This butcher shop continues to hit every time I show up! I saw a 1 star review of someone hating on their New York steaks and burgers so I just had to see for myself if this review held any weight. It sure as hell DID NOT! The steaks AND the burgers taste AMAZING! The individual called them "tasteless". I think the side effects from Covid done messed up your senses buddy because this meat shop will always be FIRE!!!! This place ain't going ANYWHERE for a long period time!

Can't wait to try these on our next visit.

For you meat lovers, this is the place for steaks, we stop in for our 4th of July celebration and was not disappointed. Selections of cuts are large and fresh. Our selection was NY Strip Steak and T-Bone, excellent choice. Store was well organized, clean, butcher and store personnel were all friendly and professional, great customer service. This is a gem and our new go too for our steaks for any and all occasions. Our steaks were excellent, flavor and texture are perfect, let's just say no one had take home, everyone enjoyed their steaks on 4th of July. Thank you Grill House we are returning customers. See you very soon.

Today was the official grand opening of Grill House Meat Store, and it already feels like a place that's going to become a staple in the Culver City community. While they've quietly been serving locals for about a month, today truly showcased what this shop is all about and it's impressive. From the moment you walk in, the team stands out. Everyone was engaged, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. They were running a grand-opening special where signing up at checkout earned you an extra 20% off your purchase for the day, which was a great bonus and a smart way to welcome new customers. The meat selection is where this place really shines. The case had a strong variety of middle meats and chuck cuts, with grades ranging up to high-choice, including Certified Angus Beef. In the freezer, there were CAB options along with other frozen items that pair perfectly with grilling season. They also carry prime, grass-fed steaks and even a unique selection featuring Snake River Farms Wagyu. Something you don't often see outside of specialty butcher shops. One of the highlights was their dry-aging display. Not only was it beautifully presented, but they clearly labeled the process, showing steaks aging for around 30 days. It's the kind of transparency and craftsmanship that signals they take their work seriously. Beyond meat, they've clearly thought through the full grilling experience. The shelves were stocked with sauces, rubs, and condiments. Everything you'd want for a proper barbecue. I was especially excited to finally find a black seasoning I've been hunting for, and yes, I happily used that 20% discount. There's also room on the shelves for future expansion, which makes it exciting to imagine how this store will grow over time. They even carry grill pellets, Big Green Egg accessories, pizza oven items (with two brands on display), and a very cool camping smoker I'd never seen before. They also offer a small but well-curated selection of produce, items that make sense alongside their meats, not filler. And for dog owners, there's a thoughtful touch: chopped and ground beef available at a reasonable price for your four-legged family members. Outside, they had their own branded food truck serving tacos, burgers, and sliced meats--and everything I tried was delicious. It added a fun, festive feel to the day. While I wasn't able to stay for the mayor of Culver City's appearance at the opening ceremony, the energy and turnout already spoke volumes. All in all, this is one of those rare finds, a true hidden gem that's already strong out of the gate and clearly positioned to get even better with time. I highly recommend stopping by, supporting this local business, and watching it grow along with the community. Best of luck to the Grill House team. I have no doubt you've got a bright future ahead in Culver City.

    Tri Tip and Short Ribs
    Scott J.

Dropped in on the soft launch today December 20th! 'You're customer #2!" (quoting them). Picked up some super fresh short ribs, pancetta, and their house marinated TriTip. The short ribs were tender juicy and soo flavorful. I didn't add anything to them. No salt, no pepper. Just wanted to taste their meat quality and flavor. I must say, they are the best I've ever made. The TriTip was a good size and price, and they gave me a pre-taste of their house marinade. Fresh flavor is an understatement! It's not Texes, way more Santa Maria. The pancetta will be core to the carbonara tonight or tomorrow. if I remember, I will post an update with a pic. With their friendly staff and quality meats, all I can say is sincere and excited--"Welcome to the neighborhood, Grill House!"

Seared, sliced thick, and ready to finish.

