New York steak, creamed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, bread with butter, and house red wine

Overall, for the prices of the food there, I wouldn't say it's worth it. Thankfully I had some vouchers for breakfast (otherwise it's like $40 for the buffet). The food was ok overall for breakfast. Good selection of items and the staff are very on top of things with refills and checking in on you. Went there for dinner and I was underwhelmed. Ordered the New York steak and asked for it to be medium rare but it came out more medium to done. The creamed potatoes tasted like box potatoes, not the best version. The Brussel sprouts were not good at all. The house red wasn't terrible though. Server was very nice. I probably would not go back unless it was with a free voucher and I didn't have an option to go somewhere else.

Breakfast is an expensive affair here. Not sure what other hotels charge but I'm sure they're comparable. It's $38 per person for the buffet or you can go Ala carte. We chose the Ala carte as we weren't super hungry and I'm always suspect of the eggs at a buffet. Are they powdered eggs or the real ones? I went with the organic eggs. Over easy with white toast and bacon. He went with the omelet. The breakfast was average. Nothing is rave about but not bad. The potatoes are wedges and didn't taste like frozen. Bacon well fried but not over cooked. Eggs were eggs. Nothing special being organic. They do charge for everything - coffee, juice.. stayed with water. Restaurant well lit and appeared clean. The buss person was nice and came by when we sat down to offer beverages. Server Rez was professional and nice enough to assist. Except for the cost I'd eat breakfast here again.

The ambiance is charming, but the experience lacked cohesion. A lengthy wait to order, a wobbly table, and service that felt unsure set the tone. Unfortunately, the food arrived cold, which was especially disappointing given the setting. Attention to service details and timing would greatly elevate the experience.

Avocado toast with fresh fruit was absolutely delicious. $18 for a fresh, healthy breakfast. Staff was friendly. Highly recommend for breakfast if you're staying at the hotel.

Very nice staff, decent food. About what you'd expect from a hotel restaurant! THE WAIT No wait on a Saturday around noon for 7 of us. FAMILY FRIENDLY They have kids menus and coloring sheets, but they didn't have crayons. The staff dug around and found a pack of brand new crayola markers for the kids! The server recognized our friends who were staying at the hotel for a couple days (she had given them free dessert last time) and were really sweet to us. THE COST $198 total including tax/tip for 3 adult entrees, 3 kid meals, and 3 beers. THE FOOD * Wagyu Burger ($26) - 3 stars Pretty uninspired but not terrible. * Fish & Fritto Misto ($27) - 3 stars Fine, not spectacular, not bad. All around fine.

Great service, good food. My grilled chicken pesto sandwich was great and I'm glad they had gluten free bread option which tasted pretty good! Friendly staff as well!

My absolute favorite Cobb Salad. Loved every minute of this nostalgic visit. 'Nuff said.

    NY steak

Stay away from the NY steak. Putting gravy on a steak should not be encouraged but I understand the attempt at tavern food. However, flavorless and cold gravy should be criminal. Steak was rubbery on its own and also lacked seasoning. Staff were friendly. Restaurant is lucky it has a captive and constantly rotating audience with nothing else close.

The ambiance was really nice. My waiter became crazy busy while I was there. However, he was very attentive and friendly and efficient. I ordered the overindulgent (my opinion only), bacon grilled cheese sourdough sandwich. It was amazing but, too much for me. The toast and crunch on the bread was perfect, the melted cheese was perfect. The flavors were fantastic!

The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and the bartender a mean Old-Fashioned!

    Seafood linguini
    Kari H.

I liked my seafood linguini meal, it was hot and had a delicious taste but they got 2 out of 3 meals slightly wrong with my table. Details matter and they tried to fix it but couldn't quite get the other plates right. We were on a business trip and come here often, the service is nice just needs to be a bit more personable and more accurate with orders, not sure if it was the server or the kitchen The hotel is clean and the dining area and bar are pleasant.

