling from ear to ear. read more
