We wanted a sunset view and asked for a table next to the water. Apparently we could only get a table on the inside of the restaurant. So we asked if those tables in the patio with umbrellas at the deck could be possible and she sat us there. (The decking makes it extremely difficult to see, we had to mostly almost stand or recline like we were in a recliner to see anything) We sat there for 1.5 hours and there were several empty tables within the restaurant by the water and on the area that went over the water which had empty tables which would have been lovely but we weren't offered. Food was fine and service good but the desire to have a lovely sunset atmosphere diminished. read more

This restaurant was just ok in my opinion. The service was good, although the staff had completely ditched their masks just after CDC's announcement on the new mask protocols (which shouldn't apply). It made me a bit nervous. The atmosphere was really nice. We were seated in a covered indoor/outdoor area where we could watch the sunset. As for the food, I've had much better. Everything arrived barely warm, as if it had been poorly reheated or left to sit too long. The calamari and panko breaded shrimp seemed like something that would have come in a bag and not made in house which was a huge disappointment. Tasted good, but poor quality. Best thing I ate was the "chef's vegetables" that came with my meal. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd return. There are better restaurants in the area I'd rather try. read more

Very disappointed. Been here a bunch of times and the service and food are usually outstanding. Left an email - still unanswered from a few days ago. Server tried to repair the kitchens problem. The manager on hand was not the person for the job. We were offered free beer coupons for an Aweful meal - and still expected to pay. Had dinner outside on the intracoastal. Food choices were excellent and tables distanced. All staff wore masks. Be careful with valet parking. We received very attentive service out on the patio area on a chilly February day. They had protective wind shades closed and the heaters on. It was nice and toasty, and the view was great. The waitress was very helpful and the pace of the meal was very relaxed. The food and drinks were good, and shots poured with a generous hand. Although I have eaten here different times, Easter dinner 2022 was my least favorite experience. Therefore I cannot give it five stars. Our reservations were at 4:30 PM. we had a table right at the base of the stairs outside. There was a constant flow of servers and guests up and down the stairs which took away from our conversation. Our server was very new and we could tell it was a long day for her. Later on in the meal, I asked her how long she had been working there and she told us she had been there two months. She had also been there since 8:30 AM that morning.Her casual and exhausted appearance as well as her chewing gum while taking our order was a bit off putting. I do feel she would benefit from more training on the floor as how to take orders, expedite food, and clean up our table, etc. Instead of telling us up front what they were out of, we kept asking for certain items only to find out that they were out of them. they were out of clam chowder, they were out of specific bread choices, etc. we could not deviate from the menu in anyway, or make any substitutions. She made that very clear. A more experienced server would know to make that announcement before we started placing our orders. Now onto our meals. The food is absolutely delicious! I had lamb cooked mid rare. Lamb is my favorite and although it was cooked to near perfection, it was a little mild (bland) for my taste. My mother had the seafood soup which was slopped all along outside of the bowl. That must've happened as they were expediting the food but it did not make for a good presentation. We were also informed that a larger parties order had gone in before ours and I will take another 40 minutes before we would receive out meal. At this point, I did feel sorry for the server as that was not her fault. I also recognize that it is Easter and very busy there. She offered more bread and then didn't bring it. The good news is our meal did not take 40 minutes to come to our table. Everyone enjoyed their meals from the surf and turf to the fish. We ordered bread pudding in one of the chocolate dishes for dessert. Fabulous!!! Our server did bring out some Keylime pie for us as well which was very kind of her. All in all, I would definitely recommend the grill at Riverview. I will simply choose to go again at a less busy time. read more

Put waitress never checked back with us for drinks, food prepared properly etc. poached eggs should not be hard boiled. For the amount that we spent on our meal, we were very disappointed. Service is friendly and fast. Menu us a bit limited but offers nice choices. Brunch is amazing. Fresh fish is usually my choice. Don't miss the soups (gumbo and clam chowder) which are quite good. Best part of this restaurant us the view. The clientele does seem to skew older, but that means we always have a quiet relaxing meal. Very friendly service. Love the prompt response to my glass being empty. Sunday seems to get rave reviews for the bloody mary bar but I haven't tried that. Parking can be a pain. If you end up parking down the street, pop into the United Methodist resale shop. I've found some great steals there. read more

When the filet was served it was so under cooked that it had a heartbeat, it was rubbery and looked as if they just killed the cow and through it on the grill for two seconds, there was zero flavor, no salt and pepper shaker's to even add flavor, the potatoes were cold and pasty, again no flavor, the vegetables were steamed and cold, you guessed it, no flavor. Absolutely a hidden gem in New Smyrna, just before the N. Causeway bridge on the beach side. Top notch service and stunning sunset views. If you're lucky, you'll get to see sailboats coming through the drawbridge and dolphins playing right in front of you. My recommendation: Bacon wrapped scallops for an app, and the lamb chops or fillet for dinner. Excellent location for special occasions. My husband and I went here for a date night while we were on vacation. We were very pleased with our experience. We had a few drinks and appetizers (buffalo chicken tenders and the spinach & crab dip) at the bar during happy hour before moving to a table with a view of the river. Both of the bartenders were super-friendly and all around terrific. For dinner we had the Blackened Mahi Mahi & Pork Tenderloin, both dishes were fantastic.