One of the things that happened when I visited this bar was I asked for a simple lemonade. The reason was because I had a soccer game the next day and I didn't want to drink alcohol and I wanted to get some electrolytes in me. It would have been very simple for the bartender to just say, "I'm sorry we don't serve lemonade." Instead what he did is say I worked here 20 years and he never served lemonade and then kept scoffing at me. He kept saying this three times, walking back and forth, up until the point the patron next to me even said, "Don't worry about him." After that without even me talking to him, he said, "Who orders lemonade at an Irish pub?" Then without me saying anything, he said, "No one orders lemonade at an Irish pub." I was honestly just trying to get a drink and he made me feel very dumb. Overall if a patron asks you for a drink, it's very easy just to say, "I'm sorry we can't do that," but he kept making me feel like an idiot. I was also surprised they did not serve lemonade; that's a very simple request. He didn't offer any alternatives except for 7-Up, which I didn't really want but paid for anyway. I ended up not drinking it even after I paid for it and leaving the bar. I guess the bartender got what he wanted. He gave me a drink that was other than lemonade; he made me pay for it and I just left the bar unhappy. I would highly recommend against visiting this establishment, especially with the grumpy bartender. He is an older white Irish guy. I understand they might have your own customers at the bar but I think it costs nothing to treat patrons with respect and not tell them that they're stupid for asking for a drink. Overall I would not recommend this place at all. Very enforced error. Sad!

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!…read more Best vegan food I have ever had in any restaurant in the Bay Area. My mom took me to celebrate my birthday and let me say-- it was the best experience. First of all, the building is absolutely GORGEOUS! Very classy and modern and an all around great vibe. Secondly, service was just as amazing. The ladies at the front were SO welcoming and sweet. Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name, but she's got beautiful curly hair), was so attentive, gave us great recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. Our water and dirty plates were refilled and replaced constantly by other lovely waiters as well. Excellent service!! Now, the FOOD is where it's all at. I am not 100% vegan, but growing up with my mother who is vegan, I've had a fair share of vegan food experiences. I have never eaten vegan food that tasted better than the non-vegan version until now. You will absolutely not miss the dairy and meat at all. My mom and I ate every single thing off of our plates. Absolutely DELICIOUS!! I was so full I could barely walk back to our car! Twelvemonth was a wonderful experience and I cannot wait until I am able to come back and try this place once again.

Incredible vegan brunch and sides, but service was a complete communication disaster…read more Twelvemonth is a beautiful restaurant with an organized, upscale, and luxurious interior feel. I've been here a few times now, and while I usually come for dinner, I recently tried their weekend brunch for the first time; and the food was absolutely delicious! Mimosa: Really good and a great start to the meal. Breakfast Sliders: Perfect ratio; not too much breading, a great amount of sauce, and the vegan meat was packed with flavor. French Toast: Incredibly fluffy, soft, and tasted amazing. Quiche: The texture was spot on, very flavorful, and made even better by the sauce drizzled on top. Dinner Comparison: Having been here for dinner previously, we've realized we vastly prefer their smaller plates over the mains. Their Lumpia Shanghai, Korean Fried Chicken Sliders, Loaded Tater Tots, and Biscuits & Gravy are phenomenal. However, when we tried the main courses like the ramen and risotto, we felt they just weren't as good or flavorful compared to the sides. The Service: Unfortunately, the service on this brunch visit was a complete mess. They sat us at a corner table in an empty area. We waited 10 minutes with no water and no server in sight, so we finally had to wave someone down. The person who helped us wasn't even our assigned server, but she kindly offered to take care of us anyway. After getting our food, we were only visited once; again, by a different worker. Meanwhile, our actual server was actively checking on the table right behind us but completely ignored us until we were practically done eating. Every time we needed plates, the check, or wanted to order more food/drinks, we had to wave down random servers walking past. There was zero communication and it felt like a total disaster. I'm rating Twelvemonth 3 stars after my most recent visit. While their brunch was absolutely amazing; the service this time was a complete disaster. We were sat in the corner booth area and the lack of staff communication was a total mess. This has never happened on my previous two visits, so I'm hoping it was just a one off bad day, but they really need to fix their service coordination over there. Another reason for the 3-star rating is the consistency of the food itself. On past visits, we have found the main courses on their all day dinner menu (like the ramen and risotto) to be totally flavorless. However, their side dishes like the lumpia and Korean fried chicken sliders are great. Stick to the brunch and the dinner sides, skip the dinner mains, and hope you get a better table location than we did. Twelvemonth is a fully vegan restaurant. Everything on the menu is plant based, making it incredibly easy to order without any guesswork.