I'd heard that Grill House opened recently in Culver City, and that people were saying good things, but I hadn't yet been in to shop. I had a boys' camping trip planned, and wanted ribeye for our last night; but was hoping I could get an uncut roast to cook over an open fire. So I decided to stop in. After describing what I was looking for, they recommended a 10 lb., four bone roast with the ribs cut off, and then tied back on for maximum flavor and convenience. They seemed confident, so I put my trust in them. I also asked if they could pre-season it for me, and they gave me a couple of options. I went with the in-house salt, charcoal & herb blend, and put down a small deposit. I swung by as I was leaving town, and the roast was ready to go, seasoned and vacuum sealed. It looked beautiful. After searing all sides, we pulled the ribs off, sliced the roast THICK, and finished the individual steaks. While they were finishing, we separated the ribs and finished cooking those. Wow! We couldn't wait for the steaks. They did not disappoint. Probably the best steak I've ever had. Even the portions we slightly overcooked were incredible. Worth every penny. I think this may have been my first purchase at a butcher shop. I usually buy at the supermarket or Costco; but even the high-end steaks at Costco don't come close to the quality you will get here. The staff was super friendly, and the store had a great selection of other items. I also bought some Wagyu tallow flour tortillas that were also insanely good. We had those with chorizo and eggs for breakfast. Grill House gets my highest recommendation. I will be shopping here regularly.

Finally they're open, so excited !

A new gem in Culver City and so excited they're finally open! Jonathan made me feel like we've been friends our entire lives and I highly recommend!

The beauty, patiently resting and waiting to come to room temp so she can be cut free and reverse seared.

I've lived in the area where this store is for 11 years. That's 11 years of either getting substandard meat from giant supermarkets, traveling to Whole Foods for better quality or ordering from a meat company. But not anymore. I grew up with a local butcher who knew everybody by name and supplied the neighborhood with the best cuts. That's what this place feels like. Albeit a lot more streamlined. I bought a Tomahawk from John, the head butcher on their opening day. And this is a big deal because I ALWAYS screw meat up in some way. And this has been a grail of mine. John walked me through some steps, some ideas, and then seasoned it for me before wrapping it. I followed his instructions to the letter and when I say this was a restaurant quality steak, I am not overstating it. The cut. The preparation. The steps. They seem to WANT to be the kind of place that know you and want you to succeed. Adding this to the same block as Sorrento, which is precisely that kind of market, is a boon to Sunkist Park and Culver City. The next day I walked over and saw that John had crafted a "Jalapeno Popper" of his design: A jalapeno, stuffed with freshly chopped beef seasoned the same as the 'hawk, wrapped in bacon. I had that for lunch and it was spectacular. so, there's a lot of tradition and a healthy dollop of experimentation. I can't wait til we run out of meat so I can go back.

The produce manager RICARDO was fantastic. He gave me samples of some new produce they had and introduced me to watermelon plums -- I think it's a new variation? Whatever it was, they were fantastic and I never would've tried them by myself so I was so glad Ricardo introduced me to them. I immediately bought a pack because they were so good. Long story short everything I wanted from this experience I got. I really love fruits and vegetables so having a manager help with that process and introduce me to new types of produce was great and honestly a nice touch-- it reminded me of a local market feel as opposed to a superstore chain. The animal was clearly visible in a public area that customers must pass through to enter the store. I immediately went inside to report the matter to management so it could be addressed promptly for the safety and hygiene of customers and the reputation of the store. A store associate relayed the report to the manager. While I was standing outside the management office, I both saw and heard the staff laughing after the associate informed them of the dead rat. The manager then instructed the associate to tell me that he was "in a meeting" and unavailable. No one came out to inspect the situation, remove the rodent, or acknowledge the seriousness of the report in my presence. The presence of a dead rat so close to the entrance of a grocery store is unacceptable and raises legitimate concerns about pest control, sanitation practices, and the overall cleanliness standards at this location. As a customer, I do not consider this a ringing endorsement of the establishment's commitment to food safety or public health. Since the store's management has no interest in the matter, I'm quite certain that the Health Department will.

Any time you see beef with jagged edges and high fat around it, it was either cut but a blind butcher or intentionally done this way to sell you shit at high prices. Also, beef should be red - not light pink, and most of their shelves are filled with light pink garbage. Lastly, when beef has the consistency of playdoh, it is either not the cut they are labeling it as (filet in this case), or it has been frozen and thawed, poorly stored and mishandled during transport along the way. Filet should be a deep ted, cut round (not damn near heart shaped) and firm to the touch. The last 12 visits we have tried and tested their filet - and every time it can be flatted by lightly pushing with your hand. You can literally stretch it like dough. Gross. Disgusting and a complete intentional rip-off. I've heard local news reporters are now working on a story about this, so I hope they expose Trader Joe's as well as this is robbery given the prices of beef these days. We are running out of good grocery options locally. Every major chain has shifted to grifting the consumer and ripping us off at every turn. Do better!
