We loved everything about this place! Ben, our server, what can I say; spectacular! He was so excited that it was our first time and walked us through the whole menu, gave us suggestions and was so fun to just chat with. He was busy, section was full and still took time to b.s with us and genuinely cared. Food- WOW! We had the Caesar salad and antipasto to start. The Caesar dressing is homemade and the antipasto platter with the bread is absolutely delicious. The bread is so good by itself and even better with the toppings on it with some olive oil. We had The Don pizza and added ricotta. Sooo good, rich and creamy and cooked perfect. Everyone was nice, the restaurant was hopping and we can't wait to go back! Ordered a pizza on Sunday night through Uber Eats at 734 pm. I did not get it until 940 pm it was horrible. Very hard as though it sat out all night. I called a store that I thought it was and spoke to Tom who tried to assist and said he would refund my 33 dollars. Talking to him he couldn't locate it in his system so I looked at the order again and it was the one in the Quarry. Called and spoke to Garret he advised I had to contact Uber Eats. Was looking for a pizza spot to come to and we decided on Grimaldi's, I hadn't been here in a really long time but I remember the pizza being good, so we decided to give it a try. I had higher expectations honestly, it wasn't necessarily bad but I don't think it was the best. For some reason the sausage tasted kind of off, and the bruschetta wasn't all that great either. Food - Great. Service - Not so great. Came here for dinner on a Saturday around 8pm. The host was not very friendly and was saying things to us really low while looking away from us. We needed to ask 3 times what was said because we could not hear her. When we were seated, it took about 10 minutes for our server to come over and ask us if we wanted anything to drink. The pizza took about 15-20 minutes to finally get to our table and we were not checked on once during that time. When the food finally got to the table, we did not see our server for the rest of the time. We had to flag down another server to finally get the check. I really wanted to enjoy this meal, but unfortunately it missed the mark especially for the price. We ordered an 18" pizza, half pepperoni and black olives and half pepperoni with hot honey. The pizza arrived overcooked and lacked flavor overall. The cheese was hardened, not melted. The crust was overly crisp, and the toppings didn't stand out the way you'd expect. To make matters worse, the total came to just over $40 for the pizza and one soda. The soda itself tasted very watered down, which only added to the disappointment. Came for lunch with the wife and a friend. We were sat down very quickly and got attended to. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure our questions were answered and drinks filled. Had a miserable experience. To start, the food was excellent and the service was good. What made the experience miserable? Being convinced to sit outside. When we arrived with a large party, the hostess recommended we sit outside. We commented on the heat and we were told that the outside area was covered and had fans. She assured us it was very pleasant outside. It was most definitely not. The weather was hot and humid. The covering is so old and worn that it does not provide significant shading from the sun. Also, only one of the fans worked and it was not located near us. After sitting for about five minutes, I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes. Our table was right on top of a trench drain and looking down into it you could see the swarms of mosquitos. I asked if we could be moved and the receptionist did not seem at all receptive to the idea and told us it would be 1.5 hour wait. So we stayed and hated the experience. The pizza is good, as long as it doesn't have hair in it, but it is not cheap. It is very expensive as far as pizza goes, so it is a shame that we spent a lot of money for a miserable experience. Do I recommend going? Yes, but under no circumstances should you let them gaslight you I to sitting outside. read more

