We used to love going here and sitting at the bar area. They started changing out bartenders and service went down hill. They have one bartender that is on the ball now and that is Luis. We sit down and he knows our drinks and our glasses are never empty. We get our food just the way we order it not what the bartender thinks we said. We went for my birthday and we were the only ones at the bar and I sat with a empty glass 15 min. So Disappointed! If they would keep a small amount of bartenders that get to know the customers they would so have a great turnaround. So disappointed in Gringos! I ordered the southwest egg rolls and they forgot to give me the Amazon sauce with it. Not only that but the egg rolls were super soggy. We moved here from Illinois, leaving our favorite independent Mexican Restaurant. We tried several here and everyone kept pushing us to try Gringo's but we don't typically like chain restaurants. Well this place does it right. The best top shelf frozen margarita I have had ever. They even put in a shot if Sangria to jazz it up. The staff is in top of it. This used to be our favorite restaurant to go to for enchiladas. We've always come here as it is only 5 minutes from our house. However, I will no longer be going back! I tried the Southwest Hatch Chile Enchiladas for the first time yesterday and they were okay, I wish I would have sticked with my regular enchiladas. The main issue was that I had food poisoning that night. I missed work today because of this. Overall, extremely disappointed that this happened here. By far the worst manager I have ever come across and the food was not that good. I order a combination meal & requested a substitution for the pork tamale because I do not eat pork. My waiter explained to me that his manager Armando Luna told to him that if I wanted a substitution then I would need to pay anywhere from .30 - $1.99 even replacing it with a simple crunchy taco was adding to the cost. I felt that was ridiculous being that I cannot eat pork and I wanted the combo because it gave me the opportunity to try 4 different items. I requested to speak to Mr Luna & he came to our table with already an attitude & with a ready to argue me down approach. I explained my situation & he basically said that corporate wouldn't let him change things without charging me extra, it wouldn't be fair to the kitchen because they line plates up & it would mess up their order (sounds like they don't custom order for anyone then) not to mention it wouldn't be fair to do that only for me & not others. I explained to him that it was my 1st time visiting & he said he would ALLOW me this ONE TIME substitution but just know that NOT TO EXPECT IT AGAIN AT THE NEXT VISIT OR ANY AFTER. I told him that because of what he just said then there wouldn't be a next time. I finally accepted to follow his so called corporate rules & agreed for another simple cheese enchilada even though my plate already came with one. We received our meals & it was not that good. My fajita meat had a lot of fat (hard to even chew) & my cheese enchilada was bland....the sauce tasted like if it came straight out of a can & just drenched over the enchiladas. My daughter's combination meal wasn't good either. Her chicken enchilada was too bland to eat & our rice had no flavor. I explained to my waiter that the food was not good especially my plate..... then happy Armando Luna manager came back to interrogate me about my dislike for the enchiladas. He had to know why exactly I didn't like them. Explained why.....then he had the nerve to tell me that "THEN NEXT TIME I KNOW NOT TO ORDER THIS MEAL AGAIN".....I was seeing red by the end of that statement & told him that for certain there would never be a next time & he told me that it was up to me (while he shrugged off his shoulders & walked off). Originally we were at Chilis. We waited and then decided to leave. It was lunchtime and there was no excuse for the inattention. We pulled into gringos parking lot and grimaced at the thought of a long wait. The parking lot was jammed. We were pleasantly surprised. Seated immediately. Chips and salsa arrived within seconds followed quickly by our waiter Andres. He was young but a rockstar. He will go far in life. He was personable and knowledgeable. Gave great attentive service and suggestions. We kept commenting on "how good" he was. He was just the right amount of everything. Not too bothersome but attentive to our needs. We were in and out and i am certain we would have still been sitting at Chilis waiting for someone to realize we were even there. We took the time to seek out the manager Aaron who agreed with our assessment of Andres and im sure was happy to hear positive comments. Our lunch date was perfect. Oh yeah. The food was hot and warm and tasty too. It was almost secondary as we enjoyed the perfect customer service more:). read more

Got in an accident on my way to pick up my food. Let the restaurant know, they told me they couldn't issue refunds on online orders but they were gracious enough to offer to remake my food - I thought this was fine although I didn't even want the food anymore. Like I just got in an accident, I'm not thinking about food! When I finally got my food, I realized it was cold thus not remade. To add insult to injury, I was missing items from my order. She came by took our drink order (2 waters) and that was delivered in about 10 minutes at which time she took our food order. My daughter ordered the Mariachi combo and I ordered the Diablo Chicken around 2:41 - I made sure to note the time. About 10 minutes of waiting on our food, 2 Hispanic ladies and a little girl were seated in the booth to our right (interior side). Another 10 minutes later, a white family of 4 were seated at the table directly to our left. And after another 15 minutes, a white family of 6 were seated at the booth across from us by the emergency door. Just to clarify, I am Asian. The white family seated in the table to our left received their food within 15 minutes of being seated. My daughter and I were still waiting on our food which we had ordered BEFORE this family was seated. Then the white family seated in the booth by the emergency door received their food. I and my daughter were still waiting for our food (25 minutes from time we ordered). Our food FINALLY shows up. Mind you we were hungry before we arrived and got a table so waiting almost 45 minutes, we went through 2 bowls of chips and salsa. Then I noticed a server going to the table with the Hispanic ladies and their little girl to TAKE their order - they had been waiting at least 30 minutes just to place their food order. You can't go wrong with eating at Gringos, the food is very good, I love the pollo marisco it's so good, I get it everytime, I also recommend getting the citrus tea, it has a great flavor to it, and you get free refills with it. There flour tortillas are very good too. When choosing what beans you want with your meal, go for the charro beans. You can't go wrong with them. There green sauce for the chips is incredible too. Don't be scared to ask for more when you run out. My only real complaint is the wait for dinner can get pretty long, upwards of an hour. So plan on waiting during peak hours. Thank you read more