Octopus, $19 - 5 Stars I really need to stop eating octopus, but when I am in a Greek or Spanish restaurant, I am weak. Grilled octopus legs are soooo good. Their version is grilled just right, not too much char, plus they smartly removed the hardened tips (common) before serving. See photo. Walked into what is clearly a local institution - the kind of place where regulars know the staff's kids' names. Weekday evening crowd skewed silver-haired, which in my experience is always a good omen. These people have been eating out for decades - they know where the bodies are buried and where the good food is. Server was legitimately excellent. Paced the order so apps didn't collide with entrees - a simple move that most places fumble. Checked in without hovering. Knew the menu cold. Then this happened: I asked for a Pliney. He asked, "Elder or Younger?" That's when I had to pause. In all my years of ordering Plineys, no one has ever asked me that. Because no one has ever randomly had Pliney the Younger on tap. These guys did - apparently a locally advertised special that had been going on that day. They had a Keg of this rare stuff, and it was depleting quickly. I got the Younger on repeat till I was barely stumbling out of the place. Life is good. Ordered the Cheesesteak and it was legit - not playing around. The family went burgers, hot dogs, and wings. Zero complaints across the board. Bar fare done right, priced right, with zero pretension. Sometimes the best finds are the ones you didn't plan for.

American Bull is a solid sports bar serving up refreshing drinks and tasty food! This recent trip…read morewas actually my second time here, though the first time feels like forever ago (some time pre-pandemic). LOCATION: Its home is within the Burlingame Plaza, next door to a Lunardi's grocery store. It's located directly across from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center on the corners of Trousdale and El Camino Real. PARKING: There generally is enough parking, though you may have to walk a bit further depending on the time of day and how busy it is. The lot and area seem safe, even at night when other things in the shopping center have closed down. INSIDE: We went on a Sunday evening, around 6pm to watch the Sunday Night Football game. It was actually pretty busy, though there was some bar and highboy seating as well as a couple tables still available. We went with the traditional table because the older we get, the more we appreciate back support. There are TVs EVERYWHERE. Most of the walls are lined with TVs, playing a variety of sports, but mostly whatever's local or the "main game". It's also pretty loud-you're still able to have a conversation amongst a smaller group of people, but you definitely have to be listening intently. There is a lot of cool, mostly local, sports memorabilia. They have a whole Giants corner, in addition to lots of Niners autographed jerseys, helmets, and footballs. There's also a wall with dozens of autographed baseballs. We took some time to look at the names, and noticed the likes of Mickey Mantle, Willie McCovey, and plenty of other Hall of Famers! DRINKS: Their drink menu consists of 10+ white wine, 6 red wine, and 2 sparkling wine options available by the glass or the bottle. They have bottled beer (domestic, imports, and microbrew) and cans (White Claw, High Noon, Wyder's Pear Cider, Ace Joker apple cider, and Guinness). They also have a couple non-alcoholic beer options, and other non-alcoholic options (coffee, tea, Pepsi products, juice, and Arnold Palmers). They also have over a dozen beers on tap, as well as a full bar that can provide shots and likely make most cocktails. Prices for most drinks are actually quite reasonable for the area--on par with a sports bar more than a fancy restaurant. FOOD: Their menu is surprisingly big for what seems to be a shopping center sports bar. For apps, they have a lot of typical bar food options (fries, onion rings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, wings, chicken tenders, sliders, quesadillas, tacos, and even Lumpia). There is a section with half a dozen tasty sounding salads, available in full or half sized portions. There is also a separate section for their chili, which is served in a cup or bowl, with shredded cheese, chopped onion, sour cream, and fresh jalapenos. The sandwich portion of the menu runs 10+ deep with options such as burgers, a patty melt, Philly cheese steak, grilled and Buffalo fried chicken, salmon, BLT, and even a hotdog or polish dog (technically not a sandwich)! The entree section has some bangers too, with items like BBQ ribs, NY steak, grilled or blackened salmon, linguini, chicken parm, ravioli, and meatballs. I love that this section has an Italian flair, and want to come back to try things like the chicken parm! This most recent trip we went with friends and split a few things amongst the groups. I got the patty melt, with a side of chili. The melt was solid, not spectacular. I would have liked the grilled onions cooked a little more. The chili was also good, not great. We got all the accoutrements on the side, which allowed us to try it on its own first, then add as we go. Our friends ordered a Chinese chicken salad, and a burger basket with onion rings. They both finished their meals and noted that they enjoyed them! OVERALL: While this is basically a bar, it's also a restaurant. There were several children under the age of 10 running around screaming that were part of larger groups. Not sure if there's a specific time when minors are no longer allowed? The service was friendly enough, and the bathrooms were clean when we went. This is for sure a great spot to grab a drink, bite to eat, and watch a sports game or 3! IG: @bbnem.eats
