Poke bowl with salmon, tuna, scallops, spicy mayo and garlic ponzu
Gary S.

It's been a while since I've had poke. Decided to give this spot a try. They had all the fixings and sauces for you to choose from. All the seafood was super fresh. Sauces were amazing. They even had spam musubi. Staff was very friendly and fast putting together the poke bowls. Will definitely come back

Loved this place, been coming here since opening 4 years ago under a different name. Now I'm not quite sure. Today was especially bad. Horrible customer service, all new people that didn't know what they were doing. Portion sizes also shrunk significantly. Rewards system is a scam also. Several times when I was close to a freebie my points disappear. Happened this time also when I knew I was close to a large one it said I have no points available. When I asked for two scoop of albacore, the container barely had any and the guy had scraped it up claiming it was two scoops when you can tell it can only fit as one scoop. Furthermore, asked if they had any avocado left, they didn't even check they just said no. Lastly the pineapple dole whip float. The guy hesitated when we asked if we can have one, and this is what comes out of it. A float is supposed to be in a cup, we got served this in a bowl. Went in again and asked if this was right since we can't even drink out of it. The guy remakes it in another bowl! And just hands us the pineapple juice to do it ourselves with no lid or utensils.

Large Poke Bowl

This poke bowl SATISFIED my cravings! I ordered a white/brown rice bowl with salmon, tuna, and scallops mixed with their house and unagi sauce. Although the scoops of protein and toppings felt plentiful and delicious, I felt like the server was being very frugal with their rice, especially for a large bowl. I ended up finishing the rice with lots of toppings left but I can't complain about leftovers :) This Poke spot is nestled in the Vons shopping center in Monrovia (Grindz offers $4 coupons for purchases at least $16 on Vons receipts). After using the coupon, my total came out to $14ish which is a reasonable for 5 scoops of protein.

We just moved to Monrovia not too long ago. Compared to all the poke places we have had over the course of a couple year. This place definitely smacks. Service: - they were patient with us. It takes us some time to decide what protein, what add on, and sauces we want. - they had new employees and they were all generally nice and awesome. Good job to their management team on their staff. Fish choices: - They didn't have a lot of fish options, but they do deliver on the quality of their salmon and tuna. Overall, we have came back multiple times over the course of 2 weeks as we are trying to have a healthier lifestyle. Great fish! Great Poke! Recommend all residences in Monrovia fo try this place out.

Medium Bowl - 3 Scoops

This is my go-to spot for poke in Monrovia! The fish is always fresh and staff are super generous with the toppings/sauces. I highly recommend ordering a medium bowl- it's pretty filling. The house sauce, crunchy garlic sauce, and eel sauces are my favorite for bowls! The prices are a bit high here, but definitely worth it if you're craving a quick and fresh poke place!

HUGE Large Bowl - 5 Scoops FOR LESS THAN $20

Large bowl (5 scoops) was less than $20!!! It is huge ok and I eat a lot! The dude that works Friday afternoon asked me a lot of questions to make sure I got the bowl of my dreams! 10 out of 10 recommend

First time trying Grindz and it did not disappoint! I got the medium bowl (3 scoops of protein) and it was huge--easily two full meals for me. I loved that they didn't charge extra for all the toppings I asked for. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. Tons of texture too from the crispy toppings, such as seaweed salad, cucumbers, edamame, and pickled ginger. Workers were also super friendly even though I felt like I asked for everything haha. If you're in the area and craving poke, this place is a solid pick.

Food is always fresh and tasty! This place never disappoints and the portions in my opinion are huge compared to other franchises in the neighborhood. My kids love it and they have dole whip! If you can't make it to Disneyland, come here for your dole whip fix

Jasmin A.

This place has amazing poke! The portions are great and everything tasted so fresh. The three protein I picked: spicy tuna, salmon, and shrimp. I love that you can also add the crab meat!