I love the thin crust -it's mighty tasty! The red sauce is just right, not too sweet, and the cheese is perfectly ooey-gooey without being overdone. The staff and service were excellent, and the atmosphere was surprisingly pleasant. Given the high, unfinished ceilings, I expected it to be unbearably loud, but it wasn't. My only complaint is that the toppings could be spread a bit more evenly. Some sections were lacking, but I get it--pizza making is more of an art than a science. We even tried to order online just to see if there would be a difference however the wait time just for our food was even longer. We ordered a pizza at six and the estimated time for pick up was going to be 845. I remember I called the restaurant and I asked them if this was accurate, and they said yes. Luckily, I was issued a refund. I really like the feeling of this restaurant however service is always lacking. I arrived to Grimaldi's to order a medium pepperoni pizza with extra cheese , a small house salad with ranch dressing, a small Sierra Mist and a cannoli to go. I paid upfront at the counter and was told that it would be ready in about 45 minutes. No biggie, not that long of a wait. So I decided to kill some time browsing around at the Trader Joe's nearby. Once I finished that, I went to go to my car to wait for a text or a call that my food was ready. Here's where things went wrong. By the time was up, I didn't get neither a text or a call that my order was ready so I went inside to show the hostess my receipt and my order had been ready. I asked her why I didn't get a call or a text and she said that they don't do that. Then the other hostess was struggling trying to find a straw for my soda. This location is the closest to me but also the worst at online orders. I recommend just going to eat in person here and moving forward I will not order online. Online I set my pizza order for ASAP which said it would be 2 hours to make it and pick up. Which I don't mind because I truly enjoy their pizza. But the last two times, it's been horrible. It was a good pizza, but I have to downgrade my rating from "good" to "okay". Let me explain. I was craving pizza, and Grimaldi's was calling my name. I was looking up restaurants at the Alamo Quarry Market, and Grimaldi's had a location just on the other side of Basse. I was taking a walk around that other shopping center, called Quarry Village, before making my way to Grimaldi's. I saw a sign that said Grimaldi's To-Go, indicating that takeout orders were to be done at the counter below, which is where the bar is situated. Seems a little odd to be having the bartenders do double duty, attending to the patrons at the bar and serving the customers ordering to go. The line there was a little confusing because there was also a sign at the counter saying "Order & Pick Up To-Go", and there were two customers on either side of the counter. There was another customer standing behind one of those two customers, so it wasn't clear to me what they were in line for. Did one customer order and two were placing their orders? Did all three actually place their orders online, and they were waiting to pick them up? Another customer stepped in the longer line, and it made me think I should have stepped in that line instead. So I basically lost one position in line due to this confusion. Didn't waste much time, but still a little annoying. What was also annoying was that the menu wasn't posted at the To-Go counter. There was one on a window, so I had to take a photo of it before stepping in line. That way, I could study the menu, but it didn't tell me what exactly a traditional pizza is. Did it come with any toppings? As it turns out, no. It's not like MOD Pizza, Blaze Pizza, or Pieology where you can get unlimited toppings at no additional charge. At Grimaldi's, all toppings are an upcharge, and they vary from $2 to $5. Veggie toppings are more likely to be $2, but meat toppings are more likely to be $4. Anyways, I ordered the 12" Traditional Pizza with Italian Sausage and Green Peppers. The pizza base is $14, so I was looking at a $20 pizza with the upcharges from the toppings. Ilan (sp?), the bartender who took my order, asked for my first name, phone number, and then my last initial. First name, understandable. Phone number could be understandable until he told me Grimaldi's wouldn't text me when my order was ready, but he was happy enough to give me a call. But the last initial? Why? So they can tie orders to Yelpers like myself? lol Anyways, I took another walk around Quarry Village and just so happened to be standing close to Grimaldi's that when Ilan gave me the call that my pizza was ready to be picked up, I told him I'd be there in 5 seconds lol. After he gave me my pizza, he also offered crushed red peppers and parmesan cheese, which of course I happily accepted. When I returned to my hotel, I took out the box, but it looked like a cheese pizza with blobs of meatballs and red sauce scattered about. Where were the green peppers? I thought they would have been longer slices, but they were actually diced. Also, they skimped on the green peppers. I know it was only a $2 upcharge, but that was like 50 cents worth of green peppers right there. There was plenty more Italian Sausage, but hard to say if it really was $4 worth of Italian Sausage on my pizza. I enjoyed the thin Brooklyn-style crust of the pizza, but the crust was burnt in some places, making the $20+ pizza not so pleasant to eat at times. Also, some of the cheese peeled off of one of the last two slices as I was separating them. I'm not sure how that happened, but maybe the pizza wasn't cut that well? Overall, it was a good pizza, but I doubt it's the best Brooklyn style pizza in San Antonio, especially for the price point of the base pizza as well as the individual toppings. It would be cool if they opened a location in California, where I'm from, but I won't be rushing to try it again if they do. read more

grimaldi's pizza stone oak location really dropped the ball today! this is the third time i've gone in there. and the pizza is so dry as they have reduced the sauce on the pizza to next to nothing. the table next to me asked for additional sauce and was trying to spread it onto their already cooked pizza because they were talking about how dry it was. i ordered a white garlic with jalapenos, so there isn't any red sauce on it, but rather white sauce and it was bone dry and the cheese was nonexistent. i remember in years past, how the cheese was thick and gooey, and that's just not happening today. why did the prices keep going up and the ingredients used and quality of the pie keep going down?!!! this was a major disappointment. read more

We tried to reserve a table through their website and it wasn't working. Luckily, we were seated right away but it was a Tuesday night. I ordered a watermelon Italian soda and the first one had barely any syrup. It was more like a seltzer. The second one had enough syrup, but they are $4.50 each so I got charged nine dollars for soda water and syrup. The salads were delicious, but they didn't have a strawberry spinach salad. They didn't have the strawberries for it but they still charge me for the strawberry spinach salad, even though we had to change it to a lemon arugula salad. The $12 salad is the only reason I would go back it was delicious but I'm not sure to pay $12 because other places have $12 salads with the fruit that I wanted. We ordered a Brooklyn bridge calzone and she charged me eight dollars extra. $4 for red peppers and $4 for sausage. We all know a calzone is just equivalent of a pizza folded over. I don't know why I was charged half the price of the calzone in toppings. This is a review for their lunch. First thing you notice is the pungent cheese smell as soon as you open the front door. You're greeted with NY style jazz, think Frank Sinatra. I've came here with work peeps and split a $28 pizza which can easily be split between 3 people. They do take their time but that's pretty typical for the style of pizza you're getting. It is a bit pricey for the amount of food you're getting. I can see why people complain about the price, especially if coming solo or with a date. The flavors are definitely there. Come check it out but don't be prepared to be blown away. read more