Just an update to let everybody know that I messaged my email address to Heather over two weeks ago and have not heard back from anybody at Gringo's. While I applaud her effort to reach out to me about the substandard experience I had I think it should be noted that whomever received my contact information was apparently less interested in addressing my concerns then she was. Given the level of service and food quality I experienced on my visit I can hardly say I'm surprised. Hah the day after I posted this I was contacted and two gift certificates arrived in the mail with in two days of contact. I haven't had a chance to go back yet but when I do I will be sure to update this review. Thank you for getting back to me Gringo's. If you come here, you should already know that you are eating at a chain Mexican restaurant, and therefore are making some sacrifices over eating at an independently-owned restaurant, namely that everything probably is not homemade. With that said, this is probably one of the most decent and consistent chain Mexican restaurant experiences I have had. This is my go-to place in Rosenberg, as the food is always good. The wait staff is also always kind, attentive, and seem to enjoy their jobs, and working as a team. You can tell that the staff is happy because many have been there over a long period of time. Thank you Gringo's for bringing some decent food, and a nice environment to the area. Oh, and the margaritas definitely do not hurt this review. The main disappointment is that they close so early (9:30), but I am sure that is on par for the area, and it would not be lucrative for them to be open much later, so I do understand. read more

Something has changed here. We just received the best service ever in the Houston area. Our waiter was friendly but not chummy, there when we needed him and not there when we didn't. (That's all we ask, but it's hard to get around here.) And from appearances everyone was getting the same high level of service. Food was OK (*just* OK - that's why just four stars), and their sanitation rating is up to an "A." Plato Rosita - small amount of guacamole, tostada a little light on the beans, cheese enchiladas pretty plain vanilla, rice hardly seasoned, black beans the best part. Queso pretty good, served cutey in a tortilla bowl. Flour tortillas just OK - nice texture, not too much taste. Get there early - we arrived just before 5PM, just in time to see the hordes rush in. This made the place *very* loud, but at least the people seemed to have some class (not always true around here - see my review of Olive Garden). Prices wonderful, at least at the time we were there - I guess it was happy hour. House frozen margarita with a shot of Gran Marnier for $5 - wow! They were good margaritas, too. Even with a donation for St. Jude, our bill came out to considerably less than usual for us in a Mexican restaurant. So we were able to throw a lot of money at our waiter in gratitude! I sure hope this change is permanent and consistent. This place will get a lot of my money if so. read more

We got to Gringo's around 2:45 sat us down right away 3:00 & still no one had came to get our drink order we had to ask another waiter who was our waiter he says she will be right with you she is at the bar finally around 3:05 she comes over & takes our drink order & we decided to go ahead & put our food order by that time a party of 6 had sat down 2 tables down from us & there were only 3 of us it was 3:30 - 3:35 & we still hadn't gotten our food while the party of 6 had already gotten there food while we were still waiting they had already brought us two baskets of chips & they had filled our glasses twice with no explanation why our food was taking so long & they weren't even busy , just know we will not be going to Gringo's in Rosenberg again !!!!! read more

First visit to Gringo's was great. Me and my wife were looking for some local places since we moved to Rosenberg. We really enjoyed every part of the night. We went around 5:30p and there was no wait. Our waitress was sweet and helped us very quickly. Our food came out super fast and was hot and everything looked fresh. The chips and queso were very good and very fresh. I had the fish tacos and it was grilled very well and was flavorful -- not fishy! At the end of our time they asked if they could box up our left overs. A small thing but made it feel like a nicer place because of their customer service. read more

I love this Gringo's location. We eat here about once a month. They serve very good Tex-Mex and a good variety of dishes. The word that comes to mind is "quality". It's better than the one in Stafford, in my opinion. Here, the food and service has been very consistent during my visits. The food always comes out pretty fast and always tastes very fresh. They bring you the green and red salsa and the chips are good. During my last visit, I got the seafood enchiladas and they were outstanding. They also have an ice cream machine so you can grab a cone on your way out. My kids love that! It gets packed. If you come on a Friday night at 7, you may wait 30 minutes or more. But it's worth it. Sometimes you get there and think you will never be seated because of the crowds sitting outside with pagers. But they get you a table faster than expected. The place is clean and well maintained. They recently built a covered outdoor waiting area for patrons. I can't think of anything negative about this place. read more

Tonight our service absolutely sucked. My one drink took forever to get as in second basket of chips, both my kids got their drinks, another table got their food, ate their food, got their check and still I had no drink... I had to ask about it before I got it. We were not checked on one time after our food was delivered. I would've ordered a second drink which would mean more revenue for them but no one ever came by. I also told our waitress at the beginning of the visit that I wanted to order to go meal. Again she did not come by until she brought the check so missed out revenue again. Then when I gave her my card to go pay the bill and run it, a different person than our waitress brought my card back. I felt very uncomfortable with that. Better training is needed. read more

First off, I'm from Rosenberg and this place will always have a special place in my heart as the restaurant that saved us from having an On The Border in our fair city. That place was gone within a year or two of opening. Gringo's has been here about 6 as of this writing. While Gringo's may be a chain, it's a local one and their people seem to be in touch with the customer more so than with most other places I've been. I've never been disappointed with meals here. While the red and green sauces are good, they're not my all-time favorites. Meals, however, are tops. Portions are generous for just about everything. I've been able to bring family and friends to this location over the years and each time they've gotten great service. Among the top selections on my list when I bring out-of-towners to my hometown. And really, if all else fails with the visitors- get 'em a soft serve cone on the way out. Who doesn't love a frozen treat? read more