We got a chance to speak with the staff and we're told Grindz has been open for 7 years now. It's in the same plaza as the Vons, Mooyah and TK Cafe. I was craving poke and stumbled across this poke location. When you walk inside, the interior is very simple and clean. We were immediately greeted by staff who asked if this was our first time. He gave us a quick intro on what was available and how to order. You pick your choice & amount/type of protein. The cost varies and for extra protein, it's $2 more. There's a good variety of toppings and sauces. Everything tasted fresh and the crunchy onion gave it a nice texture. They were very good sized portions and I left in a food coma. Food ordered: one bowl with ahi tuna, albacore and shrimp + another bowl with albacore, salmon and tako. Our toppings varied, but the seaweed is always good with poke or rice. The fish tasted fresh and not too chewy. Drink: green tea with lychee (it's the Hawaiian Sun brand)

Medium bowl is a good size

Came here for lunch after a hike. The food was decently priced and the size was pretty big too! We got the dole whip float which was dole whip plus pineapple juice! It was so good! I would come back just for that! Also the staff were very nice!

Small Poke This poke was 14 bucks, no fish at all
Geomar R.

Tasted good tho, very small and not worth 14 bucks more rice than anything. Nice clean place but they should add more fish and portions of other sides should be more

I love this place. Best poke place in the area. The price is really good for how much they serve you compared to other places. Been coming here for the past year and never fails :)

TK Cafe has thoroughly impressed me off first impression, and if I was closer, I'd probably be a regular here. For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

This is a solid spot in Arcadia if you're craving katsu.

Top Restaurant is…read moretucked into a small, rundown shopping center on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena and from the outside you'd never guess what's waiting inside. This is my third visit and every single time it delivers. This is an Indonesian/Hawaiian restaurant -- and a seriously impressive one. The menu spans both worlds, and no matter which direction you go, you're in for something special. Take out only, no tables, but trust me -- you won't care. The 4 Piece Indonesian Fried Chicken with rice is an absolute must. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The crust is insanely crispy, the seasoning is perfect, and the Indonesian dipping sauce ties it all together in a way that's completely unique. This alone is worth the drive. The Hawaiian plates are equally impressive. The short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the beef and chicken were perfectly marinated -- sweet, savory, and deeply flavorful. Everything comes with rice and a creamy mac salad, and the Hawaiian Sun drinks (Mango Orange and Strawberry Lilikoi) are the perfect companion to wash it all down. Plates run between $16-$20 but the portions are generous and the quality is exceptional -- you absolutely get your money's worth. The owner and cook are extraordinarily welcoming, and everything comes out hot and fresh every single time. Top Restaurant is a hidden gem of the highest order. If you're in Pasadena, make the trip.

From the photos and reviews, the place…read morelooked pretty run-down, so I figured it might just be one of those local hidden-gem type spots. Even after arriving, I almost changed my mind about ordering because the plaza itself looked very old and rough. I brought my girlfriend with me, and she was actually the one who said that since we were already there, we might as well try it. The restaurant is basically takeout only, and the inside is very simple and worn down. That said, the person taking our order was extremely friendly, which made the experience much better right away. After checking Yelp, I decided to order the Indonesian fried rice, BBQ chicken, and fried chicken. The fried rice was easily the highlight. I got it spicy, and it had a nice kick that made it feel more special. I'm not sure if this is part of the Indonesian style, but there were little bits of noodles mixed into the fried rice, which made it unique and really tasty. It also had a generous amount of meat inside, and the portion was huge. It was probably one of the best fried rice dishes I've had recently. The BBQ chicken was solid too. It had that tasty Hawaiian-style plate lunch feel, came with mac salad, and was seasoned well. The fried chicken was a little mixed for me. The crispy outside was good, but the chicken itself had a slight off taste, like it didn't feel as fresh as I hoped. Not terrible, but definitely not my favorite item. Overall, Top Restaurant surprised me in a good way. The place itself is very no-frills, but the fried rice alone makes it worth coming back. I'd definitely return for that.
