I don't want to review the restaurant as much as I want to review a particular sandwich: The Monte Cristo. I was passionate about the Monte at Bennigan's -- I ordered it nearly every single time...and then Bennigan's closed up shop. I was devastated! I tried the Monte at other restaurants; no one got it right by comparison. It was always missing one of the meats or the batter wasn't right or they didn't serve it with the side of preserves. I stopped ordering it, having completely given up hope. And then I stopped in at Griller's and decided I didn't want my usual that day (the chicken quesadilla, which is most DEFINITELY a full meal despite its "appetizer" listing). I browsed the menu, spotted the Monte, read the description and thought, "well, I know they've got great food here -- I'll give it a go." I'm SO glad I did! It looked like a Monte Cristo should look; smelled like a Monte Cristo; had the preserves on the side like a Monte should have. I took a bite and felt like I was back at Bennigan's -- totally in love all over again! When our server popped over to make sure everything was okay (it was an unusually slow evening for them), I told her all about Bennigan's and how this sandwich was one tiny garnish away from being a spitting image: powdered sugar. She immediately disappeared behind the counter and returned moments later with a powdered sugar dispenser and dusted the rest of my sandwich. Oh. My. Heaven! I'm sure this sounds incredibly exaggerated but I shit you not with a single word of it: this sandwich is positively phenomenal. In fact, my fiance is at Griller's RIGHT NOW, as I write this, ordering two Montes to-go for our lunch. Give it a try on your next go; I'm certain you won't be disappointed. read more

I ordered food for myself and my co workers today (5/25/19), we ordered bbq chicken wings, buffalo chicken wrap and a chicken Caesar wrap. The food was the worst. First, the wings were burnt and were not tossed in the bbq sauce. The buffalo wrap was drenched in buffalo sauce and it was sour. The chicken caesar wrap well let's just say the chicken must've been undercooked because it was chewy. When we called, whoever we spoke to was very unprofessional. She said "I'm assuming the food is all gone?" Anyway, she said she couldn't do anything but give us free dessert and even then she wasn't sure how the owners would feel about that. Why would the owner not want to accommodate their customers? I brought the food back to show her that it wasn't "all gone" because to me she was insinuating that I was lying. So I've supported Grillers since it opened good food . 1st the Bad My last few visits haven't been great , today we ordered for pickup we showed up 15 minutes later I guess the ticket didn't print so 10-15 minutes later our order was ready . I ordered Lemon rice soup ( I thought that was soup the lady offered or Baja chicken ) it was neither not bad but barely a hint of lemon I recommend the Steer for a proper lemon rice , the onion rings were a sloppy mess, no sauce (see pics ) the blackened Cajun wrap didn't come with a pickle (3rd time straight , not a big deal but if it's on the menu give me a pickle ) The Good the wrap was great , onion rings sloppy but tasty , The Jamaican Jerk Farfalle with chicken was excellent definitely will order again !!! I'm gonna order again but with the constant mistakes gave 3 instead of 4-5 stars worth checking out !! Came on a rainy day, I found perfect parking and made it in b4 rush hour lunch (table guaranteed). This is a take-out or sit-in type of restaurant, you place your order at the register then receive a number and they'll bring over your food. The menu offered fresh salads, wraps, burgers, soup, and even a Chicago-style hotdog. I ordered the cilantro wrap with 'carne asada' steak, it definitely had its ethnic flare- avocado and jalapenos! and with this wrap I can choose either soup, salad or chips- which are homemade fresh potato chips YUM! The chicken enchilada soup is terrific too. Grillers Inc. has a diner feel, I ordered coffee (which was delicious), and the staff came over a few times to ask if everything was fine and or if I wanted some more coffee. The tables were clean and dry, ready for you to feed. The tv's kept the diners entertained possibly for all the sport teams Chicago has to offer. p.s. The omelette with chorizo and the basic eggs with bacon were both quite good. My one gripe with this place is that their potatoes were not my favorite--kind of bland. The wrap had steak, avocado, peppers, onions, a sauce and cheese, wrapped in a green tortilla. I ordered the homemade chips as my side. They were all crispy and not soggy at all. I stopped by here for a quick bite, as an out-of-towner. After lunch here, I want an excuse to come back! This cute little hole-in-the-wall eatery was a pleasant surprise. I saw lots of delicious looking pasta dishes, and I was shocked at how awesome a deal this place is. I judge restaurants based on their Ranch dressing, and theirs was aweosme ha! I really like this place. Every time I come here the food is always delicious. I usually get pasta because it really is that good. They cook the pasta perfectly and the sauces they use are bursting with flavor. The cooks really know what they're doing. The service is quick and friendly too. This place is a gem in the heart of Whiting,IN. I like the area because the downtown feel has a small family cozy feel to it. So to have great restaurants like this one makes it that much better. Parking is sometimes hard to find but eventually you'll find something. They also have the best tater tots! Crispy brown tots that bring me back to my child hood days! The sweet potatoes fries are good as well. Sometimes I order a side of this just to snack on later. This place is worth coming to visit. read more
